on D-Day I shared a several paragraph account of my Dad’s service in North Africa, D-Day, and on to The Bulge … written by my younger brother, who was career Army until they downsized and he went into anesthesiology
well, we just lost my brother last week at age 67
he was 3 weeks on from first diagnosis of Kreutzfeld-Jakob disease, a wasting disease of the brain caused by prions (misbehaving and contagious proteins, near as I can make out)
knocked out his speech center first (still cognizant, just difficult to form words), then mobility, then a couple final days of home hospice
took him out in 4 weeks from first symptom
I’m suspicious whether Covid Vax pre-disposed him to it, a couple scientific papers suggest link to Covid disease, maybe 1 or 2 to the vax, but also a couple others that dispute a vax link
anyone have experience or strong opinion on this?

I don’t have words. So very sorry for you and your brother’s family.
My very special Uncle Mike passed from CJD at the age of 61 in 1991. It was misdiagnosed as stroke initially, but as your family experienced advanced very very quickly, which is what made them suspect CJD.
The definitive test for an accurate diagnosis is brain biopsy. Surgeons are hesitant to perform a brain biopsy because of the virulence of the prions, and the surgical team being exposed.
Things may have changed since my time in the OR, but we were taught that all instrumentation used must be discarded and destroyed- sterilization is totally ineffective in killing the prions.
My uncle’s medical team conjectured that the prions may have been present and hidden for many years, and were triggered by something – in his case the loss of his wife (my aunt) after a long bout with cancer the year before.
I think it is clear that the “vax” has been implicated in turbo cancers, blood clots, myopathies, etc.
CJD is a rare diagnosis, so it is probably difficult to gather enough data – but would you be surprised if it were implicated?

Israel Update:
-Hundreds of rockets are flying into North Israel. The worst attack since 2006.
Since 10/7 Hezbollah have been attacking Israel daily with tens of missiles and rockets and caused around a 100,000 people to move and become refugees. So yesterday Israel managed to assassinate one of the Generals who is behind it. The highest Hezbollah Commander taken out so far in this war of Attrition. This is why the North of Israel is on fire today. No Israeli casualties so far.
-Hamas rejected the American/Israeli proposal for hostage exchange. A very bad deal for Israel and fortunately they demand a complete withdraw of the IDF and end of war. A surrender. Israel gave almost everything aside for a guaranty to end the war. Blinken and Biden have been pressuring badly to end the war and guaranty the survival of Hamas. Hamas, a vile terror organization are laughing at the US with delays, weeks and months of “we like it but it’s not good enough”.
-Israel is in control of the Philadelphi Corridor , the strategic area between Gaza and Egypt. It was the “oxygen line” of Hamas with tens of tunnels that were used to smuggle munitions and weapons from Egypt. The Egyptians are complicit in the situation. Already exposed some 20 tunnels and working on demolition.
-It’s not verified but the IDF is in control of 30%-40% of Rafah in South Gaza.

Moving too slow to avoid the noise of the Democrats and US left when “civilians” get killed. In Gaza you never know if the “civilian” is really civilian since they count everyone as civilians. But the IDF is gaining strategic wins in the area.

You think this is funny – no joke. When kiddo was enrolled in her fancy private school, we moved closer to it to cut down on the commute. We had some foreign neighbors share the wall of our apartment from behind and I was using a mallot during the middle of the day to filet some chicken for our dinner and they banged on my wall so hard that my picture fell off.
Not one to shy away and not knowing who was doing the knocking – I felt bad and I took a potted plant to them to apologize. When they opened the door there was a shocked Muslim woman, who looked like she hadn’t seen another human being in eternity, and her completely out of control kids who answered the door. She made us some sort of pastry dish and offered it to us, while Savannah who was older… went to play with the boys and their dinosaurs. Those boys came out with AK47 nerf guns and were pointing them at me and my daughter. As I was speaking to the mother, they pulled the flowering potted plant out of the dirt and threw the dirt on the floor.
One night, I see the male patriarch of the group and he was in his thirties, and he was with a half dozen 20 somethings and they were moving twin mattresses into unmarked, dilapidated, vans. I immediately called the FBI as there was a new headquarters just around the corner from us in Castleton. The complex had a strict rule about no businesses being conducted within the complex. Now – I cringe thinking what “business” they were in.
About a year later, my apartment which had a downstairs entry with a walk up to our living space was broken into in broad daylight at 2 PM in the afternoon. Men in a red Dodge extend cab pick up with Michigan license plates broke into our apartment, in front of the neighbors and the carpet cleaning guys, and they didn’t steal a single thing. They made the pictures of my daughter on the wall – crooked. It took the Indianapolis Police Department 45 minutes to get there… inside the city limits. If it would have been 2 months later, we would have been home when this happened.
This is no joke. I went to an attorney to see what I could do to protect ourselves, because we paid our rent on time and had no recourse for our safety. The attorney told me to leave, buy a house, and to get armed… it would happen again. Wait until they come in and shoot to kill. We fled there.
The maintenance staff lied to my daughter and told her that they broke the window while they were fixing something – so she wouldn’t be scared. I don’t think I slept again for months.
This picture reminds me of those kids. That was about 10 or 11 years ago.

We found a little miracle in this Kildeer bird. (At least that is what we think she is.) We found this nesting little girl over the weekend and have daily gone by to see how she doing. When we first saw her, the grass was rather high… so Monday we walked into the adjacent neighborhood to find a soul who could alert the homeowners association to warn the mowers that she was there.
We were on our walk yesterday… and they had mowed!!! We had just alerted the neighbor on Monday evening, so my heart sank a little thinking we might be too late. I almost didn’t want to go because I was so moody from yesterday and couldn’t take one more piece of bad news.
We went anyway and checked on our dear girl. She was there and safe and sound on her little nest. The mowers went all around her and left a very small strip of high grass for her.
We are so grateful to the homeowner who indulged us and willingly followed us to point her out. We are grateful she followed through and reported her to the HOA, so that she could have her babies in peace. She is a gorgeous bird.
Our neighborhoods are reporting many baby fawns, and keeping everyone aware to look for these ground hiders.
We saw a half dozen baby bunnies yesterday and I marvel that the birds of prey have left them alone.
Just precious are these little babies God created. It’s the small things… sometimes very small that keep me going.

If feasible, you could go back and put those bright 3 or 4 ft tall fiberglass stakes around her nest, or some other similar way to alert the lawn cutters to continue to watch out for her. Like those utility flag ground markers.
It might be a different guy next time doing the cutting so he wouldn’t know to be on the lookout.
As you say this, Slowcobra, I saw one of those industrial mowers right next door to her as I was driving home from my office today, but I think he was contracted by that property owner next door and not in the common area (I hope!) I can see this is going to be an obsession for me!
Thought about the sticks – but then was worried about drawing attention to her. She’s off a neighborhood road, about 10 feet in on the downside of a grassy berm across from a busy neighborhood park, play space, and walking area. I want the kids and the dogs to leave her alone.
Savannah has to go to work today – so I will see if I can muster something together to safely alert.
The ground was too hard. Couldn’t get a stake into it. She looked so bloated today, like she was going to pop. She poofed out her pretty feathers at us.

Ben & Jerry’s (yes, i know about their politics and they suck, but they sold out to Unilever) put out a Tiramisu ice cream with hard chocolate ganache on top with espresso chocolate nibs. It has the ladyfinger style cookie layer in it and marscapone ice cream.
One container 1,110 calories. Ask me how I know?
If you like Tiramisu – which I do love it too much – just walk away from the ice cream. Pay the $4 to $6 and hide in front of a chick flick with it. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

I learned the hard way about jaw breakers when I was 3. Got one from the gumball machine instead of the gumball. I choked on it. Next thing I know is I’m hanging upside-down being shaken by the pharmacist till the jaw breaker popped out. Never had another jaw breaker since.

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.

Loving Lord, as the day is coming to an end, I want to thank You for being with me in all that has taken place today. I also want to lay the whole day before You, asking that you would show me if there is anything that I have done to hurt or harm another person unknowingly, or if I have done anything that is displeasing in Your sight, or quenched the work of the Spirit in me, so that I may turn away from such things in the days that lie ahead.

Heavenly Father, thank You for bringing me through this day and Lord, forgive me for the times when I have wandered outside Your best will for me, instead of trusting You implicitly.
Thank You, that You are such a gracious Shepherd to me and that You come and rescue me even when I lose my way and stray from the path that You have laid out for me.

Reading the article on, and listening to, the Tucker Carlson podcast with Steve Bannon. Though I appreciated it, I was wayyyy more interested in the podcast with Thomas Massie (R-KY).
I would highly recommend listening to the 2 hours 10 minute interview. He lives fully off the grid in Kentucky. His descriptions of interrupting quorum to prevent bad policies from being slid in under the noses of the American people. He discusses enlisting the help of The Squad to get his policy that would keep the government’s hands off the kill switches on our cars (by 2026 folks – on all new cars)… is really interesting.
With his background, I hope Trump pulls him for the Department of Energy and infrastructure. It’s a worthy listen to and quite humorous – but with incredibly serious undertones.

“Yield yourselves servants to obey; let your heart therefore be perfect with the LORD our God; let your heart keep My commandments; let your heart retain My words; let them not depart from your eyes . . . ”
When we think of the meaning of the words, Yield, and, Let; it’s not a matter of ability, but of willingness and obedience, and moral choice, and a decisive course of action. Yield means, to be subordinate and give way to the will of another; in this case, the Holy Spirit and the word of God commanded us to do. Let means this as well, but also implies allowance and release; as in releasing the heart and the conscience to do what God made them to do, to set boundaries for our thoughts and actions, according to love and personal integrity.
We have God’s pledge for our complete redemption in Jesus having saved us from our sins, and giving the Holy Spirit into our hearts to help us. What our Father in heaven has begun, He will not rest until He has finished. Our part is to reciprocate worthily, the same as Jesus has come in love and completely spending Himself to save us; so it is fitting for us to respond in the same way, and to the same degree.
Where did Jesus draw the line? Did He get all red in the face and offended, and storm away in a fit of anger, when He was constantly opposed and contradicted? When He was hounded, and harassed, lied about, and falsely accused, and every wicked thing said about Him falsely? No; Jesus did never draw the line for where He would only endure so much, and then it was too much.
Jesus is the King of saints, and so, the leader and completer of faith, meekness, kindness and gentleness, truth and perseverance, and of holding onto His single-minded constancy in the Spirit, to do and finish all that the Father has sent Him to do and to teach. And so, when he is our King, then we are His people and His servants, for being like Him, and doing as He has done: for all the same reasons, and with all the same vigilance of spirit.
Yielding ourselves to obey, and letting our hearts keep and do His words; should make us think about how we function as spirits, and living souls, and with that, how our bodies are supposed to work in relation to our spirit and soul in God. For example; when we are tempted to sin, the most deceitful and cruel aspect of the temptation, is that the devil tries to persuade us that these things are coming from our own heart: our own heart where the Holy Spirit dwells! Is that really what it is? The Bible says, that when we are tempted, we are drawn away by our own lusts [for what is forbidden]; and that it is in the giving in to the lusts, when it becomes sin; and we fail the grace of God.
Our lusts are not our heart; neither are our emotions the spirit. Think about what’s all going on in you, when you are tempted: passions and feelings, for example, are screaming and demanding control of our thoughts and our will, to do what God has clearly commanded us not to do. Now while this is happening, we are feeling the danger and trembling with the alarm of our conscience, against doing the wrong. That is the place where we yield ourselves to obey the commandment, and let our hearts keep His commandments; or else ignor the alarms and the convictions of our conscience, in order to cauterize our hearts as with a hot iron, in order to render it past feeling, so we can sin without consequences.
Now the temptation doesn’t have to be only about the passions of the flesh; but will most times be in the realms of our separation and sanctification, and how we are not of the world even as Jesus is not of the world. These things will come in all kinds of costumes, and flattering speeches. They will come in the form of natural relations, even those closest unsaved family members, who tell you that nothing is more important than family; in an attempt, (knowing or unknowingly) to label you as a “fanatic” or shame you as if you have committed the most heinous and unforgivable crime, to put Jesus and religion before family. What did Jesus teach us about this?
He first of all taught us to know and understand whose we really are; and so, to have our treasure as always in our heart, and before our eyes; and to hate everything and every one who would cause us to turn away from Him. Again, Jesus is our model and example in all these things. Why is the first of all the commandments, to love the LORD our God with all our heart, with all our mind, with all our soul, and with all our might; and our neighbor as our self? And why too did Jesus solemnly warn us about counting the cost, saying, If anyone come to Me, and hate not his father, mother, brother sister, wife, children, and his own life also; he cannot be My disciple? And what does that have to do with, Whosoever does not take up his cross and follow Me, he cannot be My disciple?
For the same reason as why He said, that Whosoever hears these sayings of Mine and does them, I will liken him to a wise man; who dug deep and founded his house upon a rock: and when the rains came, and the streams arose, and the winds blew, and beat upon his house, it fell not, because it was founded upon a rock: but whoever hears these my sayings, and does not do them, shall be likened to a foolish man, (a stupid moron), who built his house upon the sand; and when the rains came, and the streams arose, and the winds blew, and beat upon the house, it fell, and great was the fall of it.
In Matthew 11, Jesus had gone to the towns where His disciples were from, and where the most of His mighty works had taken place; to teach and to preach there, because that for all that they had been so blessed and privileged to witness, they still did not repent. As He was teaching and preaching to them, the Holy Spirit had moved upon John while he was in the prison, to send two of his disciples to Jesus, and to ask Him, Are you the One who is to come, or do we look for another? This was not only for the sake of John’s disciples, to get them to Jesus; but for a witness to the dull and careless, complacent and impenitent.
Matthew 11:12 “And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force.”
They had taken the decision to do nothing; probably just contenting themselves with going to Synagogue, and keeping the traditions of the Rabbis: but taking to heart what all they had heard John preaching, and had seen and heard Jesus doing and teaching, in such a way as would make others think they had lost it, or gone fanatic; no way! They could be happy enough with themselves, and enjoy the “religious feelings” of going with the crowds to see Jesus, and the miracles He did, and hear His teachings: but that was as far as they would go with it. In other words, no repentance, and no conversion.
Ezekiel 33:32 “And, lo, you are unto them as a very lovely song of one that has a pleasant voice, and can play well on an instrument: for they hear your words, but they do them not.”
Matthew 13:20-21 “But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that hears the word, and immediately with joy receives it; yet has he not root in himself, but endures for a while: for when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, by and by he is offended.”
Yielding and letting, in whatever direction we take, will mean doing violence to the one in order to seize upon the other. The way of the Spirit is contrary to the way of the flesh; and the two are at war against each other. If we are to walk in the Spirit, we must do violence to the will of the flesh, and its passions and desires; in order to seize the things of the Spirit. If we would rather force ourselves to lay hold upon sin, to satisfy its desires; then we cannot but do violence to the spirit and conscience, as an act of war against the Spirit of Christ. We cannot serve God and mammon.
