(Politico) – Delegates to the Democratic convention could begin voting on the party’s presidential and vice presidential nominees as early as next week, under a draft plan released Monday by the Democratic National Committee.
The proposal is scheduled to be taken up on Wednesday by members of the DNC’s Convention rules committee.
Such a timeline, if it were implemented, could result in Kamala Harris, President Joe Biden’s endorsed successor, selecting her running mate by the middle of next week.
Harris, who announced her own bid just 24 hours ago, has already effectively cleared the field of would-be challengers. She’s drawn a cascade of endorsements, from former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to every Democratic governor in the country, many of whom have their own national ambitions.
In a call with reporters Monday night, the DNC previewed their nomination rules, which they pledged would represent a “transparent, swift and orderly process,” said DNC Chair Jaime Harrison. The DNC committed to a virtual nomination process back in May, defending against any Republican-backed legal challenges that might keep them off the ballot, particularly in Ohio.
“We will deliver a presidential nominee by Aug. 7 of this year,” Harrison added.
The DNC laid out three qualifications to be considered for the nomination: A candidate must file a formal declaration of candidacy with the DNC, meet party and legal qualifications to be president and secure at least 300 delegate signatures, no more than 50 of whom come from one state delegation. The DNC said it would provide a delegate directory to those candidates who were interested in running for the nomination.
The nomination process, depending on how many candidates qualify, will be completed between Aug. 1 and Aug. 7. (read more)

I’m afraid I have to disagree with Sundance’s prediction on Harris’s VP pick. A significant portion of the Democrat party base is young black women, wealthy white suburban women, and young college students and recent graduates who are radical progressives, proud socialists, and anti-western civilization activists. At this point, the key to winning the 2024 election is turnout. Turnout is paramount, now so more than ever before. I do not think Kelly will motivate black women and men, Hispanic women and men, and other disenfranchised voting blocks to participate in the election with a white male as her VP.
It seems like the Democrats may have found a solution, but the impact of losing support from their base will affect both down-ballot candidates and the top of the ticket. My argument about voter turnout is based on the idea that Democrats tend to be very passionate about their beliefs. Many see Joe’s exit from the race as being forced, leaving some traditional Democrats feeling unhappy. Many Democrats may choose to stay home and not vote in this election.

Who is Kamala Harris?
We hear a constant stream of opinion from a variety of sources that Kamala Harris is a dumb bunny and will be easy to beat.
Not hardly. Now that Harris is the anointed presidential nominee, she will suddenly become very articulate and adept at throwing out a stream of platitudes, lies, and hate-filled invective which is music to the ears of the true blue Democratic Party voter base. Harris doesn’t need to be an intellectual heavyweight concerning the issues, nor even attempt to present herself as one. The voter base she needs to mobilize doesn’t care about the details of the policies she is pushing.

Kamala Harris can be just as effective at these tasks as anyone else who might have been installed as the Democrat’s 2024 nominee. Especially so if she becomes the sitting president before election day.
Kamala Harris is an actress who can play any political acting role her puppet masters assign to her. In addition to the election fraud services of Eric Holder, Mark Elias, and James Clyburn — Kamala Harris now has two billion dollars of dark money behind her with which to finance her next political movie. She also has a team of expert propaganda script writers at her side who will be programming her every move and who will be coaching her before every speech.

Several factors may have come together to place Kamala Harris at the top of the ticket. At the head of the list of reasons is the strong possibility that Joe Biden is known by top Democratic Party insiders to be terminally ill and in all probability will not survive until election day. Assuming Joe Biden either resigns or passes away in the next few months, Harris then becomes the strongest candidate simply for the powerful advantages of presidential incumbancy.
I also think the party that obsesses about skin color, gender, etc. knows a large loyal segment of their voters (black women) will be super pissed if they passed over Kamala, especially for another white guy.
The demons count on black women not only for their votes, but for their ballot harvesting/counting in the urban districts of swing states.
The reality is Kamala might only be about 25% black, but for the identity obsessed dems that’s good enough, especially since it seems Big Mike isn’t interested.

I completely understand your point about the campaign funds but if they really wanted to transfer the funds to a different candidate, they would do it – I mean, they don’t play by the rules and what’s more, who would prosecute them? I suspect they found a way to get comfortable with her – the “clans” are fighting a bit what with the Clintons / Abedin/Soros backing her. The question is does she offer believability?

It doesn’t matter where her parents were born, she was born in California, she is a natural-born citizen. But this is a good reason to end birth tourism. It’s really not good if two people from other countries come to the US and the woman gives birth to a baby who can then go on to become President. Imagine if two terrorists from Afghanistan came here and did that. I know birth tourism was one of Trump’s issues before, I haven’t heard him talk about it lately but I hope he can end it.

A later Court decision codified the definition in the early 1800’s.

One way the cheat works is by having polling numbers that show Dems are more popular than they are. There needs to be a concerted effort by Trump supporters to somehow participate in these polls so that they cannot use bogus poll numbers as a justification for a result due to cheating.

Regardless, practically speaking, the question may be moot in the short term because of how long the Federal Election Commission takes to adjudicate complaints. I don’t understand how this was the plan all along. If that were the case, then getting rid of President Mushroom earlier and having her be president longer would make sense. I don’t believe Obama has endorsed her yet, either, has he? Any long-term plan must adjust to emerging conditions and events. I’ve always thought Joe Biden had an agreement with the puppet masters made in 2020 that he would be a one term president. Later on in Biden’s term, a complication developed wherein the Biden crime family reneged on the original agreement and it became necessary to force them out.
I think Joe and Jill hung on as long as they possibly could and then a combination of Joe’s quickly declining health and the growing pressure from party leaders to vacate the premises forced a return to the original agreement. But that happened very late in the game.

Anyone who accepts the VP nomination will do so only if he or she is reasonably confident of being installed as Vice President on January 20th of 2025. Kamala Harris had to have been told in 2020 that she was certain to become Vice President if she joined the Biden ticket. She will be offering similar assurances to anyone the puppet masters select as her VP running mate.
