One thing I dislike immensely about Republican punditry, specifically as it relates to internal dynamics, is their tribal narrative engineering. The example from Breitbart about President Trump’s discussion of the next Speaker of the House is a case study.
Take out Matthew Boyle’s woven narrative; and remind yourself that Boyle is writing from a position of DeSantis advocacy; read just the direct quotes from President Trump about the risk of House Speaker if the party doesn’t align to support Kevin McCarthy, and the position is pragmatic.
Essentially, if not Kevin McCarthy, and the House vote is dependent on Democrat support, the result will likely be worse.
Just the Trump quotes: “I think it’s a very dangerous game that’s being played,” Trump said. “It’s a very dangerous game. Some bad things could happen. Look, we had Boehner and he was a strange person but we ended up with Paul Ryan who was ten times worse. Paul Ryan was an incompetent speaker. I think he goes down as the worst speaker in history. We took [out] Boehner—and a group of people, some of whom are the same, and they’re very good friends of mine. All those people are very good friends of mine.”
[…] ““Think of it—we ended up with Paul Ryan. Boehner was like Winston Churchill compared to Paul Ryan,” Trump said. “Boehner wasn’t perfect—nobody’s perfect—but Paul Ryan was a disaster for the Republican Party. That’s what we got. Now we have to live with him. He’s destroying Fox and he’s destroying the New York Post. We got to live with this maniac. This guy, Paul Ryan, couldn’t have gotten elected in his own area of Wisconsin. I went with him after I won the election and we had a tremendous crowd of people and they booed him off the stage. You remember that? They booed him off the stage. This guy is now telling Fox what to do.”
[…] “Look, I think this: Kevin has worked very hard,” Trump said. “He is just—it’s been exhausting. If you think, he’s been all over. I think he deserves the shot. Hopefully he’s going to be very strong and going to be very good and he’s going to do what everybody wants.”
[…] “Now, I’m friendly with a lot of those people who are against Kevin. I think almost every one of them are very much inclined toward Trump, and me toward them. But I have to tell them, and I have told them, you’re playing a very dangerous game,” Trump said. “You could end up with the worse situation. I don’t even want to say what it is, but I could tell you it’s a worse situation. You could end up with some very bad situations. I use the Boehner to Paul Ryan example. You understand what I’m saying? It could be a doomsday scenario. It could be. You could end up with somebody who would be a disaster like Paul Ryan was.” (LINK)
I see absolutely nothing ‘controversial’ in those statements.
President Trump is correct. The conservative House took down John Boehner, the creepy and emotionally unstable 60-year-old sitting at the end of the bar who hits on your 21-year-old daughter. What came next was Paul Ryan, the current brother-in-law to radical SCOTUS Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, and the Wisconsin politician married to a Democrat lobbyist.
Ryan then blocked any effort to hold the FBI accountable for their role in the 2016 election and the promotion of Russiagate. Then followed that obstruction with an intentional effort to lose the 2018 midterm election, while announcing his own resignation.
Kevin McCarthy might suck, but at least he sucks in a controlled environment.
I’m not a fan of Kevin McCarthy, few would dislike him more than I; however, in the final analysis who else has put their name in the hat and is going to -or could- get the entire Republican caucus on their side?
The GOP only has a five-vote House margin.
It takes a simple majority to confirm the House Speaker.
What other method, candidate, representative or alternative position is there to take?
A little backtracking in the name of accepting the lessor of the two evils is refreshing to read. A lot of us became Trump supporters, not because we thought he would be a great President, but because he was obviously the lessor of the two evils. A great thing happened because of millions of voters who also voted this way.
Donald J Trump became a very good President because he governed by using common sense and a will to do whatever he promised before the election. This is one of those moments that will actually benefit Donald Trump and those of us, who just can’t lose the fanatical idea that any issue we may have with Trump is an indicator that we cannot be trusted to support him.
Our Constitution was written to constrain all parties to the Government power structure, and Kevin McCarthy may benefit greatly from knowing that President Trump may have been the push that got him across the finish line to the Speaker’s office. We shouldn’t trust McCarthy more than we ever have, but Trump has put us in a better spot to accept the realities of our situation.
i’ll go w/ the “no trust”part
it’s all i have left after these last few years.
aside from that?
nothing
I’m pleased you qualified you remarks and didn’t try to speak for all of us.
So many do…
I saw DJT from the get go as a potentially Great President.
A MAN who gets things done in a town where nothing useful ever gets done!
.
Unfortunately he as pulled down by the jackals
However he’s a lion, so if pulled down by jackals they’re the ones in danger, not an apex predator like Trump.
Some may mistake the fact that at times the jackal may survive its encounter for weakness on the lions part. However, its a huuuge mistake for both jackals and safari tourists to forget the lions lethality.
Christofer Walkens famous warning monologue about hyenas and jackals messing with the lion comes to mind. Dan Scavino has post the clip several times lately. Warning sent. Warning heeded?
Ditto here, I didn’t pick Trump because I saw him as the ‘lesser of two evil’. I believed in what he could do. I am so sick of just making do with the evil picks put before us. I don’t think I can condone it anymore. I stand with Joshua and Caleb.
Ah, Joshua and Caleb. Two men of great faith and BACKBONES of steel! Good call!
For decades I thought we needed a successful business man in the Oval Office, not a politician. I saw Trump on several talk shows over the years and he talked about relevant topics: closing the southern border, tariffs, getting rid of the Central Bank, etc. I was so happy when he threw his hat in the ring!
Too bad DC is full of corruption because he was doing great things.
What we need in the oval office IS a businessman! Is not the US government not actually the world’s largest business?
So did I. Trump was the man for me from day one. I knew he would be good but he wound up being even better than I thought.
Trump was never the lesser of two evils, we knew that when he ran. He has always been FOR AMERICA….he threatens evil. He was a great president..way over a good president.
Pulled down by the jackals because that was the plan and TRUMP knows it. Supporting McCarthy is another TRUMP personnel pick that will cost him. BUT he knows that and that is part of the UNIPARTY plan. TRUMP keeps giving the Conservatives and MAGA people in the RINO Party HOPE. By doing that they will not go out and form a opposition party and all by design. BIGGEST threat to the UNIPARTY was the Tea Party UNTIL THE LEADERS GOT COMPROMISED. They the UNIPARTY , KNOWS THEY COULD BE TAKEN OUT Fast if the people every wake up and form any type of opposition to the UNIPARTY, So far they are winning but a few cracks are starting to appear,
He was a great President because he didn’t act based on who he owed something to. With a few exceptions such as “criminal justice reform”, he governed to make the country a better place.
He was not the lesser of two evils. Listen to his West Palm address. He was saying what has needed saying for a long time.
I do not always understand my PRESIDENT!
After being backstabbed by McCarthy, the rinos and the GOPe for the past 6+ years, I am DONE with both of them!
From McCarthy’s questionable living arrangements, to his support for the failed Mueller coup, to his advocating for PRESIDENT TRUMP’S unconditional surrender in 2020 to his allowing the J 6 committee to exist without daily press events to remind the public that the committee is unconstitutional, to withholding committee assignments for members of his OWN party? To his support for continuing resolutions to let’s face it, I could keep my list of reasonable objections going all day.
McCarthy didn’t support MAGA to begin with, he doesn’t support MAGA now, and he won’t support MAGA in 2024.
If we NEVER stop holding our noses when we are presented with flawed choices that are always designed to give the establishment more power, why would we expect our agenda will have better outcomes this time or next time than we’ve had for the last 40 yrs?
Get involved at the local level so we can have better choices going forward. Right now that swamp is so putrid that we have to hold our noses, and that’s not going to change overnight.
No. “get involved” in what?
Vote theft?
Ballot harvest?
Line up for a vaccine?
Protest?
Write another letter?
Vote some more and vote for sheriffs that force you with guns to pay for:
fbi
and governors like Hobbs to tear down borders
Faucci
The swamp is not fixable with politics alone.
#1 arrests at local level… maybe a start.
!! Never forget:
The militia is IN the constitution!
The GOP is NOT in.
Your taxes and your consent enables it all–fbi lawlessness, J6, Trump impeachment, Biden in office after steal.
This goes way beyond McCarthy.
reread para 2 of dec of Ind. Then lets talk.
I agree with Judith. Get involved locally and accept that 2023 is the year to rebuild the party from the ground up. Attend several different Republican clubs and let them know the silos they represent will fail without the support of other Republican clubs.
I will work like my life depends on it because it just may.
While I agree with grass roots activism, please keep in mind that the border is wide open and your/my replacement are already here. You are building a house on shifting soil.
I’d call it quicksand, myself.
Some people when they realize they’re on the precipice decide to fight others decide to give up and jump.
“The Last of the Mohicans” climactic scene has a famous music clip, “The Promontary”. The music underscores the tragic consequences when someone gives up hope and gives up rather than fighting despite seemingly overwhelming odds.
With God ALL things are possible.
And you will learn what do many of us already know, you can not change this through the Republican party.
It’s a private NGO that you can not influence.
I have heard that before. If you are telling me to quit, save your energy.
no one said ‘quit’ – just stop doing the same thing over and over. think outside the box.
We won’t EVER vote our way out of this!
disagree. I will continue to fight, but going that way has gotten nothing.
Good and continue sarasotosfan… God be with you….
You’ll only ever be able to (in the long term) or continue to “do politics” because some will protect your rights physically when necessary.
Don’t get in my way, or others like me, if you ever want to “do politics”.
Think about supporting me/Trump/others like us in active defense of your rights because the alternative (get involved) sucks at the moment.
There is no “get involved” that matters at this point.
https://theprecinctstrategy.com.
This is one of many ways to “get involved”; one linked by President Trump who asked everyone to pitch in.
Saving ourselves from the psychopaths who have been infiltrating America for decades is not a sprint but rather a series of marathons.
Pacing and grit are important. So are prayers.
already done. SAME results.
Everything you have said is true enough.
Now the real issue that no one will speak:
We are out of time to reform the Republican Party. We are out of time. They set a snare that took us too long to see and to few to see it. McCarthy will indeed spring it upon us.
Are you not seeing the chains coming down upon the rest of the 5 eyes nations as I write this? Do we think it will not happen to us??
Separation out of that party into a new party with the power of We The People and the donations from its memebers is what can stop this malfeasance in its tracks.
Do you really think men like Ken Griffin will continue to pour millions into a Republican candidate when there are few registered republicans? There would be no return on investment.
Breaking away to stop the feedback loop is what we need to do right now.
God bless.
Every point you make is valid. It is a very long train of abuses. And yes, the Founders gave the remedy…….alter, abolish, form new government.
Been there. Did that within the Republican Party. I’m now an Independent. The Republican Party is beyond repair.
No. “get involved” in what?
You could run for delegate for your states republican state central committee who get to vote on who the state GOP leaders are. You could also become a precinct leader with voting rights for your districts and state candidates. You could also get on your local districts rules committee like I did.
Just sayin.
Oh Please! Voting, organizing, bitching won’t get us anywhere. Money and power is what’s going to change things and voting is rigged from the top down.
Vote HARDER 2Zymos!
If I hear one more “playing-by-the-rules-even-if-they-don’t” plea to GetOutAndVote!!1! I might just toss chunks.
And what good is achieved by stirring the grass roots for City Councilman when the state machine has decided the races that matter before the Fourth of July? Well, it might make you get all tingly because you are “doing something”, but you are only making yourselves feel good. While the enemy is laughing at you.
We are losing. Not because we have inferior ideas, but because we are fighting emotion with logic, fighting with reason against low IQ paid voters and swarms of them. Losing because our national leadership WANTS us to lose.
Paragraph 2, the consent of the governed. They, the elites, do not have it. Votes don’t matter, and we are not represented. What now?
We cant control the GOPe.
They don’t HEAR us anymore.
We need a MAGA party!
We have to realize that, as smart as we all are, Trump is smarter – and more knowledgeable about real world politics. He has lived it for years. We have been fooled so many times by these traitors because we cannot know the real circumstances – as Trump does.
No one is perfect, not even Trump. His blind spot is selecting lieutenants and in the end it may be his downfall.
Who is more perfect than Trump for this mission? No one is more perfect. No one comes close.
“His blindspot” == proof of his creative genius. He gets so much out of what’s available. Even those who seek to harm him turn out to help him in the end.
God bless him.
He’s had 2 years to analyze all those whoe thwarted him and betrayed him while in office. He will make different choices if there are even any patriots willing to fight with him. His choices are somewhat limited, I would think.
Is he so smart, that he can choose people that don’t exist in the malignant permanent DC? Moving the seat of govt our of DC and eliminating– and I use that word purposefully– the filth in DC is the only way our Nation survives as a Republic.
He hasn’t ‘lived it for years’ – he stepped into a cesspool thinking that, and quickly found out differently. He has TIME AND AGAIN picked backstabbers. I don’t let him do my thinking. I side with him, and will vote for him (unless he goes totally rogue), but I make my own decisions.
Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.
Trump is pretty smart, but got played and robbed from a 2nd term by the same idiots he’s still endorsing. The states made the FED, the states need to destroy it.
Judith you are correct but not within the Republican party… A succession movement is required.
This country and it’s government will not be changed by elections and present day political parties.
It will come from the outside.
Already done. totally blocked by the establishment RINOs already in power. of the same ilk as McCarthy. we watched the same bull happen during the primary election – fought it up to (our $) paid-for audit, with NO results. Watched a totally corrupt (R) sheriff candidate PAY FOR names to get on the petition – took it to court – NOTHING. The system is past ‘broke’. Time for God’s Hand to move.
I send good candidates to Washington only to watch them quickly change when they are secretly leveraged by the swamp with damaging information that may or may not be true.
We’re on a path to stop having to hold our noses.
One of the untold outcomes of the Midterms is the GOP House caucus seismic shift towards MAGA.
I think it was MTG who said the Midterms turned the GOP Caucus 50% MAGA. We need to stay hyperfocused on the primaries until we get to 218 MAGA reps.
if this really true WHY do we have to have McRino???
Here’s my understanding of why:
In January there will be a vote for Speaker. Both Dems and Repubs vote for Speaker. That means all 435 members (R and D) vote. A majority vote is needed to elect the Speaker.
————————
Matt Gaetz and Andy Biggs are playing a game of chicken hoping that when McCarthy loses the first round of voting due to the five reps refusing to vote for him —that another candidate will emerge that the entire caucus would like better than McCarthy. But so far, they have not yet found such a candidate.
thanks Sunrei for the great explanation!!! appreciate it!
President Trump was willing to play the same game when the Democrats had a slim majority in 2018 but were going through a civil war between Establishment and Progressive Democrats.
Once again, Trumps offering real life civics lessons for free.
How many emotionals raging about Trump right now are even aware that Democrats can vote for the Republican speaker too? How many are aware that there aren’t enough MAGA Republican votes yet to get anyone they’d like?
Are they the same people who STILL don’t realize that President Trump couldn’t hire his administration including his Department heads?
Presidents can only hire their personal staff. Everyone else has to be hired by the Senate.
“OMG why didn’t Trump hire MAGA patriots to head the FBI, DOJ, CIA etc.”. “OMG Trump has such terrible judgement. Everyone hired was a Swamp rat”.
Shocker. The Swamp Guardian Senate hired Swamp guys. Especially when they had Trump under investigation for 2 plus years as a possible traitor installed by Putin.
“Once again, Trumps offering real life civics lessons for free.”
Or, he is saying the same thing he always says… Vote Republican.
Do you believe or NOT believe that its possible to have a Democrat House Speaker win?
I believe there is no real difference between a Democrat House Speaker and McCarthy.
one full in the open, one dragging its feet in exposing themselves
think about it.
So it’s a subtle difference. They are the same, only one is stealth.
You’re right. The swamp still controls the senate, and Paul Ryan swamp controlled the house. This time around Paul Ryan endorsed Kevin McCarthy is trying to control the house. See a problem for Americas first voters?
Now that PDJT has publicly out this game of chicken, if Gaetz and/or Biggs don’t vote for McCarthy and a Dem ends up speaks, they will have a lot to lose n their personal careers. They will be begged just as badly as the R impeachers.
I don’t believe half are MAGA. Truly I don’t.
Then come out and name the 20 or so Republicans who will vote Democrat. She is a stone cold liar. Yea right. Republicans hate McCarthy so much they will vote for Hakeem Jeffries. And she is a congressional whore. You’ll see soon enough who she sold out to. Show me the NAMES!!!!
Those who are involved in the GOP precincts year round hold the keys to the primaries. Typically, voters choose from the candidates who the local/county and state GOP finds and encourages to run.
https://theprecinctstrategy.com.
You keep saying that, and once upon a time it would work. not in some states. sorry I am a precinct delegate AS WE SPEAK, but when I got in there – it was a small ‘pond-version’ of the DC swamp.
MAGA is already split right in half and will cease to exist in the next two years… It was designed, like the Tea Party to be a temporary political talking point with a useful life of 8-10 years.
Don’t believe me? Read though the comment section of places like CFP.
Every 10-12 years they redevelope and redeploy a new Goldwater, Reagan, Tea Party, MAGA. Social political commentary aside, in six decades of that game you have the federal government winning 1000:1.
We need to stay hyperfocused on the primaries until we get to 218 MAGA reps.
Amen, Sunrei. We need to primary as many RINOs as possible each election.
And who is your alternative choice who has any chance of winning the position?
Yep. You nailed it. For some folks Trump can never be wrong about anything. I hold no human up as being perfect. NOT a single one, and certainly not me. Sooner or later, and I now think it is getting closer to sooner rather than later, folks are going to quit holding their noses to vote for the person that stinks the least. They are just going to avoid the stink. The more eyes that are opened, the sooner that is going to happen and more eyes are being opened daily.
Well, I know one human who was perfect. And another one who came before was darn-near perfect.
Statement: No one is perfect. True.
Hence ALL candidates will always be imperfect but one will be elected.
Conclusion: No more voting for the “lesser of two evils” ie the least imperfect candidate.
Huh????
PDJT is your ticket to sneak to Jan 2024 under the guise of campaigning.
view through that lens and it will help him
United we stand
Divided we fall
Generally speaking, yes. Do you know what happens when you embrace a leper?
The same thing that happens if you dont embrace the leper. You die.
However, if death isn’t fatal…..
Relevance to the decision for Speaker which is outside of our control except for our reaction?
Personally, I’m choosing to embrace President Trumps choice and to pray for all involved.
I have, in the past, fallen for that 3D chess nonsense, and overdosed on hopium. No more.
While I have enormous respect for the fortitude/b@lls that President Trump has, he has to deal with the hand that will always be dealt in Permanent DC. The game is rigged. He has to make the best choices among rancid players.
Alright, I am going to say it: please tell me why I should believe that THIS time it will be different from every other time when NOTHING has changed? This is a fool’s errand.
“NOTHING has changed”.
Fortunately that is totally NOT true. Thank God.
you still haven’t told us anything.
is Falling Against it, any better than Falling For it.
case by case it.
George, do you expect to achieve a total win or perfection in just one or two elections? This is a long war. We are making incremental improvements. We won the House, Cheney was primaried, and there were other good things that happened this year. We have to keep working to make more improvements.
Romney is up for re-election in 2024, McConnell and a bunch of other RINOs are up in 2026. We need to pressure the people in those states to primary the RINOs. Imagine a Senate without McConnell!
In my experience, getting all jazzed up and voting harder given the rigged election process hasn’t been very successful. How many times do we pick ourselves up and say, hey we will get change in the NEXT election? Am I the only one that feels that we will never vote our way out of this mess? There is only one way to stop this pernicious disease of permanent govt.
Thank God President Trump has the self discipline to remain FOCUSED on winning our “victory or perish” war with the global psychopaths rather than getting seduced by the Swamps latest drama distraction.
I appreciate his Realpolitik pragmatism and unshakeable spirit and drive.
Often sneks, especially sneks like McCarthy, can be far more useful than allies. This is especially true for an experienced snek handler like Trump who knows exactly what kind of snek Kevin is.
Kevin will be in a primary race in two years when Trump will also be running. Time flies. Hopefully Kevin will pleasantly surprise Trumps House allies and supporters. Otherwise Kevin will be Trumps Liz Cheney 2.0. And Kevin, knows it.
Yea right. McCarthy owns California. McCarthy was not only absent back in 2020 regarding certification, and anomalies, he is openly “caught” saying he was going to ask Trump to resign Ala Nixon. Then denies it. And this is a guy Trump “likes” Good Grief! What was the deal he made with the swamp. McCarthy, Romney, McConnell, and so on. Matt Gaetz and his friends have stood strong. Fix that rigged fraud you call an election or go quietly off to fight another day. Lie to me and see how far my loyalty goes.
You are presuming that after the next two years of Pelosi running Congress being Speaker behind the scenes and a RINO with no balls as public “Speaker” there will be a country or elections.
Think about it. How has Trump exposed every on of the people who are trying to destroy our Republic. He is either straight up saying this guy is the lesser of two evils, or he is setting another chump up for the fall. Either way, my President, right or wrong.
He is still my president – but he is NOT infallible in his choices.
Sundance wrote:

It’s extremely important to understand this. Trump is playing the strategic game, this is what we all need to do. We are not going to have perfection. We are not going to have a MAGA Speaker. Accept this and understand the best person is likely McCarthy.
Trump played a strategic game in 2020…and lost the game. You can’t win against the house in a rigged game.
Mike, it’s not really about McCarthy. Read again what Sundance wrote:
Essentially, if not Kevin McCarthy, and the House vote is dependent on Democrat support, the result will likely be worse.
The entire House votes for the Speaker. The GOP has (or will have when the new session starts) only a 5 seat lead. If 5 GOP Representatives refuse to vote for McCarthy and they side with Dems, we actually could end up with a Dem Speaker. Yes, that could actually happen. Or those 5 GOP Reps and the Dems choose some GOP Rep way worse than McCarthy.
This is akin to voting strategically. Sometimes you have to just hold your nose and choose the least worse thing.
The problem is who is the alternative?
If the GOP can’t elect a Speaker the Dems can try, and they will vote in one bloc, and have a couple of RINO votes too to put them over the top. No other Republican wants the job, none of the five holdouts wants the job, and they have offered no one else for Speaker.
Most probably remember what happened to Paul Ryan, who reluctantly took the job and became the most hated Republican speaker ever.
What is your solution? Pelois? AOC? Omar? Another Boehner hugging Pelois and crying?
You can hate Pelois, but you can’t deny she controlled the House Dems 100%.
Name a Republican that can do that? The GOP party is to fractured, and loves harming itself.
Trump cut a deal with McCarthy. That is obvious to me. The problem is that you cannot beat something with nothing. Andy Biggs has 5 firm votes and possibly 30 more? RINOS and moderates won’t vote for him. You won’t get close to 218.
Failure to have lawful elections results in failure at “speaker time”.
There is no “pretending” left.
We do not have the results we elected in House seats or in WH.
Bottom line — we cannot do “politics” to fix criminal and battlefield aggression AGAINST us.
Trump in WH now.
New elections NOW.
Hobbs in Jail NOW (as an example for the rest)
Fauci awaiting Trial NOW.
Nothing less.
And… you know what it takes to “get er done” too.
100 million guns were bought all the way back in bambams time in office — we knew then what it meant for him to be “elected”.
Articles here on CTH about Tucker confirming “inside actions” by CIA in JFK coup.
We
Know
I could care less about McCarthy going down or Trumps endorsement (and I respect Trump and want him, as rightfully the winner, to be running things with a legit house absent rino vote thieves).
“Stuff” is going to break before we get better. Why wait to break it later?
Trump’s plans can handle some law enforcement activity by the militia.
he’s been doing things behind the scenes for a long time and telling us to just go along. sorry, most people don’t “get” his coded talk, as a result, many died. He needs to talk plain, else I don’t trust him. God – alone – is the one I trust without question.
Sorry. McCarthy will be a disaster. As Speaker before, Dems ran all over him. We need a battlefield General as Speakee. He ain’t it.
always presuming the lesser of two evils has gotten us into the mess we are now.
with McCarthy as Speaker, it will be just like Pelosi is still Speaker, and the Dems will still control Congress (since McCarthy has balls the size of peas). Personally, I’d like to think we will actually still have a country in 2024.. with :cCarthy as Speaker our days are numbered.
And who is your alternative choice who has any chance of winning?
If chance of winning is now the measure of who is acceptable, and not who is best for We The People, we might as well have Pelosi again. It’s not like anything will be different under McCarthy, other than the support and good will Trump and MAGA gained for the Republicans will have evaporated. Independents such as myself will write in our votes or not vote at all (I’ll write in my vote, including for President). Look at the backlash MTG has taken, and it will be reflected when she runs again in two years. Her individual fund raising will be down substantially (I’ll never donate to her again already). When the economy is worse, and we are in the depths of a depression, is McCarthy the guy you think will be an adequate backstop to stop the bleeding?
Trump isn’t worrying about where his next meal is coming from, or whether he can make his mortgage payment. When McCarthy has rolled over for the next two years, while the Dems further their communistic drive, the Dems will point to the destruction that occurs in the next two years as the fault of the Republicans (rightfully so, since they’ll allow it in the name of “bipartisanship”). And Trump will have bled alot of his support for his run for President.
Have a digital Snickers dear Nostradoomer. Hopefully common sense, American grit and determination returns quickly. 😘
See Arizona, Georgia, Pennsylvania and many other places where voter fraud is now instilled.
“Hopefully” isn’t a plan to stake our future on.
Hopefully is all we have.
PDJT is worring about his next meal and place to sleep at.
He and his Family are being hunted by the Federal Kingdom for incarceration and extermination – so that none raise they head again in the same manner.
Hardly. I don’t think he spends a waking moment worrying about what he knows will occur. If they do something this foolish (and I believe they are scared enough by Trump to do anything), he has the money at least to defend himself. See Jan 6 prisoners rotting in jail for what the rest of us can expect.
They can’t jail all of us!
If chance of winning is now the measure of who is acceptable, and not who is best for We The People, we might as well have Pelosi again. He doesn’t have to have an alternative to know that Frank Luntz’s, errr, roommate will be a disaster. The two are mutually exclusive.
McCarthy was never Speaker? Majority leader under Boehner and Ryan, Minority leader under Pelosi. But considering the close R/D balance in the next Congress, it’s going to take great skill to maneuver a majority. Have no idea if he’s up to it. The skill of Pelosi was to keep the far left like AOC in line with her more corporate positions. But it isn’t a question of “battlefield general”. More like a Machiavelli.
i stand corrected. All of the ineffective Republican House Leadership blurs together into a useless blob. He has been useless as House Minority Leader. He couldn’t even stop Republicans from voting for the latest screw America bill the House just passed.
his own conference doesn’t even respect him.
He was minority speaker.
Each house elects a majority and a minority speaker.
Point being-
People are use to reporting into McCarthy. maybe that pipeline is more beneficial then restarting a new bribing network to get wants back in order.
When was he Speaker before?
McCarthy has balls? Who knew?
Jim Jordan. I’d take the chance of doing worse before McCarthy. And if a Dem becomes Speaker that is on the RINOs and the America First Republicans who are paid to do their job will work a little harder while the Dems further expose themselves and set up 2024 to finally deliver the Red Wave we are working for.
Let Democrats control who picks the heads of committees, what’s investigated and has control of all the $$$???
As President Trump said, a dangerous and destructive game; a game played by those intoxicated by emotional poisons.
Give me an instance where an investigation by the House led to anything that mattered.
The combined stench of sodomy, incest and nepotism emanating from Washington D.C. fouls the moral atmosphere of the whole earth. D.C. needs cleaning out in ways that require the fortitude of an honorable, genuinely God-fearing military order. Does such an order still exist in the U.S. of A.? Or are they all atheists and pagans now?

The “Remove the McRepublican” movement within the republican party is going to end up like the “red wave”. The only McRepublican that looks like she’s in any kind of danger is Romney’s big spending niece at the RNC. And even she’s trying to keep the vote private and “in house” where she’s already got to vote won.
Unless republicans make changes and do something different, two years from now we’ll get the same results we’ve gotten since this version of McRepublican leadership began running the show in 2018. Underperformance by republicans and democrats winning on the “At least I’m not the republican!” platform like Fetterman just did.
It sounds as if you are unaware that the vote is completely rigged.
Boner and the traitor Ryan are are the antithesis of a free America and all Real Republicans!
President Trump in the White House is the one who will deal directly with McCarthy, not me, not you, not any of the “purists”at CTH complaining about holding their nose.
If President Trump says McCarthy, that’s the way to go.
Trump is not in office.
“Trumps not in office”.
He’s in Americas official Winter White House at Mar a Lago.
LOL! In other words, Mr. Irrelevant right now.
Sarasotafan…..
Apparently I didn’t write clearly. I should have written “When President Trump is in the White House, he is the one who will deal directly with . . . . .”
Trump is not the only one affected by this.
It’s one thing to be MAGA, one thing to be a Trump loyalist, it’s another to be a Trumpohile.
You spit on MAGA if you spit on one of MAGA’s greatest Gladiators.
That insult has been thrown way too often to be effective any more.
I believe we are strongest when we are unified. We have a proven leader in President Trump. He knows more about the speakership situation than anyone here making glib comments.
I stand with President Trump because he has earned my respect and my trust.
” the creepy and emotionally unstable 60-year-old sitting at the end of the bar who hits on your 21-year-old daughter.” Brilliant
I would have prefered Jim Banks.
Well the Senate, China Mitch and his fellow background Lemmings have neutered the new Congress and Kev with a lame duck budget deal. So what is this all for. Who cares who leads Congress. Kev loves it because he doesnt have to take tough votes or positions and the dRATS will get what they want as always.
Our country is run by deep state blackmail and coercion anyways so might has see it all burn to the ground.
You cant get what you prefer.
PDJT is sliming through the swamp to get that 2024 opportunity to prostest the steal locally and not in DC this time.
For over a year now I have heard it thrown out there that we could consider Trump for Speaker. Now we are forced to “accept” McRino? Why has no one suggested Trump? OR ANYONE else on the outside? it doesn’t have to be a sitting congressman. Isn’t anyone out there? A former politician that people can get behind? Anyone? Buehller? I mean what is this “well we haven no one else so we have to hold our nose?”. Seriously there is NO ONE out there at all? I call BS on this. This is another we have to accept it. I am done with “we will get ’em next time”. Last time I checked we are quickly running out of “next times” in this country.
No non-representative has ever been elected Speaker. Can’t envision any scenario where reps would vote for a non-rep except as a protest vote, regardless of what “people” get behind.
Newt Gingrich?
Too many Republicans in Congress want to be the minority. There is safety there. Being in the majority means what they do counts. And Trump would drive them to do stuff that would limit there grift and power.
The vote is for MAJORITY Speaker. A Republican MAJORITY Speaker.
Yes. Thus the choice for McCarthy. Weak Speaker means they have cover for the same old same old.
“We’re quickly running out of next times”.
Conclusion: “I’m done”.
True Grit?
Since there is not a unanimous choice for Speaker, the House Rules should be altered to give more power to multiple committees. No letting McCarthy write deals with Schumer on his own .
The same reps who would elect McCarthy also make the rules / committee assignments so might not be willing to go against him, unless he needs a compromise. of course the chairs of Rules and Ways and Means want their own power. Remember a lot of business gets done in the Committee of the Whole House for the State of the Union. McCarthy could kick out the delegates like Eleanor Holmes Norton.
I hate that this analysis is correct, but it is correct. It reminds me of what Sundance urged/cautioned re rallying for Oz, which at the time I disagreed with. I couldn’t get passed Oz’s sheer terribleness. But Sundance was right. And he’s right here, too.
There was a time Republicans couldn’t get away with colluding with dems on something like Speaker. But we’re passed a time that the Uniparty really needs to care (or at least make a display that they care) about what their constituents think. That pretense – caring what voters think – is getting thinner and thinner as their totalitarian control grows stronger.
Yes at least 5 republicans would be tapped to collude with dems to give us a Liz Cheney type Speaker. It absolutely would happen. After all, that’s essentially what Paul Ryan is/was – a brazen Uniparty operative. He had to try to pretend for a while. They’re doing less pretending now.
I wish it weren’t so but Sundance is right.
Can’t see the squad going along with that.
The squad is a tiny minority. They’re irrelevant in this.
Of course they would. The Squad does what Pelosi instructs them to do, always. Ask any of the “progressives” who voted for them.
Has the Dems’ caucus rule changed? It required members to cast their speaker vote for their leader.
If that rule remains in effect, the hypothetical GOP traitors could not collude with the Dems to elect some “Liz Cheney type,” but Hakeem Jeffries.
And if the GOP caucus is stupid or perfidious enough to elect the Dems’ leader as their speaker, Kevin McCarthy is the least of its (and the country’s) problems.
When have rules stopped Pelosi from doing something she wants. If she sees an opportunity she’ll make it happen.
“Never” would be pretty close.
But Jeffries, not Pelosi, is the leader-elect of the caucus that will be voting.
What are the odds that he’d quash a rule that could leave him speaker of a Republican-majority House, pending only one of the missteps of which the GOP is capable?
For what its worth, based on my research Oz would have been the only true Senate ally Trump had. All he needs is ONE as Sundance has pointed out many times.
Too bad so many fell for the flood of anti Oz psyops that were smears recycled and repackaged from the smears the Establishment used on Trump in 2015.
Unfortunately, this time those smears worked.
MTG explained what would likely happen if McCarthy is not elected. It could be worse with a Democrat being elected. Trump is espousing the same sentiment. I am not going to map out the reasoning. It has already been posted.
This insane temper tantrum over everything Trump says or doesn’t say is ridiculous. If you lived in this country under his four years as president— then figure it out. Was he or wasn’t he good for this country?
Think for yourself— or continue to take a strong whiff every time another dissenter farts in the wind.
If I measure the disaster that unfolded that has cost me pretty much everything under the Trump administration (his allowing Fauci to dictate policy and provide a backstop that allowed State Governments to become their own little tyrannical empires), I’d actually say Trump wasn’t good for this country.
in actuality his policies were good for this country, but his horrible personnel choices and his listening to them was a disaster.
Fauci couldn’t be fired. He was head of the NIH who started his bureaucratic career under Reagan.
President Trump followed the CONSTITUTION that gives the governors and mayors who people in each state the authority to decide what to do with the info provided.
Blaming President Trump for what the global psychopaths did and are still doing, why?
Faucet didn’t have to be fired. His microphone could have been taken away. “2 weeks to stop the spread” became two months, then became two years. 10,000’s of deaths, 100,000’s of adverse reactions due to Operation Warp speed.
Remove the backstop and the governor’s lose their cover. Trump is still touting the success of Operation Warp Speed, despite the evidence. I’m not blaming him for what the tyrants did. Just for setting the stage for it to happen. Because he did.
Maybe you should listen. Matt Gaetz explained why MTG was full of it. Maybe if we let this play out, more and more would become clear about McCarthy’s background. The guy is a snake. Let’s hear the five “No” votes explain their reasoning. Stop with the Democrats supporting McCarthy. Seriously.
that can happen with McCarthy steal winning.
playing it out is just a PLAY – its not a stance as in “I will not support McCarth no matter what including having a Democrat House Speaker”
thats a bold position.
Matt Gaetz and friends “aint never been called a,,,,,,,commie” They will never vote for Hakeem Jeffries. I can’t say the same for McCarthy supporters. Democrats,,,even six or more will never vote Republican unless Pelosi extracts something such as subpoena power etc. And that’s just the way a snake like McCarthy would stoop to maintain power. He is a Paul Ryan endorsed. Jeb Bush endorsed, and good ol Lil D endorsed swamper, never MAGA candidate. Why is it so hard to follow. There will be a compromise and a sharing or there will be trouble.
Everybody knows. In fact, the dirt because its so public makes him a snek thats easier to handle.
For heavens sake, everyone will be watching him like a hawk, unlike Paul Ryan, and his primary is just two years away if he screws up.
He’ll be a hero or Liz Cheney 2.0. His choice. Either choice will be a win.
Is it a win considering how much damage has been done in just two years, and how much more will be done with a weak, spineless squish of a Speaker?
people crap talk bout PDJT because it is ACCEPTED SPEECH – trained into society, that talking foul about PDJT can have no negative repurcussion – cause if anyone stands up they are a racist piece of …
ACCEPTED SPEECH is gonna be heard the most throughout the day – its clutter.
Agreed. The emotionals who don’t understand civics; only their “I Wants”, are rage tantruming at Daddy T. Again.
President Trump is faaaar more patient than I am. Thank God.
^^^^^^^^^This!
Sundance, the same can be said of DeSantis if he runs and wins the 2024 primary.
If De Santis runs and wins the primary in 2024, the same COULD be said but the same wouldn’t apply or be true.
Basically, we are given a choice between a kick in the shin and a blow to the head.
No.
A lot of us are DONE with this. The USA is finished, and we are working on getting OUT.
Those States where sanity and integrity still prevail should begin the process of gaining (or regaining) their independence, on their right to self-determination, then giving Washington DC a BIG middle finger. The Texas Nationalist Movement is leading that effort in Texas.

Contact your State representatives and DEMAND that they begin the process, to do what needs to be done to save your own State.
We do not have forever.
Waaaahhh. I didn’t get exactly what I want so I quit. 😘
Thank God President Trump has more grit and emotional self control.
I lost pretty much everything in the pandemic. Everything. I lost my business, most of my savings, friends, family and everything I have worked so hard for. This isn’t “I’m not getting what I want so I quit”. For me, It’s “I’m tired of having no representation, and are done going along and being told to hold my nose if I don’t like how the product smells, yet I still have to buy it.” I’m not buying cheese. My and my children’s future is at stake here (as is all of ours). I want the people in Congress who represent me to start doing so. The Republicans promise almost as much crap as the Dems, but deliver only what the Dems want. In my estimation, considering Kevin McCarthy’s ineffectiveness as Minority leader for the last 4 years, he isn’t up for the job of Speaker, nor the task that is ahead for that person. I don’t think he’s earned the shot. I think he’s already proven he’s the wrong guy for the job.
The GOP only has a five-vote House margin.
Really? At 222, it has a five-vote margin over a loss of control (217), but a nine-point margin over the Dems (222-213.) It’s still a zero-sum game.
Happy to have my math corrected if I’m overlooking something.
You fight the war with the army you have, not the army you wish you had. We are f*cked.
your screwed if you dont find a way to get the fightless, timid, or otherwise feeble kind to get the desire to protest physically.
skipping right to the gurilla warfare, and not trying the MLK GHANDI witl 1st and 2nd amendment there – in every county acorss the country…
is not necessary
No one ever created an army overnight.
Trump let everyone know years ago this was OUR fight, not his fight.
The question is when will you fight?
Our voices have been rendered meaningless. Try going to a local school committee meeting and voice your opposition to radical indoctrination and the weaponized govt comes down on you and your family. Every institution has been compromised, including our military. What most people consider “fighting” is a complete waste of time. We need a real rain that will was the scum of the street…….
We’re not fighting. That’s the problem. Those of us that do, get thrown in jail, told to just go along, or laughed at behind our backs.
Speaker of the House is the third in line to the Presidency, plus heads several critical committees.
It is a very powerful position.
McCarthy may not be the best pick, but strategically the Republicans definitely must get the Speaker position.
I love VSGPDJT, but he is wrong a lot when it comes to judging GOP members, and this is one of those times.
Yes and I’ve said it before a few times on these pages, Mr. Trump’s judgement of people isn’t encouraging, even though we were told many times, also on these pages, that being in business for as long as he has, his judgement of people/character is excellent. Didn’t turn out to be accurate. At this point why can’t he just be quiet and not endorse anybody?
Didn’t read and ponder Sundances explanation or listen to President Trumps explanation and think about what he’s saying?
what is right.
He’s running as a Republican. That means he has to work with the Republicans. Knowing that, what is he supposed to say about them? How can he not hire some of them or work with them, if he wants to get anything done?
Who do you trust more then Trump and Sundance? Are you two neighbors?
If not for Trump the evil that infected our Constitution Republic would not have been revealed to us. He was the catalyst that brought about the revelations we are now seeing. Do not be deceived by the words of people who while they embrace evil they claim to be doing good.
Remember God does not choose perfect people to lead us out of this mess, but God chooses people that are perfect to get the job done.
Remember way back in time when a perfect man was sent by God to save us, the self righteous powers that be at that time demanded he be put to death. They were given the choice between a murder/thief or the One sent to save us, one to be released the other to be killed. They chose the murder and thief to be released.
Be careful what you wish for.
like a hero
I call it a MAGA Gladiator
Like it or not, as long as Trump is running as a Republican, he has to work with the Republican leadership and the Republican fund raising system.
I wish he would go third party or independent, but I also understand how that can come with a whole other set of problems that are probably even harder to overcome than the RINO’s. It’s a damn shame but that’s just the way it is.
the Leftist inflitrated the government instead of fighting it from the outside.
why wouldnt someone use the same proven sucessful model?
If you want MAGA, put MAGA people in. Quit screwing around w/theRINOs and Old Guard.
Can’t
the plan better be something more than again RELYING on the rigged system.
The Real World isn’t like Hollywood Make Believe.
When the House Speaker position was up for grabs everyone at the time knew what a deceptive, crooked, RINO snake Paul Ryan was and they were surprised Trump didn’t object to him as Speaker, which he could have done. Why didn’t he? At the time, those trying to come up with an explanation for this commented that Trump was “keeping his enemies close to him.” That didn’t turn out so well, did it?
Another big mistake Trump made while in office was appointing Jeff Sessions as AG, who promptly recused himself of his duties as AG on the Mueller case and handed these over to Rat Rosenstein. Kudos that Trump fired Comey, but then he appointed career Dirty Cop Christopher Wray. Bill Barr proved to be another seditious do-nothing swamp character. Another mistake was helping Mitch McConnell get re-elected. Someone inside Trump’s circle has been giving him very bad advice/intel on these vile RINO swamp creatures. Out of ignorance or has this been deliberate sabotage? Or maybe they have been trying to make deals with The Devil, thinking you can actually trust one of these RINO traitors to hold up their end of the bargain?
We have plenty of America First Congressmen. What’s wrong with one of them becoming Speaker? Are they lacking in courage to take on the swamp and don’t want the job? If that’s the issue, IMO they should be ashamed of themselves and don’t belong in Congress representing their constituents. McCarthy isn’t going to do JACK to move things forward & hold the DC criminals accountable who have been breaking every law on the books to convert the country to a totalitarian state, destroy our economy, and undermine our national security. He’s only blowing his horn about all the action he will take now because people were shocked at his “Let’s make peace across the aisle” comments after the GOP got the House back in the midterms. ZEBRAS DO NOT CHANGE THEIR STRIPES. You can’t find middle ground with hard core Marxists. They have to be hobbled, immobilized, and sent running over the horizon with their tail between their legs.
Recall that in 2016 the ensconced DC criminals had Trump over a barrel with the threat of a special counsel being appointed to investigate his ties to Russia in the 2016 election. As we now know: An elaborate hoax concocted by the Clinton campaign, FIB, & US intelligence operations in collusion with nefarious characters in the DOJ who signed the fake FISA warrants to spy on Trump “without reading them,” (as Rat Rosenstein testified under oath). Perhaps Trump tried to make nice with them and agreed to Ryan being Speaker to appease the RINOs in the hopes they would then support him. Shock and surprise they didn’t, but only stuck their seditious knives in further.
In my opinion we are seeing the same dynamics as 2016, at 2.0. The DC criminals have Trump over a barrel again with more fake charges now. “Insurrection” and “stealing classified information,” Now FIB even refuses to produce the search warrant that enabled their illegal raid on the President’s home. The DemonRats are trying to pass legislation to prevent Trump from running again in 2024. Does Trump once again think he can cut a deal with The Devil and win? Did McCarthy flat out warn Trump that he won’t fight the DemonRat legislation and allow him to run in 2024 if he doesn’t support him for Speaker? Nothing is too low, vile, or crooked for these swamp RINOs, so it wouldn’t be a surprise.
May I add, good ol MTG is quoted as saying their is no stomach to address the fraud of 2020. Really gives you a good feeling about Trump, McCarthy, and the establishment wing. Hike the mega football to placeholder McCarthy, and watch PDJT try and kick it.
maga
Apparently no one can choose or even “influence” who becomes Speaker except the sitting members of Congress. And since the GOP is mostly RINOs we get the likes of John Boehner and Paul Ryan. Who knows, maybe McCarthy will return to his 2014 TEA Party roots?
I’m pretty sure that the POTUS doesn’t get a vote on who becomes the speaker, so what difference would it have made if Trump had objected to Ryan?
“We have plenty of America First Congressmen. What’s wrong with one of them becoming Speaker?”
About half the GOP caucus is MAGA (about 111 seats). No path for a MAGA candidate to reach the 218 votes needed to elect a Speaker.
FYI we do have an America First candidate for Speaker –Andy Biggs. He has 5 votes and maybe another 30-35 votes that won’t state so publicly. Short of 218.
gang of 8 needs to be replaced
you can’t – they pick their replacement
think of a new plan
.
I just wish conservatives wouldn’t be so quick to fall in love with the next carefully positioned politician.
We should have learned all of this after Romney and Ryan, even before that.
Great point.
We want to believe we got a chance to win, and finally someone is on our side.
I’m trying to reconcile this in an honest way. I keep coming up with BS. PDJT quotes his dislike and warning of a Paul Ryan wing of the speakership. Paul Ryan has endorsed McCarthy for Pete’s sake. McCarthy openly campaigned against Joe Kent for congress. Probably others as well. I get confused sometimes. Is it McCarthy or McConnell I’m supposed to be weary of. This whole thing stinks. We are to believe that six or more democrats would break from their party and vote for McCarthy?? Don’t insult our intelligence. MTG used the same argument. And by the way who advised Trump to come out publicly? There was no need to back McCarthy. We have America first people in Washington. Let them figure out a way forward. This is beginning to look like a sign that the establishment wins again. And I’m offended for whats it worth.
The good news: post Mid-terms MTG says half of the GOP caucus is now MAGA
The bad: The other half of the GOP house caucuse is not MAGA and will not likely support a MAGA Speaker candidate.
Here is the crux of it — there are apparently 20 or so GOP reps that say if it’s not McCarthy, they may join the 213 Democrats to elect a Dem or a nightmare Rino. Apparently there have been some cross-the-aisle meetings to this effect.
Right now McCarthy does not have the needed 218 out 435 votes.
Andy Biggs the MAGA candidate has five and maybe as much as 35 –well short of 218.
Here’s what happens just after the New Year:
The full House (both R and D) votes for Speaker. The first candidate to reach at least 218 votes wins. As of today, McCarthy is headed to lose the first round as five GOPs promise to withhold their votes. In the second round, 20 GOP reps plus 213 Dems may elect someone we really really don’t want.
Do you have a candidate in mind that both the MAGA and Non-MAGA branches of the GOP will unify behind? If we don’t unify behind a candidate, then we may end up with someone much worse than McCarthy –even a Dem.
No I do not.And no we will not. I promise you. Nancy Pelosi will not have anyone cross the aisle and vote Republican. Period. Full Stop. She will die with Hakeem Jeffries. Now, if you think republicans will cross and vote for Hakeem, GOOD! Let’s find out now who we’re dealing with. McCarthy better be willing to compromise with his own party,,,not the communist uniparty, but that’s what he would have you believe.. He is a snake and a CCP sympathizer. Now, on different posts you’ll see his California background. And if I know it, so does Trump, and so do Republican congressman.
Think you may be confused and have it backward.
Pelosi would not necessarily be voting for a Republican. But there are about 20 Republicans willing to vote for a Dem or near-Dem.
Pelosi and the entire Dem caucus would happily vote for a Democrat for Speaker (with the help of 20 or so traitor Republicans who have indicated an openness to do so if McCarthy isn’t the guy).
You can’t see the Dems electing a Democrat a Pelosi-friendly Republican like Cheney to the Speakership?
213 D’s plus 20 R’s is well over the 218 needed to elect a Dem Speaker.
A few procedural points:
The winner is the candidate who receives a majority of the votes of those present and voting.
So in your example (and assuming all 435 members present), five GOP withheld (as opposed to other-candidate) votes would reduce the majority requirement from 218 to 216–a scant three short of the full Dem 213 caucus.
Moreover, assuming a unified and fully-voting Dem caucus, five additional withheld GOP votes would turn the election over to the Dems 435-10=425; 425/2= 212+1).
And that is based on all members present. Any GOP absences would reduce the majority threshold as well, and by the same rate as withheld votes: 1 reduction per 2 absences.
So another way to assess the peril is:
No Pubbie even needs to collude with the Dems to convey the speakership to them.
Any combination of 10 GOP withheld votes or absences will do it.
Thanks for adding this additional twist that it is the majority of those present that counts. 218 is the target IF all 435 are present.
—————-
So a GOP turncoat doesn’t have to stick their neck out by publically voting on the floor with the Dems –just don’t show up. Aaargh.
You know of the two choices, my guess is the GOP traitors prefer door #2 the cowardly no show.
Just so it doesn’t fall off the turncoat watch, the old present “vote” has the same effect on the majority threshold as an absence or an abstention.
since McCarthy doesn’t have the votes, perhaps he should stepdown and throw his endorsement to someone else. Rather than try and make people vote for him who don’t want to. For many of these Congresscreeps, a vote for McCarthy will be the end of their political career in the House. Other than MTG, what MAGA candidate in their right mind would vote for McCarthy? And MTG will face the consequences next election.
Agree, if McCarthy were a true leader, he would step down. He should be working to find a candidate both the MAGA and non-MAGA sides of the caucus can unify behind. You’re right, McCarthy is causing the problem.
“There was no need to back McCarthy” == your opinion.
President Trump disagrees. So does MTG and Jim Jordan.
Perhaps pray rather than fret?
Not fretting here. I’m making an observation. I said no need to back McCarthy in PUBLIC. Get it straight. And if you’re looking to lecture me about what I should “perhaps?” .I pray the Holy Rosary twice daily for FWIW to you.
i don’t trust desantis, primarily due to sundance’s revelations about his unsavory financial connections. but sundance seems to be so focused on the danger he poses, that he is taking a circle the wagons approach to protect trump from any critical thinking on ANY position trump takes. mccarthy is compromised and would take every opportunity to renege on any commitments that don’t square with the regime interests that own him.
i’d value this comment IF it went full circle – critize and offer solution
who is the right person – describe how they get the majority count – and how it does not result in a Dem House Speaker
dont think for a second the Republicans cant says ooops its not our fault a Dem won during the vote.
‘mccarthy, you will not get our vote. we and the different blocs within the caucus will put forth proposals for speaker, and our caucus will come behind someone that it can accept as a compromise. you, however, are disqualified for your past and current demonstrated uniparty support.’ once he is out, candidates who can be the choice of a consensus will come to the fore. this is as likely a scenario as, and according to gaetz and biggs, a much more likely scenario, than the one trump is warning against.
Who is the person they will put up – that will get the support of 218? so a Dem doesnt get the uniform majority vote
Since McCarthy can’t get that number of votes short of threats of a Democrat Speaker being voted by RINO Republicans if McCarthy isn’t the Speaker, he clearly is not the right person either.
Claiming the ability to read Sundances mind?
Perhaps pray then ponder more which leads to learning more rather than fret posting about things beyond your control?
Bring back Newt or consider Louie Gohmert.
SD, please stop with the nonsense. Your NFT “hero” is WAY out there. Not the same guy that you used to WORSHIP and still WORSHIP. Btw, why don’t you cover the latest Mar La Go “lavish” party for a bunch of homos? And you published your weekly prayer, WTF?
Who is the right person? How do they get the majority county? How does it not end with a Dem House Speaker?
no answers = shouldnt of said something negative.
ho ho ho Bad Santa troll
Thanks for inspiring a chuckle and a heartfelt prayer. 😘
#Cult45 #Trump2024 #MAGA
All the “Boehner to Ryan” rationalizations aside, Trump’s stance could unwittingly become a self-fulfilling prophecy that erodes his support and pushes people to consider DeSantis who before hadn’t considered an alternative to the President.
The mass of Republicans out there aren’t wading through the tea leaves, or making the big money, globalist connections to the Florida governor. What they see for now, or at least what gets the most press, are actions that seem to go against the Leftist grain and push back, sometimes hard, as in the case of Disney. It reminds them of Trump when, against early expectations of people who just wanted him to burn the whole rotten Republican edifice down, he actually governed as if America, and his promises, mattered. And against the backdrop of a coup, and the total planned disaster that is the Biden faux-administration, they’re anxious for a warrior, someone who seems to want to fight back. And in this context, they see the President doing what he’s done too often in the past – supporting RINOS. (Graham, McConnell, Collins, Romney…)
Lesser-of-however many evils, 4-D chess, intuition, a desire to pick someone who seems set to win…whatever motivates Trump this time, it will come at a price in 2024. Because McCarthy’s stripes will not change simply because he got Trump’s endorsement. He is not an America-firster, he is not MAGA, he is not even terribly conservative – more pragmatic than anything. And if Trump were to win the election, with Kevin holding the Speaker’s position, we would revisit this conversation based on Trump’s own inevitable criticism, then. But it will be too late because “drain the swamp,” when the chips are down, ALWAYS morphs into this fait accompli of “what choice did we have?” despite any number of choices that might have been presented.

The “mass of Republicans out there” are just happy that Nancy Pelosi got the boot.
Whomever replaces her WILL BE A 100% IMPROVEMENT FOR OUR NATION!
Sorta’ sounds to me like Trump is being asked to go along with the same ‘leadership’ that has stabbed him and his supporters in the back since he first stepped on the stage. I am sick of weak Republicans who just play the game and allow the leftists to have their way no matter what…and Trump wants to play along? Nobody supported him more than I did, but it seems he hasn’t learned from experience. He wants to play ball with the same losers? How does that help any of us? What have the McLosers done FOR us? They work WITH the leftists, they line their pockets, they ignore the voice of their base of voters, they actively work AGAINST America-First candidates, they work against Americans, on and on and on. They won’t even mention impeaching leftists who won’t even secure our border! If these game-players are all we have (and that looks more and more like it is the case) then we don’t have any representatives anyway…and don’t even get me started on how they continue to allow these jabs to be given when research is showing the negative side-effects. These so-called ‘representatives’ are truly sickening. But why fight against them…right? Let’s just continue to be the floor mat they wipe their feet on before they go in to do their dirty deals.
Please consider that its not Trump but you “that hasn’t learned. He obviously has. God bless him.
What exactly has Trump learned? Trump has made countless mistakes with those he brought into his inner circle when he became president. I knew from his first twelve months he wasnt going to win reelection because the very people he keeps protectimg are the very ones sticking the longest blades in his back and he keeps doubling down on them. He is either controlledopposition or he his ao arrogant that he thinks he can keep them in check and after his first term he ahould have learned that its him thats kept in check.
So who do you recommend for Speaker that can get the necessary votes?
We have MAGA candidate, Andy Biggs — he has 5 definite votes and maybe 30-35 that won’t declare publicy.
This is a strategic move. The least worst.
Read again what Sundance wrote:
Essentially, if not Kevin McCarthy, and the House vote is dependent on Democrat support, the result will likely be worse.
Nothing strategic about it. We have been accepting the ‘least worst’ for decades now. That snake McConnell is a prime example. McCarthy is of the same ilk. I am tired of them. I am tired of them playing political power games. Republican voters have given them the House, Senate and Presidency a few times in my lifetime. NOTHING ever changes! Nothing ever will until we clean house…uh, drain the swamp…remember that. Yeah, it is painful, but look where we are as a result. They are openly stealing elections and how many worthless Republicans have made it an issue?? And we think things will improve with the same losers running the show?? Many Republican voters haven’t got sick enough of losing to leftists who run rough-shod over these weaklings. We shouldn’t fool ourselves. If these Republicans were serious, we would already be knee deep into investigating (s)election fraud, but no…that isn’t even a blip on their radar. They are afraid to utter the words. Cowards or cohorts? They, along with the leftists, play us all for fools. Well, are we?
Please do enlighten me on what Trump has learned about McCarthy. Isn’t he still content to pull RINO snakes into his inner circle? I am willing to be educated.
For the DeSantis folks, who’s the alternative? Serious question, otherwise this is just political posturing.
Its obviously “political posturing” plus indulging in emotional self soothing digital tantrums.
The problem with this argument comes down to this:
Given all that has happened, we can’t really envision “worse” anymore.
The dude, Newhouse, who voted to impeach Trump for the Jan 6 riots would probably be worse.
No on McCarthy.
RINOs are worse than Democrats.
Democrats are open enemies of the Republic.
RINOs are covert traitors.
They are a huge part of the reason why we are in such dire straits.
Never trust them!
RINOs are NOT worse than Dems!
You should rather we have a RINO Speaker than a Dem Speaker. Yes that could happen, there could be a Dem Speaker. Want Nancy again for 2 more years? More Jan 6 witch hunts and more Trump impeachments and more crap during the 2 years that Trump is running for President again?
Rinos=dems same club. Wake up!
We have two weeks to find a Speaker candidate that both the MAGA and the non-MAGA part of the GOP caucus will unify behind.
As Barnestormer upthread said —all it will take to throw control of the Speakership to the Dems is for a small number of GOP reps to not show up for the vote.
We’re in a perilous situation. Both McCarthy and Gaetz/Biggs are playing brinkmanship.
If we had someone the caucus would unify behind, I’d want to push out McCarthy asap. He’s not trustworthy. He spent millions in the primaries against MAGA candidates.
The MAGA and non-MAGA (uniparty) GOP don’t agree on much –it’s going to be tough to find a candidate everyone supports while avoiding handing the House over to a Dem Speaker.
I know longer care.
What no one has mentioned through this discussion is that they are here because Kevin McCarthy couldn’t get 218 votes out of his own caucus, and at least right now, he won’t. So while everyone is saying “who is your alternative”, or, “Trump is smarter and knows more than we do” and so on, why is no one asking the simple question: Why isn’t Kevin McCarthy stepping down, and putting his support behind someone else?
The winner has to achieve 218 votes. Who else is going to get that many?
Since McCarthy isn’t getting thst many votes maybe they need to figure out who can. The answer should not be “if you don’t vote for this guy who can’t get the votes and is not supported, then somebody really bad might get the votes with the Democrats help”.
That’s ludicrous. Not too mention shows why there needs to be new leadership if the Republican Party is to continue. When you are losing membership and support, you’d think they’d want to fix it (they don’t).
Once it becomes clear that Luntz’ roomie doesn’t have the votes, the horse trading shall commence. A compromise candidate will emerge, and a consensus gradually form around him or her. This is the way the process works– it’s called a brokered convention.
because the wetting the palm networks are established.
changing that bribery favor system a year out – after you have mapped it – is risky.
Trump obviously knows he has been surrounded by fools and dolts since 2016.
Guys !!! You have been asking for a Leader ! You have 2 …
Who else other than PDJT AND Sundance do you Want to take advice from ?!?
I’m ALL IN FOR PDJT myself, and Sundance is ICING on the cake !!!
Merry Christmas
It always amazes me that some of you cave so quickly. You expect perfection and when you don’t achieve it you proclaim that you’re done.
Pull up your big girl/boy pants. We’re in this for the long haul.
Who exactly are you chastising for caving? Those that want McCarthy and are caving to the threat, or those who don’t want McCarthy and are caving to not having perfection in a guy proven to be ineffective?
Kind of a puzzle here.
Trump candidate Joe Kent, beloved by many here, was actively opposed by McCarthy, to the tune of hundreds of thousands of dollars of advertising.
He wasn’t the only Trump candidate that McCarthy opposed in the general, in essence favoring the democratic.
On the other hand it would be completely awesome if Piglousy was elected as Speaker in this Republican house!
That might really wreck the Pub party.
I am not a McCarthy fan for many reasons. That being said. For his treachery, Ryan deserves a hole in the ground at his passing with inches of salt over his grave site so nothing will grow over his final resting place for thousands of years.
The fact that McCarthy is one of the 130ish congressmen that didn’t sign onto the J6 Biden selection/insurrection electoral college vote makes me reconsider my apathy. Do I suspect that McCarthy performed a Mea Copa to Trump after the J6?
The tea leaves and crystal ball are exceedingly difficult to decipher. Maybe the crystal ball bought years ago is wanting or I need to take it to the ocean for a proper dunk and cleansing? Left sitting in the sun and burying it in the past didn’t seem to improve upon inspired wishful thinking…
Trump got elected because of two things.
1). Because a majority of American voters rightfully despised Hillary Clinton.
2). Because he campaigned on concrete objectives that he said “Hold me accountable.”
Easy to understand. Trump also didn’t give a flying f**k what the media or voters thought of him. Promises made promises kept, as best he could. Ez peazy.
And now Trump refuses to endorse anyone in the race for RNC chair. He can’t come right out and support Mike? Really? And he can’t choose between Dillon and Romney? Really?
What is the matter with this guy? He embraces his enemies and scorns his friends. Is it possible that he thought that the scum that surrounded him in DC really were nice guys?
His support for McCarthy is concerning.
Sundance’s post and many many comments on this thread lay out the facts on the ground with the Speaker situation.
Getting tiresome to ask, but okay who do you recommend that could get the votes needed? The only other person running against him is Andy Biggs, a great MAGA choice, but he doesn’t have the votes, not even close.
The entire House votes after the New Year, not just the GOP –all 435 R’s and D’s.
>> If McCarthy loses in the first round of voting and right now he is short several votes —then it goes to round two and then three —Some uniparty Republicans have indicated if McCarthy isn’t the candidate then they might work with the Dems to vote in someone much worse than McCarthy, possibly even a Dem.
Let them do it then. Let them explain to their Constituents why they gave up control of the House to the Dems. Let them see what level of support they receive in 2024, unless they by then have already become Democrats. Let them walk the streets of their districts and meet with the people who elected them to fight for them in DC. Let them be accosted in restaurants, or the barber shop, or the grocery store.
they work for us. It’s time they start to act like it.
What you do here is show McCarthy that he doesn’t have the votes, and then you get down to the brass tacks of finding someone who is acceptable to both wings of the caucus. This happens all the time in conventions, even at the presidential level. Check out Wendell Wilkie in 1940.
The ONLY way the House vote would depend on Democrat support is if REPUBLICANS vote for a DEMOCRAT. McCarthy and allies are saying “vote for me or I’ll vote for a Democrat.” That tells us EVERYTHING we need to know about McCarthy and the rest of the GOP.
Several voices I usually trust, such as Lou Dobbs and others, have dismissed out of hand the idea that a DementoRat could sneak into this situation using traitor R votes.
However – given everything we’ve seen lately, is it really that entirely unlikely that the traitor R’s would just go ahead and do this?
We know they don’t care about their constituents. We know several of them are in place thanks to solidly built machine fraud and $$. And we know several of them are on their way out anyway.
The fact that PDJT is now warning of such a scenario makes me rethink it.
And for the record, of course I despise McCarthy, and would love to see Andy Biggs in – I’ve heard a recent interview or two with him and he is proposing much-needed return to regular order rules that the Pelousy crime crew has devastated during their illegitimate reign. Andy is solid.
But if Andy doesn’t have the votes…
taking the “safe” bet has ALWAYS gotten us the lesser of two evils …. evil on the right is as bad as the evil on the left.
doing the same thing over and over again is INSANITY.
if we want to change DC then we have to take a different route
and as they say….. no risk, no reward.
I’m all in with the freedom caucus – let er rip!
So who should we believe about Kevin McCarthy…President Trump, or our lying eyes? Once McCarthy faces the fact he’s not going to be Speaker, a suitable Republican can get 218 votes in no time. It’s McCarthy’s maniacal narcissism and personal ambition that endangers us, not 5 Patriots who have had enough of McCarthy’s treachery. It’s McCarthy’s selfish pursuit of Speaker votes vs. Republican seats that gave us this paltry majority.
But who is the “suitable” Republican you speak of?
