Dutchman, I just looked it up, the Florida governor IS limited to two terms at a time (8 years/4 per term) and must sit out a term before he/she can be eligible for another shot at the position. He/she can do this as long as they can, but there must be a 4 year haitis between the two terms and the next election attempt.
Article yesterday that he was scheduled to attend a big fundraiser in Utah with what the article called “GOP Mega Donors.”
The article played it both ways, so I guess you could say it was fair. First, it mentioned that when the usual Mega Donors for the party attend a fundraiser for anyone other than Trump, they are giving it the “Yes, no Trump.” Next, it said, on the other hand, no governor running for re-election would turn down a chance to meet those donors and not take their money. That would be foolish for not just his present but also his future.
They did, however, say that the guest list had been kept very close to the chest and that, in fact, the whole fundraiser had been kept secret as long as possible because many are guessing DeSantis and his people didn’t want to rile Trump.
Take it for what it’s worth.
There have been Trump hating GOP columnists who’ve been planting stories everywhere about DeSantis being preferred, DeSantis gaining ground on Trump in polls, etc. etc. This is just the usual jockeying, usually by the staffs who are, of course, pushing their guy/gal to run.

I don’t think it’s a bad thing for Trump to have a little competition thrown in his path. I doubt DeSantis will run, but if he keeps Trump on his toes, it can’t be bad, as long as it doesn’t get out of hand. After all, Trump did pretty well with a lot more competition in 2016.
Unfortunately, Governor DeSantis couldn’t be Donald Trump’s running mate. Both are residents of Florida and it isn’t allowed for both the presidential and vice presidential candidates to be from the same state.

It’s allowed, but Florida’s electors couldn’t vote for both Trump and DeSantis. I guess they could vote for Trump and someone else for VP, though it might be a function of Florida election law.
I used to think that and have since been schooled by other posters, that the Pres and VP can be from the same State. I am not certain, but it sounds like if that is the case, then they get only one, not 2 electors for certification. We need to hear from a Constitutional Legal scholar regarding this.
I think Governors are more important than Presidents at this point.
We need multiple Governors to nullify the feds for breaking the Constitutional Contract.
States need to begin kicking feds out of their states, stop sending taxes to D.C., nullify federal laws outside of Constitutional bounds, confiscate all federal property within their state including bases and Nukes and start making Trade and Security deals with each other.
The constitution is NOT a contract. As provided in the preamble, “We the People” are inherently sovereign and withdrew our grant in part from the states and vested it in a new government. Your recourse is Article V if you can get 3/4ths the states to concur (so 13 states have a veto over any change).
We need Governors to stand up to this regime who flaunt Federal Laws all the time, including ignoring Federal laws against allowing entry for illegal aliens.

Trump won in 2016 for one reason, he won the Rust Belt states that Republicans had long abandoned. That will never happen again. Jared was in charge and his priorities were elsewhere. Jared also invited Karl Rove back in the fold. In 2020 Trump, Jared, WinRed and the RNC went back to losing the Rust Belt states and thus the election. Getting millions more votes is irrelevant. Jared had 100% control of the campaign, along with 100% control of the White House, would cut off Dr. Scott Atlas in Covid meetings so he couldn’t give information we desperately needed. Jared is also 100% in charge of Trump’s lucrative post presidential life, its many revenue streams, and has loaded them with open borders gloablists like himself. It’s not just the Ivanka connection, Jared brings financial benefits to Trump. In 2016 I voted for Trump’s promised normalized relations with Russia and an end to US military aggression, but I got the opposite. Congress will not vote to reduce their powers, Judical waits for court cases that never come from DOJ, while the FBI continues to arrest political opponents.
The answer is to deconstruct the entire federal government, remove 90% of government agencies, wall the border, remove international airport designations, confiscate any transport used to move illegals, remove all Mexican and American buildings 1 miles from the border.
In addition, create specialized assault teams to surround US processing plants and arrest illegals working at them. Process them for removal.
Until these steps are taken it’s all conversation and the UniParty continues to win.

I have to observe that Almighty God chose His people and even they went astray from His plan for them.
