In an effort to stop Godzilla Trump, the RNC is hosting their fourth GOP primary debate for the first-losers who wish to challenge the overwhelming support of the republican base. At this point in the polling, none of the first-losers reach double digits and President Trump is 50 to 60 points ahead.
President Trump is not participating in the Alabama debate which will be broadcast or streamed on all NewsNation platforms at 8:00pm ET, including its TV channel, its app and its website. An audio feed will be available on SiriusXM’s Channel 111, and we have a Rumble Link below.
Only four candidates qualified for the debate. Chris Christie, Ron DeSantis, Vivek Ramaswamy and Nikki Haley. The moderators will be talk-show host Megyn Kelly; Eliana Johnson, the editor in chief of The Free Beacon; and Elizabeth Vargas, a NewsNation anchor.
Consider this an open discussion thread for those watching.

I’ve tried to objectively listen to what Vivek says.
My feeeling, which as hard as I’ve tried to shake, is that he is for only one thing: Vivek. He has all the traits of the stereotypical salesman. Tell ’em what they want to hear in order for them to sign the bill of sale. He knows We The People are hungry for President Trump’s Make American Great Again agenda. Vivek’s past doesn’t point in that direction (to me).

VR is very good at finding the weaknesses of others. He is very intelligent and has a great memory. I don’t trust him. I like watching him attack people I don’t like, but am concerned about what he’d do to Trump.

A small part of me thinks that he became a candidate so that he is a proxy for PDJT. He can be on stage and be bombastic and confrontational. Trump cannot because he would continue to be called “unpresidential”. If it was by design by Team Trump and Vivek or Vivek just decided to do so then I can at least be grateful that Vivek wipes the floor with these filthy RINOs.
If he is the real deal then I would be willing to see him as the replacement for Karine Jean-Pierre. I would enjoy seeing him beat down the press every single day.

I thought Ron did a much better job now that he isn’t the favorite for the donor class, reminded me much more of Ron of 2018 than Ron of 2022, and I could see voting for him – too bad for him Trumpzilla is going to crush it despite indictments etc.
Nikki came across more aloof; as a former South Carolinian to see her go from Tea Party to Uni-Party was sad.

Will never vote for DeSantis. He sold out to the GOPe, and told the vast majority of Republican voters who are MAGA, to screw themselves with his presidential run and he also turned his back on President Trump who helped him get into the governorship of Florida.
I don’t care if he runs in 2028 and beyond. He can’t be trusted. He’s Republican establishment bought, owned and paid for.
While I agree with the sentiment in part, I think the reality of Ron is more complex than he just sold out.
He was my congressman before governor and he was always communicating, always relaying what was going on, always on the front line with his constituents. Do I agree with all his votes? No, and I’m not excusing them either – votes have consequences (unless it’s a presidential election than ballots matter).
I see Ron falling back into his comfort zone now. I personally think deep down he didn’t want to run, his wife put him up, his donors put him up, and he isn’t the smartest / quickest either so it is easy to believe the trope about Trump or elect-ability or whatever. I’m not calling him dumb, just maybe gullible.
I believe deep down he wasn’t comfortable being in the race to begin with because deep down he knows Trump is going to be the nominee, and deep down there is a sense of loyalty that he himself betrayed. It explains so much of the awkward comments, the false smile etc. It was the fact he isn’t leading the race or even close that made the debate with Gruesome so uncomfortable for him – everything he threw Newsom could just retort with the status of the race and rejection from the voters. On actual substance DeSantis is not all that different from Trump on what matters, but on style and reading the people, not so much.
I’m not saying him running is right nor excusing him, but I do have a bit of sympathy for him.

I have empathy for him. When we lose our ability to see the humanity in others we are no better than those we are so stridently opposed to.
