A couple of quick hot points from the 2024 presidential race and Trump side of the equation.
♦ First, we can ignore all of the typical pre-debate banter about who is doing what in the lead-up to the Trump v Biden debate. Every cycle the debate narratives are pushed for clicks and attention; almost all of it is manufactured nonsense and false.
Actual, professional, presidential debate teams do not leak information about their debate prep activity to the media. The only information released is from campaign players who want the other side to see, hear and waste time preparing for imaginary nonsense. All of the pre-debate stuff, banter, punditry and column inches are one big mind game of misinformation. Ignore all of it.
♦ Second, the DC system that created Mike Pence as the best option for Trump 2016 is the same system pushing Vance, Rubio and Burgum for 2024. [Example HERE] The intent with Pence 2016 is the same intent with Vance, Rubio and Burgum ’24. I’m cautiously optimistic President Trump is well aware of this.
Seriously, how many times have you heard me repeat the warning: NEVER TRUST A NEVER-TRUMPER. Yet, time and time again people get wooed back, deny their instincts, dismiss the intellectual reality and drop their guard. Every single time the Trump supporters get burned.
This is not complicated folks. The Never-Trumpers do not change position, have an awakening, trip over some “come to Jesus” moment, engage in self-reflection, or otherwise evolve to stop thinking that Donald Trump is the end of their world. Never-Trumpers espoused that opinion, because Never-Trumpers saw value in holding that opinion. It is simple and should be accepted.
Those who claimed Trump was/is horrible, terrible, egotistical, evil and all the other adjectives to describe their sentiments, do not suddenly have a change in perspective. What changes them are changes in the instructions they are given. They begin praising Trump because there is new value in stating that opinion. NEVER, EVER Trust a never-Trumper. The stakes are too high.
♦ Third, apparently the secret service is increasing the security detail around President Trump.
Kelly O’Donnell: “Secret Service is ready to add new protectee detail for Trump running mate. USSS is also increasing size of Trump detail beyond level for formers. Official said, “The Secret Service detail has been bulked up by additional special agents and support teams to ensure the highest level of security for not only the event sites but the travel in between events.” (source)
Generally speaking, the current DC system operators, that are referred to as the ‘Biden administration’, have no motivation to protect Donald Trump other than their sense of personal responsibility to the nation President Trump represents.
Given the effort that Tucker Carlson has put into mainstreaming thoughts around the ‘killing of Trump‘, I am cautious to view any Secret Service effort through the prism of professional altruism.
I pray for the safety of President Trump and his family daily, because I am very clear-eyed about the nature of the enemy he faces.
I truly doubt CNN would release any gotcha items before the ‘debate’.
I bet the don’t release the debate questions they already gave to the Biden team either.

It’s disappointing that J.D. Vance is a Never Trump / Deep State stooge. I read his book “Hillbilly Elegy” long before he entered politics, and his description of his working class poor Southern white Scots-Irish family is the perfect demographic for a Trump supporter.
The part of his book that gave me pause, however, is that he went to Ivy League Yale law school. It was apparent that he had been compromised by the East Coast elites. So even as he knows exactly for whom Trump speaks … he no longer identifies with that poor white trash. He’s one of the beautiful people now.

Retired Magistrate here: I was brought up by German-Irish parents; very lower middle class raised in Southern Ohio and eventually moved to the Central Ohio area. With that background there is no way I could ever have been admitted to an Ivy League undergraduate school or Law School.
So I worked two jobs and put myself through night business school and night law school. Vance must have had some pretty good connections to get into Yale Law School; connections that made him a Never Trumper in the first place.
Although he appears to have changed his opinion of President Trump, it troubles me that Charlie Kirk and others have really started to push Vance now. I have to keep reminding myself that those connections that got him into Yale own a piece of him and expect to be paid back.
Hopefully, President Trump will select Dr. Ben Carson as his running mate.
If he’s healthy enough, Richard Grenell would be a good choice too.

At the time Vance would have applied to Yale, ivy league schools would, each year, take in some poor to middle class whites from around the country who had test scores in the top percentile. They no longer do that. So he didn’t necessarily need connections to get into Yale. He would now.

We can all be wrong at times. Vance won me over, during the senate race. Stood alone on varied topics – Ukraine futility, govt accountability, curbing immigration, and for me, a huge tell was the massive cash infusion against him when he took the polling lead – Club for Growth, etc.
Am I right? We cannot forever condemn people for being wrong, without acknowledging that opinions can and do change. If one looks at the world being presented to us vs. what we might have thought 5-10-15 years ago – have we changed our minds in a material and substantive way? I certainly assumed massive corruption, but the scale and how ubiquitous, I was not quite prepared that just about everyone is bought out.

Many that were coming from commenters that were recognized by some from same past comments.
And then there’s TC. We just watched a great interview with TC and Neil Oliver.
All.of a sudden, the ear tickling because all of liked what we heard from Oliver caused that forgetting of all of the strange past of TC, but most importantly, this narrative being pushed by TC to normalize acceptance of a Trump assassination, mulitple times mind you, and the highest profile ‘former’ MSM personality to do so.
And that is not even to remind of the often brought up TC / Putin interview where Putin nuked TC about “not you personally” when talking about the CIA blowing up Nordstream; nor TC bringing up assassination with Trump in his interview with him, not once, but three times, where Trump deftly sidestepped him at every attempt.
How how we forget such things when TC does “something good.”

BTW my favorite moment in the 2016 campaign was when Trump brought Cruz down very quickly by noting that his father, Raphael, was pictured with Lee Harvey Oswald in a “Fair Play for Cuba” rally in New Orleans the summer of ’62/63 (sorry can’t remember which yr it was!). The thing that was tricky was that the Nat’l Enquirer i.d.’d some other guy as Raphael, but Raphael’s distinctive profile and wavy hair, so obvious even 50+ years later, was in several of the shots. Cruz’s campaign collapsed within minutes, despite his protests. I had bought a copy of that tabloid earlier in the week. Looking at it online made the identification even clearer. It’s probably been erased from the internet;-) Never heard another word from old Raphael after that.
