As more investigative details of the attempted Trump assassination surface, some alarming information is surfacing.
[PENNSYLANIA] – BUTLER, Pa. — Channel 11 news uncovered dramatic new details Monday in the moments leading up to the assassination attempt on former president Donald Trump. According to multiple law enforcement sources, Thomas Crooks was spotted by law enforcement on a roof nearly 30 minutes before shots were fired that injured Trump, killed a former fire chief, and injured two others in the crowd.
Channel 11′s Nicole Ford confirmed that Beaver County’s ESU team had eight members at the rally, including snipers and spotters. According to Ford’s sources, one of them noticed a suspicious man on a roof near the rally at 5:45 p.m., called it in and took a picture of the person. We have learned from our sources the person in that picture is Thomas Crooks. We’re told it’s not clear if Crooks had a gun with him at that point.
According to multiple sources, a law enforcement officer had also previously seen Crooks on the ground and called him in as a suspicious person with a picture prior to 5:45 p.m. Our sources tell us an officer checked the grounds for Crooks at that point but did not see him where the first picture was taken. I’m thinking he had some online encouragement by our friends in the intelligence community and was told that the building wouldn’t be secure, and that he could access the roof by ladder. Doesn’t make sense that he’d just randomly show up at the rally, with a rifle, and be lucky enough to find an unsecured building and a ladder he could use to access the roof. Whether he succeeds or not, snipers will take him out so he can’t talk. He had to know ahead of time that he’d be able to use that building and that there’d be a ladder.

The ladder I saw in a photo, the day of, looked like it was structurally part of the building. Painted the same color as the wall, even.
Also, speaking as someone who was a hacky-sack-playing teen and twentysomething, there’s an easy way onto just about any roof, without needing a ladder at all. Pipes, fences, structural ladders, electrical conduit, AC units, dumpsters, etc. Where there’s a will, there’s usually a way.

As for “security” I once got past 4 locked doors, by simply walking about 1 1/2 steps behind the security guard, as he unlocked and walked through the doors, I was right behind him.

An FR commenter suggested the shooter burned his elbows on the hot roof when he set up for the shot, reducing his accuracy. (He was wearing a t-shirt.) Maybe he went up the night before to check the shot and didn’t realize how hot it would be during the day.

He was trying to get on the school shooting team but was excluded/denied because he was a lousy shooter. The team apparently uses a 200 yard range. So, since it was not at the school he probably used the same range for practice. You don’t usually get on those sorts of teams unless you handload custom rounds on your own time. The fact that he bought retail ammo tells you 1) he wasn’t in the practice routine sitting on a thousand rounds or so in reserve, and 2) he was never going to get the accuracy for a shooting team. That retail X193 stuff usually prints between 2 and 4 MOA (a bit over 2-4 inches) at 100 yards in a normal AR retail barrel. I presume he was attempting F-class performance https://www.ssusa.org/content/getting-started-in-f-class-competition/, which just doesn’t happen with his equipment.
You don’t need an agency. You need to shoot a lot. Then, shoot more. Then, shoot more than that. Then, face a week or two of extreme frustration when something mechanical or ballistically screws up, then start again. Everything becomes automatic–whatever is in that reticle gets hit. It is just friggin’ automatic.
I could show you our Sheriff’s so-called swat team targets they leave in the trash can. You don’t want to see them. Many are ex-mill, so I am told. So, it ain’t necessarily the training (they do have excellent internal and external ballistic theory training), it’s the shooting.
