Vice Presidential nominee Senator JD Vance, appears on Meet the Press for an argumentative debate on Trump policy. On the issue of tariffs, this might have been JD Vance’s first opportunity to set the record straight about what tariffs did in the first Trump administration.
Unfortunately, because JD Vance did not have the data to refute the NBC talking points, he missed an opportunity to set the record straight. Tariffs did not raise prices and consumers did not pay tariff rates in the first Trump administration. Factually, the exact opposite happened. Prices dropped when Trump tariffs were put into place, the reasons are explained after the interview. WATCH:
Our own analysis of U.S. consumer prices in 2019 showed that prices of imported goods actually declined despite the tariffs. A recent report from CPA takes a look at the impact to Chinese exports to the U.S. [SEE DATA HERE] Bottom line, the tariffs worked to reduce Chinese imports.
CPA – […] Since the Section 301 tariffs were imposed, the share of imports from China has steadily declined from 21.6% in 2017 the year prior to the tariffs to 16.5%, a decline of 5.1%. No other country has lost as much share of total U.S. import penetration over the past five years.
In terms of total import value, Mexico gained the most from the tariffs, adding $110.8 billion. Vietnam gained the second most in import value by $78.4 billion and by far gained the most of total share of U.S. imports. In 2017, Vietnam accounted for about 2% of U.S. imports at $46.5 billion. In 2022, the U.S. imported $127.5 billion in goods from Vietnam, and the share of the total nearly doubled to 3.9%. Other countries in Southeast Asia such as Thailand, Cambodia, and Indonesia all saw significant increases in their value of imports by the U.S. (read more)
With the 2024 election here, it is worth revisiting the actual tariff outcome to American consumers in order to dispel the popular myths about tariffs raising prices here at home. This might be the cited data you want to bookmark for later reference.
It was the Fourth Quarter of 2019…..
Right before the pandemic would hit a few months later, despite two years of doomsayer predictions from Wall Street’s professional punditry, all of them said Trump’s 2017 steel and aluminum tariffs on China, Canada and the EU would create massive inflation – it just wasn’t happening!
Overall, year-over-year inflation was hovering around 1.7 percent [Table-A BLS]; yup, that was our inflation rate. The rate in the latter half of 2019 was firmed up with less month-over-month fluctuation, and the rate basically remained consistent. [See Below] The U.S. economy was on a smooth glide path, strong, stable, and Main Street was growing with MAGAnomics at work.

A couple of important points. First, unleashing the energy sector to drive down overall costs to consumers, and industry outputs was a key part of President Trump’s America First MAGAnomic initiative. Lower energy prices help the worker economy, middle class and average American more than any other sector.
Which brings us to the second important point. Notice how food prices had very low year-over-year inflation – 0.5 percent. That is a combination of two key issues: low energy costs, and the fracturing of Big Ag’s hold on the farm production and the export dynamic:
(BLS) […] The index for food at home declined for the third month in a row, falling 0.2 percent. The index for meats, poultry, fish, and eggs decreased 0.7 percent in August as the index for eggs fell 2.6 percent. The index for fruits and vegetables, which rose in July, fell 0.5 percent in August; the index for fresh fruits declined 1.4 percent, but the index for fresh vegetables rose 0.4 percent. The index for cereals and bakery products fell 0.3 percent in August after rising 0.3 percent in July. (link)
For the previous twenty years, food prices had been increasingly controlled by Big Ag, and not by normal supply and demand. The commodity market became a ‘controlled market’. U.S. food outputs (farm production) was controlled and exported to keep the U.S. consumer paying optimal prices.
President Trump’s trade reset was disrupting this process. As farm products were less exported, the cost of the food in our supermarket became reconnected to a ‘more normal’ supply and demand cycle. Food prices dropped, and our pantry costs were lowered.
The Commerce Dept. then announced that retail sales climbed by 0.4 percent in August 2019, twice as high as the 0.2 percent analysts had predicted. The result highlighted retail sales strength of more than 4 percent year-over-year. These excellent results came on the heels of blowout data in July, when households boosted purchases of cars and clothing.
The better-than-expected number stemmed largely from a 1.8 percent jump in spending vehicles. Online sales, meanwhile, also continued to climb, rising 1.6 percent. That’s similar to July 2019, when Amazon held its two-day blowout Prime Day sale. (link)
Despite the efforts to remove and impeach President Trump, it did not look like middle class America was overly concerned about the noise coming from the pundits. Likely that’s because blue collar wages were higher, Main Street inflation was lower, and overall consumer confidence was strong. Yes, MAGAnomics was working.
Additionally, remember all those MSM hours and newspaper column inches where the professional financial pundits were claiming Trump’s tariffs were going to cause massive increases in prices of consumer goods?
Well, exactly the opposite happened [BLS report] Import prices were continuing to drop:
This was a really interesting dynamic that no one in the professional punditry would dare explain.
Donald Trump’s tariffs were targeted to specific sectors of imported products. [Steel, Aluminum, and a host of smaller sectors etc.] However, when the EU and China responded by devaluing their currency, that approach hit all products imported, not just the tariff goods.
Because the EU and China were driving up the value of the dollar, everything we were importing became cheaper. Not just imports from Europe and China, but actually imports from everywhere. All imports were entering the U.S. at substantially lower prices.
This meant when we imported products, we were also importing deflation.
This price result is exactly the opposite of what the economic experts and Wall Street pundits predicted back in 2017 and 2018 when they were pushing the rapid price increase narrative.
Because all the export dependent economies were reacting with such urgency to retain their access to the U.S. market, aggregate import prices were actually lower than they were when the Trump tariffs began:
[…] Prices for imports from China edged down 0.1 percent in August following decreases of 0.2 percent in both July and June. Import prices from China have not advanced on a monthly basis since ticking up 0.1 percent in May 2018. The price index for imports from China fell 1.6 percent for the year ended in August.
[…] Import prices from the European Union fell 0.2 percent in August and 0.3 percent over the past 12 months.
So yes, we know President Trump can save Social Security and Medicare by expanding the economy with his America First economic policy. We do not need to guess if it is possible or listen to pundits theorize about his approach being some random ‘catch phrase’ disconnected from reality. Yes folks, we have the receipts.
This was MAGAnomics at work, and this is entirely what created the middle class MAGA coalition. No other candidate has this economic policy in their outlook, because all other candidates are purchased by the Wall Street multinationals.
America First MAGAnomics is unique to President Trump, because he is the only one independent enough to implement the policy.
That’s just the reality of the situation. They hate him for it…

“They hate him for it…”
I LOVE him for it!!!
The Republicans always seem to throw the Democrat candidate a lifeline when they start to sink.
I guess that’s what you’re seeing now!
yup
Explain
I don’t think you can create the life that JD Vance has by being an idiot.
thanks for that! So where is Tampon Tim being interviewed? Haven’t seen him. I want to go and find what Sundance wrote, I’m interested in reading it. I personally love having a VP who’s outspoken and in the mix.
Now that is an idiotic statement.
Worse than idiotic , it is a lie. The Left is planning, orchestrating, more lies. That is their go-to. They have nothing else.
I do not see where Sundance called JD an idiot. If that is your opinion of JD, OWN IT. “Idiot” WAS NEVER AN ADJECTIVE SUNDANCE USED TO DESCRIBE JD VANCE.
I don’t get it…Trump had a great rally with RFK…the DNC is NOT being talked about anymore and they send out JD to the talk shows…Twitter was eating him alive today… And then an hour ago President Trump goes on Truth social and puts out something about not possibly doing the ABC debate????
“I watched ABC FAKE NEWS this morning, both lightweight reporter Jonathan Carl’s(K?) ridiculous and biased interview of Tom Cotton (who was fantastic!), and their so-called Panel of Trump Haters, and I ask, why would I do the Debate against Kamala Harris on that network? Will panelist Donna Brazil give the questions to the Marxist Candidate like she did for Crooked Hillary Clinton? Will Kamala’s best friend, who heads up ABC, do likewise. Where is Liddle’ George Slopadopolus hanging out now? Will he be involved. They’ve got a lot of questions to answer!!! Why did Harris turn down Fox, NBC, CBS, and even CNN? Stay tuned!!!”
Just when things were starting to look up… If you are brave enough take a trip to twitter and see whats happening it is just too much.. Friday and Saturday was all Trump and Kennedy…
Actually, that’s a good question. Why did Harris turn down NBC, CBS, and CNN? What does ABC offer her that the rest don’t?
You know it is a good question…one that should have been asked WEEKS ago..We all know who’s at ABC right?
I read that differently than you did. I don’t think Trump was throwing in the towel or trying to scuttle a debate. I think Trump may know something damaging and is setting up the reveal.
I don’t think Harris will debate in the end. She can’t. She risks the Biden debate disaster without dementia as the excuse. She won’t even sit with friendly press for interviews tells me that she knows that she can’t debate Trump. Trump’s first attack should be to ask her why he lied about Biden’s condition for 3 years. She has no good answer for that. Border questions will end her. Trump just gave her an out here. If her advisors are shrewd, they’ll have her claim that Trump is scared and cancel it and then put him in the position to look like he’s begging for one.
I think there’s more going on here than we can see.
Who is saying Trump is throwing in the Towel, i’m not- Again this tweet from Trump could have waited. It really could have. momentum was building after the Kennedy announcement, Trump single handedly took the wind out of 3 days of the DNC – That’s a fact…and now it gone with interviews with Vance and this Tweet. That’s what I am saying.
“I don’t think Harris will debate in the end. She can’t. She risks the Biden debate disaster without dementia as the excuse”
Not so sure the excuse isn’t valid. May well be. Certainly stupor.
that’s fine and daddy if that ever becomes the case…Why tweet it then…wait it out
My fault- The quote was from the comment by Free Trump, who I agree with.
I didn’t mean to present it as from a tweet by Trump or anyone else.
Cover. They will give her the advantage by avoid questions that need to be asked that she can’t address.
It will be all anti Trump.
The questions in advance….Advanced Butthead Commies
Her strategists are using the same strategy with Harris as they did with Biden. “One debate” to see how it goes. In reality, Trump would turn her incoherent babble against her in moments after she opens her mouth. He would have her talking off-script in seconds exposing how scripted and disingenuous she is as a person and as a character.
What they are doing is damage prevention because they KNOW she’s weak to the point that they will lose ALL power in this country for a very long time. But they have no choice in this matter. Their options are crap. When they make choices as bad as supporting Harris, then you know she was the BEST option they had or the only option. Either way, they are struggling so hard and are depending on the acceptance of corruption in their base. They could be right about their base…
Yup!
Keep her hidden with no specifics on policy.
It’s like Obama’s “Hope and Change” only her theme is “joy” and fake love.
She still has NO PLATFORM on her website
CUT THE CORD
Disney+?
I believe Disney owns ABC and she has loyal friends there.
Kamala’s husband is an entertainment lawyer!!!
abc cbs nbc fox all owned by walt~
Donna Brazile and GeorgeStephanopolus.
I haven’t read up on it but the problem might be the rules.
Of course Kamala will have the questions and memorized answers all ready to go.
What’s going on is sickening and scary.
I’ve been on “x” all morning and haven’t seen anything about this, much less “eating him alive.” If you’re talking about dem posters, what do you expect them to say?
Things have never looked down for me, Trump is going to win, all their propaganda isn’t working.
JD did an excellent job of keeping K. Welker at bay, although she was coming at JD with pre-scripted “bullet” points. JD held his own. IMO, JD did an excellent job of deflecting the semi-automatic lefty bullets that were fired.
Off the subject a little -have you noticed one mandatory security agreement every month now from MS. Black-mail, sign or lose privileges. Anyone know of a good replacement. Dating her is becoming a problem.
I have gone to UBUNTU Linux. Works great, no MS BS. Comes with ir’s own opemn source office that reads all files, etc.
AND IT IS FREE!
WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?
Arthur is right – Linux is the way to go. I’ve been running Linux Mint on my laptop for quite some time now, and it works great. The only possible gripe I could have with Mint is that the download and installation procedure can be a little detailed. Other than that, it works and looks just like Windows, with a few minor cosmetic differences.
Here’s a little vid with some good info in it, might help to get out of the MS trap.
I think that Vance missed an opportunity to stop the “interview” and ask the interviewer if she is a journalist or an apologist for the Democratic Party.
As is typical of these people, all of her questions were chosen and framed from Democrat talking points.
that interview should never have taken place
Where is this coming from? I thought he handled himself well in that interview. He could have made some of the points regarding the tariffs suggested by Sundance, but I think whenever interviewed on one of the propaganda networks, you have to realize who the audience is. Allow me to give you a clue, it’s not MAGA viewers. As such, he has to convince those whose minds aren’t yet made up, or may be leaning toward voting for Trump. Coming out and stating unequivocally that the Democrats will try to steal the election will lose some of those potential voters. Not a single MAGA voter is going to drop Trump because Vance didn’t go all MAGA in that interview; however, some middle of the road twit who doesn’t buy into vote fraud might. Trump needs all of the voters he can get precisely because there will be unprecedented election fraud in 2024.
Considering that the economy is one of THE largest issues to Americans, the fact that JD was not up to speed and prepared to respond to such attack vectors speaks poorly of his preparation IMO…especially when being interviewed by such an evil little snake as that one.
yep .. he SHOULD know these answers and he SHOULD be prepared. Byron Donalds would have eat her alive and spewed her right back in her pantsuit.
Despicable
the question would have never been ask to Byron Donalds… She would have hit Byron Donalds with something entirely different…It’s what they do.
agree that not being prepared to answer the tariff impact question is baffling. Its a foundational tenet of the Trump/Navarro/Mnuchin trade policy. Everyone knows that tariffs work and is why the NWO/globalists despise them.
He may not have hit it the way you or Sundance would’ve liked, but to say he was not prepared is simply false. Could he have had a more effective answer? Maybe. There are not many people who can follow economic arguments, particularly the middle of the road dolts, so he hit the points that even they can understand. Keep in mind, the viewers were those who get their news from NBC. They are not MAGA voters.
Vance answered well. His response that we need to reduce foreign dependency on basic necessities in order to protect supply at affordable prices was a home run. Every sensible American knows that is the most important, bottom line answer.
He hit the core issue without getting lost in arcania, exactly what has to be done in that setting.
I wasn’t a Vance advocate initially, I don’t know why I am defending him here of all places. He’s doing OK.
I strongly disagree.
The falsehood she kept pounding on was that it was a tax and direct cost to the American taxpayer to the tune of $80B. He never directly refuted that point and left it out hanging out there and in fact at one point tacitly gave on the issue and said yes, “but wages go up so people end up ahead.”
In regards to the average voter, the bigger concern is about their costs and taxes – logistical issues relating to supply chain dependency is closer to being the arcane aspect of the conversation. Even the part of his answer that was more relatable to most is the jobs aspect – but she denied it, countering with a WSJ statement (which many people falsely view as trustworthy and unbiased) and he had no facts “at his fingertips” to lend credence to his statement and/or discredit hers (like a list of states in which plants were opened, places construction was started, increased exports of a product, nada – not a single fact to counter).
The result was a stick able to be picked up and used to pound the false point home with. To be honest he also let her slip in a closing point that should have been smacked down as well when she said “on pricing and prices inflation is obviously at its lowest point since 2021” – when he could have easily retorted “only because of how high their disastrous budgets and policies and driven inflation sky high, whereas PDJT’s policies had resulted in very low inflation.” It was a softball across the center of the plate.
I would agree that he had been doing well, but on this one he didn’t and considering that it was a key aspect of PDJT’s economic policy that had received the exact same flack during his term and that a policy that has been indicated as being part of the plan should he retake the WH, JD should have been better versed to squash the main thrust.
As far as “of all places defending him here” comment – you should expect honest conversations and opinions, not “ook, ook, everybody is wonderful and can do no wrong” – be it JD or PDJT or anyone else. It isn’t a cheer leading club and we don’t have to all agree all the time on things 🙂
Your comment is so poorly presented that if JD had used it verbatim, no one could have understood what he said. So until you can do better than this, Shut the f up. I’m getting damned tired of you nitwits coming here to tear everyone down with psychobabble. At least be readable.
I shall say whatever I want and put forth whatever opinion I have at any time I wish.
You have absolutely no say in that. Don’t like it, don’t read it.
Mnunchin.
What happened to THAT guy?
Rich geek with a smoking hot wife.
Goes from the money handler of the republic,

I had to research that… 👀👀👀👀. From Scotland, yet!
So interesting about Vietnam’s increase in revenue share of exports. I am in world wide sourcing in the fashion apparel industry and we worked very hard to pull our manufacturing out of China and place it into Vietnam. This was to evade the higher cost of China. I do need to mention that almost all of our products have tariff’s on them from China. So other country’s to add tariffs to goods coming to USA.
I’m not into “fashion” – but many Americans now look to see where something was made and if there is ANY alternative to China, they will usually take it for a multitude of reasons.
The prophets who warned us about the economic treason of “Free Trade” were shunned, silenced, and Alinsky’d.
That’s what happened to the “Make America First Again” movement in the 90’s. The Council On Foreign Relations managed Op Mockingbird media ignored it, and than once it won the paper ballot first Primary in New Hampshire it was full on Alinsky attacks, plus some good ole fashioned election treason and voila we got stuck with fake opposition candidates CFR/CIA Bush Srin 92 & Bob Dole.in 96
Cheers Harrison btw
True words.
May your day be blessed CK.
yep, if it is not listed on the website I am purchasing from, I TAKE IT BACK IMMEDIATELY if “Made in China” on the label when it arrives.
Love that photo!
Send this article to Bobby. He really needs to read this.
I don’t understand why any Republican Candidate, spokesperson, representative anyone, goes on any of these network shows.
Boycott them. Let them fill the dead air,
No one on our side is watching them anyway, I doubt any questioning voters are as well.
As we have seen here this week, most of the young are getting their info from Alt media.
Shut them off. No more interviews.
let them talk to themselves.
I agree. Legacy Media is part of the Big Club. It would not surprise me that the viewership numbers are completely fake.
No one watches them.
Because maybe there’s some unaffiliated voters watching. All the more reason Vance should have been prepared.
No one on our side is watching them anyway
Precisely why it is not a bad idea to get interviewed on these networks, but only if you are fully prepared to respond to the propaganda. I thought Vance did a decent job. Picture some middle of the road Democrat or even Republican that can’t fathom voting for a vacuous woman who was chosen because she is female and black, not because she is smart and worthy of the office. To one such as that who has only seen the caricature of Vance presented by the propaganda arm of the globalists – also known as the corporate media – he probably appeared like a reasonable candidate with reasonable answers. Trump already has the MAGA voters; it doesn’t do him much good to continue to preach to the choir.
He did fine, pray for Trump, Vance and families.
he actually did not do “fine”. He was ill prepared and let a lightweight so called journalist, who is a markist herself most likely, screw him on a subject he should already be up to debate on. Don’t think that Walz won’t use that on him.
Retired Magistrate here: I watched the entire interview and JD did just fine. He answered her questions and got in the points he wanted. I know most people wanted someone else other than JD Vance; however, this is who President Trump picked and as far as I am concerned JD is doing a good job.
Here in Ohio we will hate to lose him as a Senator; he has been the best Senator Ohio has had in a long time. It will be up to DeWine to appoint the next Senator until another election can be held. I would not put it past DeWine to appoint Kasich, who hates Trump, just like DeWine does.
I think deWine should appoint Vivek. But he wont
Interesting. Gives him a chance to show if he’s for real. Besides that, he likes my dog, proving he has good taste
There is a definite lust for trashing Vance at every opportunity now – very disappointing and arrogant – IMO. This has been an ongoing trend, and many are jumping at the chance to throw him under the bus. Same is likely true with President Trump – one questionable comment/tweet/look/ gesture – and the turn is on. For those who are so incredibly more intelligent, savvy, clever, prepared on/for every possible topic – run for office quickly!!
Preach it, sister.

As usual THANK YOU

why does anyone go on the Nothing But Commies network….why give them any time….they are commie A holes.
JD let Kirsten walk all over him 🙄
sorely underprepared. He was not ready for this position. He doesn’t seem to have the fire to cut them off, correct them or he just can’t think fast enough.
I was a no on him from day One. Byron Donalds would have eaten her alive
Who? What’s her name is no Tim Russert where few even know her name much less her face today.
I liked the interview with J.D. Vance. He held his own in the face of an interviewer who was purposefully trying to bait him into a “gotcha moment” for her. Vance refused to succumb to her obvious manipulations.
As far as his needing to have more facts at his disposal; how does one face a relentless ideologue’s questions when that ideologue does not listen to the answers you give, but presses forward with an agenda she has designed to get you to say something you are not saying?
You do like Trump. FULL FORCE throwdown. CALL her out for what she is.
He’s too meek. He’s weak
Byron Donalds would have smoked her arse
Watched it, had the impression of solidity in the face of inimical opposition, and now at a time distance, remember basically two points on the tariffs – 12,000 factories added, no more than 2% inflation. Also a reference to Chinese slave labor.
Would serve us to recall that not all voters/listeners start from the premises here. Involved analysis is not well remembered in a general sense. Voters have to be reached in their personal time and attention space. Make short, specific points if you want memory to work in your favor.
Mostly post this in support of Mr. O’Donnell’s opinion. Appreciate the perspective.
You got it. Most of the stubborn commentors here are not recognizing that we are at the beginning of the “Contrasts, Snapshots and Soundbites” phase of the campaign.
You are so right! Same reactions I had. Vance is consistently cool-headed and still warm personally, gets quick sharp points across that inform voters before the attack dog interviewer attacks him again. All this shows he is deep in his knowledge, awareness and thinking. Very impressed.
why isn’t J.D. Vance more up to speed? He needs to get busy learning. Too bad he lost a good opportunity to set it right.
Here are the “Harris Economics Plan” talking points sent out to the Sunday Talk Show hosts:
https://www.nytimes.com/2024/08/25/opinion/kamala-harris-economy-trade-antitrust.html?smid=nytcore-ios-share&referringSource=articleShare&sgrp=c-cb
Mr. Vance probably didn’t have time to read up on this to prepare a quick response.
Let’s face it. Vance is a mealymouthed weasel, owned by Thiel. He has no principles, other than the ones Thiel tells him to have. If Thiel tells him to attack Trump in 2015, he does it. If Thiel tells him to cozy up to Trump in 2024, he does it. He can’t argue principles with this NBC tool because he has no principles. He has a US Senate seat that Thiel purchased for him with a check for $15M.
Now, if NBC interviewed Thiel here, it might have value. Same if they asked Vance about Thiel’s money to him.
Vance is property, a head of livestock, wearing Thiel’s brand.
Highly programmable, like Ramaswamy. Some models are better than others. Some programming better than others.
“It was the 4th quarter of 2019…” and then COVID. Funny, the timing. And who benefitted. Such an odd coincidence.
Thank you Sundance.
What a coincidence, I was thinking about tariffs just before I logged on here.
There was a post on X the other day which explained the utter hatred toward Donald Trump from a particular Never Trumper as being mostly about one thing, “tariffs”.
That got me thinking back to when I was in school and they taught us about trade and “goods and services” and my eyes tended to glaze over but what I do remember is “tariffs” came up a lot.
I was thinking about how for some men, economics is almost like a side religion, and economics gets called a science but you still get prominent economists who strongly disagree with each other, and argue, just like different denominations argue doctrine.
I’m just realizing now, from this article, that the full extent of their wrath toward Trump is because he poked a hole in their belief system, their “religion”.
I don’t pretend to have a firm grasp of these things, but neither do the so-called “experts” or they wouldn’t have different theories.
The progs started calling certain academic activities “science” more than a century ago. Many of these are actually more religious in nature, as you say.
Destroying clear language is always a prog tactic. It’s almost a science, we might say.
Heh.
I’m just so sick of people on the left pretending the feelings of women are important. They can’t possibly believe that when they are actively punishing women and GIRLS by violating their modesty and femininity by allowing FETISHISTS to be present in female spaces. The results are disastrous with countless examples in the wake of their insane policies. The only purpose this serves is to completely DEMOCRALIZE women and GIRLS in this country.
And if calling certain women “cat ladies” hurts? Sorry but not sorry. What is it about this label which hurts? If they love cats over people and family, they are probably either happy or regretful of the choices they made. If they are happy, they are not offended and are, in fact, proud of it. If they are regretful, it’s just too bad! It’s not like the world did not warn them of the likely results of such anti-family and anti-NATURE point of view.
Anecdotally, I have an older female co-worker who had stated openly that she doesn’t like people and prefers dogs. (She’s a dog lady rather than a cat later for whatever that’s worth) I disagree with that entirely. I believe animals are here to serve the interests of humans. I believe humans created specific domesticated breeds of animals to tune them to more specific purposes. But they are never “better” or more important than PEOPLE. But one day at the dollar tree, I saw a mug which said something along the lines of “I like dogs more than people” and I bought it with her in mind. I placed it on her desk. To me, it was something of a negative. To her, it was a wonderful gift! She posted a picture of it on her facebook page, I’m told, saying “someone gets me!”
The point is, she really feels/believes that she enjoys the company of animals over that of humans. She’s not “offended by it” in the slightest especially when the context of it isn’t clear. As statement of fact, she saw it as a positive while I expressed it internally as negative.
Cat ladies should be PROUD of Vance’s comment/criticism if they are, in fact, confident in their views and feelings. But if they feel conflicted about their choices because Vance pointed that out? Where’s the real source of the problem?
Most people suck. My dog and cats only motive is for me to feed them and treat them well.
It’s not my fault most humans are too tech addicted and self absorbed to be able to have a normal relationship.
Nor is it weird for me to be sick and tired of trying to have a productive relationship with people who have lost their humanity.
Besides, as I have posted before, who really wants to hang out with an underemployed, under medicated chronic pain patient/ reformed drunk?
I have been a “grumpy old man” according to my family, since I broke vertebrae playing football in 9th grade.
I have fought debilitating chronic pain for 30 years.
Maybe it’s better for people like me to be isolated with pets. I talk to more people here than I do in everyday life.
Eat more meat.
Ma’am I am an omnivore. I eat quite a bit of meat, much of which I kill and harvest myself, most “men” in this Country have never skinned one of their meals.
This was a great interview, very civil…..
Why ever appear on this particular woman’s show in the first place?
I am voting for Trump. Voted for Trump. But, tariffs are indeed a tax on people. They should be eliminated. The best way to make America Great Again is to make America competitive again by getting rid of tons of regulation and eliminating agencies that get in the way of America’s competitiveness.
It’s the manipulation of facts to say Americans didn’t pay on tariffs. They did and they always do. It’s not a direct tax, where if you raise a tariff on a good and automatically the good rises by that cost. It’s an indirect cost. There are also opportunity costs involved.
No, the facts state otherwise. Little inflation rise is a fact.
Opportunity cost forced others to eat the tariff costs, not us. And it drove a massive rise in foreign capital investment here.
To digress, AI posts seem to be a thing these days.
The Uniparty hates competitiveness. So do their paymasters, who own them. Your premise fails at first cut.
If you want to buy products from other countries just go live there.
All the factual support for Trump and the policies he has or will implement means nothing to obese single cat ladies brainwashed by the media into believing their lives will be “ruined” by making America great again and this is probably true. In a woke world, obese childless cat ladies are deemed happy——in a maga world we’re running after grandchildren.
If president Trump is not elected president 47 every conservative radio talk show and conservative website will be history.
No conservatives will want to hear how bad it is going to be after the fact.
We have been here for 4 years hanging on by a thread and gaining weight with the wind growing stronger as we sway.
I am still very confident that Trump will prevail but very concerned till then.
My degree is in Economics, and much of my work in business revolved around analysis (both micro and macro). There is a reason to use tariffs as a tool, but it should not always be used as policy. Trump’s team brilliantly accessed the global positioning and macro forces inhibiting domestic production and China’s strategy to dominate exports. Strategic tariffs gave opportunity to support greater imports from Mexico while opening other nations in SE Asia to producers. Some of what occurred was a shell game but the majority involved factory deployment in alternative nations AND movement of some goods back to the US. The opportunity increased competitiveness and hence lowered pricing (or kept it competitive). Domystic production of steel and other items brought improved logistics and lower costs, keeping pricing in check.
It was a moment in time where the right tool (strategic tariffs) was used perfectly. It doesn’t mean tariffs will always create such an outcome. Most people glaze over when talking about tariffs. What Vance and others need to do is have a clear brief elevator speech response. Something to the effect of: “During President Trump’s term, he used tariffs to push back on China’s expansionism into America’s markets. The effects were clear; bringing increased domestic manufacturing and jobs back to America, plus increased competitiveness for our market from a wider variety of nation producers, which LOWERED pricing of imported goods overall.”
Well stated. My eyes didn’t glaze over.
How could he not know this?
I’m looking to live in an RV camper. This is not the American dream at age 70.
On the bright side, it is not a nursing home.
At this point, any foreign language might do.
After reading a number of comments including Sundance disparaging JD’s performance. I watched the entire interview and this is what I saw and heard: Yes, he did not explain that China had to devalue their currency so that prices didn’t increase; Besides that, he answered every question well although he was constantly interrupted in a disrespectful manner.
JD kept his cool which is also part of their strategy for him to lose his temper and he didn’t raise his voice in frustration (I have a bad habit of that when I’m not getting a point across).
This interview reminds me of a cartoon showing Bill Clinton with a lap dog (media) on his lap. When the same dog was on W’s lap it attacked him. I guess that is what bitches do.
Right on! Lol
She is insufferable to listen to.
I thought JD, on the whole, crushed her in the overall interview. I don’t see a VP option that would have performed any better.
You’ve got to love the tactic repeated over and over by this vacuous interviewer. After Vance answers a question, bring up some fake point to counter his cogent reply and then say let’s move on. That should be shown to students as and example of propaganda in action.
Love me some JD!
Trump should agree to a debate with microphones turned off when opponent is speaking.
Never interrupt a woman when she’s making a mistake. And Kamala can make some whoppers.
4 minutes and 49 seconds in and I can no longer listen to another word from that disgusting woman. I just can’t stomach her filthy lies and her arrogant tone.
I read this article and many of the responses earlier today. I didn’t “reply” to any posts because I was using a device other this one, that I have been “signed into” for several years. So, I am responding now (that I am on my “routine” device, even though this may be considered old news by some.
I was dismayed by some of the criticism of JD. I understand JD was not Sundance’s choice for VP, nor was he the the choice of many/some of you. However, to call JD “an idiot” and/or somebody who “is not up to speed” etc is IMO wrong.
I find JD very intelligent and very capable. He has been out there, flying by the seat of his pants doing an excellent job of answering the loaded questions of the Leftist’s “gotcha” questions, and insinuations – the insinuations are all cheap shots.
The “news show” interview with K. Welker was a well-scripted attack on JD. You do understand that she had a professional (Leftist) crew write out her questions; and then she fired them off as if she was using a semi-automatic.
JD did an excellent job of keeping her at bay. Welker went out there to sabotage JD, and she failed.
As I said above, JD is intelligent. This interview will only serve to strengthen him.
And for all the naysayers, JD is PDJT’s choice for VP. Until/unless he he demonstrates that he is not all in MAGA, give him a fair shake. NOT YOUR LOVE, NOT BLIND ADORATION; JUST A FAIR SHAKE
It’s a bad sign for our movement when a snark groupthink begins showing it can’t see or refuses to see the excellent job that JD Vance is doing often and well in his relationships on the campaign trail, speaking engagements, rallies, and on the Sunday shows. The criticisms of Vance here are mostly mean and bad spirited. That means either there is jealousy in play, or some other agenda. I hope and pray MAGA can regain its positivity, humility, honor and generosity of spirit. Because strongly supporting Trump/Vance going forward is the winning team, especially in the rust belt. And it’s the only way we’re going save America.
To you and Rita above I give standing ovation, High fives, and high praise. Several of these very vocal people that are showing up, seemingly out of nowhere, are up to no good. At times, I will call them out accurately and harshly.
You are grossly offensive. J D and Usha are top notch people.
