However, someone controlling the schedule did decline a meeting with Senate Select Committee on Intelligence (SSCI) Chairman Mark Warner, who is also the lead spokesperson/protector for the Intelligence Community, which is not really a good idea since the “seven ways to Sunday” group don’t like to be ignored.

As much as I dislike Mark Warner, I do appreciate the transparency of the coded messaging he presents. So, let’s summarize it.
From the position of the intelligence community (IC) Joe Biden is less important than their priority of ensuring President Trump does not win reelection.
It is an existential and/or zero-sum battle from the standpoint of the IC. If Trump wins, they could be destroyed; ergo, Biden or someone, anyone, must defeat Trump. The IC doesn’t care who removes the threat Trump represents – that’s the “strongest path forward” part; however, Trump must be defeated.
Warner says Biden must take a meeting with the IC “broader group of voices,” and listen to them tell Biden -in person- what the real priority is. Joe Biden is less important than removing the threat Trump represents to them.
This meeting would essentially represent the “offer you cannot refuse”, “or else” meeting, that Biden is trying to avoid. The IC is not going to be ignored, so sayeth Mark Warner.
Was that message to Joe or the people backing him?

I was there when they gerrymandered Prince William County, a reliably red county after the 2010 census into 3 different voting districts. It used to be one. Eastern Prince William County became part of the 11th District, attached to Fairfax County. I was on the ground floor of Chris Perkin’s campaign to unseat first termer Gerry Connolly who used to be part of the Fairfax county local government until he ran for congress. ALL of the Republican voters in Eastern PWC were disenfranchised because there weren’t enough of us to overcome blue Fairfax. Perkins didn’t stand a chance. It was statistically impossible for a republican to win in the 11th district at that time. The middle part of PWC ended up in the 1st Congressional disrict from Cardinal Drive all the way down into Hampton Roads, which was generally at odds with and competing with the priorities of NOVA. The Western third of PWC was attached to the 10th Congressional District and Louden County. I’m glad I left and never looked back. I left the saame year Eric Cantor, the House Majority leader got primaried right out of his seat in the 7th district.

Perhaps a great many of them regret that and their anger deepens as they realize how they too were used so cynically. Was that why they ever got into the intelligence racket all those many years ago?
Perhaps a sufficient number have had enough time to reflect and remember their zeal FOR America, to be part of the good guys in the Cold War era. Perhaps inspired when they were young by the role models in literature and film; it was something that would use every capacity and skill they had to offer. A dark age for intelligence, these years of using intelligence sources not to protect the United States of America from foreign threats but to be used against American citizens. No, that’s not why they signed up.
