“Seek first to understand, then to be understood”
1.) First, please READ THIS ENTIRELY – and the full text of any discussion you wish to participate in.
2.) PLEASE STAY ON TOPIC – do not post something unrelated to the specific matter and content of the thread subject. There is ALWAYS a daily open thread available for any subject you feel should get attention. Never place unrelated, “O/T”, or “Off Topic” comments on a thread unrelated to the topic. It is not ok to say: “sorry, O/T but”… or any iteration therein, it is quite rude.
The Treehouse operates on the ‘old school’ standards and practices of civil discourse amid the original blogging community, long before social media took over.
3.) PLEASE NARROW YOUR THOUGHTS – Quality beats quantity. Please construct your comments to target specific areas and not broad generalizations about the discussion topic at hand. If you have four or five disconnected points, break them up into individual comments; that allows people to respond to the specifics.
4.) PLEASE AVOID GENERALIZATIONS – Do NOT speak in riddles. Words like “he, she, they, it, them” should rarely be used. Spell out “who” using the name, spell out who “they” are at the beginning of every sentence in your paragraph; so that there is clarity as to who you are talking about. Please avoid using acronyms.
5.) BLOCK PARAGRAPHS – Do not post huge blocks of text. Think of the reader, and modify your presentation for understanding, not for exclaiming. Do not write to yourself, you are writing to others, so please structure your thoughts so other people can grasp and enjoy. NEVER post massive blocks of text without paragraph breaks.
Do not post huge blocks of text
6.) PARAGRAPHS – Should NEVER be longer than two or three sentences taking up three to five standard lines of text. Again, you are writing to be understood, the emphasis should be on the reader comprehending what you are sharing.
Do not post huge blocks of text
7.) SPELLING AND PUNCTUATION – This is not school, and we do not demerit for poor spelling, nor do we allow anyone to call others out for the same. However, if your construct is too poorly written the context is lost and important details can be missed. Read the comment carefully before you send it. Proofread it again. Does it make sense?
8.) TIME – Everyone ‘s time is valuable. Many of our discussion threads are 500 to 1,000+ comments long. We try to limit the comments to 500 and then post another related thread, but with some research threads it is challenging because we do not want to break a continuity.
9) CITATIONS – There’s a big difference between an opinion and an assertion of fact. Obviously, most comments are providing opinions, the discussion expands when we hear them. However, if you are making an assertion of fact, you must attach a citation for review. If you do not have a citation – don’t post; this avoids spreading rumors, gossip and unfounded claims. Also related, do not post random links without an explanation of the reason, purpose and content that is behind the link.
10.) THOUSANDS ARE WATCHING – For every person writing a comment, there are easily hundreds of thousands of reading lurkers on every discussion thread. Do not disparage our conversation with vulgarity, profanity, or any expressions of any “ism”.
In the modern era of the internet, there are many voices who try to shut down conversation and information sharing. We put a lot of effort, more than anyone could imagine, into keeping this little corner of the internet open for you to research, share and discuss some pretty important stuff. Please do not provide ammunition to those who seek information control through deplatforming.
11.) MODERATION / FILTERING THE HATE – Because of our honest approach at seeking facts and truth, and openly discussing various analytical theories along the way, we are bombarded by those with ulterior motives which include:
- Intentional efforts to distract
- Intentional diatribes to affix labels to our objectives
- Intentional expressions of rabid hate, vulgarity, and threats.
- Trolling and professional obfuscation.
- Concern Trolling as a tool of distraction and derailing conversation.
- Psy-ops and intentional efforts to diminish fact-finding.
We do our earnest best to stop the agenda-horde at the moderation gates, however sometimes they get through.
If you see something untoward say something. When a new comment surfaces that we view is likely presented only to argue, we watch carefully – but we also are not perfect. You can help. There is a flag feature that helps identify trouble. Also, feel free to alert us via email.
12.) MANNERS MATTER – Simple kindnesses and courtesy should always be present in tone and content. When writing, ask yourself before you hit send: does this add value?
13.) NO PERSONAL ATTACKS – Ever. The fastest way to lose commenting privileges is to ridicule, bully or personally attack another person’s opinion or comment. Unfortunately, people, often good people, let their passion interfere with good manners and personal judgement. If you cannot be polite or respectful, pause – and – do not comment.
14.) TONE and HONESTY – Often the information and research CTH provides are about challenges we face and/or events that are hidden from larger review. It can be frustrating to see the scale of corruption; however, only you control how that information is absorbed by you. The truth doesn’t care about our feelings. Try to keep an even keel and optimistic disposition.
15.) DEVICES – It is a reality that many people use their phones to browse information and/or comment. Cellular phones and iPads are okay for reading, but also present challenges in commenting. Please make every effort to avoid the run-on issue of text from these devices. Put extra spaces in your paragraphs. Also remember your service provider (ISP) may have filters to limit the websites they permit you to view. It’s not CTH, nine out of ten issues are related to your service provider.
This control issue is worse in 2022 for obvious reasons.
SUMMARY: The Tree House community has historically accomplished a lot. Through exhaustive research and analysis our accuracy and reputation for truthful fact-finding, regardless of discomfort, is well regarded. Retain that distinction of intellectual armament.
We are The Conservative Tree House, not because of any political affiliation, but rather because the word “conservative” expresses our outlook. We would rather be deep, than wide; we would rather be honest, than popular; we avoid semantics in favor of accurately presenting both intention and meaning.
We are bold in our willingness to go into conversational places where others do not, and we are brave enough to stand firm for principles which are time tested.
We would rather advertise our outlook, so the viewer can understand our perspective on a particular subject, than deceptively claim we are something else and deliver an inherently biased view. The entire spectrum of the MSM is based on the latter.
Every reader knows where we stand on almost any issue, and our opinions -while they may be unpopular- are based on solid research and analytical insight into the subject matter at hand. This is why our predictive analysis is routinely more accurate than others.
Lastly, and most importantly, this Treehouse is a conversation. A place to connect and realize you are not alone. There really are more intellectually honest, kind and pragmatic problem solvers, than people who choose to be angry and comfortable with perpetual conflict.
Hopefully, a visit to this little corner of the internet is just like sitting on a porch with friends. And because the “conversation” is the reason we are here, this means YOU are important; do not diminish yourself.
[Remember] …” However, each of us got here, it’s probably a fact that we have the turmoil of those storms in common, perhaps some unease that we could share and always, we also find fresh ground to cover from day to day.
We’re developing valuable relationships as we trust one another in our community in the woods. The chatting in the branches encourages, strengthens and equips for some serious walking.
We think the Treehouse is a good intellectual armory for those who doing long distance walking for the sake of our nation. We hope you’ll think so, too. Find yourself a good branch….or just pull up a rock to the campfire”.
Wolverines faithfully patrol the perimeter.
Humor is also a good way to avoid fear. A laugh in a foxhole is priceless.
Be kind and please be respectful… Manners really do matter… after all, this is a fellowship.
Love to all,
Yes, all very good.
But is there an implication there that “all” have the right not to be offended?
That’s exactly how the left control speech.
Actually, that is a distraction method to take away from the importance of the topic. Misdirection used strategically. The majority here do not get ‘offended’.
🙂
In my experience, the discussions and the quality of dialog here, and on Gettr and Truth that I’m familiar with, is very high, respectful, and substantive. There is a very strong correlation between all the ‘don’ts’ that are describe by SD, and liberal troll participation.
I agree.
I sure don’t-
Words can’t hurt you…unless you’re a leftist, then words can kill….
duh duh duuuuuhhhhhh!
So true. I grew up with Richard Pryor, Red Foxx, Archie Bunker, Warner Bros cartoons, Three Stooges, Spanky and Our Gang, etc., on Sat mornings, and F-Troop, McHale’s Navy, etc., other days. Hilarious stuff! It’s all humor, take it for what it is. Some can’t.
Not much comedy out there any longer. Before all of this woke garbage and the prohibiting of speech against one political party there were some pretty funny shows on. The one we watched a lot was Archie Bunker. There was no holding them back when one of the political parties messed up. Wish they would have reruns.
Yes indeed! Sticks and stones, sticks and stones…:-)
Controlling speech in the public square is evil.
Controlling speech on your website? It is a responsibility.
Dont like the TreeHouse? Go start your own.
Hope Sundance and Ad Rem start to weed out the trolls and concerned and restore this place to its former glory.
Make the Treehouse Great Again!
Please help inform me of the TreeHouse being other than great.
Absolutely Love CTH.
I agree
Good reminder. As a septuagenarian, acronyms can throw me for a loop. (Even with 4 kids and 16 grands.) Lazy writing really. Take DH for example. It’s not designated hitter and it’s not dry hump*ng; it’s “darling husband.” Get my drift? Love CTH!
I use https://acronymfinder.com/ a lot, hahaha…
Haha. I’ll save it as a favorite. TY!
#Metoo
Lol!
That’s new to me! I will use it. Thank you!
Sextuagenarian?
Sept- indicates seven.
Sex- six.
Et cetera.
Hah, I recently posted a comment about them trying to shut down the oil production, currently in Russia, and before that in ME, with the color revolutions.
Reply asked what Middle Earth had to do with oil.
I of coarse meant Middle East, as in Saudia Arabia (note, not SA), lol.
Brevity is valuable only up to a point. That point is the demarcation between comprehension and confusion.
However in this forum, with visitors dropping by from a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences, I find that the “sweet spot” is often a moving target…. 😉
Re “Reply asked what Middle Earth had to do with oil.”
That’s funny; because, Middle Earth actually has everything to do with oil whereas fossils have nothing to do with it…
Yes, acronyms can be confusing. SA can potentially mean Saudi Arabia, South America, or South Africa.
Situational Awareness always helpful in deciphering acronyms.
Sorry Asses won’t agree.
Overheard in Texas:
“What you doing this weekend?”
“Me and the little lady are heading down to SA.”
Or sometimes it’s just one word: Santone.
Not Maine ?
I think you mean Heptogenarian.
Maybe not.
Sexegenarian for one in their 60s.
Septuagenarian for one in their 70s.
What?
And here I thought it was “Daughter’s Husband.” 😆
I guess that proves how much trouble one can get into using acronyms.
In My Humble Opinion – of course!
I always thought it was Dear Heart. 🙂
The general practice with acronyms is to spell it out the first time followed by the acronym in parenthesis. Example: the Demokratik Peoples Republik of Kalifornia (DPRK).
Then, throughout the rest of the text use the acronym that you have defined as above. Example: Nancy’s nephew Gruesome Newsom is the Grubernor of the DPRK.
BC….You, of course, are correct. And thanks for making that good point.
Democratic Officials of Republik of Kalifornia. DORK
Wow. That’s a lot of pianos.
Got it, almost. Am I to understand that snarking about Joe Biden’s presence and performance at the Queen’s Funeral is off topic?
I would expect anything but mindlessness from him and you’d just be citing facts ….
I wouldn’t …
you know that is a good question. He’s not the real President and after last nights crazy interview there can be no doubt he is disintegrating rapidly
on this thread yes. On a thread about him being a moron- completely accepted.
People should read through the whole thread before posting. I see a repeat of at least 6 times on the thing…geez
I will say that I try to do a key word search for articles I might want to post.
If I find the article that I wanted to post, I will then comment of what my feelings are. If I find a similar one, I might post mine, especially if I feel it adds to the original post.
I agree wholeheartedly. Would be great if Treehouse could add the ability to sort comments by “newest”. I hate seeing the most commented response at the top of the queue…because early posters usually get most of the comments.
I do not even have the queue….I have to read all the comments. Some wierd thing
It would also be nice to be able to ‘collapse comments’ to move on to a new topic.
Just click “Home” link at the top left. Puts articles in descending chronological order with partial text and no comments.
Thank you, Sundance! This took time to read but so worth it. Every point made perfect sense in order to keep the comments readable and polite. Sometimes a reminder of the adage “If you can’t say anything nice then say nothing applies.”
Always a good reminder thanks for reposting more than once I have stopped myself from hitting send after reading what I wrote in anger these are trying times but c.t.h. is a very special place
This is a story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody and Nobody. There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it. Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it. Somebody got angry about that, because it was Everybody’s job. Everybody thought Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn’t do it. It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.
I’m stealing this!
Reminds me of: “Who’s on First, What’s on Second, and I Don’t Know is on Third”!
(Abbott and Costello, 1953)
I’m going to print that and hang it on my office wall. Thanks for sharing that!
Framed copy hung in my Mom’s bathroom for 15 yrs, now it’s in ours. 🙂
yikes thats to much for this ole woman i hope i havent been guilty. Thank you Sundance for all you do
I limit my fake news content to what Sundance posts. I read a lot of comments but skip through posting that are involved with a dialogue to get to the top with little to add. Thankful for this platform to give us real information.
Civility is always refreshing.
Yes. And lack of same is why many comments get trashed.
One thing I’d like to emphasize. You do not have to like every post. You don’t have to participate in every post. If it is political in nature, and you can respectfully present a counter view, that’s why we have a comment section.
However, if it is just a post containing content you aren’t interest in, and you just want to gripe and insult people, don’t. Other people enjoy this post, why can’t you let them? Don’t be a jerk.
“Don’t bear a jerk.”
That is actually the primary advice I regularly give my grandchildren. Even the two year old knows what it means.
<“Don’t bear a jerk.”>
It’s also advisable not to jerk a bear 🙂
An Attempted Tim Ryan Dunk on JD Vance = EPIC FAIL
What?
Well, this isn’t exactly something I expected to see as a comment on sundance’s article with the clear guideline against off-topic commenting.
🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
yeah .. I did post some questions further regarding the guidelines. Thanks for pointing it out.
Retired Magistrate here: Treat others the way you would like to be treated.
The, “GOLDEN RULE”.
😉
Too bad that there is not more folks that understood it, as it is meant to be.
GOD Bless~!
Many of us were taught that as children.
It’s one reason the world we grew up in was a much better place.
But don’t expect it in return. Saves much disappointment.
So from along those lines, could we have a ‘new’ topic line, from which you the editors of TCTH choose? Perhaps weekly?
Right now, its just PDJT and misc, plus, very important stuff TCTH produces, that covers over 75%, but I think your audience is much bigger in scope and knowledge, perhaps much bigger, more than even 75% coverage perhaps. I think we can easily cover about 99.99% based on all who comment on this board if you cast a wider net?
Perhaps, let’s add one more topic, the poster of the day, or something along these lines. Perhaps you can use the existing misc thread as a way to attract/gather them?
Trust me Sundance, I’m well aware of most of what you post, having lived it, but there are still other things you, and I know that I’m not aware by definition. All of us have only so much time to figure out God’s plan, let alone choose to align our lives with it.
Those who have found their way ‘and’ have knowledge also deserve to be recorded in their own weekly thread.
Perhaps a vote for the best post/topic?
What do you (Treepers all) think : need to be able to post on any current day when there are breaking news of top importance: (just giving examples) e.g. war has broken out, someone important in car accident or shot, for example. Just like 911, I rushed to share immediately it was happening as I happened to be reading news on the then Drudgereport. I have always thought yes, it’s off-topic – shall I make the unnecessary proclamation and then post thereafter? Give enough time for fact checking and research?
That’s one of the reasons for the open thread — the OPEN thread — NOT the presidential thread, which often is used as an open thread
ok thank you
If it’s urgency is deemed too great to put it in an open thread then one is certainly free to email directly, [email protected], always at the top of every thread.
That is what I do thus far .. always tremulous it could be considered spam.Thank you – appreciate it.
If it were actually war breaking out, I would probably go ahead and put it in the Presidential thread…
…because dollars to donuts the person responsible for it would be the pResident.
But I would like to hear where the CTH staff thinks hot breaking news belongs.
Truth is, I check citizenfreepress frequently for that sort of thing, then check to see whether it’s here already (do a search), and if not, I put it on the Presidential thread.
CFP is more of a breaking news site than this excellent (and one of a kind) analysis site. I find them both very useful!
The Presidential is fairly free-wheeling on subject matter and significant matters are often shared there without any heartache that I can discern from responsible parties.
Anywhere else OT Butts are as suspicious as they are rude.
That series is quite remarkable. I enjoyed watching what might have been Jesus in real life with his disciples.
Thank you. I love guidelines. I read directions twice. I love Treehouse.
Question : Why is Biden routinely trying to set Kamala Harris up to fail yet again; judging by all of her remarkable failures .. and on top of that .. the most unpopular politician. Or is it really Biden who makes this next assignment? She’s now assigned to speak to young voters.
Who is behind this and who will benefit/step right into her role if Biden quits, she’s President. Who then becomes VP? Who then boots her for many legitimate reasons and VP becomes President?
Did you even read the post?
This post ‘Guidelines’
or the one my question is directed at? Can you give me a link to where there’s one different from where I read it?
#2. Please stay on topic. You aren’t.
ok
Post questions or breaking news on the open thread that’s posted every morning.
ok
I’m now thinking of a famous line from a central character in Cool Hand Luke…
🤦🏼♀️ 🤦🏼♀️ 🤦🏼♀️ 🤦🏼♀️
(I hope I’m not breaking the guideline about being kind by indulging in the also-suggested humor…)
I see what you did there – LOL!
Read it all through again and redigested it. Thank you
Can I add,
Just be kind to people here.
We all get irritated and go through the ups and downs
that come with living in 2022.
When you disagree, please be respectful.
Ive already had my timeout, in the past.
And it really sucked.
Think twice before you hit that post comment button.
Select All, Delete, and touch Reply a second time to close the Post Comment window, is often my friend…
This is the one I hope people follow: Please avoid using acronyms
IKR?
😁
ISWYDT!
I agree although I know where to go in order to decipher them. A much larger irritant for me is spelling plurals with an apostrophe. That one just raises my hackles to no end, especially the Rino’s instead of Rinos, but I’ve seen a number of others.
I have been reading here for many years and have read these guidelines every time that they have been posted.
I have noticed every time that the posters who violate these guidelines the most are the people who are “tenured” and continue to post repetitive undescribed links/twitters, sometimes a dozen in a row, but seem to have immunity.
Mungrel made a fool of himself and was shown the door. John posted endless memes every day and was finally moderated.
I support those decisions fully. I don’t understand why some posters of massive “junk” seem to be immune from the rules.
Could it be related to donor status?
No.
Happy to hear that as I too have wondered whether one’s comments are related to one’s donor status, so thank you.
“Could it be related to donor status?”
Wow. You were sailing right along until that last sentence, which doesn’t fit with your first statement, “I have been reading here for many years….”
If you actually have been reading here for many years, you would know that Sundance doesn’t do what you suggest in your last line he would do.
I would love a daily thread for memes and humour. Except that I would spend so much time there, I would not have enough time for anything else 🙈
“Humor is also a good way to avoid fear. A laugh in a foxhole is priceless. Be kind and please be respectful… Manners really do matter… after all, this is a fellowship.” As a happy warrior, I completely concur.
I try to be careful when posting, but just yesterday I caught my typo too late for fixing. People are imperfect, but this post will help me do better.
Thank you for the review of “Guidelines for Comments “.
Have had issues with acronyms, even using the online acronym finder. Unfortunately, with 50 plus definitions, many depend on the context. 😣😭
Attempt to be civil and polite, don’t succeed always.
Have learned a lot, here, on the branch that I landed. Thank you Sundance etal and all the Treepers residing here.
there is something I read today by Emerald Robinson that is worth posting….can we start a post?
I saw that.
AAC–Acronyms Aren’t Cool
I get frustrated with folks who disregard #9 regarding “Citations.” Opinions aside, there seems to be an increasing number of posts that begin with the phrase “If this is true….” or something similar. I usually stop reading when I see those four words. There was a time (many years ago) in the Treehouse when almost every post here would be one readers could count on already being fact-checked and verified, if possible. I miss those days.
Thank you for a reply to, what is the current situation at the TreeHouse that results in less than great.
Thank you!
Very succinct and thorough overview.
The one thing I mentioned a few times is for those leaving links to PLEASE give some indication about what it relates to. Even just a couple of words!
Clicking on unknown sites is never comfortable. And Twitter is useless unless you are registered.
Twitter is annoying, but not useless, and one needn’t be registered.
I get more mileage from Twitter since I deleted my account, it’s easier to keep links of Twitsters I appreciate and while I have to click the Login to get to the X to continue to view it, it was even more aggressive when I was registered.
Sundance @TheLastRefuge2 is a great follow!
Yes, but I think would be better if people posted a screenshot or, at least, a description of what they linked.
Ja. Frustrating that some platforms don’t populate anymore.
For some readers the links to YT videos and to Twitter items are just URLs on the screen. Nothing else shows up.
Good advice.
👍 right on! 🇺🇲
Minor plus est. Vita brevis.
That one right there! Comments that intentionally ‘diminish’ are so obvious that I want to pinch the commenter.
Thank you SD and ‘Clean-up Crew’. Y’all are the best!
Doesn’t number 4 leave out the 57 znomes and intentionally misgender the woke? Ok, I’m 100% onboard with number 4 …
However, don’t you EVER challenge the Roman Catholic paradigm.
Read the post.
O/T … but anyone who believes 9-11 and the destruction of the WTC by controlled demolition designed by the Bush’s and the Joos … has got mental problems. I believe my statement similar to that … in response to some long-winded off- topic dissertation about the properties of metals and fire temperatures … blah blah blah … was taken down recently.
How about expanding this topic to suggest that self-appointed experts who can “prove” that 9-11 was “an inside job” … go peddle that stupidity elsewhere?
Sometimes when someone goes far astray in the way of inanity and we engage them, as we both recently did on the subject you note here, our Cat Herders catch wind of the situation and eliminate the offending posts which wipe out the responses thereto as well, even though we might be quite pleased with our rational defenses, collateral damage you might call it.
As far as banning subjects, I’m happy I don’t have such responsibilities myself, we have the most patient long-suffering folks running our Treehouse and I couldn’t do their job, I really couldn’t, breadth of opinion here is quite wide and such is encouraged.
I honestly think such a subject even as the one in question here could have taken place in a respectful non-flame-war fashion if folks were committed to these very guidelines and the spirit of inquiry. Yet the principal offending poster repeated a phrase multiple times about “not caring about feelings” or rules or whatever, as if the only way to promote the hair-on-fire du jour is to be as offensive and rude as possible to “WAKE PEOPLE UP!”
Of all the places to shout at people to wake up . . . Treepers are high info and seriously dedicated learners, the last people that need told such a thing. And of course, insisting that civility is for sissies doesn’t get anyone very far here either.
Thank you, Maquis … well said, and I agree on all points. And I am not serious about censorship of topics … just that I agree we should stay on topic and not wander off into our own personal topic de proselytize …
Indeed.
It is also frankly difficult to buy the assertion of sincerity of a poster so dedicated to upsetting and demonizing others.
Threads dedicated to remembrance merit an enhanced level of decency and most get that.
If it was me, please accept my humble apologies. Am being sincere.
I like reading your posts.
How could an Aggiegal ever go astray!?
I always wonder “what did I do?” when seeing the Guidelines for Comments reposted!
Me too.I’ll try harder to follow the guidelines. Maybe for me the Less said the better. I rarely post on any other site.
Thank you Sundance. I don’t post often, but have had an occasion where I did not follow the guidelines. It’s important now, more than ever to stick to these rules. This website is my rock, don’t want anything to happen. Thank you for all you do for us!
How about links with no explanation. That is not conversation. I consider them click bait and ignore.
I have had that happen to links I thought would populate but did not. When it does I try to reply to myself and offer and explanation.
Reminders are always helfpul, yet this is the 3rd such post on posting this year, unless I have missed one. The key point for this is, to me anyway, “PLEASE NARROW YOUR THOUGHTS – Quality beats quantity.” There is no difficulty in typing with clarity, this just requires about 20 extra seconds to engage the brain before moving the fingers.
Sundance can set any rules he wants to for anyone posting comments on his site.
By enunciating his rules, he’s being gracious to those who sometimes act like jerks, myself included.
I find it curious that so many “comment” on this very topic.
And here you are.
chuckling
Definitely agree with the ISP causing loading issues.
As a workaround: I have found that using a VPN located in an insignificant country results in much better loading of this website.
Sometimes I have the VPN set to USA initially, and thelastrefuge won’t load at all. But as soon as I switch countries this website is perfect.
I agree with what you are saying Sundance – as often as humanly possible, we do need to limit the discussion to the topic and be as concise as possible. Every once in a while something pops up that might be extremely important to investigate, but no one does. People like me come to this site because we work long hours all day and don’t have time to read everything to figure out what’s goin on in this country. We don’t have the time it takes to read reams and reams of documents and do investigations. People like you do that. So most of us come to this site and others to try to find the truth in all of this junk spiraling all around us. Sometimes we come across something we would like an answer to but that would be considered off-topic to post. I try to never post something off topic. I will retaliate and defend my point of view when someone gets personal but all & all I and virtually every conservative patriot person who comes here understands and abides by the etiquette.
Now, since this is about off topic stuff then I believe it is OK to post about an off topic subject right now – since off topic seems to be the topic.
I have come across this article: https://thetruthpatriots.com/cia-agent-malcolm-howard-claims-he-and-his-colleagues-blew-up-world-trade-center-7-on-9-11/.
Sundance, have you heard anything about this supposed CIA agent Malcolm Howard? Is this story legit? Can you dig into it? If he and 4 other CIA buddies rigged explosives and brought down WTC Building 7 then that is something worth exposing to the world. This is the only article I have seen anywhere on the topic. Every other site has completely ignored this. The MSM and 4th branch are ignoring it. Can you please shed some light on it for us???
Just wondering…did you deliberately set out to ignore rules about O/T, paragraphs, large blocks of text?
Oh, and the WTC conspiracy theory? Geesh. 🙄
Thank you for this reminder Sundance. I want to have and keep a branch in the Treehouse. Am the first to admit that I “lost it” over the weekend after reading comments before I spent time considering whether to reply.
Because of “this old house” among other issues, I have chosen to have all my equipment hard wired. And I will not have a smart phone, or social media sites. Ever.
Hard wiring everything keeps the mold and mildew from getting “excited and growing.” I am healthy now, but this took many years, and a considerable investment for me to heal myself and this old house from the health issues that WIFI and mold and mildew created for me and my family.
So if I was a “knee jerk ” this past weekend I want to apologize to all of my fellow Treepers for losing my patience
with others posting on this site. We all live on “different” branches in this Tree and in the Universe, but this is a place I feel most comfortable having a written discussion about it all.
Thank you Sundance and Treepers for giving me a branch.
Funny thing happened on the way to reading CTH blogs for yesterday.. All the emails had been routed to my junk folder.. including this one.. imagine that..
“Junk-mail filtering algorithms” can indeed be both a blessing and a curse.
Do not make the mistake, as I recently did, of “erasing junk mail” without first taking a look at exactly what your e-mail software (and/or Google …) had thus classified. You can easily thereby “overlook” something that is actually very important and … unless you are “looking” … never know it.
I have not had a television in my house for more than forty years. (Seriously.) And, I do not miss it.
Likewise, I have never used “Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etcetera.” Nor have I ever missed it.
But – every day I frequent the Treehouse.
I prize Sundance’s insights. And on most days, perhaps in an amazing(!) expression of hubris, I contribute what I hope are meaningful comments to a few of them.
“The Internet” can still provide “the most potent interpretation of the First Amendment than mankind has ever known.” But only if we are very careful to prize it and protect it.
And, as always, to “protect and respect” one another.
Love that photo, and naturally the cat is up front taking charge. “Psst! Hey buddy. You listening to me?”
Dear Sundance and Ad Rem(1),
I cannot properly express to you how much I appreciate your Christ like spirit, dedication, devotion, hard work, and much much more in founding this website and continuing its operations. To me and for me this is one of my primary sources for staying informed, educated, up-to-date, and inspired to not give up & to not give in to despair during troubling times.
Many of the articles along with the comments I have taken the time to Copy and Paste(2) into my Pages Document in numerous File Folders on my iPhone. Lately I have come to realize that in reality I have also been recording history in the making during my time on this earth.
There are subjects that Sundance has placed in some articles that have caused me to do additional, deeper, research simply because it is something that I previously knew nothing about, but now I have one, two, or more Pages Document of research articles.
The same holds true for various comments. Many comments have proven to be somewhat of a revelation to me so I end up doing additional research (not in an effort to disprove the comment, but to learn more about the subject matter) which has always proved that the person commenting was spot-on. That, in turn, has added even more Pages Document to my iPhone.
My apologies for using so many words to say that I believe that I am a better person and a more educated person because of Sundance and Ad Rem.
Thank You Both For Allowing Me To Come To The Treehouse(3).
Personal Footnotes
1) Latin, meaning; “To the matter in hand.” or “To the point.”
2) Fair-Use
Section 107 Title 17 of the Copyright Law of the United States
Fair-Use is for the purposes of criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research.
Personal Note: My claim to ‘Fair-Use’ is that of researching various subjects for teaching those subjects to myself. I am researching and teaching myself things that I did not know and would like to know.
3) We named our home; “The Treehouse” about three years before I ever heard Dan Bongino mention anything about The Conservative Treehouse, because there is a cedar tree (with branches) in the great room supporting a load bearing beam, which in turn supports the center of the roof.
All props go to Sundance Nomen. (I just follow closely behind with a mop and pail.) 😉
I probably get off topic a great deal but, in my view. Most everything wrong in America could’ve been avoided with adherence of our country’s founding documents.
Judging, Lawyers & policing warfare tyranny, seeing or, contortion of words that aren’t nowhere to be found in documents isn’t sound doctrine.
Laws weren’t meant to be easy or, frivolously made. They were only meant to be made by vast majorities with very limited federal government roles in our lives. Federal govt had only a handful of responsibility, most of which they refuse to do today. Power was meant to be local, so you could hold your local reps very accountable!
Taking the oath to the constitution was supposed to mean something or, everything. Taking oath, then trying to take it away from your fellow citizens is treason. Nobody or, group has that authority to take any other individuals natural God given rights away!!!! It is the very foundation we were built upon. All this hinged on moral men, not lying corrupted men. Not being held accountable by peers. Here lies the crux of everything wrong!
May I please ask if anyone has a solution – one time I had accidentally flagged a comment while scrolling, but I have no idea how to un-flag it. Does anyone know?
Thanks 🙂
There is no unflagging.
However, it takes a number of flags on a comment before it even shows up on their dashboard, so unless many are flagging it, unlikely to happen by accident, no one will ever see it or be affected by it.
As best I understand it, only the person flagging will see it, the person flagged will not, nor will anyone else.
Way I see it, it’s best to simply sneak away with none the wiser!
Thanks Maquis
