Again, something not feeling right about this story from The Daily Mail relay. Apparently, at some recent moment before the October 7, 2023 Hamas terrorist attack, a reporter from Russia Today was given a tour of Hamas tunnels below Gaza. According to the article, there are approximately 300 miles of the tunnels, with some reaching 200 ft below the surface.
The engineering to build tunnels at a depth of 200 ft (60 meters) below the surface is a remarkable claim (think proximity to sea level). The scale of the tunnels at 300 miles under such a small geographic region is another element that seems quite remarkable. The report, originating from Russia Today, coming on the heels of western intelligence trying to frame Russia in connection to an alignment with Hamas, puts another element into the Suspicious Cat review. The report almost seems too defensive and conveniently timed. That said, it’s not impossible, just remarkable if true.
(Via Daily Mail) – […] A Russia Today (RT) reporter was allowed a rare visit inside the so-called ‘Gaza Metro’ which snakes for up to 300 miles under the war-torn enclave.
As the clip emerged, senior Hamas official Mousa Abu Marzouk was asked by another RT interviewer why they didn’t allow the beleaguered civilian population to shelter from the bombing in the tunnels.
His reply spoke volumes: ‘Protecting Gaza civilians is the responsibility of the UN and Israel…We have built the tunnels to protect ourselves from getting targeted and killed. These are meant to protect us from the airplanes.’
The RT journalist entered the network by being lowered by an electric hoist 200ft (60m) below the ground.
[…] Hamas’s military engineers have become skilled at rigging up the concrete-lined tunnels and installing ventilation, electric lighting and telephone lines, all of which can be seen as the reporter makes his way among the terrorists.
Terrorists can also be seen running along the tunnels in the film carrying weapons and meanwhile others are digging by hand to extend the network still further. (read more)
If Hamas is indeed this dug in, (a) that means they have spent an incredible amount of time and money building this labyrinth; and (b) that would also explain the extreme dangers of this kind of warfare. Even bunker busting bombs would have difficulty with this claimed scale of depth.
Quite remarkable if true.
For that reason, in combination with the accepted psychological warfare that surrounds both the Ukraine war narrative and the Israeli war Gaza narrative, Engineering Suspicious Cat remains, well, suspicious…
Like Sundance’s favorite feline, I consider this to be an exaggeration. Maybe the part about soldiers “digging by hand to extend the network still further.” (You obviously can’t do that.) I suspect that this journalist was led into more-or-less a stage set with actors playing various roles, and fed a bunch of hooey. Which he dutifully reported as it was his job to do.
The tunnels were known. Army engineers accompanied by others were traveling to Egypt over a decade ago to assist with Gaza tunnel detection.

Video: Ex-Saudi intel chief accuses Israel of ‘funnelling’ Qatari money to HamasSaudi Arabia’s former Intelligence Chief Prince Turki al-Faisal accused Israel of funnelling Qatari money to the Hamas terrorist group, even as he condemned both sides for the ongoing war. He said that there are no heroes in the current situation, but only victims. https://www.indiatoday.in/world/story/video-saudi-intel-chief-prince-turki-al-faisal-accuses-israel-of-funnelling-qatari-money-to-hamas-2451348-2023-10-20
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu defended Israel’s regular allowing of Qatari funds to be transferred into Gaza, saying it is part of a broader strategy to keep Hamas and the Palestinian Authority separate, a source in Monday’s Likud faction meeting said.
“Now that we are supervising, we know it’s going to humanitarian causes,” the source said, paraphrasing Netanyahu. https://www.jpost.com/arab-israeli-conflict/netanyahu-money-to-hamas-part-of-strategy-to-keep-palestinians-divided-583082
There’s no way that Satanyahoo didn’t know where that money was going.
On stop world control there’s a download able video ” the mystery of Israel ” that says who is funding “both sides” of this war with a Pic of Netanyahu showing the Un a Pic of the “new” middle east. Palestine isn’t on it. Check it out. Definitely an eye opener
Drop a natural gas pipe fill the tunnel light a match all gone…..
If I remember correctly, during operation desert storm the US airforce sequentially used 7 bunker busters on one gps point to drill down and destroy a heavily reinforced bunker. That was done ~30 years ago.
I’m sure that can repeated where necessary.
Chemical warfare agents and combustible agents (plus maybe a thermobaric device sucking the oxygen out of the tunnels) dispersed in the tunnels would eliminate a high number of terrorists because they are not fitted with NBC protection.
It looks like more forever war propaganda to me. If I were Hamas this not something I would advertise if true.
Exactly.
Just start pumping sea water into them and see where it comes out.
That is exactly my thoughts. Get a huge pump they use for sewage and a pipe…. Would not be long before the entire system is flooded and unusable.
It also would not be long before a Hamas missile destroys the pump and pipe.
Gasoline is better no bodies left…
Once Israel controls the ground they just need to find all the tunnel entrances and then wait. Hamas has to come out at eventually.
If these tunnels are sophisticated enough I assume they have countermeasures built in to prevent a large bomb detonated at the entrances from killng everyone inside, but no matter how much food and water they have stored they will run out.
There is that report that the tunnels connect beneath the hospital feeds supplies, food, ammo into the tunnel.
The Biden administration and other free Palestiners are right now attempting to limit action by limiting Israel’s time for action.
The length of the tunnels is irrelevant. Tunnels have a connection with the surface. If those connections are sealed, easily done, the tunnels are useless, and whatever men or material is contained within those tunnels is equally useless.
Some of the tunnels may lead to other nearby countries. I read that Egypt destroyed the tunnels leading into their country or sealed them up.
Good thing they did best to keep Palestinians from slipping into other countries unwanted.
How did they know where the tunnels are
If there really are 300 miles of tunnels, there must be 1000’s of connections to the surface. Some will be used more often than others, and some may be well disguised and for ’emergencies’ only. Finding all of the surface connections would be a daunting task on its own.
But as long as they r there they can make other openings
Flood them slowly until the water is shoulder high. Works for rats.
But what about the innocent hostages, babies sm children teenagers, attacked, raped, skaughtered and kidnapped
at 200 ft down, these tunnels are likely to meet the water table & flood. I think the claims are exaggerated.
try flamethrowers in these tunnels.
Natural gas pipeline
But what about the kidnapped hostages. Mabe they are there
Flood the tunnels with dyed seawater, preferably a chemical that glows in the dark like a chemlight. When the rats surface, the IDF will know what to do.
Better start calling the Gaza strip Tunneltown or CaveVista, and calling Hamas the Tut’ankHAMASians. It’s 25 miles long with 300 miles of tunnels. I suspect help from the Egyptians whose ability in designing, building and hiding the pharaonhic tombs is historical record..
In another way we should thank them for being such considerate moles, in that they built their own burial sites and coffins! So let them be buried, so let the IDF and Israel be done with them!!
On second thought Iran has buried their nuclear testing sites so they would be the most likely “helpers” in the underground construction of the tunnels. And they used OUR money….!
Someone call Hieronymus Bosch. He seems to be retired from the LAPD now and I bet he’s itching to get back into some tunnels.
This morning Jennifer Griffin (Fox) reported on the tunnels. The bunker busters can only go 100 feet deep. I’d give them a try. 🙂
so all you need to do is pump in seawater……
Israel should announce that anyone, in any of the tunnels below gaza, have 24 hours to vacate. Then, Israel should begin pumping water into every hole they find. Even if doesn’t flood all of tunnels, it would damn sure make many of them unusable to the terroristic gophers.
300 miles?? Yeah, right.
Well here’s the thing: very long and incredibly (to my mind) engineered tunnels have been found (destroyed?) crossing the CA border w/ MX. Otay Mesa was a US point of exit/entry for at least one of them. I regret I don’t have a steel trap of a mind for everything I read, but I do remember a couple of these stories, one within the last year.
My map app tells me Otay Mesa is roughly 15-20 miles from the Pacific. It’s desert rugged terrain. Like Gaza???
I will watch with skepticism, however. I have zero trust in stories coming out from corporate media/govt.
Caves did not work for Bin Laden, tunnels will not work for Hamas.
Every mosque, hospital, school and “baby milk factory” has a tunnel entrance inside. Might try using remote-operated devices and BZ gas (makes people fall asleep).
Bring in supplies to seal off certain points with a solid steel door that can only be opened from one side.
You would think Hamas would anticipate flooding, and hold the hostages in the lowest parts. You would probably be killing hostages if you flooded them.
What if the IDF kept control of the tunnels after the war? They could control Gaza from below. Use the tunnels against the terrorists!
Israel should keep Gaza. Israel was brutally attacked. Gaza was a gift from israel for peace. They
Gave them an oasis, with beautiful farms. The palestinians destroyed everything. There can never be peace bec tomorrow another terrorist group will emerge and again build some horrible way to kill and destroy innocent civillians.
Drop some gas in and drop a match poof all gone!!!!

American Thinker has the right idea how to target and wipe out HAMAS and limit collateral damage.

Another dumb Flood the tunnels idea. I have not seen anywhere how such a thing could be made to happen. Flooding would require massive stationary pumps. These pumps need power of some kind to operate. As things stand now. Hamas can easily destroy the pumps and disrupt power or fuel transport.
The only way for such a plan to work is if IDF completely take Gaza and control all surface areas. That goal is far from being achieved at this time. Perhaps months from now , leveling Gaza, and brutal urban fighting.. Yes.
I vote to let gravity do the work. There has to be a way. Where are the desal plants located? What does local geography have to say about water flow? Use the natural resources. Why make it so complicated?
There’s lots online about the tunnels. I’m sure Sundance has seen other videos. Check out this one, for example:
Healthy lungs on that gal!
Here’s another
Diesel fuel. Black smoke. Problem solved.
If you want to go cheap, seawater is the way. The Israeli forces are moving down the Gaza beach.
Once those rockets, stored underground, start cooking off, it’s going make for some awesome videos.
Given that Gaza encompasses 143 sq miles, the population density and the close proximity of structures it is believable that an extensive tunnel network exists. As far as the depth of the tunnels that depends on the water table and geology. However, note that there a number of methods available to quickly eliminate anyone in the tunnels and render the tunnels useless.
Harking back to watching “The Great Escape” movie, where does one put that volume of tunneled dirt/material? It would seem that evidence of such and extensive network would be … everywhere!
Progress.
Flood the tunnels article.

The video in the Daily Mail seems to be clips from this RT Arabic video posted: Jun 14, 2021
Note: RT doesn’t say who the corespondant is either…
The corespondant is clearly visbile in the video though, so someone (not me) should know at least who is behind the mic.
Awwwwwww…..Engineering Suspicious Cat!!! You are a wise and thoughtful beauty!!! ❤️
I am mindful of H.G. Wells’ The Time Machine , with the subterranean Morlochs slithering up from the underground depths to feed on the “helpless” Eloi at night! Accepting the assumption that Hamas has a vast system of tunnels under Gaza stretching hundreds of miles and immune from Bunker Buster bombs because of the extreme depth of the tunnels, I would suggest that this makes the Hamas SNAKES more vulnerable to the capable IDF troops who only have to locate and enter every known entry and exit point thus trapping and exterminating the vermin! Methinks Sundance’s statement “Engineering Suspicious Cat remains, well, suspicious…” is valid.
