The tenth round of ballot counting continues in the House chamber. However, it looks like an 11th ballot will be necessary as Kevin McCarthy has failed, yet again, to gain the support of 21 House Republican holdouts.
Inside the beltway rumors have surfaced that after the 9th failed attempt, groundhog McCarthy exited the chambers, stepped outside, saw his shadow and thus predicted another six weeks of ballot counting was likely. As noted by Politico, “the California Republican fell short in his bid for the speaker’s gavel in seventh, eighth, ninth, and now tenth ballots — a history-making stalemate that has paralyzed the party’s new majority.”

GOP leadership is mulling trying to adjourn the chamber to give McCarthy more time to hold meetings and solidify a deal that they hope will win him the speaker’s gavel. But such a move would require help from Democrats or near unimity from Republicans, who only narrowly won an unruly vote Wednesday to adjourn for the night.
And Republicans are still trying to figure out if the glimmers of hope over the potential deal are just a mirage. Reminds me of my ex who would never believe that he wasn’t right about everything and was determined to talk you into his way of thinking. If the stalemate is still the result of McCarthy unwilling to commit to supporting magahood candidates, then let it continue. We have rumors about three at least trying to negotiate something. But who knows what is really in play and at stake here. The holdouts are perhaps not being clear and loud enough about what it is they are holding out for. If it is simply a different speaker, things are likely to devolve. If it is something tangible for the benefit of America then hold out forever but, communicate what it is or else the media will paint the party as hopelessly inept and unable to govern etc etc and likely be successful doing it.
I think will be pretty difficult to hold an RNC meeting where Ronna McDaniel gets another 4 years, if all the RNC delegates are too busy to rubberstamp her position.

We must change how Congress works in order to save our republic.

Just sent a scathing email to Rep Greg Steube who is in the Freedom Caucus but still voting for McCarthy. Told him he voted for the RINO eleven times and lost eleven times so he lost my vote but if he comes to his senses and changes his vote then all can be forgiven.

McCarthy has already shown he doesn’t have what is needed to be speaker. Pelosi would have never gone to the floor without having the votes sewn up. History: Twelve years ago (2010), the leaderless Tea Party handed the Republicans the House, believing the GOP would keep their word and stop the tax and spend. Did they?

Did they send Obama any bills? No. They carped he’d only veto them, anyway. They needed the Presidency.

I have to believe the GOP is salvageable. I center right party will always have a ‘Conservative’ coalition. I am surprised they have finally figured it out. Human nature is center right, ‘Conservatism’ well articulated will always resonate with the masses. Many years ago my wife’s company (small technical recruiting firm) was invited to the 100 Black Men convention (an evening dinner with presenters). The first presenter was a young woman and she sang the praises of black victimhood and she got her fair share of ‘you go girls’, another similar speaker and the same response. I am thinking to myself –this is gonna be a long night for us crackers sitting at our token table. Well the last speaker was a gentleman that wrote a book called ‘What is Greatness, What is Success’. He explained how he’d interviewed famous folks and very successful businessmen and women. He articulated in a good old fashion black preachers sermon (he was excellent btw). What he stated was that ‘Greatness and Success’ comes from hard work, it is color blind, it requires pulling yourself up by your boot straps and believing in your God given gift called the human brain. I kid you not there wasn’t a silent voice in the house, it was a standing ovation speech and resounding hell ya I can accomplish anything I want –if I put my mind to it. We humans are center right in our nature. Its in our DNA and the left can never have what conservatives have, which is fundamental human truth on our side. We are the belief system that is in line with human nature. So this gang of 20 should never relinquish the torch of human nature and our founding principles. They will always be able to lead the GOP into the light and away from the powers of darkness, despair and control.
I wish you were right, but your post said the dinner was “many years ago”. Your excellent speaker’s vision has not transpired.

Yes!! If we had just quietly voted for KMc then “business as usual” would have occurred and the people who are too busy or don’t care would not be aware of the garbage coming out of the House. Every day, Hannity and all are screaming about how the sky is falling. That makes people look up and see that he is lying, the RINOs are lying, and the sky is not, actually, falling.
