The office of New York Attorney General Letitia James released footage on Tuesday of the deposition of former President Donald Trump. The video was intended to create a narrative as President Trump repeatedly invoked privileges under the fifth amendment against self-incrimination. However, if you watch the introductory part of the deposition, to include the statements from the office of the AG, you get a real sense of how this witch hunt is being conducted.
President Trump’s deposition took place on August 10, 2022. The issue is AG James using the process of a civil fraud investigation to construct a criminal case against Donald J. Trump. Unfortunately for Ms. James, you do not have to be a lawyer to see the “set up” nature of the lawfare as it is being conducted. Just listen to the qualifiers put into place by the Attorney General office.
Pay close attention to the preliminary procedural explanations and questions from state Attorney General Letitia James. That is the set up, technically and legally explained by the New York AG herself. Once you see that part, you realize no one in their right mind would answer any questions from this “investigative inquiry”. After a few minutes, President Trump -together with his lawyer- reads a statement, then repeatedly takes the Fifth Amendment. WATCH:

In fact he stated clearly in his opening statement that this was a perjury trap and that was the reason he was invoking his rights. .. with the NY AG attempting to gather to either: statements contradicting something said earlier or statements that would be used to prove later testimony was a lie.
Interesting was the opening statement (warning) by the I/T Company supporting the deposition:

The AG also forbade notes and/or recordings being taken. In other words, NO EVIDENCE exists other than what is on this video as to the content of the deposition and that President Trump had NO right to the full transcript.
The AG stated the this deposition was “NOT a NORMAL CIVIL Deposition”. What did that mean?? She never explained it.
The AG clearly used the term “criminal”more than a few times while discussing the testimony to be gathered. Clearly meaning that the purpose of the deposition was to gather evidence for Civil and well as Criminal actin by the NY AG.

I watched the entire thing last night on youtube. The first question that came to mind is why am I even seeing this when they told President Trump how it was illegal for it to be shared, copied, or verbally transmitted, or even notes taken.
And THEY release it!! Why forbid the defendant to release, if the prosecutors are simply going to turn around and release?

Next alert is the obvious entrapment nature of the questions, particularly those targeting assumptions a person might use to personally determine values of properties. Lawfare is a cruel and heartless means of ruining people. Former President Trump and his family may be able to pay for expensive legal assistance and may also be able to weather the time required to prepare for, travel to and participate in these legal proceedings. However, many of those who were associated with his administration were sorely pressed to do so.
I can see how we, as normal citizens, would be railroaded into civil/criminal proceedings with no recourse but to submit to their unwarranted punishments meted out by completely biased prosecutors, AG’s and judges.

For the most part, if they are working in government and collecting a paycheck, and benefits, it’s usually because they cannot make it on their own in the real world.
I helped a young , upcoming attorney win a DA’s job and regret it to this day. He had a private office and worked part-time for another county at the time.
