I’m not sure Beans methods (using statistics) have improved baseball. In fact, I tend to believe its made baseball less interesting to young people
The Bean approach, assigning quality numbers on players, at least so far, doesn’t seem to have produced another Ted Williams, Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle, Warren Spahn, Rickie Henderson, Nolan Ryan, Barry Bonds. Those type of players captured the imagination of talented young kids who then aspired to achieve greatness in baseball. Without that young talent going into baseball and creating excitement, baseball will have a tough time keeping itself alive. Resorting then to playing baseball games in race car venues such as the article points out.
To me, that’s what Bean may have done to baseball.
To be fair, steroids have made it a lot less interesting to me. My dad and I used to collect baseball cards, and I still have the Jose Canseco 1987 Topps rookie, it was the jewel of my collection as a teen watching his stats climb. Then the whole performance enhancing drugs scandal broke (Barry Bonds included btw) and it’s like an arms race, everyone was in on it. I’m just a regular guy, and here’s a whole bunch of millionaires trying to justify their cheating to get an edge over other regular guys. Pretty much stopped watching after that.
Any affection I had for sports began to die when Cassius Clay and Lew Alcindor changed their names. Followed by the MLB strike. And don’t forget the Munich Olympics.

I have sung with a choir at a small Methodist church in my little town for 5 years. Would return to my Baptist church for the preaching after we did our song. Joined the church June 2023. Had to get a new FB page when I was locked out, so have people from the Meth. church on my new page. Just recently choir director clicked a ‘like’ on Michelle Obama’s picture on my page. I’m gone! Would be starting new year next week with the choir but I have to give up singing in the choir because I can’t respect anyone who likes Michelle Obama. Many teachers at the church so I imagine there are other people who would Like Moo!chelle if they were on my FB page. I’m just sad that I have to stop singing with the choir and that people who call themselves Christians can call also believe in what democrats stand for.
I too have lost all my group singing opportunities, I miss it. But don’t be lukewarm.

1. Come to find out, according to the kid himself, it was made up. The kid said he didn’t have an interest in musicals at four years old, he didn’t even understand what they were.

From what I understand that kid no longer speaks to his dad and they had/have a very contentious relationship. It is possible he is saying that to throw some shade on his dad.

My best guess is Canada, if she at all is a dual citizen. If she ever wanted to be a citizen of India, she’d have to give up US citizenship, and vice versa. India-US treaty forbids dual citizenship in either country for their citizens respectively. I don’t know about Jamaica-US treaty regarding citizenship though. Thank you.
