Let me qualify this post and question by saying this is something I have wanted to ask and write about for quite a while. I often ask this question to people I meet in general life discussion, and I am very interested to hear every response. Today is a great day to ask this…
Think back… So, you are living your life, doing what you and everyone familiar to you are doing in the ordinary and regular way of living your specific life.
Perhaps you paid some attention to the political comings and goings of things, perhaps not.
Perhaps like most comfortably invisible people you were just putting one foot in front of the other, and generally doing the day-to-day things that most would consider ordinary.
Then one day, for some unknown and likely not that consequential reason, something caught your attention. Something piqued your curiosity; perhaps you noticed something you wouldn’t ordinarily have noticed. Perhaps you heard something, or saw something, or were just in a situational space where something itched your brain as you looked at something, heard something or noticed something that just didn’t quite fit or sit right.
Perhaps that little something, or big something, caused you to look just a little bit closer at the story, event or moment with a little more curiosity than before. Perhaps you dug into that specific moment with a little more than a side-eye glance, and you noticed something. After looking at it a little closer, you realized that construct was not at all what it appeared to be on the surface.
From that moment forward, for the first time, you really started to question the ‘thing’ that was in front of you, and from that moment forward, you woke up to recognize that things around you, things you perhaps didn’t pay attention to before, were not what you thought they were. It was from this moment when you really started to pay attention and your political awakening began.
Question: When was that moment for you?
I am always amazed at the replies I get in real life to this question of when the individual awakening began.
For some it was at an early age, for others much later in life. For some it was recently, and for others it was a long time ago. However, for everyone there was that moment when it started, and it is completely unique to the individual.
So, on this day, Sunday February 19, 2023, a generally innocuous day in the grand scheme of things, I pose this question to everyone.
Yes, even all the CTH lurkers who read here and never join the conversation. The comment section is open for all replies with the general rules of on-line decorum still standing. Us old schoolers still use the early internet standards of on-line discussion, and CTH requests polite and civil conversation that enlightens, expands thinking and uplifts the audience.
I am genuinely curious and will be reading every reply because it’s really cool to see what that “moment” was for each person. I’m pretty sure the entire CTH community will also enjoy reading the unique replies to the question.
We all travel a different path. We all come from different, likely comfortably invisible, life experiences. And we all merge into this big melting pot of curious people who are looking deeply at the issues we face. Regardless of how each of us arrived here, the larger dynamic is that we likely share a common curiosity for the reality of our situation. It’s a safe bet to say that almost everyone reading this is in the top-tier of “high information” consumers.
My question is not what arrived you at The Conservative Treehouse, but rather what the moment was when you began looking around and realizing that things just didn’t seem to add up. That’s the origin of the journey. That’s the moment I am inquiring about.
Perhaps it’s a weird way of looking at CTH, but our fellowship is always what has been the most important aspect to this little corner of the internet. It’s not the content of the Treehouse, but the conversation on the porch that matters. You, the readers, friends, people who assemble here, are the important element. Not me and not the site admins.
That’s genuinely the way I have always looked at our fellowship, and that’s also the reason for every detail I put into keeping this little corner of the internet standing.
So, with that in mind, what was that moment in your life when you realized the social, political and/or media narrative, was not at all what it was presented to be?
Love to all,
~ Sundance

I was a long term Rush Limbaugh listener, so my distrust for Leftists, Democrats, RINOs etc has always been simmering in the background. I would look at events and outrageous acts committed by corrupt INDIVIDUALS and be so appalled and frustrated that nothing was ever done about most if not all of them over the years. I just never connected each INDIVIDUAL outrageous act or policy to some greater, evil conspiracy running in the background.
Reading Conservative Treehouse, following links to other websites and articles over the months and years all contributed to my awakening and awareness that NOTHING was as it seemed, and everything I thought I knew about historical events was pretty much all a lie.
From the beginning, i was highly suspicious of the fake Plandemic, especially after reading an article discussing the PCR test and its inventor, Cary Mullis. I shared the article on Fakebook and Twitter, and the “fact checkers” labeled my posts false. It just blew me away! These were posts from the NOBEL PRIZE WINNING INVENTOR
yet these arrogant, annonymous people labeled it false information! The massive censorship leading up to 2020 election was another real eye opener for me. After my utter shock and dismay over the stolen election, then witnessing the complete corruption of our government at every level, the scales have continued to fall away from my eyes.
I watched the film Out of Shadows and the Fall Cabal series on ALTERNATE video streaming platforms (the necessity of which was also a real eye opener), and things began to come into focus for me that my entire belief system regarding American history and political events had been a gigantic lie for most of my life. Other videos such as “Everything is a Rich Man’s Trick”, “Vaxxed”, “Behold a Pale Horse” (there are many more), have further dissolved my illusions about American politicians having any sense of duty to our Constitution, or common decency.
So here I am today, praying and hoping still, that President Trump and the “very good generals” have not abandoned us to a Communist coup, and betrayed their oaths to protect and defend the Constitution against ALL enemies, foreign and domestic.
Time will tell. I know that God is in control.
I can only echo your story. Though that series of events was only eye opening in it’s contempt, blatentness and total unbridled disregard for rights, law and decency. And the ability of those in power to get away with it.
I quit using social media during the runup to the 2020 election because I realized no matter how I used it, it would be used as a tool against me and society.
I realized with clarity that there were lawless and unaccountable elites and media and there were the rest of us-Americans.
But I’ve been a life long skeptic and Rush Baby and always knew it was there, but definitely more clarity through the covid/elections series of events.
For a friend, I would hold my nose and listen to Rush. And you know the rest: A reasonable person will eventually agree with much of Limbaugh’s logic.
On the Wayback machine here: 1967 riots in Detroit, I was nearly 11 yo, contrast that event vs the 1968 Detroit Tigers World Series Championship…forced out of the rustbelt in 74, didn’t know why until many years later. I met coyotes down in Albuquerque in 75, and found that was their job. POTUS candidate Regan said he was going to do something about illegal immigration but reversed course after winning…the war on drugs… Kennedy brothers assassinations…so many immigrants in the Denver community college in 1984 was stunning…the lack of employment opportunities even with an engineering degree…busy bodies in local politics…the wars..the 2016 POTUS election, then confirmation of all of my crazy little thoughts once I found CTH. I’m mostly a lurker here…but I can guarantee you that you’d want me in your fox hole. When the going gets tough the tough get going, right on drill Sargent, right on…
First glimmer was probably Rush accurately depicting climate politics way back when. Next was Levine accurately reporting on Trump being spied upon. But full awakening came with the exposure of full-scale political surveillance exposed by the Flynn takedown and the Wolfe/Warner FISA leak.
After reading many many comments here, one wonders if people are not awoken today, will they ever?
If the “ election 2020”…….
If the pandemic and the shots………
if Palestine ‘s Chernobyl……
If…….
Thank you Sundance for your question. Most necessary today.
When we were told the Russia helped sneak the chemical weapons out of Iraq.
I’m embarrassed to say it wasn’t until the fake pandemic that my eyes were REALLY opened. I guess I had always had a bit of suspicion. I loathe Obama viscerally but didn’t realize it was all part of a long term plan. But during the first few weeks of the pandemic I told my elderly mother, who believes everything put out by MSM that something wasn’t right. I told her I thought it was somehow being orchestrated; I had not heard of the WEF at that time. She completely mocked me but it turned out I was right. She still thinks I’m crazy…
Right on, Gabriela – ‘something wasn’t right’.
The MA Governor, Charlie Baker, shut down the state on 3-16-20 for ‘two weeks to flatten the curve’. This turned into a 2-year pre-determined disaster. Invoke chaos, get to illegal election fixes, get rid of PDJT.
If the denizens of MA knew that SARS-CoV-2 was already circling the country since November 2019 (at least), would they have agreed to a shutdown 120 days later? The barn door was closed and the horse long-gone. Too bad we are surrounded by an incurious, duplicitous MSM.
I was 13 when the Iran Hostage incident occurred. I saw Carter do absolutely nothing to return our folks. Reagan, as a candidate, always talked tough. The night before Reagan’s inauguration, Iran freed the hostages. I remember the media focusing on Carter and treating it as final success of the Carter administration. I knew better…at 14. From then, I always knew the media bias, but really wasn’t sure that there was something wrong in the system. Further awakening happened during the 1992 election. A quirky businessman was in the race that spoke obvious truths and was ridiculed. He gathered amazing popular support and achieved 17% of the vote I believe. The media had the gall to suggest Perot’s running kept Clinton from achieving over 50% of the vote. No. I knew better. Perot kept Bush from winning….and I was fine with that even tho many of my “Republican” friends criticized my vote for Perot.
From there, my eyes only saw corruption in system. I would see the Bush’s hanging out with the Clinton’s post presidency. How could they possibly be friends? It was all an act…a movie directed by some unseen entity. Then, when VSGPOTUSDJT was inaugurated, and gave the absolute best inaugural address I have ever heard (take that Abe Lincoln) and then seen the system all line up against him…my eyes always saw the strings.
Yes, this. I remember all of it; add in being a Rush Limbaugh charter listener
2015 Julian Asange: Wikileaks posts on Hillary Clinton. You Tube, while working midnights, front desk receptionist. I stayed awake and looked forward to going back to utilize computer!
When George suddenly stopped running, thereby paving the way for Hillary’s husband to become the 42nd.
Great question. ✝️
Whitewater and Vince Foster’s “suicide…”.
That was the beginning of realization that there were sooooo many in DC who had no reason to let the truth be known. Started soon thereafter listening to Rush Limbaugh. It was like a door to reality opened.
I had plenty of questions since Vietnam, and the Watergate saga was pretty dirty feeling, but when the facts started coming out about Clinton, the CIA and all the other subterranean junk of Washington, I put on the tinfoil hat.
My first Red Pill moment, the South Padre causeway swindle of 1972. Then working on projects in 1980s that were intentional Savings & Loan swindles. In 1989, I competed against Disney and Houston METRO on an illegal, no bid rail system intended to be $200 million theft. Here’s proof > https://bit.ly/JoeOlson2
It started by reading the Warren Commission Report while still in high school. My conclusion is that they were going to tell us it was a lone wolf (Oswald) regardless.
There were too many pieces deemed irrelevant or “they must have been mistaken” (misremembered in today’s lexicon) that cast at least a little doubt on that. My conclusion then and now is I still I don’t know IF he did it. If so, almost certainly not alone.
In later years I’ve come to understand just how many were enemies of JFK.
Trust in DC flew away further with the politicians mismanaging Vietnam, then Watergate.
I’ve been a very cynical b*stard ever since.
And my biggest loathing is the brain-dead liberals that refuse to think.
Oswald NEVER has the physical capacity or skill, the rifle did NOT have the capacity, even with an EXPERT marksman’s hand on the trigger. Oswald was just an unusually stupid DUPE. And the ones who did the duping still have immediate relatives in ghastly high places in DC.
1967 to 1969. Vietnam. Almost died from the Hong Kong vax. Never again. Not one Clot shot. Tetanus si! All wars are bankers wars!! Disgusting
One doesn’t get to choose the family you are born into and I was raised by very far left liberal parents who of course were registered Democrats.
It wasn’t until my teens that I began to realize my core values were very different than my parents values. And when old enough to vote I also registered Democrat but there was this inkling that something didn’t feel right.
And I started listening to this B list actor named Ronald Reagan and I kept thinking how sensible he was on whatever topic was at hand.
And when he ran in 1980 despite still being registered a Democrat I cast my first vote ever for a Republican and then went and switched my registration to Republican.
And the postscript to this story is about 40 years later I had another epiphany when I realized the Republican Party was just “Democrat-lite” and switched to the Conservative Party. Yes believe it or not New York actually has a Conservative Party.
And the graduate level education that Professor Sunfance provides has lifted the tent on the Uniparty/Swamp monster we have unfortunately allowed to exist.
Afghanistan withdrawal
Amendment of the Smith-Mundt Act to allow MSM propaganda in 2011 or 2012 .
It was the day that Nixon announced that we were going off the gold standard. I was 13 with limited economic knowledge and it didn’t make any sense to me. It still doesn’t!
My first inkling that something was amiss was when a serial liar and aggressive philanderer, who claimed never to have inhaled the cannabis that he admitted he smoked, who had never collected a paycheck except from government, who committed to join ROTC to evade being drafted then later never joined, and whose only note-worthy accomplishment was to be a 7-times elected governor of a small, democrat-run Southern state, was elected president of the US – followed shortly by finding Limbaugh on a local AM station.
The scales fell completely off in 2005 when I discovered and began reading “The Daily Bayonet,” “Watts Up with That,” “Junk Science,” and “Townhall” (when it was a simple posting website where I regularly found Thomas Sowell.)
JFK
I was living in Greater New Orleans, which obviously was going down the tubes. Ray Nagin, the mayor at the time, stated he didn’t know who paid for him and his family’s trip to China. What?
Fellow former New Orleanian here. I remember Nagin, then a cable company executive who promised to bring a corporate sensibility to the city. As a successful black executive, he made for an attractive mayoral candidate with support from both the business and broader communities. What a disaster he turned out to be.
When I was 9 yrs old, SOLID. I think it started when I was about 7, by the things I chose to read, and I was a prolific reader.
I bet you asked your poor parents some tough questions. I was like you and I did.
The 2000 presidential election- watching captured institutions flagrantly violate the law to pull the Gore campaign over the line, all the way up to 4 justices in the United States Supreme Court. Watching the press utterly lie about that “assault on democracy” and millions of citizens swallow those lies.
Everything we’ve seen since then has just been upping the volume on the degradation of the state and the lies that make it possible.
I am a California girl— who did identify as liberal. However, I was always flaming pro America and God. I hated the Vietnam War and our soldiers being butchered and maimed. During my middle school years, my favorite cousin was shot in the head by a sniper and killed.
I loathed LBJ (Democrat).
I was 11–12 years old and I wanted the hell out of Vietnam.
I was unhappy about Bush -former head of the CIA being elected president (Republican). I also read that he was connected to that Boys Town horror.
Clinton’s (Democrat)
amoral behavior — and giving technology to China -really disillusioned me.
I always felt Obama (who was elected to state senate under very questionable circumstances) was a Manchurian candidate. As president he did not unite us— he fanned the flames of dissension.
I watched George W.’s face when he was reading to elementary school kids. They told him about the Twin Towers being hit. His expression did not look shocked or sincere to me.
I did not believe that those two planes were allowed to crash into those buildings and the Pentagon unimpeded. I listened to what Leer said. He didn’t buy it.
Then McCain and Romney turned out to be such lying pieces of crap.
The networks all seemed to parrot the same message. So, I researched who the very few entities are that own all the media.
Through the years, over time, I began to realize conspiracy theories were actually true. Then I glommed on to Alex Jones (and others) somewhere along the line.
Sorry for the diatribe— but I have been questioning things since I was literally a kid. Watching what happened to the Tea Party —and then Trump —sealed the deal. Global corporate entities control everything. Any leader who messes with their agenda ends up dead or destroyed (either party). I came to that realization in middle school—starting with JFK. I have increasingly questioned everything — ever since.
Yes, Virginia, there may be a Santa Claus— but Alex Jones was absolutely right!
Ha! I think AJ is an unmentioned influence behind many of these stories. He doesn’t get it all right—who does?—but he’s right about the broader trends and has taken an enormous amount of garbage for not backing down.
about a million years ago I’m old ! The nuns (we had REAL nuns, then – you know, habits, actually were believers and followers of Jesus Christ) told us about what was going on in China, then the Marxists in Hungary. I’ve been interested since then because the good nuns told us that possible one day all this would come here and we would be targeted, if we were Faithful. Well now !!!!!
When Clinton signed NAFTA and also gave North Korea millions of dollars to supposedly stop making nukes. I knew then he was selling out the American people. Bush 2 wasn’t much better. And then the icing on the cake, Obama.
My interest began in 1979 with President Carter at the helm. I couldn’t afford the heating oil to warm my home in Maine and switched to wood to help cut the cost. Cut the wood myself so I felt the cost. I remember the President telling the nation to put a sweater on and lower the temperature in your home. That was the beginning of my following of politics. I switched professions in 1981 and as a financial consultant with fiduciary responsibility I had to remain acutely aware of the decisions coming from Washington. These decisions directly or indirectly impacted the economics of the country and the world. When President Reagan came into office, it was like a shining light had arrived as if God Himself sent us relief. Been following closely ever since. Boy do we need another Reagan!! My first encounter with this Treehouse was in 2012. I stumbled into this beautiful tree during the Trayvon Martin fiasco. Have been reading it every day since. Don’t post often, my first being a reference to the fact that every day the site starts with the Lords Prayer. That was all I needed to know then. Sundance, this site has been a tremendous help to me and I’m sure many others in our journey to understand the machinations of our country’s politics. God bless you keep His shining face upon you.
Zeroe’s acceptance speech in Denver did it for me. It was like looking on the horizon at that storm coming knowing there was not a thing you could do to stop it.
O’s acceptance speech was like casting a spell on the zombified crowd. Spooky and creepy all at once.
November 22, 1963, at 12:30 p.m. That was the day JFK was assassinated. I was a high school sophomore. After that, I never looked at governments, police agencies, or news media with the same blind confidence that I had prior.
The Clarence Thomas Supreme Court hearings were my watershed. They didn’t get away with it, but coming on the heels of Robert Bork, you could see what the Left was all about and the depths to which they would stoop in their quest for unlimited power. Disgusting.
I agree. The hit piece by the Wall Street Journal on Judge Thomas was stomach turning. That ended a long subscription.
Great questions, but looking back their are a lot of data points
The Kennedy death
Walter K and the Vietnam Body Counts
Nixon and Watergate
Carter’s botched rescue mission to free the hostages
Clinton and everyone dying around them
Bush II and the expansion of Medicare and the Donut hole
Everything Obama
The woke agenda of the MSM
2020 & 2022 elections
Stayed up until 3am watching election returns in 1960. I was eleven. Daley and dems stole it from Nixon.
The Trayvon Martin – George Zimmerman story. It brought me here and following the reporting of it exposed me to the lies pushed by the media.
Listened to Rush, Mark Levin and Savage. Became involved in the Tea Party movement when I realized how bad things were getting. Got out when I realized that many heading the movement were helping themselves to the donations.
“what was that moment in your life when you realized the social, political and/or media narrative, was not at all what it was presented to be?, , Regardless of how each of us arrived here, the larger dynamic is that we likely share a common curiosity for the reality of our situation.”
Please edit as needed if unsuited. For though the excellent premise here seeks the environment that perpetuates, , I can say with first-hand certainty that during my lifetime before my own conversion from self-indulgence, self-deception and general apathetic rousing, the first glimmer struck quite clear with the manner in which Ronald Reagan conducted the affairs while POTUS. Again, unaware of the manna of sensibility I intermittingly feasted on, my life was filled with self-interest.
Is it truly fair for those of us ‘bonded in Spirit’ to say the paths of ‘regeneration’ does not have strong implication upon that perpetuation?
Began locally for myself when Governor Lowell Weicker made a bargain with the Indian reservations allowing them to open casinos. The money was to be earmarked for aid to cities & towns. Once I started following that, I began paying more attention.
Initially, during the Watergate Coup.
Recently, when they (the World Order) chose a photogenic slick trash talker to be their spokesman, on the basis of race. as if our future was a toothpaste brand.
When Bill and Hillary took up residence and we started to learn about both their scandals, and nothing ever came from any of them.
For me it was during the first Gulf war. And CNN seemed to be on the side of the enemy. That is what sticks in my mind the most. But around this time I started the notice the change in tv programming. Very subtle at first. A definite dis respect for Christians. It was my sister who told me about CTH.
I had concerns started with the election of Bill and Hillary Clinton, the Congressional approval of NAFTA and the Clinton’s dealings with the Chinese. But what really got my attention and when I really started paying attention was when obama said he was going to fundamentally change America! And no one from the corrupt leftist msm asked him WTF he meant by that!? Then Rush said he hoped he would fail and the msm had a hissy fit! On the night obama was elected Brit Hume and Charles Krauthammer were over the moon, giddy with delight! Again I’m thinking WTF is wrong with them?? I stopped watching Fox News that very night! I found Sundance and CTH through articles posted on Lucianne. I decided this is where truth is posted and discussed and I’ve been here ever since. Godspeed Sundance and Operation Sunlight!!!
For me it was John Kerry’s candidacy and his “I voted for the $87B before I voted against it” flip flop about the Iraq War. I could not rationalize any good faith explanation for how a United States Senator could vote in favor of a war and send Americans to fight and die, but then a few months later pull the rug out from under them.
Probably the Robert Bork nomination. I realized that it wasn’t that people disagreed politically, it was that we were engaged in a war where lying and personally destroying people was acceptable, expected even.
>>> Question: When was that moment for you?
I suspect I am not the only one or that unique here.
For me, it is the September 11, 2001 attack on the American soil, the indiscriminate killing of the everyday American civilians. The Left’s response, i.e., their anguish at finding the root cause of American evil empire, and John Fn Kerry (btw, “who served in ‘Nam”) approach of criminal prosecution albeit via Interpol and international court.
However most shocking of all was my significant other’s response – Nuke Afghanistan, who’s 99.9% a gentle, thoughtful, and caring soul. That alone really opened up my eyes.
That is when I started really paying attention to the domestic politics. Before that I thought I was center Left with a fiscal responsible right bend, i.e., live and let live, (not the laughable Libertarian party).
But the more I watch and learn, the more ugly the Left show themselves. Now I know truly that I am a conservative, not with the Republican party.
I met my husband in 1992 and he was a huge Rush Limbaugh fan and always listened to him.
I listened with half an ear at first and then really started to listen and realized that things I believed were totally wrong.
Then I discovered the Treehouse one day during obama’s stint in the WH.
What an eye opener that was!!
I now share the site with people I meet everywhere I go.
Yep. We were dirty filthy hippies. At home and in the Asian mud.
#Unservicable then and #Unservicable now.
Sing along…
I was there. With my two young kids. They loved that song !
1969 – in the midst of the Hong Kong/London flu pandemic (which killed millions world wide), people gathered at Woodstock, and NASA sent men to the moon. I was sick for a week and my brother brought my schoolwork home with him; 40-50% absentee rates. But we kept moving forward.
2020 – COVID pandemic; economic shutdown and people alone in their car wearing a mask.
Fallen pretty far in 50-some years.
I guess I was late to the party. The scales fell from my eyes with the passage of Obamacare and the way it was done. I realized that no matter how many letters I wrote or phone calls I made DC was going to do what it wanted. I then started watching Glen Beck on Fox and with his chalkboard began to connect the dots. After seeing what I’ve seen and knowing what is probably coming I sometimes wish I were still ignorant of the facts. With that being said I have to add that knowing what I now know makes me more determined to fight for the country that I love.
Many years ago hearing it costs more to run toll booths with people and pay pensions than to completely remove tolls
Now they send you bill after you drive by the cameras. The toll takers have been moved to other “jobs” in government.
I was an ignorant die-hard Republican backer in the same way I’m a die-hard Alabama Roll Tide fan. I argued for my team no matter the flaws. I proudly voted for Reagan in the first presidential election I participated in. Then Bush, (both,) then McCain, (very excited with his choice of running mate,) but when Obama beat McCain/Palin after campaigning on a platform of total destruction of America, I was aghast. I knew that it was because of his race and not his platform that he won. It had to be or otherwise I feared our country was lost forever. But I’ll have to admit that I was even a bit excited having that glass ceiling finally broken and having our first black president elected. I enjoyed the emotion felt by some of my black friends and the whole nation as he was inaugurated, praying to God that he would govern differently than he campaigned. But day by day as he implemented policies that destroyed America just as he promised, I WOKE UP!!! I started studying politics and quickly learned about the game DC played. It didn’t take long to get nauseatingly sick of the swamp and everything it encompassed. I held my nose and voted for Romney in the next election but when Trump and his MEGA platform came along, my first thought was “here’s our wrecking ball that can tear it all down so we can rebuild it the way the forefathers intended.” Still think that’s true about Trump. I just had no idea how bad the swamp was until he got elected. I was awake but not well informed. That’s when I found CTH and support him financially because he is one of my only trusted sources. I have learned so much from following him. But it’s a little like being unplugged from the matrix. You see all the ugly. THE BIG UGLY! You see the strings on the marionettes and don’t enjoy the show anymore. But if there’s one thing I’ve learned from Sundance that is more important than anything else, it is to keep living your best life and enjoy your family and friends and don’t let them win in that arena. We keep fighting with our eyes wide open but we keep loving God, family and country.
2012 – Benghazi
Hillary’s narrative and the media’s portrayal.
We reformed former 60s radicals have been paying attention for 50 years. We switched sides when we realized the nature of the shytstorm we had started.
I truly relate to this statement! A guy in Pittsburgh named Jim Quinn called them grey ponytails, although I remember them as hippies, today they’re called socialists or Marxists. Experiencing them today in their 70’s, the men are weak and the women have never married. Miserable bunch.
Many are lifelong potheads.
The real freaks — the ones who could think for themselves — turned away from the Movement, went back to the land, and gave their loyalty to Jesus. I know many. The men are not weak and the women are grandmothers.
I had been sensitive to / suspicious of the idea that there was a narrative that seemed to favor one side, that the media would consistently push in the same general direction.
What really confirmed my suspicion was the book by Gary Allen “None Dare Call it Conspiracy” someone put that paperback in my hands as I walked into a convention hall in the early 70’s.
But, what really seal the deal was Donald Trump and the onslaught of his own “party” when he campaigned for the Republican nominee.
This was the eye opener the point in which the veil ripped from top to bottom and the darkness I saw can never be unseen.
That was in the beginning…
