You’ve made me remember as we head into autumn the difference between black cats here and across the pond. Come Halloween, here a black cat crossing one’s path is supposed to be bad luck; whereas across the pond, it is a sign of good luck to come. Don’t ask why….🤔🍁
That is such an infuriating quality that cats have. They will silently observe, while the human’s
mind implodes, in the frantic attempt to locate misplaced kitty.
“Misplaced” kitty is quite sadistic. It is highly amusing to torture the human. 😻

I used to have a female part-Siamese who I rescued when she had been abandoned by her ‘ family’, I already had two feline residents, and one day I saw her looking through the fence. She needed help.
I gave her food and water and she trusted me after a few days or so of living under the sundeck, ( in a cardboard box with an old sweater in it, cold temps)and then moved in. She treated my two resident cats with deference. They largely ignored her. She got to be a delightful addition to the family. She had had a hard time, and had some health problems due to living rough and trying to survive, but she soon recovered and became affectionate an happy.
The vet said she was between 3 and 5 years old not spayed . The infections dealt with (eye and ear) with antibiotics. All were taken care of. I named her ‘Grizabella.’
She was very intelligent and playful. One of her ideas of fun things to do, was to go the front door and meow loudly to go out, and insistently. I would go to the door to let her out and she would sort of crouch down, like a runner preparing for take off, and then run away, dash, into the living room and sometimes further away into the kitchen.
I could almost hear her laughing. After I caught on that this was her idea of fun, leaving me standing there with the door open, I would pretend to be annoyed and chase her with little steps back further into the house.
That was the part she wanted and she loved it
Then the game soon advanced a step, when I would stop chasing her, and pretend to have second thoughts, and run away from her and she immediately would take on the role of the aggressor and chase me round the house.
When she wanted to end the game she would lie on her back while I made a fuss of her. .
She was delightful, and did other things that showed her affection and intelligence, and she lived to be almost 20 years old, as far as we could estimate.
Her personal physician, a kind and long-experienced cat-loving vet, said one day, ” Everyone thinks their cat is beautiful, but yours really is.”
Cats are awesome. 🙂 (I do hope I get to see her again, and my others, they bring is such joy.)

Great story, jb. Thank you. Thanks largely to my late wife, we had a sizable population of foundling kitties. I found a birthday card from the early 90’s and she’d made little drawings of our 6-7 kitties and 3 dogs. It was a touching reminder. Our animal tribe of foundling cats and dogs got along just fine. The kitties just treated our dogs like overly large cats.
They knew where they were welcome 😌💕

furry friends, as well as all our human loved ones who went before us.

I’m so happy you had a loving heart as a vet. We had one, too, in Chirk. A small rundown building, nothing like the pristine designer vets’ surgeries here. But I loved it because of his and his staff’s big hearts. After our Jack Russell Penny was eased out of this world with his compassionate assistance, we received a handwritten sympathy note from all who worked there…A kindness we never experienced with any other vet. 😘
That was a very kind gesture for the vets office to do, because we do really grieve for our canine and feline friends.
I think Penny will be waiting for you, and so delighted to see you again and it maybe sooner than a lot of people think.

That vet, I read later, in a small town newspaper, had left town nd gone to a distant place to reach in a veterinary college. I was sorry to see him go but glad to in a way as that meant that young people studying to be vets would have such a loving person as a prof.
Also Jack Russells are amazing little dogs.My(deceased) husband’s cousin’s family live in the Cariboo country of B.C. (famous for the Gold rush) and they had a Jack Russel l called Daisy, (maybe I mentioned this before?)

When ‘her person’ a lovely man who adored daisy, as did the whole family, went out of their land (wild and beautiful) he had parked his truck to d something (fix a fence maybe ?) and was distracted. Daisy wasn’t she was alert, and took on a Cougar to protect him. By the time he grabbed his rifle from the truck Daisy was seriously injured. A vet tried to save her of course , but brave little Daisy died of her wounds, in loving arms.
If ever I figure out how to put picture on this website( I am not a bit techie) I will post a picture of Daisy. An ordinary-looking little dog but fearless when protecting her person.

If Griz was 5 when we rescued her then she probably made it to 20 years I know it was close and that was what the vet said too. He loved cats and had two Siamese felines of his own, with names from ‘ pseudo oriental’, Oriental l being the main idea 🙂 from the comedic light opera, by Gilbert and Sullivans, The Mikado’ I can’t remember what the names were. I have had many cats all shapes and sizes, fluffy and short haired, different characters like people, different likes and dislikes like people, but I loved them all.

Off driving 80 miles round trip for my hyperbaric oxygen session and a workout afterwards.
hyperbaric oxygen maybe good for the Parkinson’s so I’m giving it a try. Have to do 20 rounds, pretty much a round a day. So I am crazy busy before our trip to Eastern Europe.
SIL results weren’t that good. Another spot showed up on her liver. Will radiate that one, too then a scan in 3 months. If that pattern keeps up we’ll have to make a decision about chemo.

I have used fenbendazole, ivermectin, and MMS on my fur babies in the past with some great success and some “notso”. Also bitter apricot seeds have been helpful.
The really good news is that I have seen absolutely no adverse side effects.

I fear he will dismiss it, sis. Fenbendazole helps chemo work better so I read. There is so much out there now…but the ivermectin has cured (yes, I will say that) so many. No wonder the evil Pharmakeia are doing their best to bury it.
He went into hospital with severe stomach pain and vomiting…endoscopy showed an ulcer which was stapled (????) , an MRI which has just delivered results. Caroline drove over about an hour away to sort his bedroom sheets out for his incoming parents and to keep him company in hospital but she had to return because she was driving twin#2 to Louisiana the next day for university.
The alarm bells went off in my head immediately about the possibility of cancer…especially as I was getting the lowdown on his symptoms, and she said he’d lost a ton weight but figured it was because he lives alone and gives short shrift to cooking. When she mentioned the weight loss, I got very nervous…but didn’t say anything…worst fears confirmed.
I have no clue if he was vaxxxxed….which if he was would complicate things.
Doctors appointment tomorrow.

Afternoon, dear Bet . . . 🙂 The photos are in perfect alignment with our get-up -time just a few hours ago. Little ‘Tink was in her usual place on my shoulder. She is so tiny I didn’t realize she was there until I woke up. She stayed with me for several hours until I finally got up at 10. Good kitty. I am, indeed, going to have a decompression weekend. Just got back from a large and delicious Texas roadhouse style lunch. Yum!

The Fish N Chips van which used to come through and park in a close by Kroger parking lot once a month must be doing bang up business…they have started coming here now ever Saturday. Absolutely the best Fish N Chips we’ve tasted here. Been looking for some to measure up to the ones we always got in Wales to no avail. Until this one. We tip generously, and they know Chris by sight now. We get one portion and divide it between us because it is sort of dear. But bless their hearts (and I mean that💕!!!) they give us a bit more so that one portion is enough for the two of us.

Julie London’s sultry and breathy voice was not my cup of tea, but then again her style was popular a bit before my own musical awakening and development… The whole genre of Torch songs has sadly long ago faded from popularity.
Ironically, after Julie made ‘Cry Me a River” popular, Ella Fitzgerald recorded her own cover of it in ’61 and that was also a hit.
I appreciate your giving the Treehouse a tase of Julie London’s inimitable style this morning.

The recent interview between Tucker C and Russell B (Phoenix AZ) was truly inspiring. As many continue to talk about people “waking up” to the truth, here is a man who is experiencing the most profound awakening of all. So, what should we make of Russell Brand’s baptism and how should we respond? Well, I think the answer to both questions is simple.
“Nothing”

Controversial comedian and celebrity opinion former, Russell Brand has recently announced that he has been baptised in the River Thames.
The news has polarised responses with some being quick to jump on the news and share it as another exciting example of God moving to bring about a form of Christian revival.
Other examples include the interest shown in Jesus and Christianity by people such as Tom Holland and Jordan Peterson along with arch neo-atheist Richard Dawkin’s recent claim to be a cultural Christian.
Others have been quick to dismiss Brand’s “conversion” as likely fake. They’ve reacted strongly to his social media commentary on the event and been quick both to highlight questionable theology and the potential convenience of a religious experience at the very point when his private life is under scrutiny with several serious accusations being made against him.
So, we do best not to comment, not to second guess. Brand’s decision to get baptised and the question of whether this reflects genuine saving faith is a matter first between him and the Lord, then between him and a local church where he will hopefully be discipled and held accountable, finally between him and friends and family as he seeks to be a witness to them so that they can see a difference in his life.

so, we’re sitting on the porch swing discussing evil. He says there is so much evil all around us, where does it come from? I posit it all comes from human brains. I go on about no evil trees, rocks, air, water, other animals. only humans are evil. He rejoins how about tape worms and cancer. I answer “intent” is the evil part and does cancer have intent to do bad stuff.
That leads to if evil is intent to do bad stuff mainly to other people or torturing animals and what we see as evil people like Hamas may not think they intend to do bad stuff. If Hamas, for example, thinks it is doing good and following their god’s command by killing unbelievers …

I do not believe ANYONE ra₱ing, torturing, and slaughtering men, women, children and especially the babies – whose ends they enacted and cannot even be contemplated…can truly believe they are doing good or imagine they are not doing ‘bad stuff’.
How in any world or anyone’s mind could or would a baby be an unbeliever and deserve the fates they were given?
They knew and know they are doing evil and wrong! BUT even though they THINK they’re justified because they do it to their self-proclaimed enemies – they are intentional on the doing of the evil that they do.
Though I do believe they may think they’re following their supposed deity’s command, there is an inherent sense of GOD, that is in all of us.
That sense of our Father, may be or have been given up or driven away in how they are raised – but they are yet of the human race (or one would think so – unless they be of the nephilim) they still carry intent in doing what they do and what’s driving them.
He, ‘rejoins how about tape worms and cancer…’ If these things are thought evil and you feel that they need a qualifier of intent – that would come from the ‘father of lies’ – the evil one himself.
God does not do these things to us. He may allow things to happen for reasons that are in and to His own will and purpose, you only need to read Job for an example of this.
I am no Biblical scholar, but reading and knowing His Word and using my knowledge and common sense, these are my thoughts on your conversation.
You may see things differently, merry, and I know I dislike conversations where there is no chance really to reflect and think through things when it’s complicated – but yet it’s an important issue to ponder more thoroughly and to respond as you might wish to.
I’m always kicking myself later for not being more measured or speaking out of emotion, rather than that measured thought.
Hope you can settle all of that conversation within yourself, for your own peace of mind. 💓
it was just one of those throw away conversations. our peace of mind not disturbed. we just talk about stuff like how do trees put on a new ring every year. We have surrounded ourselves with beauty. Big comfortable house warm in winter cool in summer. jasmine and gardenia bloom on the porch. to the north is a stand of doug fir back of a hay field. east a trail goes upward through doug fir to our spring. west goes downhill to the river and south goes into our old orchard where the pears are now ripe.
the evil here comes from the internet on our desktops. so far out we have no cell phone service and closest neighbors live a mile away and across the river.

Where does evil come from?
The Bible provides an undeniably clear answer: Satan (aka the Serpent / Leviathan / the Adversary) and his fallen angels – which produce demonic spirits (demons) that can occupy a weak human whose faith is non-existent or very weak.
Man has individual volition (our “brains”…actually our soul & spirit), but because of the fall of Adam we are all born with Adamic sin. It is up to each of us to reject sin, pray constantly to repent our sins, ask for forgiveness and pursue righteousness as best as we can, and to obey God’s fundamental laws (Ten Commandments) while also believing in His Son Jesus Christ.
Ephesians 6:12 describes the sources and forces of evil:
“For our struggle is NOT against flesh and blood [IOW, not against human beings] but against the rulers, against the powers, against the worldforces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.”

In loving the Lord, the believer is to imitate Him (Ephesians 5:1), walking in love, forgiving others, showing compassion, being thankful, and serving others. Paul urges, “Let all that you do be done in love” (1 Corinthians 16:14).
Pray for followers of Christ across the United States, including those who are leaders in government, to practice this basic rule of life to love God above everything so that He is ultimately glorified.
