At this point it’s a little humorous to read the DC inside Republican narrative as they produce their DeSantis messaging. The Hill has an article {SEE HERE} titled “GOP Impatience Grows for DeSantis to Make Move on Trump.”
However, political followers will notice the tell behind the story in the first few sentences:
(WASHINGTON DC) – Senate Republicans nervous about former President Trump’s lead in presidential primary polls are impatiently awaiting Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis to jump into the race.
GOP lawmakers don’t expect DeSantis to make his move until after the Florida legislative session ends in early May, but the waiting game is playing on nerves, with some thinking DeSantis has lost political momentum since his big reelection win in November. (link)
Setting aside the reality that Ron DeSantis cannot run for office without first legally abdicating his role as governor, as required by Florida law, the “Senate Republicans” are “nervous.” Gee, I wonder who those Senate Republicans might be.
Later in the DC script as written, “I suspect he is going to run. I’ve been told that he’s very focused right now — the Florida legislature is in session — he’s very focused on Florida issues,” Sen. Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo.) said of DeSantis, whom she called “the leader of the Republican Party” after he won an impressive reelection victory in November.”
Ah yes, so very focused on “Florida issues” that Governor Ron DeSantis is in New York, Pennsylvania and Illinois on his not-campaigning, campaigning tour.

I have lived in NC for 15 years Resident. I just received my official absentee Ballot request form from Broward County Florida for an upcoming municipal elections . It does say I need an ID which can be any type including a credit card or any other type of id document. In 2022 we received 3 official absentee ballot forms. I can see that Election ballot harvesting in Broward County has NOT had any reform since I lived there.

Something I read last week, and I didn’t focus on much in it, is that the Florida Statues read “a position that an official must QUALIFY for”. Now, that’s a paraphrase, but apparently some (probably RDS supporters) think that RDS can work his way out of the problem without changing anything legislatively by dealing with the QUALIFY word.
Title IX, Chapter 99, Section 99.012 of the Florida Statutes states:
(3)(a) No officer may qualify as a candidate for another state, district, county, or municipal public office if the terms or any part thereof run concurrently with each other without resigning from the office he or she presently holds. (b)The resignation is irrevocable. … (8) Subsections (3) and (4) do not apply to persons holding any federal office. Subsection (4) does not apply to an elected officer if the term of the office that he or she presently holds is scheduled to expire and be filled by election in the same primary and general election period as the federal office he or she is seeking.
*Note: In 2018, the Florida legislature expanded an exception to this rule. Prior to 2018, candidates for President and Vice President were exempt from resign-to-run laws. That exception was expanded to include all federal officials.[5] The text above reflects these changes.

What do people think the probability is that DeSantis will declare his candidacy for the GOP nomination, and if he does declare, defeat Trump for the Republican nomination?
My take is he won’t enter the race in 2024, finish his term as governor, and in 2026 he may take an altogether different path.
I dont think that desantis can risk coming out right now and saying that he is running, He would have to give up his job of being the gov and the people will vote in the middle of the summer and allow him to keep his job, and as far as I am concerned he has taken too much money from all the big wigs not to run for President no matter weather he has to give up his plush job or not. These people do not play games and He will do what they tell him to do.

DeSantis cant do one job, let along do his job as Gov and campaign for President.
