Things are a little weird in Iowa as one of the candidates thought it would be a great idea to start rapping on stage, and then things get really uncomfortable. There are moments in every eco-chambering campaign where the responsible voice in the room says, “no – just no” and protects the candidate from the big stupid.
I’m not exactly sure what the goal and objective is here, but (a) Ramalamadingdong did not have that voice in the room; and (b) apparently no longer wants to be considered as a viable candidate. Nothing else quite explains this level of cringe. WATCH:

Wow, that’s the kind of thing that makes you change schools, skip the graduation ceremony, switch jobs, avoid the next few family reunions, etc. There’s no coming back from that – footage of that might be grounds for divorce.
Maybe he could change his name and move to a new city – reinvent himself.
That’s harsh, but true LOL.
or, become a Fox News executive
Maybe he’s trying to reach their fan base:
Would you want their fan base? Just saying
They are getting through to the kind of people we need…
You get it, Mr. Jones.
Vivek’s only job is to split votes from Trump.
Yes, I want EVERYONE to vote for President Trump, I don’t care what they look like! Gen Z, or whatever this generation is calling themselves, are mainly Independents … We need them. If you close your eyes and listen to the lyrics of the Rap song posted above, it’s telling the absolute truth, in a way that young people will be listen to. I had never listened to Ramaswamy until the night he was on stage with President Trump. I thought it was a very good, patriotic speech. I thought that he was young, but had a future in it politics. The next time I saw him, he made a speech that was almost the opposite of what he had said the first time I saw him. He reminds me of a young Obama, he is a very good operator and can change his speech, depending on the crowd he is in front of, and can get away with it. Ramaswamy is a chameleon, he will change his colors depending on the crowd. He is young enough that he can do a rap song without looking like a moron. That will help him with the younger bass. His only mistake here was trying to do rap at the Iowa State Fair. He didn’t read his audience correctly.
So a guy who can “change his speech and get away with it” – like Obama – is what you want in a GOP candidate? C’mon, man. Do you understand what you just wrote?
Our problems are even worse than I thought.
I don’t think that was what Dino was saying. I think Dino clearly stated that Rama speaks from both sides of his mouth and can not be trusted.
That’s exactly was Dino is saying. Not what we need but a lot will be attracted and fooled by ramaswampy like they were by obummer.
Rama was on Candace owens , along with DC Draino who highlights some of these same issues with Rama that he’s noticed throughout his political tenure & continues on the campaign trail. dC draino presses Rama, questioning his conservative views. This interview / commentary is extremely eye-opening and insightful. (IMHO – not ramas best portrayal.)
Yep, that’s more or less what I was trying to say! Only you were courteous enough to call him Obama while I continue and always will call him Obozo. He’s a clown.
Joe Rogan has 11 million viewers, who are “that audience” of young, hip independant/were leaning left potential voters.
He recently gave a 2-3 minute monologue, on WHY “If its Joe vs Trump, I will vote Trump” that was straight out of Sundances article on why PDJT is THE ONLY choice for 2024.
He said in his elevator speech, ‘forget PERSONALITIES, and focus on POLICY, specifically ECONOMIC POLICY.
He then did a brief compare/contrast, between Joes economically disasterous policies, and PDJT’s economic miracle.
THATS how you appeal to ALL voters, NOT by pandering; its ONE message, and no need to be a chameleon.
OMG, NO ONE WANTS ANOTHER OBOZO. He’s already doing “behind the scenes but most of the work for biden and see where it’s gotten things in this country”??? What the hell is wrong with you?
Iowans do not appreciate this crap, certainly not rap music. Older, mostly farmers, don’t even understand that sh(t and neither do I . I could not understand one damned word of it. This is why people are LONGING for times past. A lot of the population is in my age categoty and this junk just doesn’t fly with us and I don’t really think ol’ vivek did much to inspire young voters either, except maybe embarrass them worse than I hope he embarrassed himself. Rich people don’t really care about being embarrassed, I guess. Look at the biden crime family – – they’re just busy trying to find lies and liars who will work for them.
Also, I just turned 70 last week and so I’m no Gen Z’er but I am registered to vote independent. Have been for a long time. To me that just means I never ever vote a straight ticket. I might in 2024 however, because there ain’t a good democrap in sight! NOT. A. ONE.
Sorry….your comment got held in pending ’cause of the change in your username spelling. 😉
Yes, Trump is uniting us all who are not Communists.
These two guys have talent even if you don’t like the genre.
Then he should have covered one of their songs, they have a number that would work well for a MAGA base.
Instead, he chose Eminem, who has made it clear he abhors DJT.
Yes, a Desantis like move if I ever saw one. His campaign manager should have been fired yesterday.
I liked it. Youthful juxtaposition of his competition. Back to Reality oops there goes gravity says a lot about where we want to go. Trump 24!
I am not interested in “youthful” as a criterium for president. There is a time and a place to put on a show. He should have used the time to be a serious, thoughtful, full-of-great-ideas candidate.
If he wants to rap then he should advertise as such.
If another candidate busted out in song on a piano then it, too, would be awkward. Why take precious time from letting the people know what your policy points are with a concert?
All optics.
Not so bad. He’s a good sport, just having some fun.
Not the place, not the crowd.
At a private event for just him, maybe.
And rapping to Eminem?
Eminem has been on the news lately, he was on the epstein list… all for optics to continue to expose the corruption..
????
He’s as anti-MAGA as they come. It’s what made it so awkward, honestly.
Sparky, what say you about your candidate here? Please weigh in if you haven’t already.
Just when Vivek is about to surpass Ron DeSantis to the second spot, then this.
Casey is greatly relieved.
I think you have touched a salient data point. Rama was not supposed to outshine DeSantis, perhaps was told to take himself down in the polls.
Boy oh boy SD’s Ramalamadingdong moniker is super spot on after that cringe fest.
Gravitas……….NOT observed.
I don’t know if America is ready for the spectacle of a President on stage doing a bad rap routine. lol
But then, after two-plus years of a centenarian old geezer doing a bad president routine, while channeling the Three Stooges (with a little Jeffrey Epstein on the side), it’s possible that nothing surprises America anymore, so who am I to say…<shrugs>
And let’s not forget the photos of his son with a crack pipe and in a jock, trainers and muffler.
Or, our current VP.
Often been said, all a VP needs is a pulse, and lip service has been given to “would be able to serve, in the event” but come ON.
Karmala has lowered the bar so low, for VP, just as Joe has lowered it for POTUS,..
This is on the level of Justine Turdeau doing his Bollywood routine while visiting India. Awkward, unnecessary, pandering, and phony.
With a non-pretending approach it is safe to say that this imported person is just trying to capture a niche that is free for the taking. All other iterations are already taken everywhere in Western politics (liberalism, laborism, “nationalism”, marxism/socialism, ecologism, etc)
Stealthily but surely, while our attention has been on the real threat of China, India has been gaining ground in the former Christendom.
Caveat emptor!
That’s why he still has single digit poll numbers.
It’s infuriating to see how many have not figured this guy out yet..
The Gipper did it better…
So much for SwamiRama. Suspicious cat is right on.
With this crowd, he should have lip synced Tom MacDonald’s “White Boy”.
i cant stop laughing at the cat!
geez-us, I was home alone watching that and I turned red and cringed….Think I might start drinking again after that…Poison my ears.
You can be an aspiring Presidential candidate or an aspiring rapper, but you can’t be both. Bring out his mama to tell us he was a good boy.
What I found even stranger was his reported pronouncement that he would pardon Hunter Biden. If true, why would he do so? I understand trying to remove the DoJ from politics, but why should a traitor who helped his father sell US policy and committed all sorts of crimes get a pass for his grifting and criminal conduct? We need equal, fair, sure implimentation of the Rule of Law, not arbitrary privileges for the political elite.
Generational difference. Vivek is my age and I think CTH Boomers are just a tad out of touch. Your kids listened to Eminem back in middle/highschool even if you didn’t like him/rap.
I don’t think we’re looking for an entertainer at this stage of our country.
It’s disappointing to think that a presidential candidate that raps or sings or does showtunes during these serious and dark times is smart enough to tackle serious issues.
It’s as phony and cloying as watching Meatball but hard boiled eggs onto sticks. How utterly stupid.
Yeah, but if you’re going to do it, you’ve got to do it good.
My kids had much better taste in music than that and were into Alternative Rock. Sorry, but Rap music and Rap culture is musical graffiti. It’s spray paint music in giant letters covering the blank walls of your downtown. Rap is a motor vehicle “sideshow” … spinning donuts and leaving rubber on the streets. Rap music is “criminal justice reform” … permitting the theft of $950.00 of your neighbors possessions. Rap music and Rap culture is the soundtrack to the destruction of our culture and country.
And yeah … I saw 8 Mile … wow! A white rapper from Detroit … a genuine “wigger”. So that’s what Viveksection wants to channel? His inner “wigger” in white bread IOWA? Yeah … a piss poor choice … so piss poor as to forever disqualify him from high office.
Break it down!
This. I didn’t see anything wrong w/ it, except maybe not targeting his audience cleanly.
I wonder why all the top R candidates are self immolating lately?
Unconcerned Pence, Fraud denying Meatball, Now Rappin Swamy.
Strange things are afoot.
It’s almost like someone is forcing them to do these things.
Hmmmm.
; )
Setting their hair on fire, in order to hold our attention, so we don’t notice the far more serious anti-Trump candidate, coming up on the outside, and from the left.
“And its Junior, coming up on the outside, to take the lead!”
WATCH for it, its coming.
Rama-Something can follow De-Sanctimonious into the trash bin of irrelevance.
It was a set up by Gov. Reynolds, she being a Desanctimonious supporter ask what is his Vivek’s favorite exit song. AS Vivek was exiting, as a test to his truthfulness, they played it, and he sang the Eminem tune without missing a word. Vivek knows, per the Sunday Morning with Maria this am, the difference between a win and a blow out is the youthful vote, many of which are more familiar with Enimen than Quiet Riot or Frank Sinatra.
Dutifully the conservative press and the Lame stream media made hay about it, right on que. Even this august room seems to
Gepetto can’t be more clear.
Eminem is 50 YEARS OLD. “Young crowd?”
Dantes…: Seriously.
I remember being a young idiot in college. Believe me, 50 years old was dinosaur territory. We all thought that over 30 was old.
I remember the 1960’s hippies had a phrase about Never Trust Anyone Over Thirty.
Young people really do exist in a bubble and think that they are The Next Big Thing That Is Going To Solve All Of The Problems Of The World.
Some 50 year old rapper is something their parent liked.
It would have been far better if Rappinswamy exited the stage singing. Cum on and feel the Noise. That would have got those farmers dancing.
“Before I Forget” by Slipknot, an alternative/groove/nu metal band who are at least from Iowa (Des Moines).
It takes self-awareness to not make a fool of yourself. He seems to be lacking in that regard.
Just what one would expect to hear in Iowa – the rap star Iowa N-Ice T. What’s the problem? (s/o)
Umm…okay.
It does seem like a great way to show everyone you’re not serious about being a candidate.
He is Crush Groovin’ 4 show
Who knew this guy would self-desctruct with such vigor and flamboyant style.
Remember when Bill Clinton played the saxophone (badly)?
Someone told Ramalamadingdong Swami that this would make him look “cool.”
Reminds me of the this is your brain on drugs commercial
A little darling of the WEF mimics a thug wannabe. Yeah, that’ll sure get my vote.
lol so cringe and hilarious. I’d have to say he solidified his image as a typical out of touch, run of the mill, out for him$elf, fool the rubes, elitist republican that we have had enough of.
approximately 70 to 100,000 people attend each of the 10 days of the Iowa state fair each year.
$16 to enter the huge area, including a variety of stages, buildings with various industries looking to sell all kinds of consumer products, concession stands,
Yes,
things, people get out into the open.
hold a lamb, pig, calf, chicken…
see the biggest horse, bull, hog (hard to imagine), a honey bee hive,
eat different foods, on a stick, as you walk around to free events (music, alligator wrestling, chainsaw artists, sand sculptures, art, baking )
and some competitive or music, or track events that cost extra.
Occasionally people might find a candidate for president, school board, etc. out and about….
Ramasmarmy’s cringe rap is just the beginning. The more he talks the more I dislike him. He’s another fake MAGA Establishment Republican ala Little Marco.
There was a string of candidates, for several decades,
that tried to ride the proverbial coattails of Reagon,
but…
Eminem has been in the news here lately… he was on the epstein list… everything we are seeing is for optics.
Very strange. Just when I was starting to like him after his interview with Candace Owens the other day.
The Howard Dean moment?
Hmmmmm, that was interesting- but hey- he’s sharing a stage with Nikki Haley- what did you expect? Btw- I only say 2 camera men waving a hand to the song……
It’s actually really funny being one of the younger people on here so while Sundance says how weird this is, I fully understand why his advisors thought this would be a good idea and why he would go with it. The problem is these politicians and their crews just don’t understand the memes. This song is a meme that all young people have heard, but you don’t seem like “One of the common people” because you rap it on stage, you seem like a total phony who doesn’t get it.
The same is true of the DeSantis (I think it was) meme video, it doesn’t hit because it seems like a bunch of out of touch people saying “hey, younger people these days love memes! Let’s make a meme video!” But they don’t understand what each meme is about so it really doesn’t fit.
I think the biggest thing is the memes have to be organic. Supporters can make a meme video of rami and paste over this song, but rami can’t just do it himself.
DeSantis supporters could make a meme video of him and it wouldn’t be nearly as cringey.
The problem is they don’t have the supporters that have the meme mindset, lol. That’s why the Trump memes are so great, he is just actually funny and accomplished, so he doesn’t rely on badly made memes, all the memes supporting Trump are actually made by real supporters, not astroturfed and made by an out of touch campaign like these other losers.
I’m beginning to think that Ramaswamy is just another Deep State Front candidate.
Welcome to the club!
He wasn’t ever a viable or serious candidate.
There is nothing to read into this incident.
The thing is, he wasn’t even truly “rapping” he was lip sinking/singing along, readily apperent at the end when he stops but the voice continues….
And I am sure “rap” is by far the MOST popular genre of music, in IOWA, and amongst those attending the fair.
“Send in the Clown”,…”he’s ALREADY on stage!”
Convinced at this point, this is all a distraction, the R wing of the Uniparty are now setting their hair on fire, to DISTRACT us from the REAL “anti-Trump” candidate, aka “Bobby Jr.”.
Keeping Joe in helped make the argument for RDS, or even Vivek, supporting the “he’s too old” argument against PDJT.
And, Joe would be a “cautionary tale” argument to corral resistant MAGA voters to vote for RDS in the General, because “if you stay home, your voting for Joe!”
As its become clear the R wing can not prevent “Trump” from being the R nominee, either by gaming the primaries, rule changes, convention shenanigans or using “Indictments” as an excuse, they are implementing their “plan B” which is the D wing operation.
Joe, or Gavin running on Joes policies, can’t “beat Trump”, even with ballot fraud, given they have lost the algorythm.
So, “bobby jr.” will run an insurgency campaign, mirroring DJT’S 2016 campaign, beating Joe and Gavin to sieze the nomination over the (apperent) strong objections of DNC leadership.
We got a preview, when Jr. testified to Congress; the Dems will attack Jr. visciously, to establish his (fake) bono fides, as an anti-establshment anti-DNC truth talking SAVIOR of the Dem party and country.
10’s of millions of Dems who “walked away” from their abusive D party, will gleefully run back, like an abused spouse, giddy that their abuser has “changed his ways, and WANTS ME BACK, (be still my heart!).
And, those single issue Vax voters, blaming PDJT for the Vax, are already his.
And, so overwhelmed with strong emotions, their critical thinking thereby mute, they will forget all about 2008, when the DNC “jumped the shark” making it clear no candidate gets the nomination, unless the DNC WANTS them to.
Meanwhile, WE are all distracted by the clown show the RNC is putting on, TO distract us.
WE were hammered by influencers, FOR MONTHS who kept posting comments blaming PDJT for the vax, that was laying the groundwork.
And now we are getting hammered by influencers saying “wouldn’t it be great, if its PDJT vs RFK JR!”
It WILL be PDJT vs RFK JR., as its the only “play” the Uniparty has left.
I am just going to say this, do not upvote etc so you can’t be associated with it. If it gets deleted, so be it.
In my experience, Indians either don’t like or don’t respect Americans. So many of them consider themselves smarter, more enlightened, and so on. A caste-based view of society is strong in them.
Also, most of the men treat American women as if they were some kind of servant class.
And this incident is a clear indicator for all to see how they do not understand Americans, even though deep in their hearts they are convinced they do.
These are the reasons why I have posted here in the recent past: “Not voting for Nimarata, not voting for Ramaswamy”.
And I’m not.
Apu starts rapping to get the ignorant youth to like him.
Next up, desanta will pole dance
The Revelator: Make that, “poll dance.”
The insane leading the confused off the cliff.
Reminds me of an EE-OW scream from the past which killed a candidates chance.
Surely that guy, whose name I cannot pronoun, was never considered a serious candidate ?
“BewilderedCat” was the best belly laugh I’ve had in long while!
Thanks!!!
Roll the dice and take your chances.
In 1968 Nixon accepted an invite and did a cameo on Laugh In to show he had a sense of humor. Rowan and Martin had class so no gotcha skits/gags. Humphrey declined the invite because he thought it was undignified during a campaign.
In 1992, Clinton and Bush both accepted invites to the Arsenio Hall show. Clinton got a big popularity boost.
Unknown how it ultimately helped them since both the 1968 (Wallace) and 1992 (Perot) elections had strong 3rd party candidates.
Absolutely putrid and ridiculous. I really thought he had more sense and intelligence than that. It’s a serious crucial time in history, people are worried and lack confidence in the system. This event wasn’t a kegger at an Iowa State frat party. Let him explain why he decided doing rap crap on stage was a smart thing to do. I’d really like to hear his bs explanation. Shows he really isn’t as smart as he thinks he is, at least about politics, people and his audience. He talks a good game, like some real sharp, energetic salesman. Then he hedges on whether he would charge the Biden crime family. A little of the flim-flam man in this guy.
This is the kind of guy that should be running his campaign from his basement, like Biden did in 2020.
He’s not ready for prime time.
Vivek’s long-time “stage name” is actually (for real ) –Da Vek.
According to Politico in a recent July 26 article, Vivek had a successful rapper career while at Harvard and continues to perform.
“The Harvard Crimson, the university’s student newspaper . . .described Ramaswamy as someone who could go back and forth between two different personas: “The Chairman,” named for his role atop the Harvard Political Union, and his rapper alter-ego.Da Vek “only emerges when Ramaswamy is outfitted entirely in black, complete with a black Kangol hat,” the Crimson said.“
. . .
“Ramaswamy still hasn’t lost the itch. Post-Harvard, he has belted out Eminem at open-mic nights, bars, and parties. During a vacation to Canada, he went onstage at a karaoke bar to rap “Lose Yourself.” When the asset management firm he founded, Strive, held a holiday party last year, he performed. Davis, who now works at Roivant Services, the biotech company Ramaswamy founded, remembers the now-candidate jamming out at a firm get-together.”
. . .
“Ramaswamy said — perhaps half-jokingly — that he might bring Da Vek back as a way to appeal to younger voters.”
.
https://www.politico.com/news/2023/07/26/vivek-ramaswamy-eminem-rap-00108137
I wonder if the reason Vivek keeps singing “Lose Yourself” is because he got such a great audience response when he first sang it in college. He first performed it in 2003, one year after Eminem released the song in 2002.
Now it is a 20 yr old song, not a youthful cutting edge choice, but he still clings to it as his go-to song almost like he is trying to recreate the success he had w his college audience.
“Ramaswamy said — perhaps half-jokingly — that he might bring Da Vek back as a way to appeal to younger voters.”
Nothing more unappealing than someone pretending to be something else in an effort to try and fit in. Maybe someone could remind Ramaswamy this is a campaign for a federal government office, not a junior high popularity contest.
So he is known to have a dark alter ego and anyone thinks that’s how we want to roll with our national leaders?
I would have thought we’ve had enough of two faced sellouts to evil already.
