The U.S. Secret Service gave congressional investigators a briefing on the Trump assassination attempt by Ryan Routh at Trump National in Florida. According to Florida Representative Mike Waltz, who is a member of the committee investigating, apparently the U.S. Secret Service agent walked up on Routh from the fence line and saw the barrel of the SKS rifle. The proactive shots fired by the agent were from within 10 feet of Ryan Routh.

Perhaps range time is in order, however, it appears the agent was walking up along the chain link fence when the agent observed the rifle barrel. Shots fired from the agent would have been at an angle and thus giving the miscreant some ballistic cover because the bullets fired would tend to be deflected by essentially a wall of steel.
Had the shooting taken place head on, one hopes that target acquisition would have been accurate and the miscreant 10-7.

Question: if Rough was wearing the tiles/backpack when he was discovered and shot at, was the backpack on the front of his body – which might stop a bullet?

A black rifle barrel against a green, leafy background is not that easy to see. But at 10 feet you should be able to cover that distance in less than a second and jump on the guy. The sniper would have to get to his feet and run away in the same amount of time which, considering the nonathletic suspect, seems unlikely.
Drawing from concealment and engaging a target in less than a second with a handgun is more difficult. The Tueller distance is 21 feet, not 10.

I have a poor opinion of SS. But that should not keep me from hypothesizing “Why?” with bias against someone.

Routh was told where to set up and wait and told the SS would find him. He was told to place the barrel of the gun sticking out. to be seen. They would see it and would shoot in the air and he could run away..The “patriot” who just happened to be nearby, would get his license when he ran away. An exciting hunt to find him would eventually catch him and so on. If that was the set up, it was to regain confidence in the Secret Service, who is now distrusted by a lot of Americans. Epic fail.

10 feet away when the Secret Service Agent fired the shots at Routh! How did the agent miss?
While training at the Immigration Officer Basic Training Class our course of fire began at the 3 ft line and moved progressively back to 50 feet! In addition, during my 13 weeks of training we fired at least 1250 rounds to become proficient with the use of our assigned weapon. I ask again, how, or why, did this agent miss his shot at 10 feet?
Could this individual have been told to stand down? This USSS Congressional Investigation is becoming curiouser and curiouser. Suspicious Cat is watching.
Has information about the location of the missed round(s) been released?
Are there witnesses who have said they heard evidence of the projectile moving through the air, ripping through foliage?
Evidence of the bushes being damaged?
…If not, could the shot fired by the SS agent … been a blank?

As a billionaire he should be able to afford it OR a very small part of the 155 million dollar campaign fund could be used.
I have made the suggestion that on every one of his golf courses he should set aside a small parcel for dog trainers, trainers that specialize in security dogs. It would be a symbiotic relationship that would benefit both parties.
A security dog would have spotted the threat from a 100 feet away and covered that distance quicker than the threat could have got away and would have been on him, chewing him a new azzhole.
Perhaps he should have thrown his gun at him. At least, that way there might have been some damage and would have slowed Routh from running away. Which by the way, says something that the guy, less than 10 feet away, wasn’t even tackled.

There was the story put out yesterday about a bomb found by a dog in a car near the New York Rally. There was a story put out about people on the right side of the stage at the Arizona event 5 days ago suffering medical issues.
This agent could have hit that guy in the bushes. If the “Deepstate” “Uniparty” “Establishment” wants to start breeding fear in people and attempt to diminish crowd size and people showing up for events and lessen support for President Trump, everything that is happening right now would make sense.
You know they have some kind of plan to stop him. As Sundance says, there are trillions at stake.

I’m in my late 70s and when I go to the gun range at 10’ all my shots hit the silhouette target center mass. Maybe it was better he missed at least Routh can now talk? I’m not bragging I’m not that good a shot! PTL the misses didn’t hit anyone else like the individual that saw and photographed him and his car! “The presence of God’s intervention” is apparent for those that have eyes that can see!
