egistration. I don’t know how it is in other states but when I got my driver’s license in my current state I was able to do my political registration at the same time. I suspect other states are similar.
Indiana does elections as close to right as any state I’ve heard of. We must show id that matches the info on the voter roll. Paper ballots marked with a sharpie. I insert my ballot into the auto counter and watch my vote accepted and counted. You declare your party in the primary election and can change from year to year. No party affiliation for general election, of course. Early voting done at the courthouse. Results are in before midnight unless it’s a tossup. Hard to cheat and cheaters that are caught are punished. Triple red state with a budget surplus too.
Ohio is the same.
open primaries serve the GOP establishment. They were put in place to prevent another RR and for the most part they have kept real conservatives from gaining traction in the primaries.

Trump won every county in Iowa except for Johnson, which is the most democratic county (proportionally) in the state due to the relatively small total population vs. the proportion from the University of Iowa.
The DNC managed to motivate enough of them to get out in spite of the weather in a caucus environment (requires sharing space with people the Dems hate) to to get Haley to a tie.
NH’s open primary system removes the caucus environment element. Barring really bad weather expect the Dems to get out their base for Haley. Biden didn’t even register for the NH Dem primary ballot, so he needs write-ins to win. What a scam.
I’ve said it before on this forum: Election systems only work when conducted in a spirit of good faith. States that permit these types of bad faith practices should be punished by demoting their priority in the primary calendar.
Yeah, I don’t get this. I also don’t understand why DNC politicians have a say in who the RNC leadership positions go to while the Republican voters have zero input. Can somebody help me make that make sense?
It’s not that the Republican voters have zero input, in general they have chosen not to do so when given the opportunity. Republican voters have shown good faith in the election process. Democrat voters have not. This is not a sustainable dynamic. States need to change laws. An example of a good change would be if you change your party affiliation that you cannot change it again for at least 1 year. Another would be eliminate open primaries where anyone can vote for anybody.
I have been pondering and doing much thinking about what I have learned over time of the truth that SunDance shared. I understood some, but he has brought clarity to much more that I am grateful for. About these private corporations set up to give the appearance of separate elites coming from 2 different points of view, to create the appearance of ‘ choice ‘. But in reality they have become 2 sides of the same coin, only interested in the protection of their wealth and power. That being said, what would be a clear indicator and points of reference that one could show that is the case that most would be able to easily grasp. And that gift is the allowance of cross over voting on primary days, to determine one’s plans and future. Would you or I allow our chief rival have not only a say, but a vote as to how we are going to plan and strategies our opposition. Of course not. We’re all pissed now. But just imagine our fury if they put our real President, Trump, in jail, hand the nomination to Haley, and expect us to vote for her. They are that stupid, they’re trying to do it right now. Without a peep from this treacherous woman. The mere fact she’s still running confirms everything bad we know about her. Almost none of these shenanigans worry me. Not Halley, not De Santis, none of Trumps civil court cases or the criminal cases for that matter, none of the weak attempts to keep Trump off the ballots and given the state of the economy for us average Americans I am not really worried about Crooked Joe Biden either. IMHO its all smoke and mirrors, political theater if you will, to distract us from the most important issue we face.
What deeply concerns me is that we have not done enough to ensure free, fair and honest elections. Now from what I understand even if President Trump is convicted of those fabricated felonies and he is sitting in jail he can still be elected POTUS but with mass mail in ballots still in play in many places I don’t see he has any path to victory. I mean its completely insane for us to expect a different result this time when almost everything else is the same.
The way I see it we have two choices. Do our best to expose the 2024 steal or we can organize our own ” legal ” ballot harvesting operations.

the finger pointing. is this a indian cultural gesture? seriously asking..I don’t know where she picked this up, but in America, you try not to point your fingers and wave them up and down at people listening to what you have to say. It becomes distracting and off putting. And I don’t care if this sound misogynist to anyone or not, this is particularly true when a woman does it. Haley isn’t my mother. She doesn’t have the privilege and the right to point here fingers at me. Mom holds that title and has earned it. This holds true for men also…but for different reasons. I would never lay by hands EVER on a woman, but if a man ever pointed his fingers at me, even if it was a speech presentation…I would relentlessly heckle the jackass until he stopped. i would break him. I hate finger waving. Absolutely cannot stand it when people do that. It a sign that the strength of the idea is weak and must be reinforced with some veiled threat. yeah, never do that to me.
the overall demeanor…it’s just flat…there isn’t anything to find joy or curiosity here. I mentioned tone, but this is about content. It is of course well scripted, but it’s done very poorly. It is very similar how joe malarkey is given a script. they know he can’t hold a conversation about grade 5 for longer than 30 seconds, so the script is easy to read and follow, with no requirements to flex the mental fitness…same with haley…it’s just slow stuff…topical. You could literally get anyone up on stage and say the same things, dress up like haley, point a finger and wave it and do a half asses character impersonation and the reaction would be the same…no need to ai or anything like that. She’s easy to copy because there just isn’t anything there that defines a personality…well dull, I suppose yes, that could be a personality…but you get the point.
why does this matter?
here are my thoughts on personalities…These are the traits we have created through the tests of our time on this earth. This is who we become through the thick and the thin, love and loss…ambition and humility. There is no one RIGHT personality, but that you have one that is YOU. That people can see and understand relate to, even if it isn’t the same experience as yourself. This is in my opinion one of the most important requisites for choosing a leader, even a President. That we locate our champions…the we see them as good people, with warts and defects, but of a spirit that is willing to take a risk and show itself to the world. Here am I. This is me. This is who I am.
haley is guarded and uncertain …if this is her personality, I am not confident has the right stuff to handle hard conflict, difficult decisions and more importantly to understand the critical requirement that she be able to relate to the American People and to speak about WHY AND THE HOW of leadership decisions.
There just doesn’t seem to be energy here.

I can’t imagine what kind of courage it takes to run for president and take the critics…
BUT THAT IS THE JOB. there is no participation trophy…not on this one.
