Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

Early in July is when we usually start getting Indiana sweet corn. No matter if you boil it, mic it, or soak it in salt water in the husk and then grill it, there is none better. Real butter and fresh ground black pepper is all I want on it.
The taste test/validation for sweet corn (for me) is to simply peel back the husk and dig in. And, you are correct, if it passes the taste test, it really doesn’t matter how you prepare it.
Eat it while you can, before they put all of it in your gas tank. (Save some for the chickens, beef, swine,…..)
I don’t care how high the price gets, I will not buy any E-fuel if I can possibly avoid it.
Remembering past times, better times. Long may you wave Tuba Skinny . . .
Saturday Skinny Yeah! 🙂
Yep! 🙂
One more . . .
Thank you Garrison. This was a great way to get me going this morning. Wonderful beat! Makes you want to dance the day away. Loved it. I watched the video of the NO police harassing the players. Very sad.
Yeah . . . let’s have some fun again!!
Thanks for Tuba Skinny. A fine listen and an A-1 emblem of the resilience of on the street music post Katrina.
I got to see them a few weeks ago, never thought I would have the opportunity! They were amazing, fantastic, fun, fabulous.
They say they will be back through in the fall, and I hope to catch them again. The venue was low ceiling w/that foam stuff, the sound was incredible, they should have recorded the show. I talked to the washboard player and said they had not thought to do a live CD, but will ponder it.
Love their stuff.
So nice, Garrison. It’s so clear Tuba Skinny are really enjoying themselves. They were the group whose name I couldn’t recall when I sent you the information about Christina Pluhar, whose ensemble enjoy the same camarderie.
Their music, all Dixieland really, is infectious. These older videos show a larger ensemble. The current band is much reduced but still very good. Sadly, there’s a recent video of them being harassed by the NO police. . . for playing music on the street. Post pandemic ‘Nawlens just ain’t the same it seems.
Sigh…. There are just some people…jobsworths I call them…who just can’t stand to see people enjoying themselves. Those who are like that take a perverse pleasure in ruining others’ enjoyment. You can actually see in their faces they are getting a thrill out of doing it.
As I said yesterday and will repeat because of the truth in it, some people just drain the “nice” right out of you.
Morning Ya’ll 😉 🙂
Maybe if we play this first one at the same time it’ll make the demoncraps, rino’s, commie heads explode!
Morning has broken Like the first morning.
Blackbird has spoken Like the first bird.
Praise for the singing;Praise for the morning;
Praise for them, springing Fresh from the word.
Sweet the rain’s new fall Sunlit from heaven,
Like the first dewfall On the first grass.
Praise for the sweetness Of the wet garden,
Sprung in completeness Where God has passed.
Mine is the sunlight;Mine is the morning
Born of the one light Eden saw play.
Praise with elation,Praise ev’ry morning,
God’s re-creation Of the new day.
Prayers for all the kind souls gathered here this Caturday,
Prayers for Ad Rem,Menagerie,Stella,WeeWeed,
Prayers for our friend Sundance for his recovery,
And Thanks be to God.
Good morning,.Casco!🌷 I left a small message for you yesterday on discovering you were home and all was well.
I found the following on the most wonderful site American Digest. It struck me very forcefully, and seems to marry well with the lyrics you posted…
“‘I call it Joy, which is here a technical term and must be sharply distinguished both from Happiness and Pleasure. Joy (in my sense) has one characteristic, and one only, in common with them; the fact that anyone who has experienced it will want it again… I doubt whether anyone who has tasted it would ever, if both were in his power, exchange it for all the pleasures in the world.
But then Joy is never in our power and Pleasure often is.'” ~~CS Lewis, Surprised by Joy: The Shape of My Early Life
The fascinating Gerard Vanderleun, whose most wonderful site this is (I know of no other like it) added…
“Maybe that is the real nature of the gift of joy; that it is a gift either contained within or wrapped around grace. And for such a gift we can only watch or wait.”
Casco, I am getting the sense you are experiencing such a gift this morning…so much so thatI can actually feel it with you. Welcome home! A thousand yeses, thanks be to God!🙏
“And top of the morning to you” my dear! I also left a message to you, albeit very late last night.Wishes for your son’s full recovery to health from his very serious operation and agreeing with the kindness and caring of our fellow treepers. My procedure was much less than his,and but for my extreme distrust of medicine today,a relatively simple operation.Just waiting for the biopsies to return next week reporting nothing malignant.
Having a cup of real coffee this morning (I usually drink decaf) and out here for a walkabout with the kitties. There is much to be sniffed, lizards to hunt, and birds and squirrels to chase and stock,to keep the kingdom safe. These are must do things on a regular basis dontcha know. lol.
I believe joy to be inner peace, which at times can be rather elusive.I find that trying to reduce stress helps immensely in this endeavor.Which is why I also like walkabouts…being outside in the morning sunshine, watching the kitties play, knowing that the wife is safe and marveling at nature that God provides for us.Color me crazy,I know, but we all have different things that bring us joy.For me,I think that it’s the simpler things that do it.
Sharing thoughts, experiences, music and prayers here with like minded,God fearing normal peers also helps provide joy…and with that I pray for “the rest of the day to you” my friend.
“Morning has Broken” …we used to sing this every so often at mass.Cat Stevens also has a wonderful rendition of it.Prayers for “following seas” for Sundance and Joy to the world. 🙂
How I agree! Joy…pure joy that is instantly recognizable…is elusive. But when it comes, for myself, I have always found it unexpected, thus more overwhelming and intense, no matter how fleeting.
I love your cats and their routine. And of course all must be investigated. There is a reason animal videos capture us. And just as every person is different, so are cats. All animals really. It has always fascinated me how sharp their eyesight is, finding something which I can’t see in the little microcosms of nature. I understand completely why your time outside with them is so relaxing.
When I think of Morning Is Broken, the only voice I hear singing it is that of Cat Stevens. It really is a hymn, isn’t it? Gentle and praising. I’ll always find an extreme irony in his choosing another path so antithetical to the lyrics of this lovely song.
I’ll recheck yesterday’s thread for your reply,my friend. We called it quits early after an unusually busy day. Blessings, Casco, and prayers continue for an “all clear”, which I fervently hope they won’t keep you waiting for.🙏💖
A hymn indeed. In the back of the Catholic seasonal missalette it is attributed to one Eleanor Farjeon – 1881-1965 and copyrighted in 1931.I also love Cats Stevens and had his greatest hits album, even though I tend towards much harder stuff normally.I also loved Seals & Crofts as one of my default soft rock group favorites.By the way,Jim Seals just passed away this week.Seals & Crofts was the first concert I ever saw back in ’76,with Jonathan Edwards opening.I believe they were Texas boys if I’m not mistaken.
Yes,animals really do all have their own personalities, and besides terrific eyesight, they have “bionic” hearing. They are like four legged alarm systems for us “getting hard of hearing” older folks,as well as being great companions.Mr. Garrison’s postings of “Dear Kitten” always resonates close to home for us,and they are so dead on,which makes them all the more so comical.
Continued blessings amiga… 🙂
We’ve had so many, both here and abroad. But the expenses involved in owning one are so out of reach now that our home is now without, and therefore just a house. We miss them but we must these days be practical.
So all the more do I enjoy everybody else’s tales of their beloved four legged family members. I live vicariously through them. And that’s nice.
Glad to see you today, CBB, and also super glad your procedure is over! I was thinking of you yesterday.
Bless you Slowcobra. In my humble opinion, charitable thoughts like yours are so indicative of the comraderie that is shared here on this site that is lacking on almost all other sites,or in our society even, for that matter. The world is a much better place because of the “Slowcobras” in it.Cheers to you amigo! 🙂
thanks for posting lyrics for this wonderful Cat Stevens song.
I know most here like the video links, but old ears miss the words
Wishing all treepers a Blessed Saturday
Most welcome Ms.Idaho and blessings to you and the hubby.
By the way, thank you for the links to TimeLabs. They are wonderful people and also speak most highly of you.We use them regularly and have been very satisfied with the service.Much appreciated.
Thanks for the report re: Time Labs. I, of course, am biased. Many of the supplements they manufacture were formulated by Doc (with their very apt input)
Short story. When I left the FAA in 1980 I spent several years adrift. A friend of mine got me selling supplements. It was a perfect job because if I was not up to doing anything I did not HAVE to. And early on, there were many such days.
As I interacted with Colorado doctors doing ‘non-traditional’ ‘stuff’ to help their patients, several highly recommended I check out working for a different company.
I did, and subsequently went to work for them.
I learned that Time Labs made most of the products they marketed- and that they were well respected world wide.
It was about 15 years later that I met the TL folks and had a tour of their manufacturing facilities – very impressive.
And, in 2009, when I started my own company, Nutrition Pure and Simple, I only sold products made by them.
Bottom line – Since the mid 1980s I have sold TL products (mainly to doctors and a few other health care providers) and Doc has used them to ‘treat’ his patients – including in a hospital setting.
What I liked the most was the non-pushy way he (I believe his name was Phil) informed me of the products and their benefits, with the sincerest of manners. He was very knowledgeable and was not in a rush to “get on to the next sale”.Truly refreshing.Very nice people you associate with ma’am.Thanks again! 🙂
Good morning, ms Idaho, and to Doc 💖. The old ones are the best ones. I think “music” today will never stand the test of time. Long after today’s pass, the “oldies” we remember so fondly will remain.
I remember bemoaning for younger generations the arrival of music videos. Our music produces memories that are uniquely ours individually. For them as they hear their music, I can’t help but think their “memories” will be those of the persons who compiled videos, not theirs. Word salad, so I hope I’m understood on this.
Good morning, Casco. A beautiful song. Glad your procedure went well. Praying tests are negative. Have a beautiful day with your kitties. Mine love to go out with me, too.
I laugh at their antics Marti, like they’re great hunters in the Serengeti or something.Absolutely hilarious to watch.
Thank you and a beautiful day to you as well my friend.I hope you enjoy your time outside with your little four legged friends as much as I do. Salud! 🙂
Thank you, jay. Brings tears to my eyes to hear these wonderful songs that I grew up hearing. I will be coming back here to play them many, many times. What a special present for me today. God Bless You.
You’ll like tomorrows selection too! 😉
I can hardly wait til tomorrow! My husband and I just listened to all of them again. We both love them. He listened to all of these songs as a young man working in his dad’s bakery in Philadelphia. They started work at 4:30am and enjoyed music from radio station in Wheeling, W.V.
In the name of the father and of the son and of the holy spirit. Amen
✝️ A devotion for today

Mornin’ comrade infidels.
And it appears they failed miserably.
The “hearings” are of course a political show trial having nothing to do with truth. Totally staged and coordinated and allowing no witnesses or evidence to dispute the claims being made. They are a trail with only the prosecutions witnesses and evidence being allowed to be presented.
The timing is not accidental, coming on the same day when inflation was reported to be 8.6% and nearly every CEO and economist not employed by the government or working for the “news” are declaring a recession imminent or at the very least stagflation ala the Jimmy Carter days, thus attempting to push that terrible and important economic news out of the limelight.
You see, everything they have tried to do to divert the people’s attention from the intentional destruction of the US economy has failed. What I was sure of from the beginning is now starting to become evident to the masses. Russia will indeed eventually win in Ukraine and all the propaganda pumped out by our government or media in support of Ukraine is not going the change that.
Neither a revitalization of a COVID scare or trying to bring a new scare with Monkey Pox has played well.
The Uvalde murders has run it’s course in the news cycle and gun control measures to follow are not going to be the kind of news that is going to grab the headlines to displace the economic news.
The bottom line is people are living the economy every day. They feel the effects every time they buy anything and especially at the gas pump and grocery store. Their attention to what is happening to their lives and the depleting of their disposable income and savings cannot be diverted by anything fabricated by the government or “the news” or their combined efforts. And of course the January 6th “hearings” are a perfect example of that.
And what the government and their “news” organs had better be really scared of is that now it appears that an increasing percentage of the public (46% in the last poll I saw) is waking up to the fact that their economic woes are not due to incompetency but are in fact being willfully created by this administration and supported by his party while the “news” tries it’s best to cover for them.
And yet despite the fact that they tried to blame Putin for inflation and that failed, the democrats seeing that their electoral prospects continue to decline are once again setting up to try and blame their probable coming losses on “Russian interference”.
They continue to expose themselves as the rabid Stalinists that the are. A disgraceful and unjust spectacle.
I noticed Amazon is now selling 2000 Mules CDs = $24.

Getting There (1)
Come to Me… —Matthew 11:28
Where sin and sorrow stops, and the song of the saint starts. Do I really want to get there? I can right now. The questions that truly matter in life are remarkably few, and they are all answered by these words— “Come to Me.” Our Lord’s words are not, “Do this, or don’t do that,” but— “Come to me.” If I will simply come to Jesus, my real life will be brought into harmony with my real desires. I will actually cease from sin, and will find the song of the Lord beginning in my life.
Have you ever come to Jesus? Look at the stubbornness of your heart. You would rather do anything than this one simple childlike thing— “Come to Me.” If you really want to experience ceasing from sin, you must come to Jesus.
Jesus Christ makes Himself the test to determine your genuineness. Look how He used the word come. At the most unexpected moments in your life there is this whisper of the Lord— “Come to Me,” and you are immediately drawn to Him. Personal contact with Jesus changes everything. Be “foolish” enough to come and commit yourself to what He says. The attitude necessary for you to come to Him is one where your will has made the determination to let go of everything and deliberately commit it all to Him.
“…and I will give you rest”— that is, “I will sustain you, causing you to stand firm.” He is not saying, “I will put you to bed, hold your hand, and sing you to sleep.” But, in essence, He is saying, “I will get you out of bed— out of your listlessness and exhaustion, and out of your condition of being half dead while you are still alive. I will penetrate you with the spirit of life, and you will be sustained by the perfection of vital activity.” Yet we become so weak and pitiful and talk about “suffering” the will of the Lord! Where is the majestic vitality and the power of the Son of God in that?
WISDOM FROM OSWALD CHAMBERS
Re-state to yourself what you believe, then do away with as much of it as possible, and get back to the bedrock of the Cross of Christ.
Good morning, Cat💖🌷
“And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever ~the Spirit of truth whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.
~~John 14:16-18~~
See? You do have the best Companion with you always. Who could want for a better one? Hoping so much your weekend is one filled with peace, given by the only source of true peace there is. 🙏😘
Good Morning Betsy!
You say the most wonderful things ❤️ We should try to bottle that spunkiness of yours. We’d be rich!!spiritually rich!!!!
Have a blessed beautiful day, my friends 😘
I need those reminders as well, Cat. Boy do I!!🙏
Betsy–I’m not one for scripture plus that whole lapsed Catholicism thing as well. I have read many times your praise of Oswald. So, I started reading it daily and I find great comfort there. Thanks so much. Have a great weekend
Thank you, Joe💖. I find Chambers a great comfort as well. And I have to say Charles Spurgeon’s devotionals always, always speak to me. Either, or, or both…I always feel more uplifted and in tune with God after reading them.
I hope your weekend is a great one as well. Blessings to you, sir. Bet😊
Hiya, Cat! Hope you are well. 🙂
“Our Lords word is not do this or don’t do that.”
We look at how the rainbow was highjacked, coexist becomes twisted. Man or woman is relative and marriage is a tax write off. And children are optional.
The only way you can love your neighbor is by loving Christ Jesus, that relationship has to be in place. Then the flow of all good is within.
Religion was twisted just the same, to control. It was never “bad” it was necessary to achieve what Jesus did. Now, it’s about relationship. Gods laws written on our hearts.
I listen to divorced men all day long who say they hate the ex, I ask “what did you see in her that made you marry her?” For an instant their demeanor changes, some admit the truth, some ignore it. The love is still there, and quite frankly that’s how all hate is birthed. The rejection or seemed rejection turns to hate. If you love Jesus as he says, heart, mind, spirit, all else falls into place.
Palerider, you made me think of this CS Lewis quote…
“Of all the bad men, religious bad men are the worst.”
I subscribe to this. And all of a sudden there seem to be so many. As he meant it, men and now women who shouldn’t be in the church.
And this…”children are optional” should have an addendum. “…and if you choose to give birth to them,” certain governments such as Canada are now saying, ” they are ours.”
We’ve been turned inside out awfully quickly.
When you can’t win the argument, then just shut your opposition up!

Good morning everyone. Happy Saturday. Or, as it were when we were kids, happy all day play day (after the morning cartoons and cereal this is).
Being a boy, all we needed was a bike and a baseball glove (over the handlebar). Then peddle up to the nearest park/field and it was game on with whatever frolicking came afterward. Wasn’t it great to live life without a care in the world?
Hope you all still cherishes those years. Not a Saturday goes by that I don’t reflect on them. Saturday morning is childhood reflection time just the same as Sunday morning is faith and gratitude reflection time.
Make the most of your day today. And this evening, let the rally cry be “Gentlemen, start your grills”
God bless you and yours, each and every one of you. Cheers!
Mornin’ Levi. Amen!
Good morning, Levi. We in this house are doing the same reminiscing every day, more so the further we drift away from not only those days in both time and nature.
I call those memories “mental cocktails” as many here have heard me refer to them in posts past. The term was left to me by my remarkable mother in law whom I loved dearly.
In the little order of service at her funeral was included a poem which name and author I cannot remember…but this I do remember…the last line was “she was happy, and she knew it.”
Thank goodness and grace for the gift of being able to recall and revel in those glorious times past, and for having had those times and experiences to recall which make us smile. Blessings to you, sir.🙏💖
Good morning Betsy. Mental cocktail. Wow, those two words for those specific memories are as pitch-perfect as can be.
Thank you and cheers!
Most welcome!😉
Oh, yes! The best summer Saturdays when we would play outside all morning and then one of the neighborhood dads would take a turn and take a bunch of us to the Kiddie Matinees (the only air conditioned place in town)—popcorn was 5 cents and you’d laugh yourself silly at the cartoons and grab your friends’ hands when the scary parts of the serials or the movies were on screen. How blessed to have grown up in such a time!!
Good morning Packrat. When I tell people I’ve lived a charmed life, it begins with those times you describe. Blessed we are. Cheers!
Simpler times, packrat, simple pleasures. The best.
Days when children were tough and imaginative. Swing seats in parks were wooden boards you could stand on and swing yourself up to be parallel with the top bar – felt like flying! Climbing trees to find that perfect place to see everything and maybe a favorite reading place. Playing Red Rover with the neighborhood gang. Walking 2-3 miles with friends to buy an ice cream cone at Carnations. Good times!
Good morning Riley. The very best of times. Cheers!
Wonderful Levi…same here. Also digging clams, gathering periwinkles or mussels (they were bait back then) to go fishing for mackerel, pollack and tommycod with my dog. Blueberry picking along the bridle paths to make bread and pies, picking apples and gathering fiddleheads, etc.
These are days LONG GONE,but I enjoy the “mental cocktail” inebriation from time to time, and wonder if such things even exist anymore.
Blessings to you as well sir. 🙂
Beautiful, Casco. I only got to experience things like you describe every other year when we visited my grandparents farm in Jacksonville. It was hundreds of times better there than when Disney World came along. Cheers!
😍😁
When I was a little kid–Saturday was Grandpa day. Out in the countryside visiting his pals from the Old Country, sitting on his lap and driving the car. Then later on it was serious pickup baseball; then being at the park pool and enjoying the transformation of our school gal pals. I am truly sad that my grandkids don’t have this.
Good morning Joe. I feel the same as you for our grandkids. They deserve so much more, a richer childhood. Cheers!
Those were serious simple pleasures, Joe. I’m sorrowful for my grands as well.
Mornin’ Treepers
Glory to God for all things
Have a blessed day.
Good morning Lonestar. Always and amen. Cheers!!!
Good morning, Lonestar🌷Another scorcher on deck. We have a wonderful father and son who mow our yard and trim, usually on a Saturday. They showed up yesterday at the hottest part of the day. I felt so sorry for them in this heat, but we kept them swimming in cold water and our favourite, diet ginger ale.
Hoping that ERCOT doesn’t fail us now.
Think I’ll try the diet ginger ale!
It is just so refreshing. My favourite. We buy it in the 12 to a box carton. For a while we couldn’t find it.
Then the other day at my neighbourhood Walmart where I do my shopping there, amongst all the other like boss of various flavours, sat one lone box. I grabbed it, moving faster than I have in a lonnnng time.
I felt as if all my birthdays had come at once!!! Ice cold with a bit of a bite.
Ignorant autocorrect put in a word I didn’t type…curses autocorrect!!
Ginger ale is good when one is ailing…no matter which body part is afflicted.
When I was sick in bed with a virus or somesuch as a girl~when my dad came home from work he would bring a glass of ginger ale up to me in my bedroom. Complete with ice cubes and a flex straw, I always felt better after he sat on the edge of my bed to talk to me as I sipped the tasty, bubbly drink.
To this day–and I am now 67 years old–ginger ale when I don’t feel well is comfort food to me.
Vernors would do it for me. No other ginger ale would work as well.
My ex used diet coke the same way. Tried to share the wonders of Vernors Ginger Ale when she was sick, but nope, didn’t work for her. Just Diet Coke.
Though sometimes I wonder if that was solely to hide that she was drinking and she wasn’t really sick.
My doctor dad would always insist on ginger ale for me when I was small and had a tummy bug.
I loved it so much that half of me hoped when I was ill it was a tummy bug. Such is the thinking of a child.

Morning
He arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him. Luke 15:20
The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever. He hath not dealt with us after our sins; not rewarded us according to our iniquities. For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us. Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him. Psa. 103:8-13

PLEASE PRAY FOR ONE ANOTHER
Yes, we all need prayer…
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow, that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ.
AMEN.

“For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.”

Thank You, Jesus, for blessings received and prayers answered!!!
Another gorgeous morning here at my Indiana homestead. Rain last night but this morning it is cool, currently 60 deg. F and the sun is shining. I noticed that for the first time I have a pair of Red Breasted Grossbeaks at my feeders. I have seen them before as transients, just stopping by for a rest and feed on their way further north, but this year a pair stayed it seems. Also have a Mocking bird nesting in the neighbors back yard. I hear him going through his repertoire when I go out to leave on a run in the early morning long before morning twilight. This ones repertoire is quite extensive it seems.
Got my yard mowed yesterday and Steve and Betty got theirs done also, so it all looks like a park out here. I went and checked out Steve’s little retention pond in the back NE corner of the grass field. The tadpoles have their back legs and are losing their tails. About time for a Blue Herrin to show up and thin their ranks, as seems to happen every year.
The hay in the field behind the back grass field to the East is ready to be cut. Almost past ready really. I reckon they only plan to get two cuttings out of it this year because if they wanted to possibly get three, they would have cut that hay two weeks ago. Behind that hay field further East is pasture where other neighbors keep several horses and a donkey. The hay from that field is where their fodder comes from with the excess being sold.
A donkey or a mule is about as great an alarm system and guard animal as your going to find. Theirs kicked the crap out of some invading coyotes last week probably coming it to pick off some chickens or one of the Peacocks that they also keep. We heard the ruckus.
Behind that pasture further East is another pasture where Black Angus graze. They also raise the alarm sometimes when something disturbs them.
I simply would not like to be anywhere else this time of year.
I watched a heron, a rather big one, take every single huge koi out of our small pond in the back of our garden in Wales. I was horrified. Tried a makeshift scarecrow to no avail. But a fella’s gotta eat, so I shouldn’t have been surprised.
The repertoire, as you put it so well, of the mockingbird is phenomenal. One morning I stood and counted the numbers in one which nested and raised babies right outside our office window. I had to stop at 27 variations on a theme. It was glorious.
Last night I was remembering that in Wales we had a detached, 2 level garage next to our house.
And we had bats, nonrabid and a protected species in the UK. Every night at dusk, one by one they’d fly out. I knew we had them but had no idea how many. So one evening I stood at the front door with a small enclosed porch and started counting. I gave up at 180…there were many more.
Other than at dusk, we ever knew they were there. Until one night (and I’ve posted this story before) one flew in the house through the back open top half Dutch door into our small lit morning room and proceeded to fly round and round and round completely disoriented.
I managed to turn out the lights, whereupon he got his bearings and flew out.
They really are fascinating and certainly kept flying insects regulated. The wonders of nature, each creature with a purpose.
That dented your bank account. Koi, especially big ones, are not cheap. Steve’s sister had exactly the same thing happen to her. Said if she tried to replace what was taken one for one and size for size it would cost several thousand dollars
They were given to us by a friend who was getting rid of his pond. I can’t tell you how sick I felt and still feel to this day if I think about it. They were huge. No expenditure was made, except for the broken heart watching them disappear.
From my point of view, you are living in heaven based on your wonderful description of the land and neighbors in your surround. Tadpoles . . . have not seen those since I was 10. My cousins lived on a farm in Michigan and that was my most favorite place to visit as a child.
Yes, this time of year, it is wonderful. Across the street and two down to the south they have chickens so I hear crowing quite frequently. Also across the street they have two turkeys. Sherry can imitate their gobble really well and they rarely fail to answer.

I only have vague memories of mentions of this guy, but, if you are a Christian or Jew + like Space, his books are amazing…. Using ancient texts including the Bible + Logic + physics, he made predictions about Venus + Mars + Earth that got him ridiculed at the time but proven correct after the space probes were launched in the 1960s…

The Ten Commandments
The real reason that we can’t have the Ten Commandments in a courthouse.
You cannot post “Thou Shalt Not Steal,” “Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery,” and “Thou Shall Not Lie” in a building full of lawyers, judges and politicians.
It creates a hostile work environment!
Weatherbell’s preseason hurricane impact scale forecast is out. While globally it is almost certainly going to be another lower than average year on the ACE (Accumulated Cyclone Energy Index) the Atlantic is almost certainly going to have a significantly greater than average ACE again.
However the potential locations for TSs and Hurricanes coming ashore have changed from last year. The higher the number, the more likely for hurricanes come ashore.
10 – Florida west to the Mississippi- Louisiana state line and up the east coast all up to the Virgina-N. Carolina state line.
6 – Caribbean & the Bahamas.
4 – All the Western Gulf from Louisiana to the Yucatan.
3- From the tip of the Yucatan south to Central America
3 – From the N. Carolina-Virginia border all the way up to the Canadian east coast islands.
Joe says that there will be close in development like last year but also some longer track storms. Those longer track storms are the ones most likely to threaten the mid Atlantic states and north. Joe says he will be “very surprised if there are not one or two hurricane threats to the North East.” There has not be a hurricane hit in the North East US since 1991!

Watch, Dear Lord, with those who wake or watch or weep tonight, and give Your angels charge over those who sleep. Tend to Your sick ones, O Lord Jesus Christ, rest Your weary ones, bless Your dying ones, soothe Your suffering ones, and shield Your joyous ones, and all for Your love’s sake. Amen
