The people managing Ron DeSantis previously planned to roll out his first in-person public appearance at a campaign kickoff next Tuesday at his childhood hometown in Dunedin, Florida. The team planned to use a little league field to represent the childhood background, apple pie and Americana image.
Dunedin is a Tampa Bay suburb where DeSantis grew up and played Little League baseball. However, fearing backlash from Floria Republicans who are not happy with the deceptive 2022 gubernatorial campaign, in combination with a much larger polling of support for candidate Donald Trump, the DeSantis organizers cancelled the event.
Apparently, it would not look good for Ron DeSantis to have a hometown public launch with more protestors against his self-serving campaign than supporters. Understanding the dynamic, the people managing DeSantis cancelled it.
Floridians have the DeSantis motives pegged now, thanks to the work of a few ¹industrious crackers. His sunshine state polling is dropping like a rock, especially amid Latinos.
CNN — Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is no longer planning to hold an event in his hometown of Dunedin as part of the formal launch of his campaign, a person with knowledge of the rollout plans told CNN.
Instead, after officially announcing his campaign for President Wednesday with Elon Musk on Twitter Spaces, the site’s audio platform, DeSantis is likely to hit the road and make appearances in the coming days in early nominating states.
It’s not yet clear if he plans to travel during Memorial Day weekend or start Tuesday after the holiday. He is scheduled to attend an event Thursday in Miami, where he has gathered fundraisers to begin soliciting donations for his campaign. (read more)

And there’s problems everywhere, even in small conservative counties. I was a pollwatcher last year and caught a pollworker judge interfering in the elections! 794 votes lost in the primary election, either from her and/or the machines.

I voted for DeSantis twice. He ran on promising to faithfully serve as our Governor for Four Years during the past election. Florida still has many issues. Proof of his now shifting away from his job is the City of Jacksonville just voted out the republican mayor and DeSantis did nothing to help out in the election. Rick Scott did. DeSantis running for President is breaking his promise to voters like myself that he would serve out his full second term. I have emailed him to let him know that I do not support his run for President. I am sick of all these politicians lying and breaking their Word of Honor. DeSantis is now in this category. Very disappointing but not surprising. His cozying up with the Bushes, that fat, corrupt porker Rove and other Rhinos is revolting to say the least.

DeSantis has spearheaded a dozen anti-woke laws and agendas that I am 100% behind BUT he needs to be focused on FLORIDA. We have issues with affordable home insurance, crime and an influx of Northerners. Losing Jacksonville was due to underestimating Donna Deegan and her name recognition from her years of local community activities. It will be interesting to see how she handles the tough issues Jacksonville will face. DeSantis has surrounded himself with sleazy swamp creatures, no way he will still put FLORIDIANS first. The whole scenario makes me sick!

So true! My thoughts exactly. My brother in law passed away, leaving my sister struggling to live with-in her ‘new’ budget. Home insurance renewal came in at DOUBLE the premium from last year! Her monthly mortgage went up $600.00! Her home is ‘old Florida’ built in 1920’s surrounded now by multimillionaire homes! As a family, we sat down and crunched numbers: her mortgage balance was $13,500.00. We paid it off and basically told the bank and the insurance company to ‘stick it where the sun don’t shine’. Even if folks can get a quote for coverage, they are being made to do upgrades on roofs older than 10 years! Roofing contractors are loving it! And yes they are running the original Florida Crackers out!

I just don’t get it. Here in Florida we have some serious issues to deal with and we need DeSantis to tackle these issues instead of running a counter Trump campaign. He is so good at legislating vs the the cultural stuff here. However he needs to address:
Stagflation in wages. The thought that Florida is still an “inexpensive” state to live in, so our companies pay people poverty wages, while most of us have CA style cost of living…but at least you have no state income tax they say….ok so to avoid a 5% income tax we should have 20% less wages than comparable jobs pay elsewhere? I made double the money in CA and had to fork over 12% in state taxes…but I shouldn’t have to have a 38% pay decrease to live in freedom…
How about FL auto insurance? I moved from CA to my home state of NH. CA insurance was $900/6months for 2 cars w/full coverage…NH was $472/6 months for 2 cars with full coverage…FL = $2100/6months for half the coverage.
Cost of renting here is insane, many of my coworkers are facing 40%+ rent increases YoY. I pay $2400 for a 2 bedroom apartment in Pinellas County that 2 years ago went for $1600.
My homeowner insurance in NH has been stable for years, I rent here in FL but everyone complains to me about how home owners insurance doubles year over year. Hmmmm…..anything have to do with it be state required while living in a constant disaster threat zone?
I really like living here in Florida, I wish I made more money and cost of living is less but we make do. We have issues but it’s a great place to be. I wish the Governor was focused on our issues and not trying to Grand Stand. I moved here because it was a free state. I’m Unva666ed, untested and I refuse to work in an environment that doesn’t respect my autonomy and freedom from coercion. That’s really important to me. DeSantis needs to do right by those of us that voted for him twice. If he wants to run a failed campaign vs pre-programmed voting machines that’s his prerogative. However we require serious leadership in Florida to address our serious issues.
