To give some scale as to the descent into weaponized government madness that surrounds us, think about the headline.
Imagine a world where the sitting president of the United States has a national intelligence apparatus giving him advice that his political opponent, and those who support that opponent, should be considered “domestic terrorists.” Then accept that we don’t have to imagine it, because this is the reality of the current situation.
They started out by saying Trump supporters were extremists, then went through a phase normalizing government hatred by saying unmasked and unvaccinated people should be placed in camps, and now the evolution of Trump supporters and our military being the largest domestic terrorist threat.

These are documents extracted via a FOIA lawsuit against the Biden administration. Can you imagine the apoplectic “Threat to Democracy” media if these same words of advice were said by a President Trump group about supporters of Barack Obama.
Yet, it is exactly the Obama era shift to fine tune the domestic intelligence apparatus that has created this dynamic.
Barack Obama and Eric Holder did not create a weaponized DOJ and FBI; the institutions were already weaponized by the Patriot Act. What Obama and Holder did was take the preexisting system and retool it, so the weapons of government only targeted one side of the political continuum.
This point is where many people understandably get confused.

(1) The Patriot Act turned the intel surveillance radar from foreign searches for terrorists to domestic searches for terrorists.
(2) Obama/Biden then redefined what is a “terrorist” to include their political opposition.
In the era shortly after 9/11, the DC national security apparatus, instructed by Vice President Dick Cheney, was constructed to preserve continuity of government and simultaneously view all Americans as potential threats. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) were created specifically for this purpose.
After 9/11/01, the electronic surveillance system, that was originally created to monitor threats from abroad, was retooled to monitor threats inside our country. That is when all of our electronic ‘metadata’ came under federal surveillance.
That inflection point, and the process that followed, was exactly what Edward Snowden tried to point out.
What Barack Obama and Eric Holder did with that new construct was refine the internal targeting mechanisms, so that only their political opposition became the target of this new national security system.
The problems we face now as a country are directly an outcome of two very distinct points that were merged by Barack Obama. (1) The post 9/11 monitoring of electronic communication of American citizens; and (2) Obama’s team creating a fine-tuning knob that it focused on the politics of the targets. This is very important to understand if you choose to dig deep and learn the origin of how this began….

I retired from CBP in 2018. DHS was already rotten and corrupt. My notifying IA, IG, OPR (Office of Professional Responsibility) made no difference, it just brought retaliation.
At a meeting in my port in 2017 attended by about 40 CBP HQ people and port upper managers, I told them that DHS was so far down the wrong road it was no longer fixable, and instead of stopping actual threats its focus was primarily beating up and bullying its own personnel.
I had accumulated about two dozen awards over 30 years, several of them representing personal risk I voluntarily took. I threw them in the garbage. My wife git upset and retrieved three or four that comprised wooden plaques. I made knife and tool handles out of the wood.

Nothing much has changed. I am sitting about 200 yards away from a mushroom farm and processing plant here in Pennsylvania. Back in the 1970’s the INS used to show up about every six months and bust that processing plant for hiring illegal aliens.

DoD is the same way. I have a friend who recently quit her job as a government contractor. Several of the government employees weren’t coming to work and on the rare occasions they did they were incapable of performing even basic job duties.
She came to me for advice and I told her how I had reported lazy incompetent military people early in my military career. The people were removed briefly from their jobs, but retaliation swiftly followed. She took it under advisement…and decided to report it anyway.
The military head of the branch she worked in then set about trying different ways to get her fired, ultimately settling on canceling the contract funding. Two of her colleagues tried to stick up for her, and they also received formal complaints from the military officer.
The military organization itself is sick and broken. Retaliation is common. Employee turnover is rampant.
This crap is everywhere.
Oh and the military officer? I actually met her at a funeral of a guy I knew. She was as wide as she was tall, shockingly obese yet wearing a uniform. Absolutely a disgrace. I heard she got some sort of award after my friend quit.
I have been thinking a lot lately about how DHS needs to be totally disbanded. It has been an abject failure in it’s mission to secure our domestic homeland. I do not believe it can be resuscitated, nor should it be. It is a mony pit of snakes.
TSA has got to go. They have totally fallen down on the job. I would not feel safe walking into any airport in the USA, let alone get on a plane.
