Let me qualify this post and question by saying this is something I have wanted to ask and write about for quite a while. I often ask this question to people I meet in general life discussion, and I am very interested to hear every response. Today is a great day to ask this…
Think back… So, you are living your life, doing what you and everyone familiar to you are doing in the ordinary and regular way of living your specific life.
Perhaps you paid some attention to the political comings and goings of things, perhaps not.
Perhaps like most comfortably invisible people you were just putting one foot in front of the other, and generally doing the day-to-day things that most would consider ordinary.
Then one day, for some unknown and likely not that consequential reason, something caught your attention. Something piqued your curiosity; perhaps you noticed something you wouldn’t ordinarily have noticed. Perhaps you heard something, or saw something, or were just in a situational space where something itched your brain as you looked at something, heard something or noticed something that just didn’t quite fit or sit right.
Perhaps that little something, or big something, caused you to look just a little bit closer at the story, event or moment with a little more curiosity than before. Perhaps you dug into that specific moment with a little more than a side-eye glance, and you noticed something. After looking at it a little closer, you realized that construct was not at all what it appeared to be on the surface.
From that moment forward, for the first time, you really started to question the ‘thing’ that was in front of you, and from that moment forward, you woke up to recognize that things around you, things you perhaps didn’t pay attention to before, were not what you thought they were. It was from this moment when you really started to pay attention and your political awakening began.
Question: When was that moment for you?
I am always amazed at the replies I get in real life to this question of when the individual awakening began.
For some it was at an early age, for others much later in life. For some it was recently, and for others it was a long time ago. However, for everyone there was that moment when it started, and it is completely unique to the individual.
So, on this day, Sunday February 19, 2023, a generally innocuous day in the grand scheme of things, I pose this question to everyone.
Yes, even all the CTH lurkers who read here and never join the conversation. The comment section is open for all replies with the general rules of on-line decorum still standing. Us old schoolers still use the early internet standards of on-line discussion, and CTH requests polite and civil conversation that enlightens, expands thinking and uplifts the audience.
I am genuinely curious and will be reading every reply because it’s really cool to see what that “moment” was for each person. I’m pretty sure the entire CTH community will also enjoy reading the unique replies to the question.
We all travel a different path. We all come from different, likely comfortably invisible, life experiences. And we all merge into this big melting pot of curious people who are looking deeply at the issues we face. Regardless of how each of us arrived here, the larger dynamic is that we likely share a common curiosity for the reality of our situation. It’s a safe bet to say that almost everyone reading this is in the top-tier of “high information” consumers.
My question is not what arrived you at The Conservative Treehouse, but rather what the moment was when you began looking around and realizing that things just didn’t seem to add up. That’s the origin of the journey. That’s the moment I am inquiring about.
Perhaps it’s a weird way of looking at CTH, but our fellowship is always what has been the most important aspect to this little corner of the internet. It’s not the content of the Treehouse, but the conversation on the porch that matters. You, the readers, friends, people who assemble here, are the important element. Not me and not the site admins.
That’s genuinely the way I have always looked at our fellowship, and that’s also the reason for every detail I put into keeping this little corner of the internet standing.
So, with that in mind, what was that moment in your life when you realized the social, political and/or media narrative, was not at all what it was presented to be?
Love to all,

I absolutely lost my mind when the gubermint passed the “Patriot Act”. I knew that things were not right at that point. I just didn’t realize how bad it truly was. Or how much worse it would become…
Jo, you are smarter than the average bear.
At that point in time, treasonous Geo Bush had us all believing that ISIS was coming for us all.
BTW, did you know Beijing Biden tried to pass the “Patriot Act” in the 90’s, but the freedom loving Americans weren’t yet scared enough. The legislation has been ready for approval for at least a half decade before the opportunity succeeded.
Me too!!!! I hate the TSA. As a blonde female with certain physical attributes, I was “randomly” frisked/searched for years nearly every time I flew!!! Flying used to be fun.
Maybe for me it was on 9/11. Although I paid attention to politics and especially court decisions that seemed to be against the Constitution (I worked in the legal field before retirement a couple years ago), I really didn’t realize how much government lied to me until then. And, when the Patriot Act passed I realized how quickly they were to “never let a crisis go to waste”.
I knew something was really horribly wrong when Ross Perot dropped out of the presidential race due to death threats from very scary people, must be CIA I thought.
Shortly afterwards I saw the Norman Dodd interview and all observations I’ve made since corroborate his information.
If you have not seen the interview it is a must see. It should be required for all Treepers.
2008, when I realized the “free” press was more about cheerleading (trying to do a historic first) rather than reporting.
The Reagan presidency and the Rush Limbaugh Show sealed the deal for me.
For me it was when I started listening to Rush in the early 90’s shortly after Clinton was elected. I briefly subscribed to the National Review back then (Buckley was still alive and in charge), and remember picking up some decent commentary from it as well as Rush’s newsletters.
>>> So, with that in mind, what was that moment in your life when you realized the social, political and/or media narrative, was not at all what it was presented to be?

Sundance –
Thank you for this discussion. Wow, two and a half thousand thoughtful, articulate replies, just like that – CTH rocks, amigo!
I imagine this level of rapid response is most gratifying to you. Thanks for all your tireless diligence and devotion over the years (I’ve been perched on a branch since “Zimmerman v. Martin”), especially in light of the obstacles you’ve encountered along the way.
Dear President Trump (& Crew): You have a powerful ally here.
I was mostly ignorant/apathetic to the depth of the corruption, and collusion- federal government, and most forms of media – until 0bama’s birth certificate debacle. THAT was my “aha!” moment, when I could no longer not see.
Which, in turn, has prompted me to question and research EVERYTHING we’re told (or ever have been told) by our overlords (which, in response to another recent question from you to the CTH collective, is how I knew not to get the jab – the Matrix is not to be trusted).
Thanks again.

For me, I started to question things as a youth when JFK was assassinated. The puzzle pieces just didn’t fit and I became suspicious of the govt. Then life, kids, work, finances and just surviving, took over and like millions of other Americans, I was asleep and politically apathetic. Then in 2015, when Donald Trump came down the escalator and gave his first speech, I woke up! He said exactly what I’d been thinking. It was like being shaken awake hard. It resonated. I jumped to attention and became an ‘America First’ and DJT advocate and started to read, research, donate, volunteer and study. Now know/believe in the absolute corruption of our media, elections, judicial system and the entire US government and am very discouraged at my (our) inability to make a difference or fix it. It feels like ‘they’ are consistently winning. Now it’s like knowing too much. I just can’t foresee the ‘tipping point’ where 70-80M of us step up together and say “Enough! Things must change”
Spring, 1962. Family friends participated in a rummage sale for ‘Armenian Relief’ every spring. Asked what happened in Armenia, parents said, ‘please do not ask Mrs. A. about what happened, it’s terrible, will discuss it later.
What ‘happened’ was the islamist 1915 Armenian Genocide which first disarmed and then slaughtered more than one and one half million Armenians and others in Asia-Minor, the survivors left to languish under communism promoted by America’s then Elites, the rockefellers and other Wall Street financiers.
Another family friend during the early 60s, spoke of being placed in a wooden barrel and rolled aboard a London-bound steamer, to escape the 1915 genocide.
Self-educated in London, he eventually settled in the Bahamas with his wife who was from Cuba.
His wife’s family fled Cuba early, foreseeing the communist disaster known as castro, who was promoted by the US State Department, Eleanor Roosevelt, and NYSLIMES, and who would have been nowhere without their kind endorsements.
This was at a time when Americans smugly said, ‘Oh no, it can’t happen here!’ Asked why not, they had no answer.
Because it can happen here and is presently.
Who can resist a communist revolution? So romantic! So exciting! So many promises! So much genocide.
The lesson was learned early on, beware man’s governments. They can go bad in a second, and when they do, they go very bad very quickly.
I was reading this forum from some accidental way I got here, one of the responders was telling us how he was being followed and worried about the black sedans coming to get him because he spoke up about, and I don’t remember because there were so many things obuttholio did that pissed me off, something disparaging about obama. I guess he pissed someone off as well. From that day I have been coming to see if that person is still with us, and all the great and insightful stuff I have learned over the years.
my attention started gradually in the 1979 thru the 1980 election cycle. President Reagan sparked my interest in the BS being promulgated by Carter and the Dems. I always sided with the Renquist-Berger dissents among SCOTUS opinions, and greatly miss President Reagan
Sundance, back when we were small enough for you to be more involved directly with readers I came on board because you were a voice that matched what I had been finding on my own out in corporate America.
I was kicked out of the liberals for asking a couple of very innocuous questions, questions I only asked because I fully expected to have great answers that would utterly demolish the arguments of two conservative friends.
I was confounded to find myself first chastised and then targeted and then essentially labeled a conservative and cancelled.
I was not a liberal because I ‘joined’ them, it had been pure educational indoctrination that had placed me there; but I am not a joiner so when I got kicked out I didn’t revert to the standard behavior of a liberal, groveling and begging to be reinstated.
I started to look at the conservative arguments and just by the simple act of opening my mind a little bit…everything reactivated. My curiosity, my observation, my analytical skills, even my sense of humor became functional again…and then I was furious.
Red pilled converts are angry because being smart enough to recognize that the liberal ideology is one big lie, it is downright humiliating to know that we were made fools of by that group. We are like rat terriers and worse for the left we know EXACTLY how they think.
Sundance, I don’t think that you were ever a liberal but you were able to beautifully express the behavior of the left and it did my still steaming heart good to find you.
I had been an unpublished writer stuck in corporate America to avoid the starving garret routine.
Early on I discovered that as a temp there was some incredible advantages.
As a writer, being able to transition to new companies, new environments and new missions I was supplied with an abundance of new characters and plot dynamics.
As a reasonably intelligent worker with old fashioned work ethic I enjoyed the challenge of being placed in different environments and having to hit the ground running, learning the ropes and adapting quickly.
As time went on, I learned perhaps the most valuable advantage of all: I didn’t have Performance Reviews.
My career timeline matched up with the evolution of Human Resource from its obscure beginnings to its present KGB atrocious level of power.
Initially managers were supplied the applications and oversaw them and also drew up the job requirements.
There was not even a ‘personnel’ at that point, just primarily women with bad perms, polyester mismatched clothing, handing out birthday balloons and checks.
then personnel came in and CLICK, identity politics, grievance stuck its foot in the door and all hell broke loose.
HR now supplies a thing called ‘orientation’. AS a new employee, presumably grateful for the job, you go in and ‘learn’.
After three days you have been supplied with enough information to make you doubt, even suspect, your manager of having nefarious intentions that will undermine your ability to achieve and advance.
I saw this.
Working for over 124 different companies, some large, some small, some not corporations but mom and pops, some government, some education, medical, what have you..
I SAW this.
Human Resources, by the late 90s, had as their ideal candidate, to serve THEIR agenda (not the company’s or the managers) a handicapped, black lesbian. I don’t say that blithely. I was there IN HR throwing out the applications of better suited white males.
I have been trying for well over two decades to write about what HR has done and how HR is just the graduate level indoctrination, the continuation of the K-12 through college indoctrination that has made today’s snowflakes and intolerants.
I saw HR come in with militant activists, too many of them feminists with chips on their shoulders the size of Mt. Rushmore, with an animus towards men and women with traditional values that stank to high heavens.
I saw HR impose the decree that companies could no longer hire people with real world experience. I realized as time went on that this was because real world experience supplies common sense and personal initiative that are anathema to the marxist dictate of knocking everyone down to ‘equal’ status and imposing a paralyzing conformity that robs America of its foundational principles.
I learned, after being told that I was ineligible for permanent placement in HR (early on I too thought they were about encouraging morale) , that my major flaws were seeing people as individuals and liking and encouraging people too much.
This last slam had an eerie ring to it and I could not figure out why…because I was born in a very transitional year and I ‘just missed’ learning the full extent of the Marxist poison….
Meaning that there were omissions (I had some time in education and learned ALL ABOUT ‘omissions’, which has contributed greatly to my conservative views) in my education.
Well, after some digging I learned (and this was 20 years ago, things have evolved for the worse since then) of what their admonishment reminded me.
HR policy was 85% parallel with the Communist Manifesto.
will use that last point as a springboard to explain why I came on board here shortly after Obama was elected.
I discovered patterns after being dropped from place to place and I formed opinions based upon these patterns. You and Thomas Sowell, Victor Davis Hanson, Mary Eberstadt, Glenn Reynolds and several others (but sadly not enough) have all been finding many of these same patterns.
Then, when I was able to tie in the abortion, human trafficking and drug cartels to the uniparty AND education AND Big Pharma, my need to find a means to grow collective knowledge in the nation erupted.
I believe that you are pivotal in creating the momentum for that and the way that your site went from a casually dismissed ‘conspiracy’ site, to one that the globalists most fear and want to take down validated my opinion of you.
So, I guess I really REALLY woke up around when my first question to a liberal mentor was responded to by a harsh rebuke.
It IS possible to learn things retroactively, meaning that it is very true that a former liberal is the worst enemy of the globalists because we know their methods and our anger makes us less inclined to hide in a corner or to waste time nitpicking.
The fundamental purpose of the conservative party IS to obliterate abortion but it is not because it is infanticide, a moral obscenity that until our ‘enlightened’ time all viewed as such;
But because the abortion industry is the pandora’s box
Abortion is unregulated and even more crime and corruption and extortion is available through it than through the obscure and wholly ambiguous ‘climate’ regulations.
Abortion industry is the tip of the iceberg, under which the elites are not only feeding their personal perversion, but through which an obscene amount of wealth is available to them as the most valuable commodity on earth is their trade product: children, from the unborn to the teen.
Every single terrorist, drug lord, gang member, illegal smuggler, arms dealer, can work their way into America, courtesy of hte wholly unregulated abortion industry.
Our elections are stolen because these people know that you, Tucker Carlson, Lara Logan and pretty much everybody media has been censoring, are bringing to the surface the unspeakable atrocity that is directly tied to them.
And they can feel that noose tightening and so they are panicked and desperate and that is why we are seeing this mad obsession still to stop Trump, a level of effort unprecedented in history, but which our dumbed down and diversity ‘divided’ society has not been able to collectively recognize as the attack on us that it is. We focus on Trump, worry about Trump, because too many don’t have the guts to admit that harvested ballots, hijacked electronic voting machine and crooked vote counters make any election a foregone conclusion.
I woke up Sundance, but being unemployed stuck in the belly of the beast, needing a job that gives me flexible remote wrok and enough compensation; while also giving me time to take care of my mother and write…that makes me a not so effective ringleader. All I can do is do what I can to encourage you who are ringleaders.
And I thank God for you.
Thank you for taking the time to detail your path!
I currently work as a contractor, part time, to a federal agency in their HR department. It is not only “woke” but EVERYTHING is about Equity, Diversity and Inclusion. Although the people are nice people, the agenda to push the DEI program onto everyone is disgusting, and it does not result in excellence.
A lot of the people there do not even seem to recognize what is going on. They just march in lock step with the agenda. Your tax dollars support it and it is a waste of time and money. The organization I am in could be streamlined to be more efficient and more effective with half the people.
You have to be a very strong person to press on every day when surrounded by that. I admire your strength.
Jann, you have my sympathy. So many in HR at mid level went in thinking they’d be contributing to morale, wanting to make the work environment better…only to discover you are in the thick of the most militant marxist activism in the nation.
It’s really hard and I’m trying to figure out how to write about this so that it’s not only accessible to our teeny attention spanned culture, but so that it is presented humorously enough that they won’t get defensive when they see they’ve been suckered into taking the kool-aid.
You are literally enduring emotional torture, so make sure that you have some balance outside of work.
God watch over you!
Government jobs are not about profit or efficiency (well, for the top of the hierarchy there is insider trading profit), they are about employing people who will vote for big government. They don’t make any money they just spend it, OUR money…which they don’t value because NONE of these people make their wealth honestly.
I enjoyed reading your story. Your perspective from the ‘belly of the beast’ was insightful.
I admit I had never thought about how it’s th HR that dictates the Marxist compliance.
Thank you
AS i said, they had to impose the ‘must have a degree’ because if you go to college you won’t have life experience to counter the marxist lunacy, you’ll just be swallowing more of the kool-aid you have been fed since pre-sechool, the stuff that makes you an eternal adolescent and more willing to subscribe to grievance rather than personal initiative based on developing one’s potential.
If you go out of school and have to find work you quickly learn that reality doesn’t encourage perpetual adolescence…and globalists most loathe two things: close families that have a staunch faith and close bond wiht each other; and free thinkers with optimism and a proactive character.
Conformity and perpetual fear are essential traits of ‘subjects’.
Don’t sell yourself short. I bet you are quite effective, and I hope your writing is continuing.
I admit that as a former dem I can relate to feeling very betrayed when the scales fell away and just a bit vengeful about it sometimes. Thinking about what I wish I could do, another avenue of mischief…
Thank you for your comment. You are so right about HR! And I would add company “safety” departments. A former boss had his BP meds changed & our COMPANY doctors told him no driving his company vehicle for TWO WEEKS until they knew it was okay & he wasn’t having any problems. I couldn’t believe it that they could override a personal doctor. Blew my mind!
I didn’t even get into REGULATORY (another department intimately tied to the marxist HR and to legal and woke marketing) !
I am not only without medical coverage but I don’t actually even want it. I’ve had to learn about alternative medicine because here in the Bay Area our doctors are in on hte fix..or the good doctors are so reduced in number that not only do they dare not voice their reservations about the crazy direction of the medical establishment, but they are not taking on new patients.
I’m happily broke so it’s not an option for me…but since my jobs included time in Biotech and Biopharma I know that Trump was not being casual when early on he admitted that many cures have been found but they are withheld.
Cancer and several diseases are due to parasites and we have no business treating them with this ancient, toxic chemo.
And adult stem cells have been criminally suppressed because, as with actual cured diseases, there is no profit it in it.
Embryonic stem cells are a multi-billion dollar industry, but they are NOT use d to cure anything…so far they are only proving effective (and very imperfectly) in cloning and frankenstein research).
Most doctors and scientiests I worked with told me that they steer clear of meds because they are so aware of the toxic side effects. So many went into research because their time as doctors became prohibitively expensive and restrictive due to liability insurance and regulations.
Oh there is so MUCH you pick up when you work all over tarnation over 30 years…even someone who comes out of a froufrou elite college can shed the airhead ignorance and learn something.
😉
This was really insightful – Thank you.
Thank you…send up a prayer that I can channel some Looney Tunes or Monty Python and present it pithy and funny! 🙂
Rand Paul is controlled by the Big Club too. He had his chance to change the course of history and he wimped out with the rest of the RINOs instead.
Only ONE vote was needed for CONgress to recess so President Trump could appoint his own cabinet free of Cocaine Chow Fung Mitch. Just ONE vote out of all those CONgress critters was needed. And Paul did NOT step up to help our President.
There is only ONE President Trump and the UNiparty fears only HIM. He is the one to vote for.
I never bought the lone gunman executions, the Nixon coup, swamp gas or weather balloons, but my real clueing in was in the late 1980s when I read Last Waltz of the Tyrants. It’s the sort of book you have to research and verify… Imo it checks out. And frankly I knew in my gut it was true as I read it. I think we are in deep poo and only learning to love as Christ told us to… even our adversaries… will help, because then we will deserve help.
I trace my initiation and conversion to conservatism to approximately 1978-89 time frame when I became aware of the geopolitical concept of MAD: Mutual Assured Destruction. Our household had a subscription to Time Magazine and I read it pretty much every week. One week Time’s cover featured a geographic world picture of sorts divided between the US and the USSR with .44 Magnums pointed at each other. And after reading the article I was both intrigued and terrified of this policy and I started to dig.
So the basis of my beliefs has been rooted in national security and foreign policy but has morphed into so much more.
My moment was when Bill Clinton was playing the sax in his boxers. Completely disrespecting his position as President. I think Fox News had recently started up, and I also discovered someone who slowly became like my second dad: The Great RUSH LIMBAUGH! : )
It came in phases. The start was in 1992, a coworker invited my wife and I to a small political event inside someone’s home. No Party affiliation was mentioned, only that a candidate was going to speak.
The candidate turned out to be Democrat. I politely kept my mouth shut and listened. I came away wide awake. Soon afterward, I was volunteering to help ALL Republican campaigns.
I was awakened in 2008 to a communist leaning segment of the Democrat Party. A few years after this I began watching videos from KrisAnne Hall and started more thorough reading of The Declaration of Independence and US Constitution.
In March 2020, I awakened to Globalism and its connection to COVID, it’s connection to closed polling locations and potential for election fraud.
In November 2020 I worked Milwaukee Central Count and witnessed a small portion of the fraud. GOP attorneys promised us they would fight fraudulent ballots later. The fight didn’t happen. In November 2020 I awakened to the GOP being involved in the fraudulent election.
Today I clearly see Globalism. I view COVID as engineered, patented and an excuse to administer the jab for depopulation. I view a political uni-party. I no longer have a Party. I did not renew membership in the GOP. Members of the uni-party, except for very few, are Globalists, taking orders from Globalists. In order to take the globe. Globalists must crush the US. That destruction is underway. Ukraine is the Earth’s money laundering location. BLM and Antifa are Communist operated organizations. Most citizens in the US do not see any of this and live in my pre-1992 world.
I describe myself to friends as a Constitutional Originalist, Restorationist; which includes all legal amendments.
It was in the early 1970s. I had been involved in Dem politics at a local level, then as a lawyer handling a few minor liberal matters. In conversation with a partner one day something snapped and I blurted out “the government is the enemy!” He agreed and my life changed direction as a conservative.
My first vote for President was for Jimmy Carter, my father was a democrat as was the parent of everyone whom I knew as a teenager during the late 60s. I registered as a Democrat. The complete and total fiasco known as Jimmy Carter’s time in the White House culminated by the 444 days of captivity of Americans in Tehran woke me up. I change my party registration to Republican and voted for Ronald Reagan and a straight Republican Party ticket since that election.
My second awakening was in 2018 when Martha McSally lost the special election for Arizona’s Senate seat vacated when John McCain past away. I went to bed that night with McSally up 35,000 votes at 23:00 hours and woke that next morning with McSally losing by 30,000 votes if my memory serves me correctly. The cheat was in for Maricopa County then and has been as we all know now until this day.
For me it was obama and ‘fundamental change’. I saw no reason for this amount of ‘change’ and listening to liberal friends and family saying ‘change is good’ caused me pause. I reminded them that a normal cell becoming a cancerous shell is ‘change’ as well. I had never cared about politics until that point. Next thing I know, I’m banned from Facebook forever lol….
I was getting suspicious during W’s Presidency, especially the “weapons of mass destruction”, and was quite concerned about the passing of the Patriot Act. Ron Paul did a lot to help open my eyes and I still like to get his take on things to this day.
Interesting question. I thought that things were crystallizing for me back in 2000 and then the tea party really brought things to the fore. However I was really in denial about how bad things were until Obama. And then when Trump got elected it was like someone turned the lights on all the way. The cockroaches couldn’t hide anymore.
Sundance
please consider a follow up post asking “when did you throw in the towel?”
for me it was when Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnel cemented Obama’s spending increases as the new baseline for budgeting.
fxck the gop.
My first epiphany came when I was 14 & 15 years old, 1979 & 1980, I knew most of what Carter did was destroying the economy but I couldn’t understand why at that age until Candidate Reagan broke it down in layman terms. I saw my Reagan democrat, Irish Catholic parents make the logical transition to conservatism. My second epiphany came when I realized the to GOP wasn’t a team, but two separate teams. It was in 2012 when Newt Gingrich called out romney saying that mittens goal was to “manage the decay” of America, I believe that was in a presidential debate in SC! Sundance, because of your insight, every time I hear the name DeSantis, I apply that Speaker Gingrich line to meatball Ron! Trump 24!
I was in high school in the late 70’s. I remember thinking it so annoying that the media reports the news as if their audience was in kindergarten.
Headed out from the Midwest to La La Land in the 80’s and proceeded to work hard, make lots of money and go through a fake marriage.
A cheating spouse opened my eyes that things aren’t what they seem. I was living in the “Valley” when the OJ verdict came down and that’s when I knew somethings wrong. Also the Rodney King LA riots happened and the police chief went out of town and Korea Town burned to the ground. That really weirded me out. A string of societal breakdowns that are tied together that leads us where we are.
I was an Air Force officer. It was the only thing I wanted to do. Couldn’t be a fighter pilot so I became an Air Weapons Controller. Next best thing. I flew 44 missions in desert shield/storm. I would and still would die for this country.
When I saw us throw away lives in Somalia I knew something was terribly wrong.
Hillary Clinton concession speech after loosing to Trump.
She blamed Russia
For me it was the assassination of John F. Kennedy. I’m 84. In my mid 20’s I was employed by Texas Bank & Trust Company, Dallas, TX, (at that time) located at the corner of Main & Lamar Streets. Only a few block from the School Book Depository. I had just leaned out the 3rd story window to wave to the motorcade. Then it happened minutes later. Many people at the scene came into the bank lobby afterward and ALL said shots were fried from “grassy Knoll” “railroad overpass”. Not one said they came from the School Book Depository. Then all the “strange happenings” thereafter with Jack Ruby & all. My doubt ;eve; elevated and I have NEVER believed the propaganda put forth. Then Lyndon Johnson became President and his reputation in Texas wasn’t that superior!
Tough to put it on one moment, it was and is more of a continuing eduction for me as time goes by. I am sure this is pretty common with readers too.
There were several moments for me.
9/11 – Awakening to threat of radical Islamic nutjobs
Mark Steyn’s book “America Alone” – 2006 – ditto
Treatment of Sarah Palin by the media in 2008 election cycle – out of control media bias
Romney disappearing in last couple of weeks of 202 Election – and his comfort at losing – Uniparty
”Coming Apart” – book by Charles Murray – read it around 2013. – D.C. and Wall Street elitism, and the effects on the USA
”Time to get tough” book by VSG PDJT – the first release. Read it around 2014. Basically an election platform dry run.
The Escalator ride and bombastic declaration on running – VSG Trump.
Introduction to CTH and Sundance – early 2016 – courtesy of old neighbour Dekester. Thank you, Dekes. I felt like I was so much more informed than just about anyone around me regarding the huge groundswell forming behind VSG Trump.
2018 Presidential Election – Southern California delays in results, flipping races from GOP to Dems during the week directly following the election – election stealing.
The “pandemic” and the worst response ever to a virus – shutting down the world economy. Nothing, absolutely, nothing, exposed the legal of ignorance and amount of zombie sheep all around us like that 2020-2021 period. It even surpassed the scope of the narrative around man made climate change.
2020 Stolen Election – you could see it coming, but the the fact they pulled it off and the Uniparty RINOs allowed them to is just still absolutely shocking and incredible.
I am very thankful that I own my own, thriving business, since 2015, and am not subjected to all of the corporate b.s. that is so rampant out there.
First awakening was Bush 1. I was a professional adult by then, nonpolitical, voted split ticket.
Final awakening Bush 2. I spotted the Uniparty.
Three things, a decade apart.
1 Clinton administration Serb vs. Bosnian et al war. I listened to NPR commuting to work and they kept beating the drums that the US needed to get involved, to stop the aggression. Clinton and NATO went in and that very day the drum beat changed to a frantic, Chicken Little type of story that we needed to GET OUT, now now now. I lost all respect for NPR at that point and we stopped donating to our college radio.
2 At work they had CNN on in the break room and I remember watching a newscaster, possibly Lemon, shaking his head sadly at how stupid and incompetent Bush 2 was. The tone of voice, body language and facial expressions made it clear that only stupid and evil people could support Bush or any Republican or conservative. That made me pay closer attention to the constant barrage of bias. Before that I was dimly aware.
The final thing was in 2008 when Obama was campaigning. The news reporting about Obama was nauseating, cult-like and that got my attention; it was scary and reminded me of Pol Pot and Mao. Obama said he wanted to “fundamentally transform America” and I went through everything I could find but nowhere did he say what he wanted to transform it to. I got his autobiography from the library and found everything he said sounded reasonable at first, then he ended it with a sting in the tail denigrating his opponents. He frightened me because he sounded plausible and media coverage was so positive, fawning, and I paid very very close attention after that. When I retired I got active in our county Republican party and tried to help America-First candidates.
It was around the end of 2000. I had read Behold a Pale Horse by William Cooper. Seemed pretty wild stuff and I was reading up on various facets of his book, Club of Rome etc., when 9/11 happened. In the book he stated they were looking for a false flag, emergency situation to allow the globalists to surveil American citizens and give up their freedom 9/11 happened and with everything that followed I felt like I was in a movie. Made me dive into everything and learn sooo much.
Funny enough, I used to loan the book to people and tell them theres some good info in there, but it gets into crazy stuff like UFOs, even UFO’s in the water! Turns out NOT CRAZY! Its almost been admitted. This recent stuff with admission of UFO’s really blew my mind and reminded me of him witnessing one personally in his book.
Bill Cooper explains in the book that he is not sure if he was connecting all the dots correctly but that his main goal was to to make the American Public aware that something was very wrong and to be vigilant. He held that at the top of everything was a Satanic Cabal. Bill wasnt crazy about alot of things.
R.I.P.- William Cooper
When John McCain was running for President, paraphrasing here:
You need to elect me because I know how Washington, DC runs and that why I’m the obvious candidate.
And that is when i began to see the ever so faint marionette strings which now have began to appear as bold cables.
For me it was the confluence of listening to Bob Dornan’s morning minutes, Bruce Herschenson’s campaign for office, and reading Thomas Sowell’s ‘Vision of the Annointed.’ I was powerless to resist the awakening.
When I was in the Navy at EOD school Indian Head, MD. The 1992 election. The next morning we all were depressed and stunned. Chief comes in the room and immediately works to cheer us up saying something along the lines of, “It will be OK. We still have a job to do.” And as we all know, Clinton closed more military bases during his time as President.
Before that, I always knew I was a conservative, right thinking voter. My liberal friends knew not to even discuss my opinions without getting a through education in what is REALLY going on.
The list of in our face F ups is difficult for me to comprehend how the average American cannot see what is going on. Especially people like Hillary. How can someone so incompetent “get away” with everything she has done? Simple, “they” allow it because this is the plan.
Here in St. Louis, the riots, which had mostly people from out of town, that destroyed everything in its path. I was a recruiter for the VA at the time, and trying to get an MD or RN to even entertain moving to St. Louis for a very well paying job, was fruitless.
And it builds everyday.
Thank you for providing this opportunity for we the people to speak what is on our minds! This is a great format and I have discovered that I and my husband are not alone in what we have seen, experienced, heard or made to believe. The list is lengthy but the posts are worth my time, if only to confirm what I believe to be true regarding the powers that be in Washington and other officials in public places that seem to know better than anyone what is best for most of us! Anyway, I do want to thank you for this !
Well a day late, I place my long comment into the sea of the other 2000+
Pivotal things I remember:
We critical thinkers are not long for this “polite society” of compliant serfs that the world is turning into. I am trying to raise the alarm to people in my small orbit, but most don’t see it.
My wake-up day was March 16th, 2020, when I left early at 6:00 AM to get groceries. Upon entering the store, I saw lines of people and store shelves empty. I was stunned and knew everything had changed for all of us.
It was around 1988 or 89 when i started watching Rush Limbaugh on TV . He totaly changed my perspective on what was going on in this country. I was raised a Dem-a-rat. My whole family was dem-a-rats. Rush opened my eyes. I switched parties an the rest is history. God bless Rush an God bless America. Rest in peace Rush.
From James Dobson Focus on the Family radio in the early 80’s to Tony Perkins FRC’s informational / action-oriented newsletters to finding Rush Limbaugh in his launch year to joining the tea party at its rise as a push back against the awfulness of Obama & Team -( and then seeing our rejection by GOP ), to seeking out better insights than from Fox News and and a few online news magazines, I finally came to The Conservative Treehouse around the time of the Benghazi mess because it was so obviously a horrid tragedy caused by our own evil ‘leaders’ that I had to search and search information to understand it. SO, you got me there, Sundance, and have been my #1 go to ever since! This treehouse is my refuge and I trust you guys!
I now also appreciate listening to Warroom w Steve Bannon.
Seeking truth and yearning for our nation to be the Constitutional Republic it was forged to be has been a journey for sure. I have less and less trusted sites to keep up w now, but it does seem that more and more Deplorables are standing up all over! So I have hope still. If not for personal faith that God is ultimately in control, can act, will not desert us, and knowing there are many who will stand our ground in Christ – I would despair. But, our God is bigger, and there is enough light on the path. The light is stronger than the dark.
So three moments- 2008 Bush decision to sell us out to financial sector, the rejection of tea party by GOP, Benghazi.
I keep seeing “Patriot Act” references. Keep in mind, the “Patriot Act” passage was attempted in the 90’s, but the freedom loving Americans weren’t yet scared enough. The legislation has been ready for approval for at least a half decade before the opportunity succeeded.
Leading up to the 2016 election, I started noticing that the rhetoric was heating up against anyone supporting a conservative agenda. A veteran NYS history teacher, and lifelong closet republican, I watched with curiosity what was happening. Found this quote in the NYT, which I read back then, (We must make the basis of our state consent to disagreement. Therein shall we ensure its deepest harmony. Howard Laski, 1914) investigated, and put it on a poster sized post-it on the wall of my HS classroom. It became my mantra, and I started pushing back against the now new and open policy of shutting down discourse during the Trump administration.
Facing censorship in the fall of 2019, after34 years in my field, I made the decision to retire, and through a dear friend found Treehouse. While saddened at what I see happening on a daily basis, I continue to gather information regularly, to find confirmation of what I know, and to very very gently guide my now college freshman daughter (yes, freshman not “first” year) to look for what is in what isn’t, and to look for what isn’t in what is. Discourse and disagreement are necessary for balance in life. Always.
I have hope. I must always have hope. And I am forever grateful for this site.
God Bless the America I know and love.
In 1973 I was driving with a friend to California for a vacation. In the Mohave Desert we witnessed a UFO for 30 to 40 minutes. Up to that point in my life, I would have scoffed at anyone who described such a thing, but this sighting left no alternatives in my mind as to the nature of what we saw. It happened that our first stop in California was in the Central Valley to visit family friends — a couple, who had long been close to my parents. The husband had just retired from the Air Force at the rank of colonel. After hearing our description of what we had seen and where it had occurred, he took my friend and me into his den where he made a phone call. He described pretty much verbatim what we had told him about our experience to his interlocutor and then asked a question that shocked me to my core and forever changed how I regarded the nature of my relationship to my government. He asked “Was it one of ours?”
From that time forward I have always had a healthy skepticism about anything our government tells us.
Sooo . . . don’t leave us hanging: Was it “one of ours” or not?
It began with Ross Perot in the early 90’s and a few years later came across some websites (Dixie Daily News and WND – World Net Daily, Lew Rockwell etc.) Then picked up FOX News and the O’Reilly Factor and later liked Lou Dobbs better. Continued with Pat Buchanan for President in 2000.
The awakening really took off with Ron Paul 2007. That led me to websites like the Daily Paul, Zerohedge, Drudge Report, Infowars (Alex Jones Show), Catherine Austin Fitts, Krisanne Hall and many more. I came across you tube videos like Zeitgeist ( The Men Behind the Curtain ), All Wars are Banker Wars, The Obama Deception and more.
Then came across CTH and later jumped in on the Trump Train in 2016 . Throw in many Twitter accounts, and yes I was a Q follower from day 1.
There are many folks I paid attention to in all those years, and have moved on from many of them. Always trying to get myself in position to be closest to the real truth.
My awakening has been gradual. I grew up in a conservative home-my dad was a huge influence on me & my siblings. He was a democrat till McGovern came along. He would have loved President Trump. But I was always a staunch republican through my years. I grew up during Carter & witnessed that mess then the railroading of Nixon but didn’t really understand all of it. The Clintons opened my eyes. I watched the Inauguration- wanted to see what we were getting. I was horrified when I heard & saw Hillary scream at an assistant that “SOMEBODY SCREWED UP!” when they had the “open house” following the ceremony. I knew we were in trouble. I supported W as I had worked as a student volunteer for his Congressional campaign here in west Texas-thought he was a good guy. Then 9/11 happened & thePatriot Act, Homeland Security, & the TSA- all of which I detest. Then Obama came along. I knew the Media was liberal but I could not get over the fawning over him by everyone! At the time, I watched Good Morning America as I got ready for work. I became so disgusted with their coverage of the candidates that I turned them off. I couldn’t believe people in this country would vote for such an obvious fraud not once but twice. When Benghazi happened, I knew instantly that we were running guns in the ME all while the govt was doing its best to take ours away here. Other pieces began to fall into place-John Roberts being bought off to ok Obamacare, McConnell pledging to overturn it then revealing they didn’t have the votes…on & on. I found the Treehouse along the way & read The Benghazi Brief. Oh my. It took me a while to make it through but my eyes were wide open after that -and my loathing all all things Clinton solidified. But my biggest epiphany came in 2016 right as primary season was kicking off. I was leaving my house to go walk & I was talking to the Lord about who to vote for. I seriously thought it might be the first time I wasn’t going to vote. As I made my way down the list of candidates, I asked the Lord “what about this Trump guy? I really want to vote for a Christian, Lord” Immediately He answered me & said “I used Cyrus to set my people free & he was a pagan wasn’t he?” It was not the audible voice of the Lord but pretty close! From there I started paying close attention to all things Trump.
Thank you Sundance for all you do. I’ve learned so much here.
Upon returning to the US in 1991 after living overseas for 6 years. I was shocked and saddened by the decline in our culture. For me it was as though I was one of the frogs that jumped in the pot after it started to simmer. My global experience gave me a broader view of the trajectory of the future. Not only did I know more about other countries and cultures, but I cared more about their future as well. I was able to understand and accept that Americans can be viewed by others as arrogant and obnoxious in their push to make other cultures conform to what Hollywood and the secular cultural influencers are pushing globally. But what really made me question our two party system of government, that should provide some protection from creeping authoritarianism, was the 2008 election. When I heard that both parties agreed that the solution to the mortgage financial fiasco at the time was to bailout the financiers instead of the citizens, I began to see the reality that neither party is for We the People.
WTC-7. I obtained the 12-13th floor steel framing drawing (PDF). I plotted it on an Arch E size (36″ x 48″). It provides great context as to the complexity and robustness of the structure (47 stories with 82 columns). Buildings of such construction and size don’t collapse due to office furniture-fueled fires. (Girder A2001 has a bearing plate failure on column 79?) Now being retired – I research many subjects – we are being played and have been for many years.
Can you tell us what really happened to Bldg. 7?
Apparently, the goat herder’s engineers recognized that heated steel combined with massive weight overhead can and will collapse a building. Just out of curiosity, are you a flat Earther?
Robert, why would it matter if Papa is a” Flat earther” or no? Just asking.
Mine was mid-1970s. I was watching TV and a politician had just finished his speech. The talking head came on, with a sneer, dripping sarcasm said “Now I’m going to tell you what he said…”. I exploded at his arrogance; I then knew I was conservative.
“That’s Dan Rather, he’s going to tell everybody what Mr. Nixon just said.”
Eric Sevareid, remember him well!
As a previous democrat with the likes of Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton, we changed to the Republican Party. Ronald Reagan and we were happy with his toughness and love of our Constitution. Later on when the one appeared, (the Fundamentally Change America thing hit hard) we changed to the TEA Party. We had a large group in our area. Trump came on the scene and we changed back to the Republican Party. We were so glad to hear someone speak for “we the people”, “no more unnecessary wars” and with toughness to get it done! Too bad the evil ones hid in droves and schemed to bring him down! Very interesting ….why no one went to jail!!!!
During some of those years we discovered CTH. We were beginning to read about “The New World Order”! Decided this was not in keeping with our Constitution. Became skeptical when Covid broke through to our nation. Had our suspicions from the beginning as to where it came from! Carried on!
Then came all the evilness and stats of this past election and a many before. Now we look at the mess we are in! Border wide open, Inflation, wars, Socialism/Marxism! Our Republic is gone and our Constitution is tattered and torn. 😢
I am now watching and reading about the Green New Deal, New World Order, Climate Change, Republican Party, (especially the new House of Representatives elects, to see if they have any backbone) and praying for some sensibility for the next election.
Dear Lord I pray for this country. We cannot continued in the path we are on. I am 84 years old now. I surely pray I see some positive changes before I go on to meet the good Lord.
Lost my sweet, loving veteran husband in 2021 after 60 years married. I had been his caregiver for 20 years. A few years before Parkinson’s and dementia took him out, he was most concerned about our nation as well. God rest his soul!

When my husband and I were dating 37 years ago, I made a statement and he said, “where did you hear that?” I replied, “in the news” to which he said, “do you believe everything you hear in the news?” Since then, I (we) have been increasingly wary of the news and became big Rush Limbaugh fans. But it wasn’t until during and after the 2016 Election when I was in a conservative chat group on Facebook, and someone put in a link to The Conservative Treehouse. I started reading it daily. It was then that I really started seeing the true nature of what was happening. I started paying attention to everything President Trump was doing, and how the Democrats were trying to block everything he tried to do. Then it seemed I couldn’t get enough of all the information Sundance was writing about Flynn firing, Spygate, Crossfire Hurricane, Mueller and everything else. I continue to read and listen to other conservative publications and podcasts as well, rarely watch Fox News since election night of 2020, except Tucker, but CTH is my go-to for deep dives. And since I got involved with an Election Integrity project, my eyes have really opened wide! Thank you, Sundance and staff, for everything you do. If this Country is to be saved, and I pray it is, it will be largely because of you and your honest and thorough reporting. Keep praying for God’s great mercy and grace for this great Country, and the World.
