The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) released an urgent consumer notification that Citgo fuel services from the Port of Tampa accidentally mixed Diesel Fuel into gasoline tanker trucks that offloaded product at gas pumps in Tampa, Fort Myers, Cape Coral and other areas. [FDACS Notice HERE]
Customers who purchased Citgo gas at the affected areas after August 26th are at risk. Those fuel stations pumped diesel instead of unleaded gasoline.
(AP) – […] The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services said late Sunday that gasoline purchased after 10 a.m. Saturday at some Citgo-supplied stations had a strong likelihood of being contaminated with diesel fuel. Citgo identified 29 affected stations — sold at chains like 7-Eleven, BJ’s Wholesale and other convenience stores — in cities including Tampa, Fort Myers, Sarasota and more.
(FDACS) – […] PLEASE NOTE: Under state and federal law, FDACS must rely upon CITGO to provide the list of impacted gas stations. Consumers should be aware that the company may update this list. FDACS will also update this list as necessary as of result of increased fuel testing in the impacted areas.
Contaminated gasoline and diesel have the potential of causing engine damage or affecting operability. Impacted stations have been asked to stop selling gas until the contaminated fuel is replaced and tanks are cleaned. Once the stations are cleared or have completed a corrective action plan fuel will once again be safe for purchase.
If you purchased gas from affected stations after 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 26, the Florida Department of Agriculture of Consumer services advises consumers that vehicles or generators may not properly function.
FDACS has opened up the consumer hotline to receive complaints from impacted consumers. If you believe you were sold contaminated gasoline, you can file a complaint by calling 1-800-HELP-FLA online at www.fdacs.gov.
FDACS is coordinating with the Division of Emergency Management (FDEM). FDEM is coordinating with petroleum retailers, ports and all additional stakeholders to ensure that this disruption won’t be widespread and that residents can have seamless access to fuel. At the direction of the Governor, FDEM has already waived size, weight, and hour restrictions to get resources into the state as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Citgo added the following information for Florida consumers:
CITGO has a contamination issue at its Tampa terminal that is affecting fuel sold at the following retail locations in the Tampa area. Please be advised that CITGO is working with the locations to remove contaminated product from these locations. In the meantime, thank you for patience and understanding as we work to return these locations to normal operations. If, however, you have purchased fuel from one of these locations on or after Aug. 26, and are concerned your vehicle may be impacted, you can initiate a claim through the CITGO Good Gas Guarantee program https://www.citgo.com/contact-us. (more)
Best guess is no permanent engine damage but the engines will not run until their fuel tanks are dumped and refilled with petroleum. Then they have to crank long enough for the gasoline to reach the carburetor or injection system.
You may be able to drain small engines like gensets rather easily. Vehicles may respond to siphoning out all the fuel that you can get out and then refilling with fresh gasoline.
The opposite scenario of gasoline in a diesel vehicle or engine is catastrophic engine failure.
(I am not a licensed mechanic)
There are several variables at play. The level of contamination in the original shipments. The fuel level in the station tanks prior to being contaminated and the amount of fuel in the engine’s tank before adding. Responses to the contamination would vary accordingly.
Well, if diesel makes it past the fuel pump and to the engine it will clog injectors and spark plugs. So the average car/truck will need a fuel pump, spark plugs, injectors, fuel filter and the tank and lines flushed. Not inexpensive. Also, no need to crank an engine to get fuel to the engine. That stopped decades ago with fuel injection as they have electric fuel pumps that pressurize the system when the key is turned on.
Agree mostly, the variable lies in the dilution of diesel in the vehicle tank. A small amount such as in a top off the tank scenario will most likely not be noticed, for years tranny fluid, marvel mystery oil, and diesel have been put in gas tanks.
If the problem of rough running is experienced and not to severe due to not enough dilution in some situations if you can tough it out and start adding known good gas to dilute.
A good full fuel system cleaner will help with the residue from the diesel.
Have done research and experiments on the cleaners, for the most part have figured out what and what percentage the ingredients are, seems diesel is the lubricant part, the others will be for another days discussion.
In higher concentrations it will act as you stated, I was trying to picture a clogged spark plug, what came to mind was the days of an older engine with bad rings burning oil from crankcase, it was always a wonder on how the plugs fired at all.
Hopefully this snafu didn’t effect anyone in a way that was harmful to there physical health during and after this event.
Hope all are safe.
We got one small band here on east coast just enough to not run the sprinklers.
Another variable. I was attempting to cover both small engines and vehicles. It would depend upon the vehicle. Perfect solution is what you describe. It may not take all that just to get moving again.
sitting on I-4 , I-95 with kids, dogs, and stress trying to evacuate, with a stranded car is on a special scale of evil. incompetence abounds, nobody is accountable.
But, but, but, human error! Sorta like “I forgot”.
Exactly — they didn’t want to be exposed for blocking traffic out of the kill zone (like they were in Lahaina), so this was a better play.
So sorry, I can just hear the kids asking “when is the car going to start Daddy?. I’m hungry, where are we going to eat?” Stress to the nineth nerve. Good luck to you, your family and dogs.
There are no coincidences.
Like Maui.
You and yours didn’t burn to death trying to escape.
But they did hope you would all drown.
Monti, it’s not just draining….the engines may require seals and other components to be changed out. Depending on the type of materials used, diesel can be very destructive in a gas engine. And vice versa.
I was hoping folks would comprehend “may” and “variable”. If I was intent on evacuation I would have given it a try. The things you attempt when the Chips are down are different than the everyday.
Adapt and overcome.
The difference between getting a simple generator running again after contaminated fuel and a vehicle could be significant. Perhaps I should have been even more specific.
The difference between putting diesel in a gasoline engine (not good may not run) and putting gasoline in a diesel engine (blown engine) are extreme.
I have delt with contaminated fuel and dirty old fuel tanks. Sometimes you just have to give things a try.
I hope all the Floridians and other Americans affected by “Idalia” will survive and life will soon return to normal. The inexplicable fuel contamination is an unfortunate mix up and I genuinely feel sorry for the people facing this recent “challenge.”
I sympathize more perhaps because we were recently covered by massive smoke clouds for weeks with particulate concentrations often way above the maximum recorded levels and other close family members were forced to evacuate the fire onslaughts in their areas. Fortunately for them, all have now returned to intact homes while hundreds of others were not as fortunate. One is an exhausted firefighter who had to leave his family to fight the fires for several days (or weeks). Not fun times for sure.
Sounds like Northeast Washington
Cue Suspicious Cat….
That’s another reason to go to Wawa….(not a paid endorsement).
I’ve often wondered about that meeting.
Imagine a sparkling conference room, the table surrounded by all the investors, ad agency hired to launch it, etc..
”Gentlemen, we’ve decided to call it… WaWa.”
I mean…. 🤣
It’s the name of the Pennsylvania town where the first store opened.
Guessing native indian name origin
Or, they smoked a little too much of the peace pipe
Named after the bird. See the Wawa logo.
Correct. Indian name for Canadian Goose.
Grew up near there. Grandma took me to visit the dairy, right off Route 1 in Southeastern PA
I love their soft pretzels 😜. Wish we had them in Tennessee.
My Dad will get a kick out of hearing this, actually.
My children’s mother is French.
In France, and I believe several Latin languages, variants of “Papi” means grandfather.
Often, Papi is accompanied by a diminutive of a first name, as a term of endearment.
So once I became a father, my Dad was gifted the name “Papi Wawa”
Now their goose in the logo makes perfect sense. Thanks.
No need to cue the suspicious cat.
The dog nailed it.
Me too I get my gas at Wawa but me thinks if they wanted to cause a problem they would find a way to taint Wawa gas too.
These past few years have made me a cynic, questioning all sorts of things. So I have to ask, Was this an accidental contamination?
All on purpose……
Good question.
CITGO is a Venezuelan Govt owned company. I am hearing bad things are taking place down there right now.
I am familiar with CITGO because Joe Kennedy for Oil would give out heating fuel here in the Northeast to needy families. There were TV commercials about it. Joe Kennedy being RFK Jr’s brother. It was presented as some great humanitarian gesture. Then everyone found out his salary from this non-profit was $700,000 per year. A real non-profit alright.
We would laugh at it because we knew the fuel was coming from Venezuela, a place not well known for their humanitarianism.
Almost certainly not. Given that the Hawaii wildfires had police agencies trapping people attempting to flee the fires the odds of this “accidental” contamination actually being an accident when it serves again to trap people in the path of natural disaster is laughably improbable.
I suspect these may be arranged to fulfill some twisted sacrificial element that condemns the innocent to natural disaster.
TPTB certainly seem to derive perverse pleasure in human sacrifice and suffering.
Diogenes, I fear you are correct about the sacrificial aspect of this.
It’s a terrifying thought, but these people worship “climate,” and may indeed think they are “appeasing” some weather god.
The weather itself is engineered (most certainly so in this case) and so are the “accidents.”
The practice of geo-engineering is in vogue at an ivory tower:
https://keith.seas.harvard.edu/people/david-keith
Many MAGA supporters in FL, so of course there will be “accidents” like this happening. We are under siege.
My thoughts EXACTLY!
#Maui
Kitty, I am with you asking that same question. I made the decision years ago to start with everything being an operation until proven it is not.
On the other hand…
“Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.”
Hanlon’s Razor
It’s not stupidity. It is very serious Evil.
My very first thought, exactly. But I see very expensive lawsuits over this.
Last I read at GP it was human error.
Very convenient.
And if not mistaken, Citgo is the socialistVenezuelan state owned gas producer/owner.
Incompetence or intentional?
Suspicious cats!
Sand in the gears?
Incompetence or sabotage. Sadly with all the fossil fuel haters it does come to mind. Adaila went way west of us near Tampa. Praise God and co tcontinuing to pray for those in her path🙏🙏🙏
Sabotage was the first word that came to mind…
Stay safe everyone
I’m sure this was just an accident.
I’m now skeptical of anything being an accident. Just this past week it was in the news that US officials are in talks with Venezuela about our sanctions and the ties to their needing to ensure free and fair elections. We all know what that means – we probably made a deal with Maduro that we could guarantee his continued power, we just need a few favors.
It will be interesting to see if Maduro is reelected if we are involved in Venezuela’s election.
I think Venezuela uses Dominion machines.
Does the Tampa Terminal hire illegals? Do their employees have to be literate?
My exact thought. Everyone says sabotage; very few consider stupidity and incompetence.
Very few realize the level and extent of the stupidity. I have been saying this for over 20 years as it relates to “healthcare” workers. The things I’ve seen.
Its truly horrifying that the job of RN’s and LPN’s to assist Physicians in office settings has been completely replaced by “MA’s” aka Medical Assistants–who are tasked with triaging the patient and entering in VITAL info into charts….the requirement to be an MA is a high school diploma or GED. Thats it. NO MEDICAL TRAINING.
Totally agree. I remember in the late 90’s this started happening. In the practice that I worked for, our docs were holding fast to the practice of RNs being on premises all the time, doing all the phone work of triaging, calling in scripts, med injections, patient assessment, patient teaching and charting. It all changed when the practice joined the hospital system. I also taught several classes in MA in our Vo Tech school.
It is frightening to know how in over their head they are. The nursing organizations did one thing right, made the MAs liability under the Physicians and not nurses. Small consulation for patients who cannot differentiate a nurse from a phlebotomist. This practice of unlicensed personnel has expanded into many areas of medicine, noteably pharmacy and physical therapy. Again, patients are unaware.
my last visit to the ER verifies that. there used to be a “medical feel” to the ER. now, it feels like target.
“Medical training” has been corrupted for decades.
Not surprising…three years ago I broke my leg .
I did not subject myself to the med tyranny going on so I took care of the injury on my own. It took two years to navigate without a cane, or to be able to put left shoe on without using the hook of the cane, just within the past six months I can now bend my leg to operate the shifter on the four wheeler instead of using the cane hook….but no hundreds of thousands of ” doctor” bills, and no risk of ending up jabbed and put on a vent to never return home.
And I worked as a medic in the hospital when I was in the wacs…so I know what’s right and what not .
Wow, cool story.
I want to live next door to you when the SHTF!
Common down! We have hundred plus acres, spring fed stream that feeds into a big creek, hand crank well, lots of beautiful egg laying chickens, plenty of deer, and right now, a big tangle of Passion fruit vines with beautiful flowers and passion fruit coming on.
One of my greatest concerns is the language barrier when interacting with these “MA”s. When I sit in that office and struggle to understand them it brings serious doubt that my information is being recorded correctly. I can’t verify this life critical information when I can’t understand a single word they’re mumbling.
My favorite is the AA hires w/chips on their shoulders.
Here they are called “Providers”. Most really do not know what they are doing.
I can attest to that, at least at my oral surgeon’s office. Last 2 visits the surgeon’s assistant applied numbing swabs to the WRONG side of my mouth where the procedure was to be done.
Same nurse, same mistake.
Yep. I remember my dad going in for hernia surgery and he took a Sharpie and wrote “wrong side” on his skin!
I was in healthcare for 35 years (Physical Therapist), and so glad I retired in 2005. Healthcare is a shambles now, I don’t trust anything or anybody anymore!
Neither do I.
I have a few stories, myself. Been there on both sides of it (helped my sister look after my mom in her last years). There are still a few pockets where the old rules apply; but they’re shrinking fast as the old school folk leave and the newly indoctrinated in leftism ones replace them.
We need a separate post for this topic. I have stories 😱
War stories!!!!
Perfect description.
FWIW, no docs for me unless I’m bleeding and/or no other way to get the very few scripts I need.
BTW, about 6 weeks ago I started taking oregano oil gelcaps for parasites. Several serious health issues have since IMPROVED SIGNIFICANTLY, including blood pressure, IBS, skin problems, breathing issues (no more CPAP), and have lost weight. Nearly everyone has parasites – I highly recommend doing some homework/research and then de-worming.
P.S. I am NOT a medical professional.
I’m with you!
AMEN!!!!!
Did I say that loud enough???
Don’t even get me started on healthcare (or the absolute ABSENCE of it).
Very true! In the past few years the uptick in misdelivered mail from the USPS has been huge. Almost as if their workers can’t read!
They cannot read cursive.
Nor can they read English.
They can’t even speak English!
I was told by a mail carrier that he couldn’t read English. Only understood numbers.
Yesterday we had a new gal who was lost, AND could not speak English.
Yep, its the perfect storm.
Complex systems won’t survive the competence crisis. (aka, thanks for the diversity, cultural Marxists, it sure is better than keeping the lights on!)
I just posted about the same thought.
Thank you.
CITGO=Venezuela
Nothing to see here…
Sabotage
I cannot recall something like this ever happening before.
I was ‘born in the 50s‘
I can tell the difference in pouring a glass of whole milk vs skim just by looking at it. Have you ever observed our younger generations?
There is a lot to be said for learning things the hard way 😉
Yep
There’s a reason the Navy in certain A schools teaches that screwdrivers are not meant to close a circuit between breakers particularly in high voltage systems.
As a young sailor in A school…we were taught that during our tool training…..someone beat me to the question “Why are you saying that? It’s obvious you don’t use a screwdriver to close a circuit.”
The reply “If I’m teaching it, it’s because it happened. So….let that be another lesson while out in the fleet. There are idiots to your left and right so pay attention.”
They don’t do dairy. Only nut milk.
You got me there! And while on the subject, Why is YooHoo not allowed to say chocolate milk on their label. Decades ago, they had to use “chocolate drink” because it really isn’t milk. Sooooooo, how does the Almond people (and every other nut out there) get away with false advertising? I have always attributed it to the strong Almond lobby. They can do anything they want.
Yes it happens occasionally. The timing however certainly makes one wonder.
Thanks commies…..
CITGO is owned by CITGO Holding, Inc., an indirect, wholly owned subsidiary of Petróleos de Venezuela, S.A. (PDVSA), the national oil company of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
Why we continue to rely on other countries for our life sustaining consumer goods is beyond all logical sense. I remember as a kid in grammer school being told how our farmers were paid not to grow wheat so other countries could have a share of the global market. That was over 60 years ago.
Once known as “The Bread Basket of the World”, there was never a need of the American people that the American people could not meet. No more.
Wait until it’s more than diesel/engine contamination. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
Right. .. and it is an obvious national security risk to all Americans.
I read a while back that we get 90% of our antibiotics from China. Hmmm… many illnesses require antibiotics. If u get them you recover in 7 days. If you do not, you will likely die.
Yes, agree. My mom had a “bad batch” of BP medication from China. She suffered for an entire year with crippling skin rashes and peeling of the soles of her feet, her hands, total hair loss, pain. AND, the pharmacy did not even file a VAERS, said there was no system for reporting.
*Anybody* can file a drug adverse event report – but not through VAERS, that’s only for Vx.
{ FDA Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS) | FDA – U.S. Food and Drug … }
There is a separate drug adverse events reporting system for the VA…
{ VA Adverse Drug Event Reporting System – Veterans Affairs }
The public is only slightly less informed than the medical professionals… it’s called “medical *practice*” for obvious reasons.
A friend began having uncharacteristic health problems so he consulted an md… the dr. he went to prescribed “medicine”; I asked about his history and discovered he’d been given an unusual antibiotic (by the same dr) shortly before his difficulty began, so I suggested he go to a holistic doc & inform correctly about this without being asked (the md never so much as asked if he tolerated the antibiotic he prescribed).
The Holistic doc took note, the possibility of adverse drug event was investigated properly, and in fact determined to be the cause of friend’s disruption; the ‘new medication’ would have done nothing to abate/resolve his problem and could have caused other problems besides, according to its mfg. package insert side-effects/contraindications/precautions-profile information
(found in the PDR link below***).
SOP; Happens all the flippin’ time!
It took the better part of a year for my friend (husband of my good friend & Doula client) to completely resolve the drug adverse reaction sequelae *with correct rebalancing treatment* guidance from the holistic doc; which would have not been so well resolved – or maybe never resolved – by the MD who caused him this trouble in the first place. The Holistic doc was *happy to file the AERS report* and submit the follow-ups to that report. Holistic docs are *competent clinicians/physicians*.
It’s frustrating that most people don’t have enough curiosity about their own body’s functioning & health to educate themselves on the bare-basics of just the basics… apart from pHARMa & pHARMa’s profiteering minions’ “advice”.
Anybody who can read can learn all they need to know!… the information is FREE in every library in the country.. – and now on the internet.
A person can go through pre-med anatomy & physiology education independently with library books &/or on the net – pretty much that information is all there for students (anyone!) to access;
‘what have we got & how does it work?’ is the foundation of awareness to keeping one’s self strong & healthy.
Beyond that, there are magnificent books available – 2 are titled: ‘Where There Is No Doctor’ and ‘The Anatomy Coloring Book’;
and also many books on first aid/emergency medical care – before the first responders arrive, correctly doing what you can, can make all the difference. “Spiritual Midwifery” is a pregnancy & childbirth textbook – half is factual out-of-hospital birth accounts, and the other half is factual anatomy & physiology of pregnancy/childbirth; it’s written by a Midwife who has had a ‘medical/obstetric technique’ named after her (they embarrass themselves – midwives have been doing this for thousands of years, literally).
It isn’t rocket science… it’s basic information easily understood by almost anyone with a slight modicum of curiousity.
*all pHARMa drugs are toxic to Human health in some manner to some degree* (JDRockefeller’s petroleum-based, allopathic system-for-profit) – proceed with extreme caution!
***Physician’s Desk Reference – go look at your/your Loved ones’ drugs’ profile(s)!
{ PDR.Net | Fully Searchable Drug Information }
There are non-toxic EFFECTIVE alternatives to every pHARMa drug ever invented/sold – which *do not make people sick/sicker, so do not generate profits for the ConMedpHARMafia cult*. What a concept!
I’m praying for all those affected by the hurricane – including responders – to find competent attention & care for their medical needs, and to be given appropriate help & assistance in *all* dimensions of their experience & needs.
Citgo – Venezuela – distributed diesel as gasoline – in advance of mandatory evacuation.
I’m in suspicious cat mode right now…
Prayers for Sundance and CERT; also for friends and family in the Tampa area. 🙏
Sabotage.
a ‘transportation accident’ while Ron was away playing fake president. what timing. all those tags have to be cleaned before they can except fresh product.
Government shutdowns got rid of skilled labor… When the hell has this happened before?
Yesterday a friend of ours who usually drives a truck in Miami hauling away wastewater for the cruise lines was told he needed to head to Tampa for the whole week or more. He said something about contaminated gas but this article explains it well. Heads need to roll for an error of this magnitude in the middle of a hurricane!
Yes, in Sodom on Potomac.
That works, so does Mordor in the Potomac ;).
I want to say,”FUBAR” but in actuality I see we are under attack.
Cash for clunkers ?
Cars bad. Cows bad. Beer bad. People bad. Orange man bad. Somebody please make it stop!
No chips, so, handicap for the gubmint controllers.
Can’t have that!
“AtlasShrugged”. All the producers are slowly leaving
How often does this happen? Never heard of it before.
I have, though. Pretty rare, particularly after they made color coded and keyed fittings. Accidents happen, and some sabotage can be made to look like an accident.
Interesting, and sad for the people in FL. Did that contamination come as far as Connecticut? I went to fill up yesterday at Citgo. All the pumps said, “Pump station not working.” Did they know what happened? Is that why the pumps were not working?
That happened to me as well last week here in Connecticut. The Citgo near me had no gasoline at all for one whole day. That has never happened before.
Yikes for both of you!
CT is already contaminated by their D majority legislature and the Clown Prince Chris Murphy.
~Old Lyme, 1960’s
“Accidental”?
Putting diesel in gasoline tanker trucks?
How often has this happened?
“Never let a crisis go to waste”?
Bingo
Bing
Bingo
If people still believe in a “Coincidence” they seriously need to wake up because there is no such thing.
What are the Vegas odds that this would happen in the path of a storm ?
I have seen FUBARs, that is beyond FUBAR!
I know things happen, but it’s a stretch to get #2 oil/ diesel fuel mixed up with unleaded gas (hopefully no ethanol)
Hope there is no chance of DEW’s like in Maui – Guess it’s to wet now.
-1; ‘DEW’
Just think what they could do to Water supplies.
Don’t give them ideas.
Government has been injecting fluoride into the water supply for decades.
Are there any instances of this occurring anywhere else in this Country previously? I can’t think of a single one. That tells me it must be very difficult to do unintentionally. Too many control measures are in place at these terminals that ensure it doesn’t happen. Maybe it was incompetence, but I doubt it.
My son is an ASE certified Mechanic.
I just sent him a text and asked about, let’s say, 10% contaminations.
He says he has drained tanks that had been filled by mistake with diesel, then refilled with gas, and they ran fine, no damage. He says they won’t run otherwise.
He says it may run a little rough until the diesel worked itself out but probably no damage.
My husband accidentally put diesel into the gas tank of our vehicle a few years ago. Luckily when he went in to the store to pay the attendant told him it was diesel, not gas.
We had a trusted mechanic nearby that he called immediately. His first question was have you started the vehicle and my husband so no, it’s still at the pump. He advised him not to that it would ruin the engine.
Cost us a tow to the shop and clean up of the tank. I remember we felt lucky there was no more damage.
its fine and dandy unless you are trying to evacuate.
Ok. My cynical tinfoil hat persona says this was done on
purpose to creat mayhem to push for climate change lockdowns and for EVs
There have been a few articles on how unreliable EVs are for emergencies etc
most likely this was a direct act to show that gasoline powered cars are also at risk.
That is my feel. Along with Maui, their actions are not even hidden anymore.
And/or to just move people out of their homes. Maybe the rich want the land. Maybe they just think that particular area is too expensive to maintain. Maybe they want to displace and dispossess and get rid of certain types of people. Or all of the above.
I’d love to hear from someone who might know how this ‘mistake’ impacted the situation concretely. That might give us some clues about whether it was truly accidental.
Interesting.
The affect on vehicles will vary based on the dilution level of the fuel.
That said, it only takes one or two disabled vehicles on any escape route to snarl traffic for hours.
Just like a tank column. Take out the lead vehicle and the rest are stuck.
Really good point. Some on here are fleshing out just how destructive a seemingly containable ‘mistake’ can be during a disaster.
I suggest Citgo vigorously vet their DEI hires.
This was not a mistake.
Intentional sabotage.
Would be key to find out who was driving the delivery trucks. My guess is, station owners know the drivers on a first name basis. Questioning starts there. Is there any investigative journalism left??
Highly unlikely the station owners know the drivers. Most of these stations were convenience stores. They’re often filled late at night, during the off hours, where only the uneducated cash register attendant is in the building, if anyone’s there at all.
In my situation I supervise every single delivery. Every. Single. One. Before fuel is dropped a sample is taken where it is annalized visually, and checked for its temperature and more importantly, the fuel’s specific gravity. Only after those quality control steps are taken is the fuel transferred. But, then again, aviation tends to bring about more attention to safety issues.
Well and properly done. Sure it costs more; but in the long run, it is worth it; particularly for aviation! (I’ve taken pilot lessons, and pilots have fuel integrity checks as a part of their flight checklist.)
Oh well,,,, accidents happen,,,,, sarc.
Is the premium and mid-grade also compromised? They are stored in separate tanks, are they not? stop using the contaminated. use the other grades.
Often, “Regular” and “Premium” are mixed at the pump to create “mid-grade”.
Then buy premium.
But, but, but, don’t EVs eliminate this problem!? 🙂
At least captain meatball paid a visit to the state
In the meantime your car is ruined.
That actually happened to me in Ontario about 9 years ago and nearly killed my car. All in all about 20 cars got the accidental gas/diesel mixture, and my car died shortly after. The cost to tow and fix mine alone was over $4,000, so someone paid a hefty price for their mistake and our village was quieter for a few days while all the vehicles were sorted out.
Hmmm … a great way to buy diesel fuel at the price of regular gasoline … (Diesel is priced HIGHER than regular nowadays)
Except, any significant amount of gasoline present will probably destroy the diesel engine…
Money had nothing to do with this action, it was premeditated sabotage to cause damage and injury. Nobody will ever know who order this sabotage. CITCO is owned by a hedge fund that operates off shore.
Note that the Smeets Family NO LONGER owns CITCO, which is the primary cover business of the Hedge Fund that owns the Smeets family. It also appears the hedge fund has a major stake in Wells Fargo … go figure … as they control the Wells Fargo Operation in the Caymens.
Description of CITCO
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citco
Is Wells Fargo a government office of the owners of “Jack’s Coffee Shop” (X-Twitter)??
While it is possible that the drivers did not know they were picking-up diesel, it is interesting that they did not SMELL something fishy at points of delivery.
Due to chemical composition and additives, Gasoline and Diesel have very distinctly DIFFERENT odors. I pumped 1,000’s of gallons of both during my days in the service. When pumping fuels into storage tanks at points of delivery there is ALLOT of Odor due to the pressure of the pumps on the fuel trucks causing evaporation of the fuels.
Of course given the level of education today, who knows.
APPOLOGIES and ALERT … I made a very bad MISTAKE … I searched on CITCO instead of CITGO … my bad for not checking.
A Venezuelan company with deep financial roots into the US.
However, there is an interesting item in the company description, $500,000 “donated to the inauguration of President Trump. How long before that surfaces??

My suspicious cat face has great form as I read this… sounds like domestic terrorism… they desperately want a news cycle of pain and suffering of a deep red state.
I’ve never ever heard of an “accident” like that before. Does anyone recall an accident like this in the fuel industry? Seems weird and also seems to fit in with sabotage.
I have a hard time believing “ordinary Joe” truck drivers would do something like this. That’s why I think it’s important to learn who made the last delivery.
They had one job.
I do not believe there were any mistakes in Maui and this fuel sabotage was not a mistake either.
Citgo is Venezuela. Thanks Joe!
Nope CITGO is NOT Venezuelan.
CITGO is owned by the murkiest of financial entities, a US Hedge Fund, using the Smeets Foundation and Wells Fargo Caymens as a front.
The US Government did this.
That’s the bank that has frozen Wendy Williams’ family out of control of her assets, her adult son specifically. I have studied the situation and while kind of gray in some places, the strongest evidence supports respecting the documents that give Wendy’s own son, as opposed to Wells Fargo, control of his mother’s assets.
I wondered what happened to Wendy. During her last season, the show wasn’t good, and you could feel something was wrong. I assumed she had a health or drug problem.
Hey! Lookie There! A Mistake that I have Never heard of and it happened in 29 places. GASOLINE smells, diesel is much easier on the nose. The Hose has to be connected. Aaand Disconnected,, and if you’re handling diesel and gasoline, DAILY, you Know WTF is going through the hose. Not Before the First stop. But when you disconnect, you Certainly will.. And NOBODY figured it out and called the office? Give ME a Break. It would be interesting to know if anything Happens to any drivers in the comin weeks.
I don’t dump this on the drivers. My guess is a Port of Tampa FU.
Just a guess: an 80/20 gas/diesel mix wouldn’t run in most gas vehicles. I could do better sniffing beers or scotches.
We are officially seeing our first flooding in Times Square on Fort Myers Beach
Hmmmm. Where’s the suspicious cat? Hard to believe this is a coincidence. Sorry. I question everything now days. There are a zillion questions about Maui, and they are keeping information away from the people and have actually put up a black fence or wall around the area so people can not see, report or take pictures. There is something going on there that definately is not right…and they have no answer for all the missing kids? Now we have a major storm hitting Florida…the west coast…where Tampa is and they just happen to get all this contaminated fuel? Reminds me when Florida was using and pushing monoclonal antibodies during Covid that was working much better that the killer Fauci pushed… Remdesivir. The Biden regime went out of its way to try to cut Florida off from this.
Look at Maui….roads of escape closed, water turned off, no warning system alerts to the people. Almost like an organized, orchestrated agenda to trap the natives in the fires. You know…these world elites have wanted this land for quite some time…have they made their move? There are people there saying they believe that DEW weapons were used based on the way things burned…even metal like cars, while other things were left untouched. I know….conspiracy theory, right? Oh well, I do not trust this government, the media, the narratives, or our so called leaders! At all!!!
Yes, things left untouched like Oprah’s & Barry’s mansions. It’s not just suspicious anymore, it’s blatantly in your face.
