For those who have followed the deep weeds of republican political games and schemes, the DeSantis flights from Texas to Martha’s Vineyard had a specific familiarity to them.
The transfer of Venezuelan migrants, illegal alien border crossers, from Texas to Massachusetts via Florida taxpayers and Ron DeSantis was/is, well, something republican strategist Lee Atwater would have come up with. The protege’ to Atwater is a person more familiar to modern republican followers, Karl Rove. Yes, the migrant transfer operation held all the political benefits of something very Rovian in its construct.
Take an issue like border security, central to the majority of republicans, add an element of targeted benefit and overlay an establishment playbook carried out by shadow constructs giving plausible deniability to the central planners in the backroom, and you get this type of operation. However, there’s always a risk of taking things just too far and losing control. An investigative article in the Miami Herald today has the elements of a looming backlash that needs to be avoided by the principle.
The Miami Herald is a notoriously left-wing super narrative machine, but when it comes to using their investigative resources to target a vulnerability in their opposition, they are akin to the New York Times in the sharpness of their attack. If the story as outlined in the Miami Herald is even remotely accurate, the thirsty people behind DeSantis may have just set themselves up for a problem and created an ‘own goal‘ scenario.
Investigators are now picking up the first scent of blood in the water created by short-sighted DeSantis operators. According to the lengthy outline, a contractor with intent to carry out the DeSantis operation has been identified by the media; she is known as “Perla.” The outline of the operation now changes the national narrative, at least that’s the goal of the Herald, from Rovian political strategy into DeSantis using vulnerable migrants as political pawns.
Miami Herald – […] Ultimately, the migrants interviewed by the Herald were the butt of the joke. They thought they were going somewhere. Five days before she knocked on the door of their motel rooms, the woman, who never told them her name, had recruited the migrants to join a secret operation to transport asylum-seekers out of Texas. She had approached them outside San Antonio’s migrant resource center and said she worked for an organization that she did not name.
[…] The week before, contractors working for DeSantis, including a woman known only as “Perla,” had organized two charter flights to Martha’s Vineyard, the Massachusetts island, as part of a taxpayer-funded program to remove “unauthorized aliens” from Florida.
[…] DeSantis has said he’s recruiting migrants in Texas for the flights because it’s easier to find them traveling together at the border than spread out in his own state. Critics called it a cruel stunt — and a misuse of taxpayer money — aimed at promoting a governor expected to run for president.
[…] DeSantis’ office did not immediately respond Wednesday when asked if the state of Florida was behind the latest recruiting efforts, or whether it had arranged the planned charter flight from San Antonio to Delaware that never happened. When shown photos of various recruiters, migrants from the Martha’s Vineyard flights and the group that thought they were destined for Delaware both recognized one image, of an unidentified woman with black hair.
[…] Christina Pushaw, the DeSantis campaign’s rapid response director, would write on Twitter that news of the Delaware flight was “disinformation.” (Like the governor’s office, the DeSantis campaign did not respond to a request for comment.) After the flight was canceled, the recruiters organized a bus to take Escalona and most of the others back from La Quinta to the San Antonio migrant resource center. But some migrants were never told about the bus. They were stranded at the remote hotel roughly 10 miles from the resource center, where migrants can get aid and shelter for a maximum of three days.
[…] All of the migrants interviewed by the Herald told similar stories. They were recruited by a woman in a black vehicle driving around the migrant resource center and then taken to La Quinta to wait. Although the destination was uncertain, the plan appealed to people who had no resources after making the long journey north from Venezuela.
[…] There were conditions to staying at La Quinta as part of the program. The recruiters warned him not to give out any information or talk about what they were doing. It still would have been worth it, he said, had he gotten to a state that provided more resources to migrants. He just wanted to work, and the woman’s offer seemed to promise that opportunity. (In reality, asylum seekers are not allowed to work immediately, although they have legal status in the United States.) Deiker José’s plan vanished the moment the flight was canceled. “I want to cry because I feel hopeless. I have nothing. How do I work? How do I survive?” he said. (read more)
There is a fine line between making a political point and being viewed as exploiting the desperation of vulnerable migrants.
I have no doubt the Rovian people behind the DeSantis campaign saw an opportunity to score major national points, and when combined with the ferocity of the Pushaw eastern European mindset there was likely an echo-chambered snark-filled joy of willingness in the plan.
However, if you do not see how this has the likelihood to be viewed as tenuously ridiculing by the larger Latino community in Florida, you likely don’t recognize when a joke turns into the bloom falling from the ruse.
Overlay Florida taxpayer money being used to fund the DeSantis national political game and, well, you already see the grins in the Lawfare crowd.
They’re going to eat him for this and I’m okay with that. Has been bothering me for months and still can’t get a good answer as to why this isn’t trafficking.
I’m vehemently against using people as political pawns. We did it in the mideast most of my life. We’ve done it since covid. We’re doing it with illegals. Don’t even get me started on kids.
Enough.
The illegal aliens need to be deported because they knowingly broke our immigration laws by crossing the border illegally.
The focus needs to remain on this fact and not the transport to Martha’s Vineyard.
They should not be transported around the country and have people become concerned about whether the illegal aliens arrived at the town of their choice, received ideal accommodations, found a job, etc.
Regardless, the transport was not “trafficking” which the DOJ defines as follows:
“Human trafficking, also known as trafficking in persons or modern-day slavery, is a crime that involves compelling or coercing a person to provide labor or services, or to engage in commercial sex acts.”
https://www.justice.gov/humantrafficking/what-is-human-trafficking
My argument has always been for immediate deportation. I can’t stand them sending them from Texas to Mass when Mexico is closer.
And frankly, I would argue it is trafficking as they’re providing the “service” of being political fodder.
#Never WEF Trojan Horse Desantis
I’m totally against loading these illegals up and shipping them elsewhere. It’s all for show. Close the border. Honor the constitution. This is an invasion.
Totally agree. Sadly, even PDJT did not handle it as an invasion.
So many evil people now crawling around, and within, to destroy any hope. This could be a bigger mess for DeSantis relative to his race for Governor…forget the speculation on a ‘24 run. The evil empire wants to torpedo RDS now…upset him and hang us (Floridians) with a disastrous leftist. If GOPee operatives are working these actions, their stupidity and clumsiness is either intentional or self emulation of the worst kind.
As for the federal race, it’s over. Oxymoron titled “Voting Rights” bill is passing the house and RINOS in the Senate will go along. This is the end. There will not be any election for President not stolen or lawyered into a Dim victory. No wonder the puppet wants to run again….HE CANNOT LOSE.
If we would band together he would lose.
I loved Atwater..
Rove is a poor imitation. We need several MAGA Lee Atwaters. Ruthless. Smart. Unprincipled.
Re “self emulation” — did you mean to say “self-immolation”?
Indeed…spell check strikes again.
President Trump has always listened to everyone and trusted no one. He’s always ultimately made up his own mind, lived, learned and kept going.
Echo chambers are for fearfuls and fools. Fortunately, President Trump is neither.
“Kushner dEsTrOyEd Trump” is a belief that insults apex predator, alpha male Trump while elevating Trumps beta boi gofer SIL to super villain stature.

#GandalfTrump
Dismiss the distractions and get as many 2022 Republicans elected as possible.
This is so Machiavellian, it makes my brain hurt.
Here’s the way I think Sundance sees it:
And those last will be exited stage right. No problem.
Gross!!!
Oh God… Yes, I don’t think DeSantis is as malleable as the evil ones think. They would be happier with those other whores.
Nothing says pathetic rino like Carl Rove. There probably is the undercurrent by the Rove pigs to undermine some of the larger individual DeSantis money people. If those individuals don’t see things the old fashioned rino club’s way, their chosen (DeSantis) will be damaged leaving only the Iky Nikki Judus Pence garbage to carry the rino torch
Nikki Haley, Mike Pence and Mike Pompeo.
You have mentioned three people who will never be president.
Jared and Ivanka have always been more closely aligned to liberal ideology, especially in the social justice arena. Van Jones and prison reform told me all I needed to know. They are not MAGA. Never were and never will be. They have much, too much influence over DJT. Hurt us all.
Okay, you win. I’ll vote for Hillary in 2024. Good grief.
Or, was DeSantis not supposed to do this? This grows more confusing by the day. It is time to flood liberal elite enclaves with illegals. It’s a fine idea. Only a fool would think that the lawfare groups would suddenly wave white flags and surrender.
So we don’t like DeSantis anymore so his idea is therefore automatically bad?
I’m lost. But I’m tired of just bending over and taking it.
Read Maximus-Cassius for explanation. He sees the GOPe stooges clearly.
It’s because Big D is being managed.
I have never, ever trusted Jared. IMO, Jared played a big part in getting rid of Bannon, and others.
Flying back from Miami as I type this…
Everyone I spoke with loved the move, including the Hispanics.
Indeed, The latest Florida poll has DeSantis +8 against Trump.
DeSantis and Rove are birds of a feather. At this point in time they both have zero credibility.
Sorry Ron, that is what you get when you throw in with scum.
Ask Mike Pence he knows first hand
If you look close enough at DeSantis at the podium you can see a slight image of another RINO sellout from New Jersey delegated to the dustbin of history named Christy Todd Whitman.
I know the good people of Florida are disappointed.
You thought DeSantis was something special.
Time to adjust and use him for the tool he is. Hold his feet to the fire and use him to defeat local Democrats and nothing else. Make him a useful idiot and nothing else.
None of them are special. The special ones don’t make it in this corruption. The sooner people wake up to that the better off we’ll all be.
I knew the instant I heard of the Martha’s Vineyard flight; this was taken too far by people way too eager to score easy points. It was titillating, but dumb and reckless.
It was a stunt. We need solutions, not stunts.
It’s called a big beautiful wall. Trump tried 25 billion and Congress said no.
Ditto
Let me clarify, we need solutions that are put into ACTION. A wall of concrete, a wall of soldiers, a moratorium on all immigration are all solutions. “Trying” isn’t doing. Desantis DID the stunt.
OK I’VE HAD IT…Time for both barrels in the chest of EVERY Treeper writing on this blog….INCLUDING SD.
You folks are up in arms about 50 illegals winging it to a rich enclave noting the hypocrisy while patting yourselves with brilliant commentary.
I’m in the food processing equipment business and can relay without reservation 35-40% of ALL processing plants hire illegals. Dumb one on the floor, smarter one in administration. Look at job postings of chicken plants, a preference for bi-lingual, hint…it’s required. I’ve watch illegals sabotage equipment, thus requiring redesign preventing access to hydraulic hoses and controls. I’ve witness a group of forty get caught through HR audits only to walk down the street and apply at the next building. I’ve watched ICE raid a building and at my next client 5 miles away 95% of the workers flee for a week before they return. I’ve watched illegals slow their work making a day job last 3 days, then owner ask why my equipment is failing. In five minutes show the higher packing rate then the math. Owner realizes he’s getting low production from his hires, and does nothing.
Home Depot has special third party creditors funding illegals starting landscaping and construction businesses. My brother is a painter and will not hire them because in six months they are his competitors.
Republicans pass legislation to hire H1B’s. And if you chat with American IT professionals foreign workers take three times as long to program and their code is junk.
Why do you think McDonald’s has order kiosk. Try ordering in CA Central Valley when a non English speaking employee just stares at you.
Walk in into an ER in any town and it’s loaded with illegals, health care paid for by your state tax dollars.
That city contract for landscaping is illegals cutting grass, trimming bushes and fixing sprinklers.
ALL of this is sponsored by Congress and those PAC’s shuttling millions into political campaigns.
So ALL you folks eyeball the shinny object of 50 landed at Martha’s place. Or some moral dictum that maybe a crime was committed. If you open you ears and eyes 40 million illegals are the Invasion of the job snatchers and consumers of government services.
The lie is in front of you. Every product in your grocery store was touched by an illegal. The pouch, carton, food, bottle, logistics, distribution…ALL TOUCHED BY ILLEGALS funded by Wall Street because Main Street doesn’t have the capital or resource to handle volume.
Keep fiddling with your keyboards…your not voting your way out of this. 40 million illegals making Trillions for Corporations that control your vote and null your voice.
You all want sunshine….while put that truth in you pipe and smoke cause that’s about as close as your going to get to it.
1. You can’t be against transferring them to MV without also acknowledging that Obama and Biden did the same to the rest of the country. Double edged sword.
2. These moves by Abbott and Desantis proved that liberals never wanted them anyway. Sanctuary city narrative destroyed.
3. Rove is smart but is he THAT smart?
In Illinois, we are a “Welcoming” state. Mayor Lightloafer called Governor Abbott a racist for sending illegal aliens to Chicago without even first notifying her. Oh, the nerve. She then put them on a bus and sent them to the suburbs, whom she neglected to first notify. That’s rich.
So DeSantis has his 15 minutes of fame. Bailey is running against Pritzker here in Il and he had a good suggestion. Send them to a Hyatt Hotel and let Pritzker foot the bill. At some point someone must find the courage to send them home, on a bus, and teach them to sing the wheels on the bus go round and round song, in English.
As a MAGA Illinoisan, I hate that my state tax dollars are being used to provide aid and comfort to illegal immigrants who shouldn’t even be in the United States to begin with.
Darren Bailey is right. It’s much fairer to house the illegal immigrants in a Hyatt and make Governor Pritzker pay for them than to make the state taxpayers pay for them.
I believe I live in a sanctuary city but not a sanctuary state. Catholic charities tests them for covid, and if negative they get plane tickets to wherever they want to go. Here are some typical originations/destinations:
Cuba-Miami (HUGE)
Venezuela-NY/NJ/Illinois
India-California
It is all over, but these are typical.
If they are *covid positive* they get housed at a hotel for 5 days, used to be 10. Then they get their ticket out.
It is the NGO’s that run the politicians and government. Our politicians are all bought and paid for, and if they aren’t, they are demonized and crucified nonstop by the media and the justice dept, think-MTG, Trump…
Correct … the politicians are bought & paid for … and … their families all have “businesses” related to all things illegal.
Illegal Aliens. Why are you using the ever-changing and manipulated language of the left?
Rove is handicapped (as many are) by his hatred of Trump. Ergo, missteps. Trump rules.
Rove is a “New World Order” Globalist.
He’s with the Bush Agenda – not the America First agenda.
This goes way beyond just Trump.
He would never support DeSantis, unless he felt he could corrupt him into supporting “New World Order” Globalism.
And Biden is continuing the same type of transfers, in the dead of night, into red states trying to turn them blue. Maybe Soros’ will fund that investigation at his personal DOJ/FBI too!
Yes you can when you understand the way liberals think.
I’m just going to copy-paste something I posted elsewhere on this site: (any typos are the fault of the original poster)
I’m going to take a moment to shift my brain into a liberal mindset… one who doesn’t consider how things became the way they are, only acknowledging that they are.
“Look, our cities have long been responsible for trying to take care of these poor and homeless people. They have problems I simply cannot understand but it’s hard to watch them suffer like this. But now we have all of these homeless and impoverished people from other countries seeking our help as well! We can’t help them! But those dirty Republicans don’t seem to have this problem because they are heartless and don’t want to help.
Well I’ve got something to say about that! Send the migrants out to Republican areas so that they can see what it’s like for US for a change and maybe they will understand what we’re going through!”
That was hard to write… harder to maintain character. But this is the way they think. They aren’t big on cause and effect. They are “r-type” people for the most part. (see “r selection vs k selection” for more details on the two mindsets) So they only consider what is in front of them and not how it got there and whether or not they like it. That’s about the extent of the consideration.
So with that in mind, was DeSantis’s stunt useful? To some, maybe… some liberals are still capable of thinking. But to many others who believe the government is somehow carrying out their will? Not so much. They think DeSantis was just being heartless and shirking off his responsibility to care for these illegal aliens.
So while we wildly enjoyed the spectacle of “how do you like the consequences of your policies now?” the reality is I don’t believe the needle has moved a great deal as a result. We keep thinking they will change their minds if they see what we see. The problem is they will almost NEVER see what we see. They (left-following public) do not think the way we do.
————-
Now I’ll add that the more this gets analysis, the more this STUNT was done specifically to promote DeSantis.
They are spending a LOT of time, money and resources to get us to like him. The problem is we already liked him. But then the smell of the RINO started appearing.
Is there anyone here who still thinks DeSantis is not compromised?
He’s too perfect, too contrived, too manicured. Everything he does is meant to bring attention to him – lot’s of grandstanding. I’ve lost trust the Ron for president idea. .
You also can’t deny that the illegal invasion problem was exacerbated by the Reagan AMNESTY debacle. THAT got the snowball rolling after Ted Kennedy’s restructuring of the immigration positions. Now , today, most are using the new gateway with attendant freebies & goodies attached, to enter unobstructed into America and yet no one ever brings it up. The REFUGEE RESETTLEMENT PROGRAM bringing us refugeejadists and all of the southern hemisphere’s refuse.
I really like the publicity showing the hypocrisy of liberals. It got a lot of attention and we need every exposure of that liberal hypocrisy.
But the real “tell” to me is that DeSantis had the media on hand. To record the announcement. To record the planes arriving at the airport, the immigrants getting off the planes. The immigrants in Martha’s Vineyard. The breakfast they fixed for the immigrants. The sanctuary signs. DeSantis defense. The appearance on Hannity.
This Miami Herald article indicates that this was not well considered for the ramifications and potential fall out.
I hope DeSantis wins as governor of Florida, but I want him nowhere near the White House in 2024 unless he sheds a lot of those big donors like Ken Griffin and Jay Cayre, the NY, CA, IL, DC big donors. I want somebody who is dead serious and who has plans on how to fix things, not a president who does stunts for publicity…..sad.
He’s not going to do any of the things you want, unfortunately. He’s going to kamikaze Trump and thereby give the White House to the Dems for four more years.
Don’t discount Mike Pompeo portraying himself as above the bickering, presidential, and an alternative reasonable voice with experience in handling the deep state and world affairs.
I am a Trump supporter but I wonder if we can all withstand the constant lying and schemes to destroy him. It will not end you know. Maybe DJT can be more effective using his money and contacts behind the scenes rather than the target of so much vitriol. Maybe he can pull all the attacks and lies away from some other candidate.
I know DJT is willing to put up with all the attacks but I’m not sure we should put him through that.
DJT is the only one who knows what policies to implement and how to bring manufacturing back to the US BIGLY. Now, he knows the people who will and who will not implement his plans and policies without lying or backstabbing. He knows who the traitors are. He could be much more powerful in his second term because he would not have to hold back on prosecutions.
the Miami Herald is a leftist Democrat supporting anti-DeSantis hack rag…… so Trump was giving $2B in free PR in 2016 by CNN and MSNBC, FOX and all the rest…….. they aren’t going to do that again. DeSantis will have to raise $1B to run for President. Trump will have to do the same…….Trump isn’t going to self-fund. They all will need donors. Period. Just grow the heck up. DeSantis had the right instincts on Covid, unlike Trump who turned it over to Fauci and shut down the economy, which more than anything caused his 2020 electoral loss.
DeSantis still shut down Florida to a great extent. Sounds like you’re throwing Trump on the trash heap and jumping on the DeSantis train for 2024.
Trump tried to dump Fauci but once again was threatened with impeachment by the RINOS like Graham if he did.
Reminer the drug companies withheld the information that they had a vaccine until after Trump lost.
Trump should’ve fired Fauci, Birx, et al, consequences be damned! One, right is right, and wrong is wrong. Two, if he were really an outsider, then he should’ve shown their hypocrisy and dared them to impeach him.
Sounds logical, but like any conflict nothing goes as planned – Trump had no room to move. He was encircled and threatened constantly. Also Kushner wasn’t much help.
OK, ONE. MORE. TIME.
Trump’s FEDERAL shutdown to flatten the curve was for 15 days, no more. The further lockdown were implemented by STATE GOVERNORS, mostly Dims.
The constant extensions of additional declarations of emergency were implemented by STATE GOVERNORS.
These were NOT Trump lockdowns. Learn about federalism. It will help you understand things much more fully.
Trump publicly stated that he expected things to be back open by Easter 2020.
Monica
you are either living in a alternative universe, downright ignorant or just a troll. There is No Way Biden got 81 million votes from his basement.. those votes may have come from lots of other basement storages but certainly not living or legitimate voters Time magazine laid out the whole plan straight out of one the books about Color Revolutions written by one of the snakes of all snake masterminds, Norm Eisen. The same Norm Eisen chosen by Obama to be Ambassador to the Czech Republic and failed impeachment lawyer against President Trump and now fake news contributor
I suggest you get on the side of God’s chosen liberator of The United States Of America instead of sitting on the democrat side of the fence.
DeSantis is OWNED by Wall Street and is implementing Cultural MAGA.
Virtue Signalling, MEME Making MAGA stripped of Structural Changes.
DeSantis, declare the Cartels Terrorists and Illegals and Invasion.
Block Chinese spies and CCP money in Florida.
Put Tariffs on Chinese goods.
He wont do any of that, he will continue to Virtue Signal and Troll and make memes and implement CULTURAL MAGA.
DeRINO
Is Steve Bannon a cultural MAGAist? He has repeatedly said: ” Politics is downstream from culture.”
..and in this modern age, it is!
I’ve watched it happen since the days of the Vietnam war. Then again with disco, then rap, hip hop and house being promoted to our youth. Now it’s transgenderism, transhumanism and globalism being promoted.
Look at what’s happened to Hollywood, television, and all once “respectable” sources of news… and how all the purveyors of propaganda, the ones that had gone over the edge and should never be a “trusted source” ever again are now trying to reclaim our trust by attempting to portray themselves as now being more “centrist”, as well as obviously left leaning politicians attempting to portray themselves as “Bipartisan”.
Whatever I think about DeSantis and the people behind this stunt doesn’t matter. It was a great mobilization of culture to open eyes, and it did!
However, I do believe the CoC Republicans and the rest of the anti-Trump GOPe’ers are positioning DeSantis to weaken PDJT’s chances and possibly run against him, which will do nothing but make it so the Globocommunist Dems won’t have to work so hard to steal the 2024 election if they continue on this track.
But as to the Martha’s Vineyard optics, I’d like to see more along those lines. Perhaps with better coordination, organization and less behind the scenes problematic issues, if possible.
Finally! The left received some effective pushback! MAGA-A! TRUMP 2024!
DeSantis ain’t MAGA – the donor pool exposes it all.
DeSantis’ goal is furthering his political career whereas Trump is putting everything on the line to save our country.
It’s great isn’t it? But they aren’t hypocrites. See below

Thank you for doing your homework.
I don’t at all consider DeSantis’ transfers to sanctuary cities a stunt, since those 50 migrants could easily have been taken in at least temporarily by the locals of Martha’s Vinyard until the well-paid charities were notified to come with their resources.
In the end, charities will ultimately intervene in the lives of most migrants, whether they are in Houston or Martha’s Vinyard. But the National Guard? That was a beautiful and immortal irony to be savored for eternity, and we have DeSantis to thank for it
Lastly, it’s laughable to note in this space such surprising devotion to progressive sympathies so spontaneously. (Remember they lie about EVERYTHING without exception!). Keep in mind also that the Left would consider DeSantis’ deportation of migrants to the border to be just as heartless as sending them to Martha’s Vinyard. Enjoy that thought!
Looks like Jared Kushner agrees. Looks like Charlie Crist is going to have a field day presenting this information to the public. DeSantis should’ve gotten out ahead or been honest from the get-go. Now he’s on defense.
https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2022/09/jared-kushner-criticizes-sending-migrants-marthas-vineyard-says-seeing-used-political-pawns-troubling/
Nobody cares about Jared Kushner’s opinion on immigration, DeSantis or frankly anything else. Certainly you Trump fanatics don’t have alot of respect for liberal Jerad or his wife Ivanka….. except when he says something that smears DeSantis.
JMO.
Try not to fall for the fed-centric news cycle…….. it is just like a merry-go-round, there is a lot of noise and lights but after wasting your time, you get off at the same place you got on.
MAGAs duties from now until election day is to focus on President Trump’s endorsed candidates and their local republican ticket.
“Let’s go Brandon!”
I’ll disagree with Sundance on this one. Yes, it was a political stunt. But the Democrats will have a tough spinning a narrative against DeSantis over this matter.
Perhaps, but Florida Taxpayers will be on the hook to pay for all the lawsuits DeSantis has just created.
One thing is certain, rino rove and the gop club won’t be paying them. Within a couple weeks the rino club will be pushing Pompeo & Haley
Is it possible they planned this to get rid of Desantis and bring in the favorites… Pompeo and Haley?
The target is Trump. They don’t plan to win.
How much will they be on the hook for the invasion of their nation and state?
I’ll take the lawsuits. Florida will win them and it’s not like they don’t have lawyers any way.
ME TOO!
Those consent forms will eat into Lawfare damages claims.
The only needle that moved as a result of DeSantis’s stunt was the one pointing at the 2024 Republican nomination.
Liberals don’t need to spin anything. See my comment here:
https://theconservativetreehouse.com/blog/2022/09/22/atwater-styled-shenanigans-surface-in-desantis-national-political-campaign/#comment-9206921
They think VERY differently and when they speak their talking points, they are not speaking to us. They are speaking to the people who will run and rig the next elections.
DeSantis just sealed the mid-terms for the Rs with this. You can’t ignore a shovel-full of leftist duplicity like this one.
Trump 2024, but thank you DeSantis for: 1) Knocking FBI Raid off the front page, and 2) Showing for all to see what hypocrites the Dims are.
I just do not get the dumping on DeSantis…I love Trump, but this friendly fire is a waste of time…
Yep. I agree. I don’t know where SD’s head is at on this one.
Vulnerable migrants? I expect that phraseology from the NYT not CTH.
The reasons are simple: Getting MASSIVE swamp money for his re-election campaign for GOVERNOR? DeSantis immediately stopped referring to Trump. Said nothing of consequence about the crimes committed by the FBI in his own state against one of his most visible residents.
Sundance has more than made the case against DeSantis. If you aren’t paying attention, why are you here? If you are paying attention, then you’re a troll.
Looks like someone has a cult of personality problem. SD is not infallible. On this he is dead wrong. Illegal immigration (and, frankly LEGAL immigration) are the end of your Republic. DeSantis threw up a Hail Mary pass for a touchdown that EVERYONE can see.
Will it change anything? Not without a veto-proof majority as long as Bidet* is in there. But if it helps wrest control of the Congress away from the Dims then it did us all a huge favor.
DeSantis is not the answer, but give credit where it is due. He nailed it with this one.
Oh, give it a rest. This is not an either Trump or DeSantis. We need them both. We need DeSantis as governor and TRump as POTUS. We need DeSantis to keep making waves that put a point on the hypocrisy that is the Democrat talking points as he did with Disney and with Martha Vineyard. The more of this the better. I am oh so weary of the pearl clutching Republicans bending over every time a Democrat is offended because its not woke or green. Woke and green are the path to serfdom. DeSantis is just throwing tomatoes. I think he should throw more.
nonsense.
Sundance is responsible for publishing THE TRUTH.
you may not like it. It might even hurt feelings. It could even cause a person to seriously consider how they make informed decisions.
IF sundance had an axe to grind with DS specifically, it would be very obvious.
but never confuse publishing truths and backing them up with some kind of partisan bias or personal vendetta.
The way I look at it: Sundance has published these facts and truths because it is quite obviously clear that DS is being supported by people with very specific self interest agendas..juxtapose that association with President Trunp, who was financed almost exclusively by MAIN STREET AMERICANS, by the millions! And beholden to no huge whales!
DS is a great governor. He is however subject to much review and criticism over his source of political career. Most never bother to notice. An entire generation or two have come to understand that grifting and self interested billionaires are all part of king making.
Until THE ULTRA MAGA KING pulled down the curtains.
we noticed. We are not willing to go back to the very same dull blissful assumptions that presidents must be bought and paid for and selected by small groups. It’s counter to self interest of where real power in America exists: WE THE PEOPLE.
President Trump is an enigma in so many ways. And this is just one major aspect of it.
A person who was willing to risk EVERYTHING.
I am very loyal to that.
God Bless America
DS is a politician.
Spot on Sundance!
I’ve read that DeSantis used about 5% of a $12MM fund allocated by the legislature to fly the illegal aliens to MV and the aliens signed consents that were in both English and Spanish. That at least suggests taxpayer funds were appropriated by the proper process, not by executive fiat (think student loan forgiveness).
Of course, I have no idea how accurate my sources are, but are from conservative media sites I’ve found mostly reliable.
Seems like a bargain…
When this moving illegals to Martha’s Vineyard was first posted it was mentioned to not forget these are still people that are now vulnerable to being exploited, and quite a few thought it was okay to exploit them because it sends a message. It was a timely reminder that playing dirty games of exploitation is better left to the Democrats, it’s their natural way of being but when Republicans try to exploit people for their cause it always gets turned back on them by the Democrats – sadly with the press being what it is, from here on out the evil Republican governors exploiting those ‘poor tired immigrants’ is going to be all we hear until after the November elections.
Exploited?
They’re living in some posh digs compared to where they came from.
Here’s a harsh perspective:
Actions have consequences.
Choosing to not work to change what is negative in your country has consequences.
Choosing to illegally enter a foreign country with the intent to take their resources and jobs has consequences. This is akin to theft.
When you sell yourself to accomplish something illegal, there are consequences. Self-pity for theives falls on deaf ears.
I think Americans are done with illegal aliens, regardless of origin and the current politically correct terminology. We can’t afford them and there extended-extended families. I think most would like to send the dreamers back as well.
So, these Venezuelans that wound up in MV were NOT first flown to Florida from Texas, in the middle of the night, by FJB? That’s what I had always assumed was the case. And DeSantis just put them back on a plane and forwarded them. This story gets more bizarre by the day.
You forgot that now will be impossible to impeach Joe Biden for doing the same thing.
Just means others could be impeached as well.
Breaking the law is the same no matter who does it.
Byedone will not be impeached . Too many RINO’s.
The impeachment would be for letting them into the country and breaking countless laws. They tried to impeach Trump for “thinking about” violating one of congress’s act in sending money to Ukraine… he never actually violated it. Meanwhile congress passed loads of legislation on how illegal aliens were to be handled. And the resident has violated those laws millions of times.
Biden should be impeached for letting them cross the border in the first place. What happens to them afterwards doesn’t really matter unless they are turned back, as they legally should be!
“Exploiting the desperation of vulnerable migrants”
That’s rich. One thing they are NOT vulnerable to is deportation. At any rate illegal aliens are not victims, they are perpetrators and should be treated as such.
This is EXACTLY spot on.
They are illegal alien invaders. At least call them what they are and stop pretending we aren’t facing the end of our entire civilization if this continues much longer.
They are usually both.
Not buying it. Yet.
“Desperation of vulnerable migrants”? They broke our law by crossing the border, and anything other than incarceration until deportation compounds the problem by encouraging more of the same. They are not deserving of sympathy.
Preach it!
In a short time there will be this thing we will tune into called a republican primary. In 2016 there, there were more than a few people vying for the nomination, I don’t need to remind anyone who came out on top. The same will happen in 2024 provided we last that long. The field of Republicans running for president can be as many as 20, if Trump runs no one will beat him.
I’m not a fan of Lee Atwater and Karl Rove style political stunts. I’m also not a fan of the neocon, globalist, corporatist type of policies that Rove likes to champion.
With that said, the type of people that would be offended by using illegal immigrants in this political stunt are likely the type of people who wouldn’t have voted for DeSantis anyway, so I don’t believe that he will suffer any substantial drop in political support or political capital because of this stunt.
Considering that the illegal immigrants weren’t even supposed to be in the United States to begin with and considering that most countries arrest and deport their illegal immigrants, being flown to Martha’s Vineyard, Delaware, Chicago, or another liberal jurisdiction as part of a political stunt is hardly the worst thing that could be done to an illegal immigrant.
Sending the illegal immigrants to Martha’s Vineyard in particular was successful in displaying the hypocrisy of wealthy liberals concerning illegal immigration even if it was a stunt that didn’t actually solve anything.
As a MAGA conservative, the most troubling thing about this political stunt to me isn’t that illegal immigrants were shipped to liberal jurisdictions, instead it’s that this stunt suggests that DeSantis is being advised by RINO establishment advisors like Rove.
“… They were stranded at the remote hotel roughly 10 miles from the resource center, …”
Didn’t they just come thru ‘roughly’ 10 COUNTRIES to get here?
Use Florida resources to round them up in Florida and deport them elsewhere. Make it policy, not politics.
Send them to Biden’s house.
Ignore all the whining DeSantis. Put your big boy pants back on and keep bussing the illegals to the Vineyard.
This.
(And also don’t you dare even think of challenging Trump for the nom.)
I’m glad that Abbott and DeSantis brought the left’s hypocrisy to the forefront here, but they really need to be shipping these people OUT of the country.
I know I know…
What you say Sundance may very well be correct but DeSantis had to know the national media was going to put their own spin on it. The overall reaction from the communists is enough to tell me DeSantis hit them in the solar plexus. I can work with that, fkkk the media.
Yup. DeSantis hit a homerun on this one, and we haven’t been scoring much lately thanks to people like Ted Cruz, so I’ll take it.
It seems the main purpose of all this is the “divide and conquer” philosophy, so skillfully used by the marxist left. If they can keep MAGA supporters bickering among themselves, then we loose the Congress in November. Keep the focus on the big picture, folks. Win the House and Senate, then worry about the White house in 2024.
Where is the proof that Rove is involved? I’m open to believe that DeSantis is an insider, but this article and other articles about him here just reek of a smelly fish agenda. Sorry, I’ve read this site since it’s inception and trust it. I rarely leave a comment, but something doesn’t seem right. I hope I’m wrong.
Human trafficking.
Even a picture of Rove sickens me.
Gotta hand it to the dems. When they pull a pr stunt, their first priority is united and consistent focus-group tested messaging that tells people how to interpret what they saw.
But this prank from Desantis has a vague kind of “I hope people get our point” message to it.
I get the sense that the money people behind Desantis don’t want him to be president. They want him to divide the America First base so neither faction has the numbers to beat the RINO Nikki dem-lite campaign.
Please, please Gov. DeSantis stay in your lane. If you don’t you’ll be run over (think Jeb) and we’ll lose a solid governor.
Why is CT carrying water for the Democrat Communists? I thought you were one of the good guys!
I understand that you don’t like DeSantis, but could you hold off on these kind of attacks until after November?
The state of Florida thanks you.
Sundance, you are brilliiant. You are the best. I am not going to read through the comments to see if others have said this; if they have, it bears repeating. You are the best!
Very Wrong. Karl Rove is a GLOBALIST, and supports the corrupt “New World Order” Establishment (Bush Sr., Bush Jr, McCain, Romney, Graham, McConnell, Rubio, Bill Kristol, Dick & Liz Cheney) Agenda 100%.
He would never go against the GLOBALIST Open Borders Agenda at all. He would completely cooperate with it.
Karl Rove is anti-MAGA, anti-Trump, and anti-DeSantis.
This is “Bush’s Brain“.
Lee Atwater was Establishment too.
“DeSantis using vulnerable migrants as political pawns.”
Correction: Illegal Alien Invaders.
They broke the law. I shed no tears.
If Rove is involved, his purpose is to destroy DeSantis.
