And this struck me forcibly yesterday when I heard Huckabee Sanders speak of how we were the free-est nation on earth…
I nearly died laughing.
Our freedom has been stolen, appropriated by both the elected (Congress) and the unelected (the regulatory state) in ways too numerous to count. And all by the back door… hidden in unread bills or buried deep by power mad apparatchiks within government agencies that bring the full force of the law down on those who unknowingly cross their red lines.
And the image that immediately crossed my mind was that of the enormous Gulliver, strong in his own right (Americans) roped and helpless by thousands upon thousands of tiny threads (the Marxist/Stalinist regulatory state and a complicit Congress).
That’s the metaphor for us.
We agreed to none of it. We weren’t even consulted. It was presented as a fait accompli…and boom! Freedom diminished and on its final journey to obliteration.
The most free nation on earth? It may be that, but we are still in no way free in the truest Constitutional definition of the word.

I have come to hate the word…especially when people like Tucker (who really should know better) use another word…”democratic” to refer to the Democrat party…in its place.
The problem with DeSantis is obvious. He wants it so badly that he’s willing to do the bidding of these people rather than be a good Governor, support Trump’s 2024 run and potentially have Trump support you for 2028, eliminating the need for the people currently behind him. Think about it, he’s been given an ultimatum… “It’s now or never, Ron. We support your run in every way now, or we never do and you’re political career is finished. We need you to take out Trump and his MAGA ilk.” And instead of Ron saying “pound sand” and waiting until 2028, he’s willing to go through with it. It must be an awful feeling to be beholden to so many people who have no interest in the American people, but instead continuing the illusion of choice for the plebes so you can maintain the status quo and your power and gravy train.
I think the unstated (or maybe stated) part of the proposition is “we’ll take care of Trump” -still a lot of game to play. They are devious though and machine and mail in voting changes everything. The Ds managed to do it in the primaries to Bernie-albeit he took a dive.
I’ve voted Republican forever. I’m done with them. I’ll vote for Trump even if he goes 3rd party. Anyone else running for president as a Republican will NOT get my vote. I’d honestly rather a Democrat get in there and kill America faster. Maybe then we could salvage the wreckage. I will vote locally for some Republicans, but I’ll never cast another vote for a RINO.

As a Floridian, I’ve been suspicious of DeSantis’s motives for nearly two years. That suspicion has only grown over time, and by the midterms it had reached a point that I couldn’t bring myself vote for his re-election.
When I walked out of that voting booth, I was questioning whether I’d made the right decision. DeSantis’ post-midterm behavior demonstrates that I had.
To clairfy, I did NOT vote for Charlie Crist. I voted for the Libertarian candidate, Hector Roos, who by the way was the ONLY candidate to call out DeSantis for lying about his record on lockdowns and mask/vaccine mandates.
I know how you feel,when Ron lived here in Ponte Vedra Beach his first term in Congress I was a big supporter. In 2016 we where rezoned and I am not sure but he moved further south and I got stuck with Rutherford. I was always hoping he would follow in President Trumps footsteps after he retired, what a shame.

I really get upset with some of the conservative websites stating for Trump to hand down the torch. They don’t say to Ron, but that’s what they mean.
Trump stated that he is running for President in 2024.

I was for Desantis as an ally of Trump and even as a back up to Trump. I agreed with a number of his policies. But seeing him in the pocket of the donors who are against Trump is turning me off. My problem is thatin spite of his great achievements Trump was ineffective in fighting the deep state while president and needs a network of allies to succeed in the future. They tied his hands and succeeded in harassing him into immobility. Perhaps Trump knows that, which may be why he compromised on the speaker. In any case I dont want to go backwards into this uniparty den of iniquity.

Well, the primary season will be a good test of how well prepared the GOPe is for the November election. Can they manufacture enough phony ballots in the primary states to defeat Trump? If they can, then they will be able to give the Dem ballot harvesting operation a run for its money come November.
But if, as I expect, Trump prevails, then the Democrat candidate should win easily because what happened in Arizona and Georgia to Trump, Lake and Walker 1n 2020 and 2022 will be repeated. And, of course, we know that under no circumstances will Bernie Sanders be allowed to win the Dem nomination.
I will be shocked if, during the balance of my lifetime, a genuinely popular candidate ever wins the nomination in either party. Personally, I think it would be fascinating if Trump and Sanders teamed up in ’24 and ran a third party operation. Alone, neither could win, but together I would expect them to cruise to a landslide victory.
