However, the endorsement was not supposed to happen until after the 2023 holidays, when it would be closer to the Iowa caucuses and carry more benefit.
Why did the DeSantis handlers need to trigger this endorsement early? Because DeSantis is going backward in Iowa and Nikki Haley is now pushing ahead of him.
The more the Iowa voters get to see Ron DeSantis, the less they like him.

During the COVID19 fiasco in 2020 and 2021, Governor Kim Reynolds ended mask mandates sooner than most states, especially for school children. She also ended lockdown restrictions on restaurants and small businesses relatively early compared to other states. The State of Iowa did not impose any vaccine mandates that I am aware of.
She has already communicated to small businesses that there will be no state mask or contact tracing requirements if the CDC, big pharma, or the deep state tries to startup another pandemic in the near future.

Here’s my take as a lifelong Hawkeye republican: “mainstream” republicans see Iowa as perhaps their last stand to fend off MAGA republicanism. You can’t see Reynolds in isolation from Joni Ernst. As Sundance often says, “it’s about the trillions.” When you look at Midwestern farm belt republicans who do you have? Rounds, Thune, Fischer, Ernst, Ricketts, Grassley. It’s about the money and the largesse big government means for rural areas. At one level Trump is seen as a threat to the special interests. At another level, Trump is the best choice to battle a globalism that will eventually swallow every farmer if left unchecked. It will be interesting to see how farmers actually respond. Where do they see the greatest threat and perhaps the most imminent? It will be Trump’s Bonafide’s vs. the Reynolds and Ernsts.

First, I will tell everyone that Reynolds is popular with Iowa republicans. The more interesting aspect is why she is popular? Mainly, because she has supported the policies of Trump. In my estimation we are seeing a revealing of who Kim Reynolds really is: the same as Ron DeSantis, a loyalist to the money wing of the GOP. It fits the pattern of most Midwestern farm state legislators. The money is the driving force of all things political. Reynolds has a lot to lose and she’s choosing the same fate as DeSantis. Probably both stand to lose long term standing in the GOP power structure. Should be interesting to watch unfold. It definitely tells you how high the stakes are viewed by the swamp. All the chips are being pushed onto the Iowa stage, imho.

What I really like about Sundance mentioning these things, is the betrayal. They fold up like a clam and salute their new masters. They want that insider positioning.
The contrast in the polling numbers helps to elevate further understanding of media bias and how easily people can be manipulated and controlled.
