Everything I have outlined about Twitter is going to surface as accurate over time. There are two major elements: (1) DHS govt influence, now evidenced in the Twitter Files, and (2) the Twitter financial issues, which explain the recent hiring of Linda Yaccarino, which are soon to surface.
Yesterday, Elon Musk responded to criticism of Twitter censorship, vis-a-vis government demands, with this Tweet: “Please point out where we had an actual choice and we will reverse it.”
The Musk supporters are saying Musk has to comply with government demands if their national laws require it. However, that angle doesn’t take into consideration the choice that Musk/Twitter always have.
If the platform content is not approved by a government, and that govt then demands removal or censorship of that content, Twitter always has two options. One, to comply with the demand and block or restrict the user content (which is the direction they have taken) – or two, stop allowing the platform to operate in the country demanding the censorship. It is the latter option that everyone always avoids mentioning.
However, the issue appears to be bigger and goes to the heart of the second aspect of Twitter we have noted.
Twitter is not viable as a business model under the construct of its creation. Twitter operates on Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud and Google Cloud.
Both big tech monopoly systems are extremely expensive, and as a result Musk is stuck in contracts with AWS and Google that are major financial drains. Twitter does not operate any server infrastructure; the only asset that Twitter has on the tech engineering side is the software to operate the platform.
Absent any hardware infrastructure, Musk is vulnerable to the excessive costs of AWS & Google.
Keep in mind that all cloud-based systems are arguably U.S. government subsidized and end in server farms built and owned by the U.S. govt. Send something to a cloud-based system, or operate your tech through a cloud-based system, and you are essentially operating on govt hardware.

As you can see from this article in March 2023 [MUST READ], Musk was behind in his payments to Jeff Bezos (Amazon, AWS) but up to date on his payments to Google.
In essence, even as the article admits, Elon Musk is making payment decisions based on determinations of how best to avoid advertising revenue interruptions. Keep this in mind.
As you can see in the article, Musk is on the hook for contracts with AWS through 2025. As written, “AWS is not willing to renegotiate the five-and-a-half year contract it signed with Twitter in 2020.” That is before Musk took ownership. “That contract required Twitter to pay $510m over that period. It was signed when Twitter was expecting to move its main timeline over to AWS, but that never occurred (instead it hosts Twitter Spaces and other services), meaning that Twitter is not fully making use of the contract.” So, Jeff Bezos (AWS) has a hook into Musk for roughly $100 million a year.
Additionally, “Twitter uses Google Cloud to a greater degree, with its own five-year contract worth $1bn. While Twitter is also looking to reduce its Google Cloud costs.” That puts Musk on the hook for $200 million a year to Google, and Google controls the vast majority of advertising revenue on the web.
Each system, AWS and Google, represents a threat vector for Twitter (Musk), insofar as Twitter cannot operate without the cloud services each provider contributes to the data processing.
Absent his own data processing systems, Musk is vulnerable to the AWS/Google demands -$300,000,000/yr just for them. Again, keep this in mind.
This is all part of the financial section I have written about extensively, and it has an impact on the content.
With this information as the overlay, how much freedom does Musk actually have with the platform when he is dependent on Google and Amazon to operate? The same Google who controls the majority of his revenue (advertising) controls his data processing. See the problem?
On content, look at what AWS did to Parler as an example of what they could do to Twitter if Musk is not compliant. On revenue, consider how Google already has influence over the monetization of any platform on the internet, combined with terms and conditions for content control they can exert through their revenue power.
♦ Amazon (AWS, CIA, U.S. Govt) then becomes the primary control lever for rules and guidelines on content – the government compliance stuff. How does it surface? Musk saying he must censor Turkish political opposition parties.
♦ Google then becomes the primary control lever for Twitter revenue. How does that surface? Musk hiring Linda Yaccarino as CEO of Twitter.
Can you see it now?
Do the irreconcilables start to reconcile?
Does Elon Musk saying, “Please point out where we had an actual choice and we will reverse it,” start to make sense now?
Given that Musk is on the hook for $300 million/yr, and that’s just one expense, I suspect Musk is closer to bankruptcy with Twitter than most people think.
The operating costs are too extreme for the business model. They always were; however, I suspect the USG was indirectly subsidizing Twitter through data processing when Jack Dorsey had ownership.
The subsidy would be part of the private-public partnership, where the USG was benefitting from their ability to control public information and public opinion.
With the USG control via DHS and FBI now in sunlight (Twitter Files), the financial side has always been the second -and hidden- big picture element around Jack’s Magic Coffee Shop.
Bottom line, Musk has to make decisions through one prism, THE ECONOMICS. Musk’s decision-making, pro freedom or not, is constrained by this financial dependency. Hence, a lot of the platform censorship elements remain (including some personnel) and now the outreach to appoint Google/WEF approved Linda Yaccarino in an effort to enhance the revenue.
As the end dates of the contract terms with AWS and Google start to come closer, decisions will have to be made if Musk wants a sustainable platform. Either he builds out new hardware (extremely costly and likely cost prohibitive), or he looks for an existing platform that he might be able to merge with and operate.
If you are a platform owner of reasonable scale, and you control your own servers and data-processing, watch out for David Sacks (repping for Elon) to tap you on the shoulder. Twitter is in a bind, or Musk needs to sink buckets of money he doesn’t have into building something. The financial viability is now the primary prism, not principles of free speech.
On the content side, Elon Musk needs content providers, which explains the thirst for Tucker Carlson and even the DeSantis launch to gain some operational impact. That’s likely where his key tech advisor David Sacks again comes into play. On the type of content, that’s where Linda Yaccarino steps in as the Google/WEF bridge to approved content revenue.

I have a landline . I do still use email. I plan ahead and use actual maps if i need directions. I am a boomer and I grew up without constant texts and news alerts. There is no signed deal between Tucker and Musk.
Carlson would be a fool to make that deal.
Tucker will probably cooperate with the government.
There is another option.
The government conducts its censorship anonymously, using Twitter as a middleman.
Comply with their demand, but identify the content of the Tweet as having been censored by order of the government and name the agency and/or agent directing the censorship.
For example,
“This comment has been censored by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, by order of Deputy Director Boris Badenov.”
Then provide the person censored with a copy of any communications ordering the censorship.
I was never under the illusion that Musk was going to make any significant changes to the Twitter censorship. Maybe a few cosmetic changes around the edges but, nothing approaching making Twitter into something that resembles a free speech platform. If you want a platform that allow all legal speech try GAB. They have made lots of improvements to the platform and it’s really nice now.
I just wish I could get the traction there I can on Twitter. Like a group of likeminded people to bat ideas around with (like here but more interactive). I’ve tried and tried and the only place that works at all for me is a large homesteading group.

Elon is a liar who fooled many since day one of his existence.
The whole point of social media is to have a finger on the pulse of the people. To see in real time what they are doing, what they are saying and what they are interested in. For decades the government was reliant upon media to influence you. They had to bombard you with news stories and TV/movies to influence you bit by bit. They had to allow the enemy to attack you in order to force the nation into a fight they didn’t want. But after watching social media they learned they don’t have to influence the masses anymore. They just have to selectively target some groups and then use the media to focus on those small groups reaction to make a bigger story. BLM/Antifa/Covid/Vaccines/Trans/Pedos are all a by product of big brother using what if found inside Social Media as a weapon via selective targeting and triggering. It works both ways too, they can trigger one group to get them to act out in the open while using it to trigger another group to get them not to act at all..
Back in the old days of who, what, where, when, how and why the people were better informed. Today they are now condensed mostly to who and why.. Where the truth helped to inform people so they could make their own opinions now the truth is spun in all directions in order to present narrative, trigger a selectively targeted group or to confuse the opposition.
Twitter like all social media is pool of data. The power locked away in all of that data is massive in scale. It could be used to decide how best to navigate investment markets or how to market a new product to generate the most profit. Analyzing the data from SM and tying that data to real estate information and credit card/banking data would allow those with the data the ability to see an emerging market and either target it for profits or to destroy it before it even happens.
It’s amazing how unprofitable this company is when you consider the wealth of the data and what it’s being used for. But that’s all part of it. AWS is the Gov side interface and they have the ability to tie in the banking and granular market moves. Taking all of that data in house and away from AWS access/manipulation is key but doesn’t seem to be Musks goal. Ignoring reality is common so lets all ignore that GAB exists. Completely ignore that GAB has already built itself up completely independent from the money traps that litter the halls of Twitter. Musk could simply reach out to Torba and ask him for some pointers or at least have a chat but again.. Freedom of Speech which requires separation from both Corporate and Government is not Musks goal. To me it’s more of a rebranding effort.. like lipstick on a pig… or in this case.. lipstick on a man..

That year before my Dad passed away, he was following very closely every day the story of the Pueblo, being a Navy veteran himself (in the South Pacific, he was a Chief Petty Officer and the radio man on an ocean-going tug that pulled other ships that had taken torpedoes, hit by Kamikaze and then too, after the war had ended there was a devastating hurricane in Buckner Bay, Okinawa where many men and ships were lost).

Outside of the obvious, ie, the NSA controls all severs in the country via backdoor and some front door authorizations, can you make a specific point about how the govt controls all these decisions in the background. I’m missing something obvious but I don’t know what it is.

Was Twitter itself being subsided by the government? Because with those huge payouts to Amazon and Google plus the vast numbers of people previously employed there who did nothing useful it can’t ever have been a viable concern financially.
Twitter presents the same puzzle as electricity generation and landline telephones: all are very expensive in terms of capital investment, operating costs and incremental consumers, which pushes them into monopolies. But since these services are vital for a free and prosperous people — and the monopolies know it — government has to step in to prevent gouging and, in exchange, backstop operations with their powers of eminent domain and tax resources. When public servants are honorable, it’s not a problem.
What we see now in our republic death spiral is that public servants have not only become dishonorable but have become enemies of freedom. What they are doing to Twitter will be done with electricity in the very near future. (You can’t seriously think we will aid an abet White Supremacists by keeping their lights and heat on do you?). This is why they’re pushing electric this and electric that. You can’t hobble an entire country by sending agents to every single gas station or every single gas stove. But when you control just a single source….
Electricity is key to everything now. Not just keeping the lights and heat running. Bank and brokerage transactions use electricity. Grocery stores use electric to keep lights on, freezers going and for check out paying. Gasoline is pumped into your truck electrically. Government would shut down with no electric. Think what it was like before widespread electric and we are back to the horse and buggy, manual typewriter, clothes lines for drying in the sunshine, etc. 75% of US population would die in a month with no electric. Personally, how will I get money out of the bank?
We need to do more work on decentralizing electricity. It is possible in a way that is not with gas and oil.

A slightly more accurate take on Musk might be that he cares more about money than he does about free speech.
But then that begs the question: “If he’s such a genius and great businessman, why did he buy Twatter?”
Yes, I was going to point out that he’s also a liar, but I care so little about him and his business that I didn’t bother to look up the proof.
If you turn that around, it is possible that Musk does care about free speech. The same way President Trump intended to drain the swamp. I don’t mean to say Musk is like Trump but he doesn’t seem to me to be Dorsey or Bezos either.
