Again, something not feeling right about this story from The Daily Mail relay. Apparently, at some recent moment before the October 7, 2023 Hamas terrorist attack, a reporter from Russia Today was given a tour of Hamas tunnels below Gaza. According to the article, there are approximately 300 miles of the tunnels, with some reaching 200 ft below the surface.
The engineering to build tunnels at a depth of 200 ft (60 meters) below the surface is a remarkable claim (think proximity to sea level). The scale of the tunnels at 300 miles under such a small geographic region is another element that seems quite remarkable. The report, originating from Russia Today, coming on the heels of western intelligence trying to frame Russia in connection to an alignment with Hamas, puts another element into the Suspicious Cat review. The report almost seems too defensive and conveniently timed. That said, it’s not impossible, just remarkable if true.

If Hamas is indeed this dug in, (a) that means they have spent an incredible amount of time and money building this labyrinth; and (b) that would also explain the extreme dangers of this kind of warfare. Even bunker busting bombs would have difficulty with this claimed scale of depth.

I thought the hostage deaths were a product of the medical evacuation screwup. They didn’t get the hostages to the hospital fast enough. While the Israelis are undoubtedly more efficient than the Russians, the tunnels are a bigger problem than the theater was.

I read about a remarkable new weapon the Israeli’s have developed. It was not a Babylon bee story either. I don’t know if these are grenade sized, package sized or 500lb bomb sized. These bombs apparently release a spray foam like material upon detonation that’s as hard as concrete. It expands and instantly hardens sealing off the tunnel causing those trapped to suffocate to death or starve unless they have the tools on them to dig out which is not very likely.

One note. I only have met one Palestinian. He was in his late 20s, he and his family ran a restaurant. He obviously had grown up in the US. He was well mannered and spoke perfect english. He was friendly and a good host. I regularly patronized the restaurant and he always made a round of the tables and chatted with everyone. He frequently was absent, the restaurant help said he was visiting the home village in Palestine. When he returned from one trip back to Palestine, I asked him what the solution the Palestine-Israeli situation was. He matter of fact said “… either they kill all of us or we kill all of them…” . It’s been known for years that hamas has a huge underground world. They need fuel to keep the air in there. That’s why they keep asking for fuel. The IDF tweeted a picture last week I think, telling Gazans to ask Hamas for fuel. The pictures had views of the tanks.

The hostages that were released also described the underground maze of tunnels where they were kept. Including a big room with 25 people. The leaders are well hidden within this tunnel system.

So yes, the last paragraph is correct. They have sucked all the money, all the cement and supplies sent to rebuild Gaza away from the people. Supplies were sent to build schools and hospitals over the years. It went to hamas. They took apart the water pipes and used them to make rockets. The tunnel system underground is probably actually amazing. Rumors have it that they took people for a few months and kept killing them so no one would report to the Israelis what they were doing.
This is hearsay, not anything that can be confirmed. Just rumors we’ve heard. They’ve been the elected government since 2006. They’ve had a lot of time to perfect their tunnels. G-d help both the hostages and our soldiers, because this is going to get a lot worse if they have to enter the tunnels.

All the international money that has flowed to Gaza and the PA: millions and millions of dollars, is used for the tunnels and weapons of war. They accept no responsibility for the people of the West Bank and Gaza. It probably took a billion or so dollars to build the tunnels under mosques, hospitals, apartment buildings, and other civilian structures. All of the money came from international aid and from Qatar. The US has been a big donor. UNWRA (UN Works and Relief Agency) in Gaza is 90% Hamas.

Hostages? He didn’t say this but what sense does it make to let these scum take advantage of your good nature and get many more Israeli troops killed than there are hostages they’re trying to rescue? The hostage deaths are and always will be due to Hamas just as all of Gaza civilians who die will die because Hamas hides behind them.

Lotta missing information. Sets the objectives/options. For example….
How many entry and exit points? Hamas terrorists have to enter/exit by these points. What numbers of bodies are being projected? i.e., this is observable.
Location of entry/exit points? We already know the probability is very high that entry points are in locations being used as human shields. Implications?
What percentage of total footage is actually at a “safe” (from buster munitions) depth?
What percentage of total footage is actually concrete reinforced?
No one noticed the large amounts of geology being relocated? This is an indicator of depth. No one noticed the concrete and other hardening structures being moved? No one noticed 5-10 thousand missiles networked into the tunnel fabric?
Are IEDs/booby traps a double edged sword? i.e., reduces total navigable milage to some level less than 300 mis – for all parties once the fight is on…if one accepts the analogy of a minefield.
Supply chains for all this can’t be infiltrated and compromised? Hence, Israel shutting down electricity, for example?
All the systems needed for life support. These don’t have vulnerabilities over time?
Communications chains can’t be compromised?
Who knowingly funded all of this? Expands the target set – if one has to be blunt.

This protects Hamas terrorists. But doesn’t it also concentrate their forces to a limited space? Once tunnel locations are determined, entrance by entrance/exit by exit, are not the Hamas terrorists caged in their own trap?

In NYC they’ve been trying out a new rat killing procedure they claim is “100%” effective; pumping carbon monoxide into the rat holes. Sounds like something they could do in the hellscape of Gaza. Then afterward the IDF can go in & collect intelligence before blowing up every inch of tunnel.

Tunnels, sure; not sure they’re as sophisticated as the images shown. Doesn’t matter as the point of the post, for me, is the convenient tie-in to Russia, that is, to Putin – so just more State Dept. effort to paint Putin with the same brush as people who put a baby in the oven and celebrate that with jokes.
That’s the real point of story being presented now, because the powers that be want, need, more money for their pet Ukraine and with all eyes on Israel, plus a new Speaker of the House intent on separating the appropriations to the two countries into separate bills, public opinion must now receive the double-nudge effort to retrain our opinion to see only one bad person in the world right now – Putin.

Yes, and it does not matter how deep …. 1 meter or 200 meters under the surface. Seeing the construction of the tunnel in the photo above … allot of very complex and modern machinery would be needed to build them “by hand”.
Time is immaterial as tunnels such as these would be built in phsses and over many years by a a very patient enemy.
The real crime here that is NOT discussed is the COST in terms of machinery and money to do the work. This tells one where ALLOT of the Aid to Palestine from ALL Sources money was used.
A Bobcat skid steer is not complex machine. Neither is the small haul truck truck it loads.
Knowing the sensitivity of “modern” seismic instruments, since even the 1970’s, and just seeing construction of the tunnels in the photo in Sundance’s article … there is no way these tunnels were built in any form of “secrecy” due to the machinery, materials and processes required to make them.
The trick would be hitting them as the critical parts of these tunnels are located under heavily populated areas … recall from ALL the earlier Israeli incursions into Gaza, the best they could do was collapse entrances near the Israeli Border. This puts some clarity into the declaration by Israeli leaders about battling underground because that it exactly what will need to happen … before the battle in the tunnels can occur, the Israeli’s will have to capture and occupy ALL urban areas around the entrances and over top of them.
That being said … fun historical note … I have visited and explored many massive natural and man made underground caverns and cave systems. One of the most fascinating that really boggles the mind is the massive underground ANCIENT HANDMADE cities and castles located in the volcanic region of Cappadocia (East of Ankara) Turkey. These are testament to what could be today.
Gaza has had tunnels under it since antiquity. It is also no secret Hamas was building tunnels. They did it in plain sight. They also have more camouflaged entrances and exits than can be found, guarded, or destroyed.
Gaza should never have been turned over to the Palestinians, ie, to the terrorists. Immediately, Hamas warred with Fatah and it’s been nothing but hell since. A police state would have been less costly and certainly would not have led to 300 miles of tunnels 200 feet underground. The economy and living conditions would have been immeasurably better.
Giving a pass to those Israelis who voted for, supported, demonstrated in favor of an independent Gaza is akin to sympathizing with voters in blue cities who never learn. And after 20 years, if you live in a suburb of a blue city, the crime and murders have now expanded to include you, using the dystopian blue city as their base of which they return to.
Hay folks let’s stop debating “HOW’ OR “WHAT IF”. What we do know is that this type of evil is inside our borders. WE KNOW THIS, IT IS NOT IF BUT WHEN!!!!

I’m sure the Israeli engineers are analyzing these videos in detail.
I’m no engineer, but the tunnel ceilings and walls look like prefab concrete slabs manhandled into place. To me, they don’t show a lot of evidence of being poured in place. The tunnel walls look to be a couple inches thick, the roof looks stacked on the top horizontal edge of the wall, they don’t look secured by any obvious means. The larger rooms appear to have dirt walls/ceilings, maybe rock. Looks like easy work for a bunker buster to me. I would be interested in any of a miner’s viewpoint as well as a concrete engineer’s input should you read this.
SD also mentions the proximity to the sea and possible water intrusion being a problem. From whai I’ve seen in other video, this area seems rocky versus sandy as on our esdtcoadt. If that is indeed an issue this close to the sea, I’d be interested in a soils engineer’s observations. Seems to me solutions to such an issue would be very sophisticated and very expensive.
All in all, I’m not overly impressed with the engineering.
Does the US have enough “Bunker Busters” to destroy 300 miles of tunnels. I highly doubt it. Nor do we have the manufacturing ability to build bombs quickly.

For a journalist this seems like a major feat. For an old miner 300 feet is just getting a start. We have mines that are miles underground. Technology for underground goes back as far as humanity. Moving millions of tons of ore body is a daily routine for many. We do it for the ore. They do it for another reason please dont think its a major feat to accomplish. Yup. digging and removing dirt under ground or above is easy. The technology has been around for millenniums.
In many mines hauling 100,000 tons of dirt is common everyday thing, and happens every shift.
One thing to keep in mind is that cities in this part of the world are frequently built on top of the rubble of other cities, a practice that has been ongoing for thousands of years. So tunneling through all that debris–even down to a deep level may–not be as farfetched as you might think.
Look at oilfield maps they can view the landscape 10 miles with ground penetrating radar and map the oil and gas to within the size of a vollyball for 10 miles. Monkey Werx on youtube has sat on military planes 10 years ago mapping out battlefields. America has maps of below ground up to 2 miles on USGS website. In the 1040 they connected the Eisenhower tunnel over the continental divide. 2 teams one on the West side one on the EAst when they met in the middle they were within 1” of each other. Sweden and Norway have thousands of miles of tunnels thru the mountains for their road systems. They are using this due to the publics ignorance.
