He hears a shot, looks up outside his scope, then goes back and shoots.
Was he the man agent who neutralized shooter. Seemed like his gun was out of position from the shock of assassin’s shots.

If the sniper was not completely aware of every location where LEOs were and were not positioned then he wasn’t briefed adequately, and/or didn’t have proper coms with whoever was in charge of the entire site.

now, I am not a long distance shooter. But I do watch birds using a scope or binocs. the surest way to lose the bird is to acquire him in the scope, then take your head away. when you come back to the scope he is gone.

Really. I thought that’s EXACTLY what snipers did? Neutralize threats. He wasn’t dressed in their colors and wasn’t in communication with anyone. He would have signaled he was going on the roof to one of his colleagues if he was part of their team. Otherwise you know you’re seen as a threat. You just don’t do that.
I got “scoped” by a security sniper once when I went to a hotel balcony to take photos at a big event. I was more than 300 yards away. Fortunately they could see I only had cameras and long lenses and wasn’t a bad guy. Only found out about it when later an officer told me they had been watching. Point being: someone SHOULD have had eyes on that building and the others around it. That’s their job.
Bingo. It should never have gotten that far to begin with, but if it did, the sniper’s job is to neutralize before the action. NO OFFICIAL LEO would have been bear crawling up the roof… that alone, and the witnesses who were calling it out, should have been enough to radio in the kill order.
in 1994 I was in DC with elderly mother and two teenage boys. we had a set of opera glasses and stood across from the White House looking at and discussing the watchers on the roof of the WH. within 10 min a guy in a suit was standing next to us just looking and listening.
This was not even a good pretense they put up. So sloppy if they wanted us to believe it. Hollywood does better.

1) At 9 seconds, sniper (closest to us) lifts head from spotting scope
2) Then immediately puts eye back to scope
3) As his eye gets on his scope the assassin fires first shot
4) Sniper closest to us DOES NOT FIRE BACK but lifts head again and ‘accidentally’ knocks his rifle askew
5) Then he LIFTS HEAD FROM SCOPE, AND KEEPS IT LIFTED, AS ASSASSIN FIRES MORE SHOTS AT TRUMP
6) As 3-5 happens, his spotter (to sniper’s right) ALSO DOES NOT FIRE but instead SLIDES DOWN ROOF AND AWAY FROM HIS RIFLE/SPOTTER SCOPE.

What it looks like to me is they might have both been focused on some different potential threat (tunnel vision,) then heard shots, popped their heads up to scan for the actual shooter (different from the potential threat or distraction they had both been tracking,) then engaged.
They needed to be focused on the same thing; one’s the spotter. The only thing that makes me disagree is how little the sniper moved his rifle when he did finally engage. It doesn’t look like there’s enough movement for him to completely realign and it looks like he fired at his original target. It was flinching and ducking. Recoil does not knock you down if you are a highly trained sniper who practices. You learn to deal with recoil so that you can stay on target.
I was on a police sniper team. If you are shooting a 30.o6, a .220, .270, there is very little recoil that you cannot deal with. You hardly notice it with a .223 or .270. Both long range, flat shooting rifles.
Check again. It was a flinch as he looked up to see if what he thought he was seeing, was actually what he was seeing.

It appears the shooter was on the roof of a private business, AGR International, that is located adjacent to the fairgrounds where the rally was going on.
Probably the Secret Service only had people on the fairgrounds itself and did not go to the trouble to post agents outside the property. Negligence, sloppiness, laziness.
I can’t really tell the timing from the video. Hard to tell which rifle is going off and when. One thing is clear. If that SS agent returned fire, then he was certainly already looking right at him well before the very first shot rang out.

I was just thinking about the Ruby Ridge & Waco crap & thought the same.
Not necessariy a good thing, but the difference in the mindset of the “snipers” & their actions are kind of striking, to say the least. Horuchi had a woman with a kid in her arms who was apparently un-armed, & shot without hesitation from how I understand things;
while here in this instance, there is an Armed assassin trying to take out a POTUS candidate ( regardless of his being former or not)& there is hesitation, by what appears to be not one, but two sniper/spotter team members, and they seem to not be doing well with the “shoot”.
Many questions on the disparities, in MY mind anyway.

How this man got that close to President Trump with a rifle in broad daylight is an absolute failure by a security force.
President Trump is still alive because instead of aiming center mass the shooter took an attempt at a head shot.
Whoever this latest version of Stephen Paddock is they hired an amateur for this attempt.
Well, center-mass would have hit ballistic plating, which the shooter likely knew. He was wearing what looks like a US Army veteran’s T-shirt. Likely trained, and possibly made to “stare at goats” if you know the reference.

I’ll stick with my original post. The patsy on the roof was an amateur. There’s plenty of rifle rounds that will penetrate a so called bulletproof vest. If he was a pro he would have brought the proper gear and not made his job harder.

It’s entirely possible the Secret Service sniper did see the shooter but couldn’t positively identify him as a threat and hesitated pulling the trigger. That makes more sense to me than this conspiracy theory nonsense that they were waiting for him to shoot first.
