The people managing Ron DeSantis previously planned to roll out his first in-person public appearance at a campaign kickoff next Tuesday at his childhood hometown in Dunedin, Florida. The team planned to use a little league field to represent the childhood background, apple pie and Americana image.
Dunedin is a Tampa Bay suburb where DeSantis grew up and played Little League baseball. However, fearing backlash from Floria Republicans who are not happy with the deceptive 2022 gubernatorial campaign, in combination with a much larger polling of support for candidate Donald Trump, the DeSantis organizers cancelled the event.
Apparently, it would not look good for Ron DeSantis to have a hometown public launch with more protestors against his self-serving campaign than supporters. Understanding the dynamic, the people managing DeSantis cancelled it.
Floridians have the DeSantis motives pegged now, thanks to the work of a few ¹industrious crackers. His sunshine state polling is dropping like a rock, especially amid Latinos.
CNN — Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is no longer planning to hold an event in his hometown of Dunedin as part of the formal launch of his campaign, a person with knowledge of the rollout plans told CNN.
Instead, after officially announcing his campaign for President Wednesday with Elon Musk on Twitter Spaces, the site’s audio platform, DeSantis is likely to hit the road and make appearances in the coming days in early nominating states.
It’s not yet clear if he plans to travel during Memorial Day weekend or start Tuesday after the holiday. He is scheduled to attend an event Thursday in Miami, where he has gathered fundraisers to begin soliciting donations for his campaign. (read more)

I can’t figure this guy out. If I was him, my line of thinking would be: I really want to be president but going against Trump is practically impossible. He’s too popular; plus I don’t have money so I would have to rely on billionaire donors. They will not let me pivot to Trump’s right and I’ll end up going the way of Scott Walker. My best chance is to do what I’m doing in Florida and at the same time praise Trump. Sure, people might see through this but at least I won’t make enemies. I will then be positioned to be the favorite for the VP slot. Then all I have to do is wait — he can only serve one term — and then be the presumptive front runner in 2028, which will give me the best chance of winning. But no, I’ll do it the stupid way instead.

What is happening to MLB fans in Tampa? The Tampa Bay Rays are still the best team in the major leagues but they couldn’t draw enough fans in their St. Petersburg Tropicana Field or Bubble to even exceed the NHL playoff Florida Panthers hockey rink crowds in Sunrise Florida. Yesterday’s Ray’s game allegedly had 11,000 fans. The max. is appx. 25,000 fans. The Panthers were the team considered the least likely to win the Stanley Cup but they are now one win away from being in the Cup Final.
These 2 teams are the brightest lights in their respective leagues. I wonder why DeSantis or President Trump don’t mention the success of these 2 teams especially the incredible Panthers. (as far as I know.)

I played organized sports as a kid and then coached amateur youth baseball and football for a few years so I always enjoy watching the skill levels of the pro players. But I don’t watch addictively.
The grit and relentless work ethic of the Florida Panthers seems to be the boost (in addition to their hockey skills) that led them to the Cup Final. They made the playoffs by the slimmest of margins.

The Ray for the most of their history have had poor attendance. The stadium was built on the cheap and is a dump. There is alot to do in the Tampa area so its hard to draw fans without a quality stadium. I wouldnt be suprised if the team moves in the near future.
Heck, even if they just moved across the Bay it’d be better. Tampa is about an hour drive for me to attend events but downtown St Pete runs 90 mins at best….usually closer to 2 hrs.

As a lifelong Oakland A’s fan, I am used to 4,000 fans in the stands (some of whom even paid full price). However … we did always sell out in the 1970’s World Series years, and through “Billy Ball” success. I arrived LATE to the game when the A’s broke the record for consecutive wins … because I couldn’t park anywhere NEAR the stadium as it was SOLD OUT and then some. Now we are back to 4,000 fans on a good day … but the team is dreadful.
And even when the A’s competed with the Oakland Seals in the 1970’s who played NHL Hockey next door … there were 4,000 fans watching the Seals and 30,000 at the A’s games. Thought to be fair … Charlie Finley treated MLB like the Minor Leagues with gimmicks and give-always … like an A’s Rabbit that popped up from underground to supply the umpire with new balls.

The main reason it made no sense to me that he would actually enter the race was that I considered him an intelligent guy. After all, he must have KNOWN that going up against Trump would not only be a losing proposition now, but would also guarantee he would NEVER be president, even in ’28 or beyond. Without the backing of the vast majority of Trump supporters, DeSantis has ZERO chance. So I had deluded myself into believing he wasn’t gonna actually run in ’24… because “He’s too smart to commit political suicide.”
So yeah, I want to apologize to you, Sundance. After all these years, this was probably the only important issue I’ve ever somewhat disagreed with you about. Everything you were saying about the guy was obviously correct, but still… no way is DeSantis actually dumb enough to take that fateful step. Is it possibly due to big anti-Trump news that the campaign caught wind of, like a new Trump Special Prosecutor indictment? A big RDS campaign event in Florida would certainly be some awkward optics and present some really tense questions, wouldn’t it?
Set aside the vote fraud issue for a moment, but is it even realistically possible in today’s state by state breakout to win the WH without winning FL? If DeSantis is the 2024 nominee, me thinks he losses FL by a wide margin. He’s pissed in a ton of FL coffee cups……

Hopefully the Ron sycophants will extract their heads and realize the BS and deception that their boy has been peddling. He is not conservative or MAGA but just another uni-party/globalist inserted as a stealth spoiler designed to pop out of the woodwork on command when needed. Sure seems as if Ron’s so called anticipated coronation as the featured GOP POTUS candidate got flushed down the bowl with all the other place holders, because we, MAGA, aren’t buying him/them. Best advice for Ron is to use his donor money to fly first class back to FL and do the job he was elected to do. If he waits too long, he may be heading back home in a Greyhound bus.
