According to Axios, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has given Fox News (Paul Ryan) and Tucker Carlson access to the 41,000 hours of CCTV footage.
Presumably Speaker McCarthy figures this approach will support his previous promise to release and “make public” the full unedited House footage. I’m not sure I would qualify this as fulfilling the pledge. Why is an intermediary needed? Why not just release the footage and let people review it raw and unfiltered?

I agree the government belongs to the people on paper (Constitution) but possession is 9/10ths of the law. Attorneys defending those charged have been filing discovery motions without success. Media outlets have filed countless FOIA requests with scant results. I am happy for any yards gained at this point. I’m going for the First Down, not throwing Hail Mary passes hoping for a Touchdown.

I’m hoping the decision to give it to Tucker was intended to bypass the MSM and get more “eyes on.” If they just released it all to the public, most of the media (including FOX) would either ignore it or try to cherry pick and put a spin on it. (Think what happened with the Twitter files!) And the sheeple who don’t do alternate media would never even hear about it. It’s going to be hard for the media to ignore this info when Tucker is dripping it out every night.

And then you have to organize, match, and correlate all the video. Do you want to have it all organized by the hour so you can view different cameras and angles or do you want to follow one camera view from beginning to end? Or by general location (the mall, inside or outside locations of Capitol building or?). Or by following any video of a particular person and their actions from start to finish from different angles and cameras? Wonder how much video there is of all the actions of congress members–were there cameras tracking their retreat from offices and chambers?
To do it right will take a lot of man hours and organization to capture the ‘whole picture’ of 41,000 hours of video from the 5th and 6th of January.

Unfortunately, you can’t place blind faith in any MSM figure. No matter what their reputation is. They all answer to higher authorities for their livelihoods and social/professional status.
Trust but verify is appropriate, but the verification process is the real issue.
In this case, I doubt Tucker personally will process most of this massive influx of information. He will have assistants and Fox employees who probably skim the material. And whatever they find of particular interest will then be filtered further.
In the end, who knows what Tucker personally focusses on. And what he’s allowed to discuss.
Perhaps Tucker is harder to discredit? He’s not “alt-media” or “fringe” – terms the legacy media (i.e. intel community) uses to paint stories as not believable. Yes, they will try to discredit Tucker but most likely it will be on the substance, not on the channel.
I discredit Tricker. If he had any integrity he would get off Fox News. His ego is preventing that.
I know this will take a day or two to post but let me put it out there anyway. My guess as to why McCarthy is releasing it through Carlson is because releasing to everybody in the world at the same time will lead to the usual madhouse rush to publish first and so establish the first narrative. By allowing Carson first dibs, his team has the opportunity to review all of the tapes and establish the facts in a timeline and release findings in chronological order and in episodic format so we can all digest a comprehensive and factual analysis. Afterwards, open it up so everyone has access and make their points.
I would feel better if McCarthy had released these tapes to two sources simultaneously and either have both issue reports or at least hold the tapes to ascertain whether the report was complete and accurate.

McCarthy should have released the video to Carlson AND to the public. January 6 was just another 24 hour day with perhaps as much as 10 hours daylight. These 41,000 hours of closed circuit from around the capital will need editing. Carlson’s crew can do it and we the public could help them.

I think you aren’t aware of the math, Abigail. 41k hours = thousands of terabytes of data on hundreds of hot-swap, high-capacity hard drives. Approximately a two-car garage’s worth of space just for the raw material. No private studio anywhere can realistically handle that amount of footage. It will have to be organized and logged at a major editing facility, like the one in the News Corp building in NYC.
