Through the years one of the things CTH has always emphasized is the accuracy of your election ‘sense’ ground reports when contrast against the national media narrative.
So, this thread is for you to share what the sense is around your community. How motivated are the people in your neighborhood? What is the sense of this election cycle? If you have voted already, how was the turnout for early voting in/around your area?
Use this thread to share your own sense of how things look from your perspective. If comfortable include the general region you are describing so that others can get a feel for your impression of the midterm election this year.
CTH will host several election day update and ground reports tomorrow as election day voting gets underway. However, in the interim, what do you see and hear in the conversations around your town, hamlet, community or precinct?
Historically the sense of the election you share has been remarkably consistent with the outcome. Are the people in your circle enthusiastic about removing Democrats from their seats?
I am afraid I have no real report for you as my family lives in probably the most safely R congressional district in IN, maybe the country; it last went commie in 1928. The guy in the seat is a GOPe soldier who will do as told. Todd Young will be re-elected to the senate in a blow out but again, altho’ he followed DJT’s lead most of the time, I don’t know that voter trust in him runs terribly deep. Elsewhere down ballot, there are often few if any commies on the ballot in my locality most years and fewer this time around. I expect upheaval on the school boards. Tellingly, our neighbor who bailed out of CA to move “somewhere sane” volunteered as a poll watcher which says much about attitudes in central Indiana.
A bit of an Election Day story, so to speak, about the new prime minister of Italy, Giorgia Meloni. My bride and I are in Italy on a long delayed trip. We are in Florence and have renewed acquaintances with a fellow that owns a favorite restaurant here. Chatting with him the other day about the bat flu, its effect on his and other businesses, and many other topics, at some point my wife said that government paying people to stay home had badly hurt America’s economy and our friend said, ‘They did the same thing here- stupid! But we have this woman now, she’s going to fix it.’ He leans in close, “She’s like a republican, no?” 🙂
This from Rabobank…
Their analysts tend to be correct and their daily market summaries are an enjoyable read…
And there it is…. GA judge extends voting deadline.
We had early voting over the weekend in Louisville. As we were walking in, a lady stopped us and asked us if we would like a dem voter guide, endorsed by President Obama (exact words). I asked her is she had one endorsed by Pres Biden (trying to be respectful) and she looked at me like I had three heads. We have a good chance of electing the first Repub Mayor in years. Local lib paper didn’t endorse anyone which leads me to believe (hopefully) the dim is losing big.
So glad this day is finally here so that we can stop getting multiple daily texts from Tim Scott (South Carolina) which usually begin shorty after midnight. We’re tired of the commercials filmed from Tim’s barber shop and the repeated “from Cotton to Congress” slogan. I was at a wedding last weekend where everyone was complaining about Tim’s repeated texts. You can block the number and they’ll just send another one from another number.
I think it will be interesting to see the turnout and how everything goes. Over the past year, I’ve noticed a lot of new people in our community who moved here from North Carolina, Washington, California, New Jersey, and Oregon. I wouldn’t be surprised if South Carolina turns blue in my lifetime because of all the liberals moving here for lower cost of living.
Just voted Election Day 7:30 am in very blue district of Durham NC adjacent to the Peoples Republic of Chapel Hill. Turnout was low but number of bumper stickers on cars remains high. I felt naked in my car with no coexist stickers/ sarc . No wait to checkin, for ballot distribution or for paper ballot to go through counter.only 144 tabulated ballots today. I know my R votes don’t have much meaning locally but they do statewide. Many races for judges had only Dem options so I skipped them.
Voted in adjacent Alamance County. Heavy turnout. I parked next to a car with a rainbow sticker and promptly went inside and probably cancelled their vote. Glad to see voting turnout in Durham County is light. That is a good sign.
Here to vote in Deltona FL. Issues with ballot scanner. New one on way. Giving choice whether to wait or fill out ballot and put in locked box until later.
Waiting for the scanner.
voted at 6:10 AM in DuPage County, Illinois
Approximately 10 people were voting when I arrived.
When I left, cars were pouring in the parking lot.
One complaint I have is with libertarians.
They got their pot approved for sale in Illinois.
Now I just want them to go away because it is
obvious they are spoiler candidates to take
away votes from the republican candidates.
I don’t think that many libertarian voters would vote R, even if the R were unopposed.
i hope here in oklahoma we keep gov stitt in place.
Voting machine not working, supposed to manually drop in slot. Then after fixed there will,” Be two people from both sides”. Will watch as they put in the machine. Already starting. I am waiting. Just a dribble of red would be nice in Minnesota.
Did the wifi check and found a new network inside the polling place. I think it’s for the voter ID computers at sign in, but I’ll check.
Here in Kentucky we have a Democrat governor by fraud default. We have a supposed Republican Legislature that, I think, are there in Franklin…maybe..sometimes. When you write or call them they never respond. So they are probably RINOs. Local Republican party in my area go on and on about using paper ballots only, no machines. ??? When I questioned this by pointing out the “ballots scanners (a machine)”, the USB drive used to transport those scan numbers somewhere. And then how was all these USB drives collated together and where? And what “machine” was used to collate them? They seemed to get lost past the door from the small restaurant we were meeting in. No one seemed to be sure what happened to these USB drives . But of course we do not use machines, ya know. So, no there is no confidence that this States elections are secure. After all we have been trying to get rid of McConnell for ten or fifteen years and we never seemed to be able to garner enough votes!! So there is that.
I”m in suburban Philly, one of the collar counties.
This area used to be Republican, but with development and the influx of people from Philly it’s a toss up, depending on who is voting.
When I voted this morning outside there was ONE person handing out things for the Democrats… and THREE for the Republicans. The republicans were often greeting people by name.
I can’t gauge turnout… because our polling place has had massive growth in the past 5 years and I went before work it was very busy.
Voted at 8:45 am in Lower Makefield, Bucks County PA. Turnout was much lighter than 2020 but seemed steady. There was a guy wearing a badge around his neck that said “Voter Protection”. He said he was Mark from the PA Democrat party.
Laurel County, KY. ES&S machines in a county with 62k people. 62k cannot count ballots by hand…amazing.
The candidates were almost all Rs running unopposed. Two ballot measures-one about amending the state constitution regarding when the legislature could meet. There has been no publicity and it was so convoluted I don’t see how it could pass. Shame on me for not studying that one ahead of time.
Measure no. 2 was a pro-life amendment, which ought to pass overwhelmingly.
At 0830 the line was decent-sized and people were in patriotic attire. It’s a blessing to live in deep red KY.
Now, did my ballot go to manual adjudication? Who knows? We’re relying on God to work a miracle on that mysterious ES&S machine.
Allen County, KY here… voting steady and heavy.
North Central WISC is pretty reliably red / MAGA country. We flipped 2 local school boards and the county board RED in 2020. The area prefers MAGA candidates but will support GOPe or rinos if needs be.
Not sure about Michaels. He is a GOPe/RINO plant to remove Rebecca Kleefisch. She was the MAGA candidate-I don’t think the Uniparty cares between Evers & Michaels.
It really comes down to the “Peoples Republic of Madison & Milwaukee” vs the rest of the state. If the suburban WOW counties surrounding Milwaukee go red, we win.
I think that the “MAGA-est” candidate for governor was actually Tim Ramthun, but I ultimately went with Tim Michels in the primary because Ramthun would’ve been a “wasted vote” and I didn’t like the RINOs who were endorsing Kleefisch. Kleefisch actually isn’t as bad as a number of people make her out to be, and she did do good work in getting liberal school boards members to flip to conservative ones, but what ultimately did her in was a number of RINO people like Judas Pence and Robin Vos endorsing her campaign and her acceptance of those RINO endorsements. Thus, she ended up killing her own campaign. That’s a big reason why I refused to support her in the primary, and then Trump’s endorsement of Michels played a final small part in it as well. If she would’ve separated herself from those RINOs, then I probably would have been more willing to consider her over Michels and she probably would’ve won the primary.
I currently have the same luke-warm feeling towards Tim Michels as I did towards Trump in 2016. I, just like I was with Trump at the time, am not sure exactly what Michels stands for or what he’s actually going to get accomplished as Governor. He currently seems too “willing to listen to and work with D’s” when he should realize that D’s in this day and age are completely impossible to work with. We’ll see what happens. I hope that he, like Trump did, pleasantly surprises me.
Did anyone here in Wisconsin take notice of how the abortion item on the ballot was worded? It lied about what our State law says (acted like it doesn’t provide exception for the life of the mother), which will even get a number of pro-lifers to vote yes on it as well, which will later be used to act as if a whole bunch of Wisconsinites wish to see our abortion law amended (or even repealed) in favor of the “widespread baby killing for convenience” agenda that the rabid commies wish to see, and that’s not at all the case here.
Deep Blue El Paso, Texas. I went to vote at about 7:20. There were maybe 7 voting machines. One person was voting. One more came in while I was voting. I’ll check again later, to me it looks like Democrats are not voting. The early and mail in voting was half the number of 2018.
Voted this morning with my son at about 6:30 am. Only a couple of people there when we arrived and one coming in as we were leaving. It took 3 times for the machine to accept my ballot and the poll worker wanted me to stick it into the ’emergency slot’ to be hand counted. I tried the third time and it went through. My son’s ballot went through the first time he tried. I had ballot #1147 so if that provides any clues – we live in a small town in upstate new york with the great Elise Stefanik as our congress critter.
I should add that both my son and I voted straight republican, his went right through, mine took 3 tries. In 2020, my ballot (again straight republican) didn’t go through without multiple tries. I thought it might have been my choices that made it not go through, but maybe I’m not good at coloring in circles with ball point pen – who knows.
Saw this in PA:

NCFL… at 9 am good crowd .. waited maybe 5 -8 minutes to register and sign in ..I noted lady that gave you your ballot had large stack of paper registration.. I said looks like good turn out.. she replied “oh yes 😀”.. people still coming in as I left ..
Looks like voters are voting 👍
🇺🇸💪😀👍
At voting area, there was a person asking name information and entering into ipad. This was first time my voting area had it(been going 20 yes). Also a man acting as poll worker I did not know was blocking location where I entered ballot into reader. This was in a town in middlesex county Mass
Went to early vote on Friday, NC, but the line was too long, so we’re voting today, hoping that the lines won’t be as long. Lots of low-infos discussing the election, and the general consensus from those conversations is “change.”
Voted at 9 local time in Kalamazoo, Mi area. Hoping it had slowed down by then. Not the case. Took 30 minutes to get through the line.
never seen anything like it.
wife is a poll watcher at another precinct. Guy came in with a flag on his sweatshirt, somebody told him he couldn’t vote with that on his sweatshirt. Wife got that situation fixed in a hurry!!!
Just voted in a Baltimore suburb. Of course, Maryland is a blue state, yet I didn’t even know who the Democratic candidate for Governor was until I voted. He has been totally under the radar. The only signs I’ve seen have been for GOP candidate Dan Cox, the pro-Trumper that won the primary because Democrats thought he would be easiest to beat in the general election. They bought supposedly anti-Cox ads that showed how pro-Trump he was, which they knew would appeal to Republican voters. So the Dems got what they wanted, but they may have outsmarted themselves. I can’t see how a no-name Democrat who appears not even to have campaigned will win this contest. At least, not without cheating.
Just got back from voting. I live in a rual farming community in northern middle TN. I was the only person there, but a pickup truck pulled in as I was leaving. I’m guessing most of my neighbors (farmers) will get there depending on farm chores. We also have 4 Constitutional Amendments on the ballot.
I got out at 6:00am to vote (Indianapolis) and the place just up the street kept 30 people waiting for 30 mins. before saying they couldn’t get wifi or internet working and all the polls were having the same issue. BS! I went to the next closest place & got in and out in 10 mins.
We have some good candidates for SoS, school boards, county supe, etc. My big prayer though is that radical muslim-loving, Rep. Andre Carson gets the boot and his opponent who’s been campaigning everywhere wins!!!
Fort Worth Area. I have had many more random people talk with me about the state of the country and that they wanted the Dems out! It actually has been a bit of a surprise. Mostly people quietly fume but don’t bring up politics. I only saw a few Beto signs. Folks around here are furious about the direction of the country.
Voter turnout at poll opening in my “about as ‘less blue’ of a precinct as you’re gonna get in Dane County” (barely above 50 D / barely below 50 R) appeared to be rather good for a Midterm. I was a bit surprised at the number of people there.
Although, it appears that at least some areas of Madison are turning out as well, although I’m less familiar with what sort of a line constitutes a “good turnout” or “bad turnout” there.
Micanopy FL
Dominion machines. Of the two tabulators, one is not working.
Gee, thanks Ron DeSanctimonious for keeping Dominion machines throughout Florida 🙄
I live in a small Florida beachside community of 9,000, and today there was the biggest turnout to vote I’ve ever seen, with the line stretching out to the main road. The voting chamber was packed full of booths, which I’ve not seen before either. Altogether a much greater turnout than even the 2020 election, and that was the most I’d seen since living here.
Voted in a Church in Deland FL. Short line, 5 minute wait. DL and Voter ID taken and DL scanned.
Started raining but spirits were not dampened.
The guy behind me was going to go fishing but the pending storm gave him time this morning.
There is something good about exercising your right to vote in person.
Never sent in a ballot through the mail.
If you are confident in sending $500 in twenties in an envelope through the mail, then God Bless You.
I’s why I always show up in person in election day.
My husband and I had very different impressions today. He voted a little after 10 am and there was no one there. He can’t remember a time when there was no line. A good sign since our precinct is heavy Dem. I went around 8:30 this morning and there were more masks in line than I like to see. (I’m assuming mask = nutty lib but maybe they all had bad colds and were just being considerate). I took my mother shortly after 9:00 am to vote at the Plymouth Meeting Mall just over the city line. A few impressions: 1) There was no Mastriano sign on the Republican table, which I don’t think bodes well for him and 2) The Oz sign taped to the table was surprisingly written in English and Hebrew (I think). Probably is good if it means he did a lot of outreach to liberal leaning Jewish people who otherwise might’ve reflexively voted Dem. 3) While waiting for my mom, I saw two different people walking into the mall with their Democrat voter guide already in hand. Odd, but it tells me the Dems must’ve done some outreach at suburban churches maybe, so I don’t think that’s good.
Central Georgia here, very rural, Old South Democrats abound. Some do vote Republican but only 35,000 votes are in the county. My polling place had three workers, all black. You know they are Dems. The Governor’s and the Senate race has been a dumpster fire. Praying for Herschel and that sorry Kemp.
My son and I requested Absentee ballots for Philadelphia County. We got 2 different ballots,,,one a check box and mine was a write-in. We were ONLY allowed to vote for senator. Emailed Board of Electons…no response. Emailed PhillyGOP…would investigate they said. As time was getting short for posting , we mailed them out. This was real voter suppresson. We wanted to vote for governor and Congress .
Southwest MI polls were pretty busy for 10 am in my small precinct. Something new this election was the option to vote electronically 😣 or on paper. Ugh! Not one thing has been done to fix the fraud of 2020. Instead they’ve doubled down! Everyone ahead of me in line chose paper, as did I. Hoping that is a good sign. I don’t have any confidence that this election won’t be just as rigged as the precious one.
