IMO, the only “threats” are exclusion from the club if they don’t follow orders. It simply makes no logical sense to jump to the conclusion of “serious threats” are being made. Men are corrupt or imperfect and we are in a total societal breakdown.

There are very few self funding, successful businessmen/patriots like DJT who seek public office. He didn’t need their money to win or seek re-election. BUT, he was defeated by their power. Money and power and it’s not exclusive to DC.

When doctors joined together, refused to see and treat the ill and dying, I saw the extent of our disease. They were told to play ball or lose their licenses. No need for investigations. Simple answer. No election is going to cure us and no one man can save us.

It doesn’t start in DC. These elected officials are groomed and shepherded along beginning at the university and state government level.

Look at their career paths. In general terms, they attend the same universities, clerk for the same judges, then move into government. They have effectively been hanging out and going to the same parties since their mid 20’s. They know who the team players are and help each other out.

The few that don’t come up through the system are quickly corrupted (Tim Scott) or marginalized (Dennis Kucinich).

I have always felt that most are controlled by blackmail and most notably pedophelia. When they arrive in DC they get invited to parties and may end up drugged or not and then have pictures taken of them in compromising positions.

You can always tell who is free to talk about anything and those that have to check their words or hold fake hearings and send strongly worded letters.

It is like they are given a playbook of what is ok to do as an opponent and what is off limits.

Just because it hasn’t had your terminology applied doesn’t mean that it hadn’t been discussed.

It is very easy to sideline anyone who won’t ‘play the game’. The system that coopts the newbies has been functioning for quite a long time.

Have you heard about the House and Senate Campaign Committees? Do you know how they are funded? By the members. But here is the catch, they buy their seats on real committees. The more powerful, the more the donation needed to secure that committee seat.

And they are prohibited from using campaign funds, but they can use donations. So as they are welcomed into D.C., they get introduced to all the lobbyists who are eager for influence in those committees. The game is stacked against ‘We the People’, i.e. voters.

And real power is only given after lengthy periods of ‘playing the game’ and establishing loyalty to those in the group.

Have you also noticed that the power positions are decided before the newbies are sworn in. (Usually, but the votes come later)

Are you going to play the Washington Social scene where power is made, but liberals dominate?

Are you going to bring your family to such a place where your every move can be used to isolate or harm them?

It is a system built upon power and influence. Of course the newbies will be swept into it.

On the other hand, we really need to be more knowledgeable about the people we put our faith into. It has been a very long custom to play voters as dupes. Quite a few of those who seemed so ideal, but were swept up in the D.C. corruption, were never ideal to begin with.

Take Senator Corker from TN. You know, the Senator who authored the bill that turned approving the Iran deal on its head. Luckily his actions guaranteed he couldn’t win again, so he didn’t run. I have never been so embarrassed, except for that bit about supporting President Bush, another two-faced politician, who proved himself more willing to defeat Conservatives than he did Democrats, while pretending to be Conservative so that he could win.

Yup, we definitely need to be more careful. Whoever is running to go to D.C. is already part of your local power establishment and is highly likely to already know how D.C. works as they hope to be part of the D.C. power establishment so they can bridge the two and make it rain in your local establishment with D.C. spending. If you don’t start with that assumption, you have already done most of their work in pulling the wool over your eyes.

I vaguely remember Rush having a shtick describing the ‘welcome’ process of new members of Congress. It has been happening, and commented on, long before that.

This is just my own opinion on how government works.

There was a passage in a book I once read “The people are free to vote for who ever we let run for office”. It’s why the DNC and RNC exist.

Part of the reason for the compliance of politicians to the system, is that there is a system within government that’s been refined for generations by the most ruthless politicians that love power. It is compartmentalized and this compartmentalization keeps new members away from access to the real workings of government. To move from one compartment to another, one must show a certain adherence to kissing the ring.

We can have ethical politicians, even outsiders but they are compartmentalized and kept away from the knowledge that would give them the power to hurt the system. Even President Trump was compartmentalized while he was president.

Experienced politicians such as McConnell and Pelosi use this system very effectively.

FBI Whistleblower Sibel Edmonds has talked about there being a blackmail file on lots of politicians and even judges–so that’s how they are kept in line behind the scenes.

I have been disillusioned by so many promising people, but once contaminated by the swamp, it’s difficult to know if they’ve abandoned their moral position, are being blackmailed, or so caught up in the fund raising aspect of being a representative, they no longer have the time to focus on our concerns.

Also, I wonder about their staff. Do they hire their own staff, or do they have to research and read every line of everything themselves, which takes up so much of their time they can only focus on one thing at a time? Do they have a budget for staff? How do they find like minded people to help them?

We’ve already learned that they are assigned to committee’s based on their ability to raise funds, and their political alignment with the leadership. That is a broken system.

What gives? How do the inner workings of the swamp swallow up our good people?

This apology seems pretty sincere and specific, which is what I look for. An apology that says “I’m sorry, I did X and it was wrong” is legit, and an apology that says essentially “I’m sorry you got upset” isn’t. So this meets my sincerity test.

Trump’s a big picture guy. He talks and thinks in ideas and principles. He relies on having people competent in their specialties to work on the details. This is what bit him on a lot of the things people complain about on here. It’s both a strength and a weakness, and hopefully he has a better vetting process now.

Those chemicals did not need to be incinerated at all: just flood the tank cars with water if they appear to be hot, and pump out the cargo into trucks. And, if for some legitimate reason a volatile chemical is to be incinerated, this is not how you do it. There is special equipment for that.

There is no bank that has liquid assets to meet the demands of all depositors withdrawing their funds. Banks lend or invest your deposits leaving capital to meet normal liquidity demands. The Silicon Valley bank had hot or unstable deposits from start-up companies burning through cash and had invested a lot of their funds in long term treasuries that lost value as interest rates went up. The other bank, can’t remember the name, invested funds in crypto currencies. Most smaller banks have more stable deposits and also follow banking rule 101, don’t invest the majority of deposits which are short term money in long term or speculative assets that can’t be liquidated at a value close to the initial investment. The Silicon Valley bank was gross incompetent management. Although their Treasury investments if held to maturity were sufficient to cover deposits, deposit money isn’t going to wait 10 years for a Treasury bond to mature. A total ‘run’ on deposits would collapse any bank.

The problem was that during Covid with close-to-zero interest rates, the banks were encouraged to buy long-term treasuries. That was 2020 and President Trump had kept inflation close to zero, so the banks were not worried about inflation or an increase in interest rates.

Something that almost nobody mentions, China has been selling our debt (in Treasuries), almost $200 billion in the last couple of years. Other countries are also selling. (They are not particularly a good investment with the high interest.) So, that tends to drive down the value.

The Fed knew it was supply side inflation. They knew what raising interest rates would do to housing costs, new construction, and credit card debt. They knew what it would do to Treasury bonds. They knew it would only increase the amount this government would have to pay as interest on US debt. They knew how much in long term Treasuries banks owned.

In other words, this is all contrived. EVERY BIT IS PURPOSEFULLY DONE.
