Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

Today is the 150th anniversary of the birth of Sergei Rachmaninov
Here is his Piano Concerto #3. Difficult and powerful and magnificent.
Not bad … but my all-time favorite is his Symphony No. 1, as done by the Philadelphia Orchestra under Eugene Ormandy. I’ve heard other renditions but, in my opinion, Ormandy’s interpretation is the very best.
Betsy and Leon, thanks. Here’s something from Rachmaninoff in a different genre and mood.
1530, tomorrow on the Sirius XM Symphony channel early in the morning they will be playing Rachmaninov choral works.
I am in high hopes his Vespers will be amongst them. So good for the soul.
Thank you, thank you for posting this taste of possibly his most moving composition
I have just finished listening to this symphony, Leon, on my Sirius XM Classical channel. They are dedicating the day to his works. A whole day!! I am in heaven!
You know the story of this symphony. A complete failure in its first performance , conducted by Glazunov, who it was reported was drunk, no rehearsals. Of course as time as gone on, there is more admiration for it.
I enjoyed the performance I just listened to. But I agree completely with you. There was no one like Ormandy, no matter what he conducted. My first classical LP was “Messiah” with him conducting, and the Philadelphia orchestra and chorus. I am a huge admirer.
Just for you, Leon! Ormandy at his best. Symphony #2…let it wash over you…💕
Good afternoon Leon
Thank you for the nice cat pictures you post everyday.
I am happy to be a part of this tree that you have obviously been a big part of for a long time.
I often think that you must be a very busy man.
Nice to hear you , today.
☘️
Incidentally, Leon.
At 5 pm on Sirius XM Symphony channel every Saturday, there is a program played entirely by the Philadelphia Orchestra, their favourite concerts. No Eugene Ormandy of course, I am sorry to say…just a friendly FYI😊
I love Eugene Ormandy and his Strauss waltzes. (Aggiegirl does have a wee bit of class….).
I tried his symphony #1…sounds intense…and long….
Yes, she does!😊
aggie . I haven’t dipped into much of the long videos. I think it might be a good idea to start. just put one on and let it fly. I’ve just recently got into this kind of music. I’m really liking it. I’m just sayin because I get good good ideas from you treep peeps that have been there and know what’s good.
shall give these waltzes a try.thanks
Truly lovely. Just what I needed today. Thank you for posting.
I am always amazed and humbled by the talent of the people who can compose such a glorious composition. The proficiency, memory, and passion of the pianist in this is wonderful.
You are so welcome, Belle. I’ll stop and listen to anything he composed. Here is his second piano concerto, equally magnificent.
I am particularly pleased to be able to post this performance with Lang Lang as the pianist. What a talent, which, like you, I am in tremendous awe and admiration of.

There are so man great pianists out there. We are so fortunate to be able to sample them. Ms. Wang is absolutely amazing.
I’ve always enjoyed Krystian Zimerman. This is a recent recording, with mature soloist and conductor. It is as fun to watch Zimerman enjoying himiself as is to to listen to him — Beethoven Piano Concerto 2, cued to the rondo.
Agree!! And Sir Simon Rattle conducting, 1530. I adore Zimerman’s artistry. What a touch he has. Winning the Chopin International competition started his career. And for that his touch had to be perfection. Simply wonderful!!!
yes …many talented people out there.
Your taste is impeccable, Betsy.
I just put together a Happy Birthday Sergei email, and sent it to my appreciative friends.
Have you seen the movie “Shine”?
Afternoon, aDoozy. I remember it but have not seen it. I shall definitely look for it. Thank you!😊
And good for you!! His sesquicentennial. Your friends will love you for that.

Now that is extremely interesting. Loved the Twain quote above the photos. Profound.
(Pathetic I couldn’t type that out without an edit😂)
Magnifique! (Sergei would say… Великолепный )
— Composer, Symphony Musicians, Pianist, ….and choice for posting.
A wide range of emotion exudes from within this concerto…..
Happy April 1st, Betsy!
I’m so glad you listened, dear friend. There is a choice for posting. So much. What to choose…emotions run wild for me as well with his music, the last, I’ll say, of the great romantic composers.
And Russian! How impressed am I? Exceedingly💕
Happy April 1 to you, too, GB. The year is cracking on…
“The year is cracking on…”
And way too quickly…..
A most peasant evening to you, good lady..
Thank you, kind sir. Please…you do the same.😊
Oops. That should have read “pleasant evening” not “peasant evening”…
Although there can be many similarities between them… 😉
Hahahahahaha!!! Peasants of a feather, flock together…
…or is that pheasants…
It gets confusing😊
🤣🤣
amen
treeps .. peep peeep
OK, there are just no words! Thank you, Betsy! I never would have heard nor seen this, and now I can die!!! ; )
You are so welcome, heather. It’s always a pleasure to post such music.
I can’t listen to the modern day “classical” (so-called) noise that is supposed to be supplanting the great soul rejuvenating works of the past. I am so so glad you loved it. That makes me happy😘
As for dying? Not just yet, please🙏🏻
not yet bet
betcha
Nope…still kicking💕
Bett, i don’t know what modern day “classical”is . not sure if i am listening or posting any .. will have to look into that .. I’m tryin to loose my old habbits . listened to and played a lot of different music in my day . always changing , but the songs are still there .
i still like lots of kinds of music
almost 400 comments today Bett
sats be fun
I guess I’d call what is being produced today as modern classical.
Tuneless, or cacaphonic, messy, dreary, soulless. My opinion only.
As an example I’ll give you two names…Max Richter and Philip Glass, both esteemed, fawned over, celebrated.
I won’t post anything composed by them, but if you want to know what their works sound like, by all means check them out on YouTube.
Knowing you, my friend, I feel certain if you do, you’ll understand why I say what I say.
Again, music is so so personal. Tastes differ…mine is passionately classical.
That TIME is HERE!
We must give thanks to God that He is trusting us to live in these times and witness His glory.
Good afternoon, Quoheleth. I believe it is. How could we not see it. Why can we see it and others…so many millions of others…not?
I see your name in passing and hope very much your life is finding its new direction.Blessings always to you, good sir.
Very beautiful picture and St Paul at his best!
Thank you.
I count on your prayers.
And you certainly have them, my friend. God be with you. I salute you and your unshakeable integrity🙏🏻

I must share this article by the inestimable Dr Theodore Dalrymple, aka Dr Anthony Daniels.
If I am fortunate enough to see anything he has written, I will bookmark and read, so thoughtful are his essays based on a lifetime of observing the human condition.
This one is particularly in these times, more than thoughtful. It is contemplative, not too long, and well worth the time.
God bless you, Dr Dalrymple. One of the outstanding humanitarians of our time.
Oh…and count your blessings.🙏🏻

Excellent. The author learned an infinitely valuable lesson and is passing it forward to any and all who recognize its immensely deep implications.
He is an incredible human being, GB.
He served as a psychiatrist with Her Majesty’s Prison Service. The only psychiatrist I have any time for. A sensible man.
He’s retired now and lives in France, and I believe is in ill health. You can search and find many of his essays. He has seen and written about the worst of British society. Those, too, are incisive and well worth reading.
As well as his articles in Taki Magazine, I know he posts with Commentary.
I was very moved by the one I left. It is the same high standard of all his outpourings. You would not be disappointed in any of them.
thank you Betsy. I will check it out.
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Still no power.
Dang, Rob…I know what that’s like, and I am so sorry.
Evening Bet! Being without power really sucks, as we both know. We have had a couple of busy days with Nipper. His mom asked me to pick him up again from school last night. Then his daddy wanted to see him and get Nipper to meet daddy’s girlfriend. I wouldn’t allow it without an ok from Nipper’s mom. It was a pure God thing. She agreed, daddy and gf picked him up and had him for a couple-three hours. Nipper took to it like a duck to water. All the missing pieces of the puzzle came together for him and he is one happy kid. He already wants to start spending some nights at their place.
What can I say, my brother. All these tangled threads, and God knows exactly what he’s doing with them. This is such joyous news given the circumstances. The most important person in all this is Nipper. And for him to put the puzzle together is just wonderful.
Kids make up their own stories you know. No telling what he was thinking with this split, maybe even blaming himself? They do that you know. I’m only basing this on other children in the same situations I’ve seen.
I am so happy for him, and for you, and for his dad, for whom I pray this development will be a start to get everything together.
Thank you for the update, dear friend. A good way to end the day.😘🙏🏻
Sorry, rah. Like Bet, bee there. do you have a generator? Can’t remember.
back up phone batteries are a good thing to have

Coca-Cola produces as much as $2BN of pure COCAINE every year in a secretive New Jersey factory – all thanks to its iconic recipe and a VERY special arrangement with the DEA
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11911203/The-secretive-NJ-plant-Coke-produces-2BN-cocaine.html
I wonder whether minute amounts are present in Coca Cola ,which makes people crave drinking lots of Coca Cola?
Or even a precursor of Cocaine which is processed in your body into the active form?
And they blame the good feeling after drinking a Coke on caffeine?
Im not convinced.
Amen.
Amen!
Amen.

Prayers and condolences to those killed and injured in today’s round of tornadoes across the Midwest. Arkansas appears to be hard-hit.. Current death toll stands at 21, likely to go higher. Here’s a short video from a Los Angeles TV station…
And more to come, Dunes.
Yes, prayers…lots of them. May our merciful God be with each one whose life has been turned inside out. And may He please receive the souls of those lost, and their families at the worst time of their lives.🙏🏻
