If you get beyond Laura Ingraham’s severe fan-girling for her “top gov” hero, within this interview segment you will notice that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis says the FBI blocked state investigators from the fence line crime scene.
Apparently in Georgia and New York the federal government defers jurisdiction to New York and Georgia prosecution over federal matters surrounding President Trump, but in Florida the feds assert unilateral jurisdiction over the assassination attempt of President Trump.
In essence, in New York and Georgia the Biden administration (DOJ) don’t care what the state does against Trump’s interests; however, in Florida the Biden administration (DOJ) are concerned about what the state might do to defend Trump’s interests. Imagine that. And yet Merrick Garland says the DOJ operates without political motives?

Ingraham: Now, Governor, I want to turn to another topic because we were relieved to hear that you are doing your own independent investigation in Florida concerning the second assassination attempt on President Trump. My question to you tonight is, are the feds being cooperative with your investigation? Are you concerned that you’re not getting the information you need?
Gov. DeSantis: The answer is no; they’re not being cooperative. Yes, I am concerned. For example, we were rebuffed—our investigators were rebuffed just going to the fence line outside of Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach. I think they’ve taken the position that they don’t want the state of Florida to be involved in this. But here’s the thing: there were multiple violations of Florida law across multiple jurisdictions.
We believe at least three judicial circuits where this guy, Ryan Routh, committed potential violations of Florida law. We have a duty to investigate this. We have a duty to bring the appropriate charges. And we also have a duty to inform the public about how this happened. So, I don’t anticipate them being cooperative. I think they’ve just taken that position, and that’s unfortunate.
Even though I’ve been very clear—the state of Florida is going to do an investigation—I haven’t disputed their right to investigate as well. It’s the federal government. He was in their protective custody as a presidential candidate but let us do this. Hopefully, that will change. But I can tell you right now, Laura, we have not received much of a receptive response.
Ingraham: Very disturbing. By the way, we have Routh’s mugshot, where he looks to be slightly smirking. He’s a very strange individual, to say the least. But we’ve heard other FBI agents, former agents, and governors say they find it odd that in both the first assassination attempt and the second, there’s almost an immediate response from the feds saying, “Oh, looks like he acted alone,” or, “We really don’t know what the motives are here.” Does that strike you as strange?
Gov. DeSantis: Yeah, I don’t think the public has confidence when that is being done. As soon as we got word of this on Sunday, I told our state law enforcement guys to save all of his social media because, you know, Facebook will delete it. The tech companies will delete it. Right, get his digital trail, store that, because we need to know how he ended up in Florida to begin with. What path did this guy take to end up in those bushes trying to assassinate the former president of the United States and current Republican nominee? How did that happen?
We haven’t gotten answers about Butler, and we haven’t gotten answers about things like the Las Vegas shooting from many years ago. So part of our investigation will be to provide evidence of his motive, evidence of his associations, and evidence of his beliefs. I think it’s very important that the public gets the real story.
Ingraham: Yeah, well, the FBI has shredded its own credibility. And Governor, thank goodness you’re doing an investigation. I was so happy to hear that. It’s wonderful to see you tonight. Thank you so much.

Desantis is being disingenuous implying that they can’t get social media data if it’s deleted on the public end. We all know all he has to do is call or email with a subpoena and they gotta cough it all up. There’s no such thing as “deleting data” bc it’s backed up on tape drives and there are laws forcing companies to be compliant with data retention – which is years they have to keep ALL of their data.
So my question is: why tf is desantis lying about such a trivial matter? What’s his goal – to garner public support for his investigation by creating conspiracies like big tech deletes the people’s data when they need it the most?

Possible goal: To get back in the graces of the next Trump Admin.? Perhaps a cabinet role, the DOJ/FBI itself or other some such position. He is finished in FL and is seeking higher ground in DC, and positioning for ‘28. Mrs. DeS and her 3 kids need security and a nice house for at least the next 10 years. After all, he is a politician and that is what they do whether we like it or not.
There are alot of angry Floridians now for various reasons, and this is his chance to make good on the Mar a Lago episode. By exposing Jeffrey Veltri, the FBI Director Agent in Miami, we are seeing some serious corruption in S. Fla. (nothing new, but new to some people). He is the same guy who issued the warrant for the Mar a Lago raid and had the Palm Beach Magistrate approve it. There are some threads being pulled here with this Routh case, so I’m willing to be patient, let it unfold and see what washes up on the beach.
He will never get back in the good graces of those of us who’ve been fooled more than once by him and his cowboy RINOs in the FL legislature. They worked in tandem to change FL constitution, seal his visitor logs and seal all his travel records. I see are his lips moving and lies spewing forth.
Yes I agree, Floridians are justified and the list is long. He and the Mrs. only care about his future position and where to go for his next gig. He is most likely heading back to DC to land some type of work inside govt. or at some think tank. What happens to FL after he leaves Tallahassee is yet to be seen. Trusting politicians often leads to disappointment and the whole world is experiencing the same from their leaders. Trying to remain optimistic, but reality gets in the way so often. It’s not over ‘til the fat lady sings. As was mentioned, there are multiple crimes committed, triggering all levels of FL law enforcement. The gov is ordering a full investigation, starting with Fla. Dept of Law Enforcement (state) FDLE, Sheriffs of several counties and local municipalities. They will jump at the chance to preen in front of the cameras, to boost their image and because the public is demanding information. The pressure is on and FL rarely, if ever, backs down from difficult issues. Keep it moving forward with less focus on DeS and we may find out some interesting tidbits.

Just because the Feds did not “voluntarily”share information does not mean the State’s hands are completely tied. There are multiple ways this can unfold, with or without their cooperation. The jurisdictional issue is paramount and if things continue to be stonewalled this may end up in court very soon. The Supremacy Clause states that the Feds have jurisdiction if charges overlap, but a state can charge separately for different crimes. That is why he stated attempted murder and grand theft auto can be charged at the state level.
I will say though that I do approve of Desantis setting up a state investigation and especially giving the reason that the DOJ FBI are biased and corrupt, saying that those trying to prosecute trump unfairly cannot be trusted to investigate. I would like to see him be more confrontational in securing his states right to investigate. I am wondering if the feds always take precedence over the state officials.
From my understanding of the Supremacy Clause, they do if the charges overlap. For example if kidnapping is a federal and state crime the Feds take charge. When crimes do not overlap, attempted murder, auto theft, etc…the State has the authority and duty to prosecute those.

I thought the FB lie had to have permission of local law enforcement. I have heard in more than one case of a Sheriff not cooperating and letting the FB lie in. Is this not correct?
They do not need permission charging for federal gun crimes. If the state has the same gun laws, the Feds have supremacy. . The state has jurisdiction over non Fed gun crimes and a duty to prosecute those.
Obviously the Governor has no concept of using extreme federalism and exercising the State of Florida’s control via the Tenth Amendment.

This is spot on and at the root of most of our problems. States Rights is a huge issue but all the states have given too much deference to the Feds due to purse strings. Even law enforcement takes handouts from the DOJ, so why would they rock the boat by investigating sticky crimes? Seems many state governors do not want to jeopardize the road to DC post-gubernatorial jobs and favors…or…they do not want to be investigated themselves and go along to get along.
