Last week President Trump proposed a new tax policy he would work to get passed by the legislative branch. President Trump wants to eliminate income taxes on tips given by customers to servers and service employees.
Speaking in Nevada, President Trump remarked, “so this is the first time I’ve said this, and for those hotel workers and people that get tips you’re going to be very happy because when I get to office, we are going to not charge taxes on tips people (are) making,” Trump told a crowd of thousands.
President Trump said he would “do that right away, first thing in office,” and noted in his remarks that he would seek legislation in Congress to make the change. “You do a great job of service; you take care of people and I think it’s going to be something that really is deserved.” WATCH:
LAS VEGAS (Reuters) -Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump told a rally in Las Vegas on Sunday that he would seek to end taxation of income from tips, a direct appeal to service workers in the swing state of Nevada, which polls suggest is leaning his way ahead of the Nov. 5 election. In addition to being a great financial and economic policy for the middle-class and working-class service industry, this position also solidifies a value in cash against the creation of a federal reserve digital currency.
Additionally, someone on the Twitter had a great idea for when you leave a tip at a restaurant.
Write on the restaurant check: “Vote Trump – Earn tax free tips” :))

Could have done that years ago while struggling to put myself through school. Good idea.
As my dear stepdad used to say in certain situations:
“Aboutatime!”
One step closer to abolishing the income tax which the Uniparty uses to enslave and emasculate us
Outstanding!
The best idea is to eliminate the personal income tax altogether. The personal income tax is nothing but government theft of one’s labor.
Solve a lot of problems for sure.
Do one better.
Tariff imports and end all ‘free’ trade deals. Win/win for the USA, raise revenue from the ones importing into the US market and/or create more economic activity by incentivizing domestic manufacturing within the United States.
That, along with customs duties, exactly how the government obtained revenues before 1913.
Aye.
Tariffs and customs duties would have no small impact on reducing those half trillion per year trade imbalances with both China and the EU. Not so good for the looters of course, but who cares what they want anyway?
It was sure knocking a dent in it when Trump imposed them and our exports exploded.
I purchased some china and glassware in the UK many years ago.
They shipped it to their facility in NJ and then to me.
I paid no custom duties.
I learned the hard way not to bring anything in yourself.
What a rip off.
Well come on now…
The US of Oligarchs finagled a way sideline the states & purchase & control the US Senate with 17A;
To enrich themselves further with the federal reserve act;
And created the mechanism to make US citizens pay for the gubmint to service the oligarchy’s needs with 16A.
1913 was a very productive year for them.
That was a nice snarky way to explain that.
And I like it. 👍
Thing is, it’s going to hurt when all their deeds catch up to them all.
Sevenfold retribution even? Dunno.
But what I do know is that sooner or later, God is going to cut them down.
Wish I’d seen this first. I just posted my thoughts about this – but in my opinion it is theft of one’s life!
Can we add property taxes to this thievery list?
Texas is working hard on eliminating property taxes. We need to keep the democrats away from the Republican controlled house and neuter Dade Phelan as speaker.
Income tax’s purpose is to prevent us from getting ahead! It’s a control mechanism.
Yes it is! See taxation is a mechanism used to reduce the amount of money in circulation in order to hide the real rate of inflation. See the true definition of inflation is expansions of the supply of money, price increases follow as a result of monetary expansion. The entire Federal Reserve taxation and inflation system is a MASSIVE scam designed for one purpose, to enrich a few at the expense of many.
There’s a special kind of sociopathic mind that makes you pay for your own & your country’s destruction.
Love the idea as well.
Counter argument- If tips aren’t counted as income, they will not count towards your social security. Is there a way to address this issue
pay taxes on income, each and every person. That, or pay VAT.
A VAT would put the US one step closer to what the EU is doing now.
The income tax is not going away either and the federal government must be salivating at instituting a VAT and keeping the income tax. See ‘carbon’ taxes.
Ask anyone you know across the pond if they are better off with a VAT?
I didn’t say I want it. Everyone pays taxes at some level. Pick your poison, income or consumption. Can’t be both, but we all pay.
Death and taxes are certainties, same as it ever was.
Taxes should be addressed differently and severely reduced with President Trump. USA is a huge world market consumer and out of country products should pay extra for access. US government should stop giving away taxpayer assets.
Should be, but that is not what is. Change does not come easy when so many benefit from the status quo.
Which why more commonsense policies like those of President Trump gives many of those looters the vapors.
Why not?
We didn’t have either before 1913 and did just fine.
Then along came the 1st version of Demicrat facist….Woodrow Wilson.
Down hill slide from there
I wish I could be sure of that. Or were they always telling us a bunch of porkies?
We did great back then, before the bankers got their filthy hands on things!!!
Not to offend, but your comment is kind of a defeatist position.
Just because that is “the way things have been”, does NOT mean that is the way things need to go going forward.
Even in situation where it is not a “that is the way things have been”, but rather a “that is what everyone else it doing”, is ALSO an unacceptable argument. (And there IS a difference in the two phrases.)
“Curtilage, officer” and THAT is why you cannot go into my out shed without a warrant!!
What makes anyone think that countries with VAT don’t have extortionate income taxes too?
This is another reason why EU members make great examples.
Our personal Bills should come before taxes. Nobody should be impoverished, or lose their house, or car…. because the Govt’ thinks we owe them first.
No VAT ever!
That is a sure fire leftist creation so the subjectiveness of the ‘value’ is left up to some government liar who over values to extract even more taxes.
And then, if they have eliminated the income tax, wait a few years and they will restore the income tax AND keep the VAT as well. There has never been a tax that politicians didn’t like.
Investing in Social Security is such a bad investment. Take the cash and invest it in something worthwhile. However, bank savings accounts are not worthwhile either – when the wolf of Bidinflation is raging.
Sticking the money under the mattress, for example, is absolutely no worse than anything Social Security does with the money the stole from you.
OMG, an instant relief for struggling workers and you’re worry about how it affects something that might not even exist in the future.
I might add that up until a few years back, those who made tips were never taxed on it, and yet they somehow managed.
And right now, this is a way to obtain votes.
Puhleese
….and then wake people up to the danger of digital currency. People who otherwise just try to get along daily
When I bartended in the late 70’s, my hourly wage was $2.89. You declared a minimum tip for tax purposes & you bet I lived on tips. If you didn’t give good service, you didn’t get tipped much. It has a way of making you work harder, which is a win-win for employer/employee.
❣️
All income, no matter how acquired, is subject to the income tax, even tips. Those who worked for tips back when you’re talking about, were still required to report their income from tips, but since the government had no way of verifying, most, if not all, would under report.
I think it was under the “Read My Lips” Bush administration, they passed the law that service workers who worked for tips would be taxed at 8% sales, no matter how much in tips they collected.
My brother, a retired bartender o 30 years at a country club, made out like a fat rat, back in those “good ol’ days”–always had a pocketful of folding money.
With today’s widespread use of debit and credit cards, easily traceable, I always tip in cold hard cash. And I strongly support Trump’s proposal: “Any cut in taxes is always a good thing.”- Milton Friedman.
Save a percentage of your tips.
I wouldn’t push the envelope too far. Depending upon your age, there may not be social security by the time you’re old enough to claim it.
Use of W-4 form to elect in or out.
Most in that workplace value the cash now, need it now.
Will SS be there for them in 30 yes? Age old question.
If diciplined and can…..start savings with it
Outstanding!!!
For everyone exempt from taxes someone must pay more. Half our citizens pay no federal taxes. We need more no less taxpayers. Trump is wrong on this one but heck who can bat 1000. Go MAGA.
That’s not true. Of the tax cut generates more economic activity, which this tax cut will do, then the tax cut will create more revenue. So one less tax payer will create more tax revenue. It is not a zero sum game. Lower taxes =. Ore tax revenue – it’s called the Laffer Curve.
Sorry for the spelling errors – I’ve had one too many martini’s at Drunk Sinatra in Athens Greece. Good martini’s too.
“Set ’em up, Joe . . . one for my baby . . . and one more for the road . . . “
I’m jealous – drunk martinis sounds great
***I’m not as think as you drunk I am***
And before the Laffer Curve we saw economic growth from the tax cuts during the Kennedy administration.
There is a point of diminishing returns. We know where that is. Total tax receipts are always going to be somewhere around 20% of GDP, regardless of who is providing it.
Diminishing returns is when I quit working because they taxed me too much. Then they get nothing and I suffer too. Point being. we are overtaxed, anyone who says otherwise works on the dole, or gets everything free.
Yup, stats show after plus or minus 20% taxes….people do things to stop taxes…..i.e. even less economic activity which accelerates the lefts economic morass
John your idea taken to a logical conclusion would be no taxpayers would pay all the taxes needed.
A better understanding of the Laffer Curve would bring the logical conclusion that too much tax will have a negative impact on tax revenue, just as too little tax reduces tax revenue.
I respectfully disagree that they need more of our tax dollars to spend. The politicians are addicts and will never go in for the cure.
Unfortunately, the cold-turkey approach will see us normals suffer the delirium tremors, not the high-flying pols. They will flee to Switzerland when the music stops.
It should be clear by now that having “tax dollars” means nothing as regards spending.
Exactly what Rush L always said. Politicians when handed money will spend it and thrn demand even more…..for our own good of course😏
No we don’t!
Only leftist and gubmint parasites want more taxes. 👀
We need less government workers and programs to pay for.
And we can raise revenues with customs and tariffs pre 1913 style.
Flat tax.
Alternate solution – government should spend less
We need the government to stop spending so much of our money on useless unconstitutional bilge.
If we hadn’t let the Federal Government metastasize, it would still be runnable on tarrifs and duties on foreign goods alone and we wouldn’t even need an IRS because most people wouldn’t be directly interacting with anything taxable.
The Founders said the best federal government was one you could shut down for a year and no one would notice it’s absence. They had the right idea. Defense, international trade and treaties, court of last resort, and maintaining interstate commerce routes… other than that the Federal Government should be nonexistent.
…..and immigration law and control
Brilliant move to counter the Digital Ball and Chain.
Make Cash Great Again
The servers deserve this break and indirectly one leaving the tip feels better that their tip money is worth more to the recipient.
I tip well and in cash. Some restaurants have a different worker come pick up your payment and that really bugs me . I want to tip my server directly in cash.
I prefer cash too and I don’t trust the server gets the tip is they don’t pick it up directly.
Tip the server when they bring you the check. An estimate of the total tab, and an accurate idea of what the tip should be, can be reached before the server brings the check. Hand over some cash, and with a smile let the server know you appreciate the service and want to see the tip go to the server.
Does anyone here really think that people report all of their cash tips?
No.
If you are a server, the government won’t accept a tax return with zero tips. They assume 15%
15% of what?
The government has no way of knowing how much revenue (sales) a specific individual server generates for a business. Nor are business required to report that, only the tips that are generated on a signed receipt from a debit/credit card.
Most of the time, their paltry hourly wage goes to pay taxes along with the taxed portion of tips from debit/credit cards.
15% of their wage, not the restaurant revenue
They’re getting that anyway just like every other person who has a W2.
Here in Las Vegas the IRS assumes 15% of the bill. Cocktail servers who serve free cocktails are taxed at 15% of what those drinks would be charged at the bar. Food servers are taxed at 15% of the food and beverage bill.
When you wait tables as a server, you are kinda considered a sales person. Many restaurants keep track of 15% of your sales as your tips. … for tax purposes….. so if you tip 10% or stiff a waiter, they are still paying the tax.
In some areas the culture pays 10% or nothing. I remember when the government went after tips. They went to the most high dollar hotels where international business people entertain their clients on the corporate credit card and charged all wait staff in the region by what the wait staff was making in those places.
At the end of the night I have to report my tips at the cashier. There is no skimping with my job. I deal poker at the Hard Rock
.
Is that better, or worse, for you than all tokes being gathered up by the pit boss and divided evenly amongst all the dealers on shift?
As a poker dealer you’re not dealing and making money unless people are at your table. The craps, roulette, and all the other table games dealers pull their tips which is why sometimes you walk by you see a guy just standing there and nobody is playing. I think it’s better that I keep my tips. I am a personable person and a fast dealer and run the game correctly. I think it’s unfair to split tips in poker and here’s why. I can deal up to 15+ hands per half over depending on how much the table is paying attention. Should I split my tips with somebody who gets out 10 hands per 30 minutes? If that were the case and we did split them it would create no incentive for me to be a faster and better dealer.
If they’re smart they’re not reporting cash tips. Obviously the credit card tips are traceable, and IRS will catch on audits, have been nailing servers for a long time with that so most are reporting.
That said, overwhelming majority of restaurant tabs are paid majority credit card nowadays, much more than when I was in the industry. If I pay with a cc I leave cash tip for that reason.
Taking away tips from taxation will get that income back for servers…unless/until digital currency becomes only option…which Trump has said he also won’t let happen.
“If I pay with a cc I leave cash tip…” Yep. And I try to leave the tip in small bills because the servers are supposed to share with the bussers.
I always keep a wad of $2 bills with me for tips. It’s different, appreciated. And when I go back I’m remembered, service is good. What tips are for in the first place, right!
I do the very same thing for the very same reason.
I have friend who work in this industry.
Moat tips are done on a credit or debit card now and are thud reported and taxed.
I know of at least 3 servers that have told me that only about 20% of tips now are in cash.
Maybe old people will be appreciated for once ☺️
It’s actually kind of difficult here. There is imputed tip income that employers have to account for. Then there have been many battles over “tip sharing” or pooling and payments to the “back of the house”.
Most people do not leave cash tips anymore, Sherri.
I rarely eat out. But about 5 years ago I went out to eat with a couple people.
When the bill came, one offered to pay w/ a CC.
As a former waitress, I knew the value of cash tips. So I insisted on leaving the tip.
We got to the door to leave, and our waitress runs over to personally thank me and give me a hug for leaving a cash tip.
The whole CC/ taxed tips is a travesty and I am Really. Happy. that *somebody* is saying “Enough” to this BS.
And that somebody is Trump.
P.S. Now, whenever I eat out, I always insist on leaving the (cash) tip, cuz nearly everyone I know thinks a CC tip is just fine.
Same here. Cash tips for the servers always.
And some acknowledge with appreciation.
At least if this passes they won’t have to worry that one of those 87,000 armed IRS agents will knock on their door.
I’m still trying to shut my dropped jaw over a restaurant bill of $86…
Betsy: How were the hamburger and fries?
Turned to ashes in my mouth.
you just made my PBJ taste a whole lot better!
Thank you, sis!
😂 😂 😂
Anything for you, dear Aggiegirl 💕
I love pbj
I’m not eating one right now…but I surely can taste it 👍🏻
Oooh!
3 dollars for an iced tea but no mean tweets!
Bidenomics!
,,¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Worth it then, Val…
…says every brain dead progressive Biden voter who now complains that inflation is killing them 😎
After PDJT takes is hand off the Bible in January…
he needs to have someone send out a “mean tweet”…along the lines of “didjya miss me?”….as he prepares to deliver the Inaugural Address….
I am sure that if Miss Manners were still alive, she would be shaking her finger at me for being ‘mannerless’.
Somehow I think the indispensable Miss Manners would discreetly look the other way for just a moment. Loved her.
We are the highest taxed country citizenry to support 3 letter agencies/ wefer puppet governments in other countries-ex: Ukraine and soon Hungary.
There are income taxes, state and federal, property taxes, water taxes, sewage taxes, electricity taxes, fuel taxes, car tab taxes, phone taxes and so on. we’ve been pillaged for years by the wolves in government.
Enough!
I am tired of enriching politicians and other countries’ politicians.
Just like they’ve pillaged the territories they took over, so the elites are pillaging the people. Everywhere!
We’ve been gradually brought back to the feudal systems of lords and serfs. DO you own your land? Not if you miss paying taxes! Can you build a shed on your land? Not if the county underlings for life say no.
In other words, I AM TIRED OF PAYING TAXES.
Let freedom ring!
President TRUMP now!
What a brilliant mind he has.
Nothing I could add to your rant would improve upon it, Quoheleth
BRAVO!!!!!
And blessings, dear sir.
Well, maybe except for this…
Excellent!
Carbon credits.
Taxation of air.
On and on and on and on…and on it goes.
RIP
George Harrison
Thank you!
Betsy, I am a woman! Don’t know how the heck I “identified” as guy on this blog!!!? Maybe my name-but I love Ecclesiastes, although the book of Wisdom is my favorite.
Truly enjoy your comments and memes. I am not that good on the commnets as I have little free time. But, please continue to keep me in your prayers, as you are, and PDJT, Sundance and all patriotic treepers.
I am SO SORRY, sis!!! I looked for some indication throughout our many exchanged comments, could find none, and so I impertinently assumed.
Tis good to know.
Most assuredly I will always continue into keep you right where you have always been, dear doctor…in my prayers.
Edit: BRAVA!!!!!
You’re awesome! no worries.
Love and God bless!
💕 👍🏻 🕊
Why aren’t everyone’s taxes essentially set to single digits. Reasoning, this nation runs up massive yearly debt, leadership doesn’t care at all how much we print and borrow. So if borrowing and deficit spending is the norm, just reduce everyone’s taxes and just borrow more money. What’s the difference.
Our taxes aren’t tied to our budget. There’s zero correlation. Just drastically reduce them across the board.
Because everyone is happy with the other guy paying 30-60%.
The Govt’ budget should be set at 5% across the board, no city, county, federal, layered BS taxes. I figure most people are taxed well over 50% when you add in all the crap we pay.
.
What is the cost to a business to accept credit card payments these days?
Is it still like .03% of each credit card charge?
If credit card companies can run their business on such a rate, why can’t the government?
For me now:
Square credit card rate:
Square offers competitive and transparent pricing for credit card processing. The rate varies depending on the type of transaction and payment method. Here’s a breakdown of the rates:
Card-present transactions (swiped, dipped, or tapped): 2.6% + 10 cents per transactionCard-not-present transactions (online, phone, or mail orders): 3.5% + 15 cents per transactionOther transactions (Square Online, Square Online Checkout, or Invoices): 2.9% + 30 cents per transactionWhen my local bank was doing it with a 5 year lock & early termination fee it was more than double that plus they charged me for your rewards program on your card. When someone had a massive rewards program is when I pulled the plug from the bank & just paid the minimum fee as it was less than the early termination fee.
Big bonus with square is … the moment someone charges something … I have that cash on a debit card to use instantly, do not have to wait 1-2 days for them to hang on to it & make interest on it, only transfer it out for bills or could pay online with the debit card.
10%15% for thebigregular guy.flat
As a poker dealer at the Hard Rock in Tampa I agree
Does anyone ever ask you to go ‘rabbit hunting’?
I only agree if they have a fresh can or two of Billy beer to make the thing even more psychedelic then ol’ Jimmy’s tale.
Im not supposed to but I do it. One time we had a promotion that was for $5000. The high hand had to hold up for 3 hours and you got $5000. Well the flop came like 4 10 J clubs and the last guy to act bet and everybody folded. He wanted me to rabbit hunt and the turn would have been a 9 of clubs. he had 8 Q of clubs and would have beaten the current high hand of the SF to the J. Needless to say he was really upset lol.
I want to go back to 15% tips, taxes excluded from the calculation, and none of these obnoxious 18% – 20% – 22% “suggestions.” And no tipping for self-order / self-service. All this tipping nonsense got way out of hand with Covid BS.
P.S. I calculate my own tips and exclude the taxes from my calculation. I am usually generous. Also, I reject any “healthcare surcharges,” or other such wokeness.
Where are you at? the ones I see around here (SE VA) are now 20%-22%-25%.
Phil R: Los Angeles (yeah, yeah, I know). But, I see 20%-22%-25% also.
Coming soon to your area, bill…
A carbon tax such as is being placed on every restaurant bill in Canada. Saw a receipt last night from Toronto.
Three percent of the whole bill added on.
Something to look forward to in California.
Nobody is forcing you to eat out. It’s actually far healthier to prepare your own food. Everyone I see getting sick all the time eats out literally every day.
SammyC: We’re talking about tipping. The health discussion is over in Aisle 3.
🙂
In the greater NYC area it was always 20% when I was coming up. We were taught that if you can’t afford to tip you can’t afford to eat out. But I agree with 15%. They take so many shortcuts in cooking now that they don’t get 20 except certain places.
I think it goes back to whomever you use as a credit card processor as well as what kind of business your do.
As a carryout / delivery restaurant, since I do both with Square, tips are either on or off … you don’t have a choice to have a carryout terminal that tips are not offered.
When I used to hit no tip on the transaction without giving the option to tip, I was chastised by a regular customer who started out as a delivery customer that he wanted to tip, so, everyone is offered the tip screen instead of me just hitting no tip.
Now if an employee that is working a particular terminal gets tips or pooled tips… yea they might be offended but screw em, hit the no tip button, I view it as bonus money for being pleasant. I have had person or 2 that is about as charming as a chapped @ss complain that they were not getting much in tips (on delivery’s) … I can’t imagine why./s
Tip suggestions (for Square) are controlled by me … 15…20…25… custom tip …. no tip. Do not know if it is calculated on before/after tax … not available to be controlled by me. It also shows dollar amount next to percentage.
I am not offended if someone hits no tip, it is carry out, I would not and do not tip for carry out or if I do it’s not much ie going to the outside walk up terminal @ the Sonic outdoor tables … that they walk out my order to me when it is done.
Generally just whatever change from whole bills in cash is left or exact change if they run more cars thru the drive thru than what car I would have been behind if I used the drive thru (my power windows inoperative on one of my cars). The drive thru does have priority .. if you call a 15 minute wait priority .. our sonic is pathetic but help is scarce in town especially @ 17+/hr that McD & Sonic offer to start. SMH
Scott Pressler suggested leaving the message on your restaurant copy
Leave it everywhere!!
Sorry but that is way down on the list for the first day. First day – pardon all J6 people, deport all and I mean all illegals.
The President’s role in those is a couple minutes each. Its not like he has to track every illegal himself. I’m pretty sure President Trump will have several hundred things including those done within 24 hours.
Let us continue praying for him and our country.
13.6% in local food taxes? Dang…
Guess I will skip Nashville should I ever go thru Tennessee again.
LBD tax Liquor by Drink 15% <<< wonder if this is state wide… yep but not on beer less than 7% ABV
CBID tax Central Business Improvement District .5% up from .25 pre 7/21
TN state sales tax 7%
Nashville tax only 2.25% with a state maximum of 2.75
Well at least there is no income tax in the state, which is why my eldest brother moved to there long ago. SMH
I dislike the idea of “give aways” to segments of our population, in this case pandering to the restaurant worker. However, we must fight fire with fire! Biden is advertising giving away forgiveness of student debt.
I feel it is right to grant a “give away” to a segment of the population that is bearing a systemic wrong.
Consider the ones who don’t tip and get stellar service.
Consider that nasty consumer who works the tail off their server for nonsense and does not tip.
Him stating in Vegas was a big ol’ hammer smack against their fortress. So mighty a smack indeed that they had to respond to it. Dems not happy.
He should pitch similar things in WI, MI, MN, PA, GA, AZ and other places.
I say we vote to eliminate all income tax. The sad fact is that you are being taxed to live. We exchange time (our lives) for some money. Technically this is not “income”. It is a barter, and exchange of part of my life for a good, service or money. A wage is not income.
Imagine having a bill to pay, car payment, house payment, etc, but you come up short because the Govt’ thinks your money is theirs and steals a cut before you see it. That’s the circumstances that are going on right now, as people suffer from Bidenflation. I agree with you…. we shouldn’t be paying these crooks…. and our bills should come first.
It’s an excise tax on the privilege of barter or exchange. That’s why the 16th amendment was never needed for income from employments or occupations. It strictly applies to income from rents or dividends that derive from property and states that the rule of uniformity, not the rule of apportionment applies in assessing the tax.
Individual barter or exchange is a privilege? 🤔
Sounds like a protection racket.
‘Nice livelihood you got there, would be a shame if something were to happen to it.’
Someone near me has your name written on their very unique vehicle. Always makes me smile.
Gifts ought not be taxed.
Congrats Trump! You just won Nevada
Sorry Sundance this is not bold. Get rid of the majority of fed taxes.🙂
Trump should come out and say he will limit overall taxes to 5% across the board and then let the leeches hash it out over their stolen money. (our 5%)
When the tip tax became
“7 percent of register sales”
it became very apparent that government was comprised of horrible
destructive….
-enslaving thieves!
If a credit card was/ is used
only a $1.00 tip is written
-with cash given for the real tip.
God bless President Trump!
✝️❤️🇺🇸
that’s what I do – tip a nominal amount on the card for their reporting, and tip an additional amount in cash so they can skate with that
The whole town lives off them.
Biden is going to have those extra irs agents auditing everyone in the Las Vegas service industry.
Well, while Las Vegas would suffer….it would keep them, extra IRS agents, away from the rest of us…
No income tax at all. The gubmint creates money out of thin air anyway. No more income tax! Repeal 16th amendment!!
Sorry Sundance this is not bold. Get rid of the majority of fed taxes on the middle class and small business. Raise taxes (up the you know what) on the crony capitalists( the donors) that receive corporate welfare and stop giving them welfare. The brought and paid for Congress politicians would never pass such a proposal.
Trump 2024
I try to tip in cash hoping that might help, knowing the IRS charges an average of their tabs. That’s no good if you happen to tip less that 20%. I live near Delaware where there’s no tax on food or beverage.
I cannot afford to eat out anymore so…the tip issue for me, is moot.
They’ll catch them at the other end if they don’t keep circulating the cash as cash. I thought it would support buy local but how many local businesses are there remaining?
So disposable dollars (which have already been subjected to income tax, plus sales tax when said dollars are being disposed) will not be subjected to further taxation as they circulate the economy? Not scoring any brownie points amongst the Deep State with that policy. Nice
Economic weapons for financial wars.
It’s far past time to use everything in the ‘toolbox’. One does not win wars by fighting solely on the enemies terms.
Understanding that any employee of any business is employed in the customer ‘service’ industry, whether directly or indirectly, may help one to understand that,
Cash makes no enemies,
hence the war on cash,
And,
In God We Trust,
All others pay cash.
Trust God. Fear not.
Ron Paul tried to do exactly this while in the House. Maybe it will work this time
I always pay tips in cash.
They can decide to declare or not.
Brilliant!
I wonder if this would cause DEM’S ARE CRAP to stop tipping for fear of contributing to a TRUMP TAX CUT!
Not a bad idea .
I generally leave a cash tip 95% of the time if I pay with a card .
One ,so they get it right away, and two so the government has no clue .
superb idea. Too bad we do not eat out much. …. at all really.
Ethically, it just never seemed right to share a “gift”with someone it wasn’t meant for and didn’t earn it. I am in favor of government mandated tip jars where people can leave tips for the government … voluntarily, of course.
The whole “no tax on tips” is a bit moot IMHO
Fewer and fewer will be able to afford to buy fastfood in a year with the ways prices are increasing.
See recent article “Fastfood becoming a luxury item for most” or something to that regard
No burger = NO TIPS
No tips = NO TAX anyway
Todays inflation report 3% yoy.. 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 Completely made up number.
I guess they do not have a hamburger in their inflation basket.
Borrowing is a huge contributor to todays inflation.
More currency chasing fewer goods equals inflation.
I think Trump would be better off to say “no more borrowing / printing of trillions at the treasury”.
All recent administrations have increased borrowing, Trump not exempted.
Not sure how much Trump increased the debt, was between 4 and 6 trillion somewhere.
INFLATION = government theft
Whoever the next administration is they should stop excessive government spending / borrowing. But hell will probably freeze over before that happens.
Also the world is de-dollarizing from the USD as a reserve currency. It’s not a fast process but its happening and its happening faster because the US foreign policy is totally crap and lacking any kind of diplomacy. So expect more inflation in your near future as the USD’s will start coming home.
Note most people earning their wage out of tips, will probably not even understand where inflation comes from.
Most likely it will go straight over their head as some nebulous number the government reports on and this is apparently fully outside of government control.
Scrapping the tax on tips this target group will understand as they see a few more dollars; in the grand scheme of things will do mostly nothing.
It will not address the REASON why these can buy less and less each month.
Sure you keep say 30% of your tips more, which helps you keep your head above water for 6 months longer. However the prices of what you buy to eat go up by 100%, 200%. This compared to your 30% tax savings. (All depending on if people can keep affording to eat out at your establishment where you earn your tips)
It is a gimmick to earn more votes, but beyond the election — if US spending is not brought under control — will do absolutely nothing. Deficit spending will make the US and service industry people worse off.
LOVE this idea!!!
Now that many tips are logged digitally and therefor tracked on paychecks – and taxed – this is a good hook to get the youth vote.
Hopefully some of them are paying attention!
I’ll take a wait and see attitude on this proposal.
I believe nobody can out pander the Democommunist Party.
Scott Pressler on Truth has been promoting this! Don’t know if it’s his idea or he picked it up from someone else, but I think it’s brilliant!
The only fear I have is that President Trump has devised this because he realizes the Fed is going to ram CBDC up our keisters whether we like it or not.
Great one up to the student loan forgiveness though.
I’ll say it …. tips were NOT as well as ARE NOT even reported, 99% of the time, when it was/is cash left on the table before businesses made it easy to be lazy by making tips a selection at check-out time and (the “nonresistant” //sarc) inflation pushed the costs through the roof … making it more convenient to use the credit card than a horse choking wad of cash.
I support this move of NO tax on tips…it is called a “gratuity” for reason.
Tax on tips was a hot issue even 30 years ago but dies out when government at all levels gave up on the thought … just like the period when democrats wanted to tax airline rewards and now credit card rewards as income.
Then there is the oldie but goody democrat scheme to tax medical plans that exceeded a specified value in the 1990’s and when Obama-care was formulated.
Even 85% of the social security benefit I earned is taxable as income … go figure Tax on a benefit created by another Tax and taxed again (reduced to be equitable) by a means test tax.
It is all part of the same desire by democrats to tax everything.
I always tip above and beyond due to inflationary pressures. Twenty percent ain’t what it used to be and servers rely on their tips to make a living wage.
Also, I want to show how I appreciate the people who came back to work after prolonged restaurant closures, instead of sitting home taking gubmint handouts for the rest of their lives.
Now I can write this on the receipt to drive home the point that MAGA people are VERY generous.. let me count the ways..
Next – no tax on social security!
Also, while we are at it …
Remove Required Minimum Distribution Requirements (RMD) or at least put floor on RMD that is the same the floor for the Inheritance Tax….or remove RMD and the Inheritance Tax.
Trump also came out STRONGLY in favor of Bitcoin and of the US making strides to mine the 7% of the Bitcoin supply still to be issued. There’s been a sea change over the past two weeks or so, and many Bitcoiners (a community that leans largely libertarian and towards Austrian economics) who were previously ambivalent or even downright hostile to him now view him as the only candidate in the race.
Nuke the tax code and the IRS, or it’s just happy talk.
A 75% reduction of government personnel at all levels would reduce taxes to zero. An absolutely necessary step to save this union.
