Last Friday the Biden administration raised the mandatory amount of biofuel, specifically ethanol, that must be blended within the U.S. gasoline supply. The previous amount of 10% (summer blend) was raised to a year-round 15% (waiver) by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). This is likely to lead to two sets of bigger issues, less food and higher gas prices.
♦ First issue. – The Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) is a government mandate, passed in 2005 and expanded in 2007, that requires growing volumes of biofuels to be blended into U.S. transportation fuels like gasoline and diesel every year. Approximately 40 percent of corn grown in the U.S. is used for ethanol. Raising the amount of ethanol required in gasoline will result in the need for more biofuel (corn). With farming costs and outputs already under pressure this could be problematic.

♦ Second issue – The EPA enforces the biofuel standard by requiring refineries to submit purchase credits (known as Renewable Identification Numbers, or RINs) to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) proving the purchases. This enforcement requirement sets up a system where the RIN credits are bought and sold by small refineries who do not have the infrastructure to do the blending process. They purchase second-hand RIN credits from parties that blended or imported biofuels directly. This sets up a secondary income stream, a trading market for the larger oil companies, refineries and importers.
The RIN credit trading platform is similar to what we might expect to see if the ‘Carbon Trading’ scheme was ever put into place. However, now that summer biofuel requirements for blended gasoline have gone from 10% to 15%, the price of the RIN credits will likely jump. This will cost refineries billions in additional expenses,…. which will mean the cost of the gasoline from the refineries will increase,….. which will mean the cost of the gasoline at the pump will go higher.
The EPA theory is that RIN credits should be expensive thereby forcing all oil refineries to invest in infrastructure that makes the blended fuel. All of the infrastructure from the refinery to the gas station would need to be modified to facilitate the new 15% RFS standard. Again, higher prices at the pumps as a result of oil companies and refineries needing to spend billions on upgrades. Which brings us to issue number three.
♦ Third Issue – “Ethanol is a valuable source of octane in finished gasoline, but it is chemically different than petroleum gasoline and cannot be used in concentrations above 10 percent in small engines — like outboard boat motors, motorcycles, lawnmowers, generators or chain saws — or in any cars made before 2001. Complicating matters further, most cars on the road today still aren’t warrantied to run on gasoline with more than 10 percent ethanol. Retail stations also must have compatible infrastructure in order to sell gasoline with higher ethanol blends.” This issue is known within the industry as “The Blend Wall.”
The net result of Joe Biden’s EPA raising the mandatory amount of biofuel that must be present in the U.S. gas supply is this:
(1) Less food as more corn is needed for ethanol.
(2) Higher prices for finished and blended gasoline.
(3) Vehicle engines breaking down at a much higher rate.
The predictable Biden outcome is the absolute worst scenario for the middle-class.

WASHINGTON – “The American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers group, which represents refineries, called the 2022 figure “bewildering and contrary to the administration’s claims to be doing everything in their power to provide relief to consumers.” The group said unachievable mandates will increase fuel production costs and keep consumer prices high.” (more)

The plan, I think, is the old one of world dominion in a new form . . . the money-power and revolutionary power have been set up and given sham but symbolic shapes (‘Capitalism” or “Communism’) and sharply defined citadels (‘America’ or “Russia’) . . . Such is the spectacle publicly staged for the masses. But what if similar men, with a common aim, secretly rule in both camps and propose to achieve their ambition through the clash between those masses? I believe any diligent student of our times will discover that this is the case.

stop using the word “Liberal” like that. You look stupid.
Thanks for sharing, Colkitto. Very thoughtful statement by Reed.
Biden Broke That!
Deliberately raising the price of Fuel and Food at the Same Time. And, shortening the life of you gasoline vehicle while degrading the entire gasoline economy.

Utter madness..hopefully CTH supporters were heeding the warnings of Sundance and others.

Actually, Dekester, we are both watching our countries being systematically destroyed from within. I don’t know how you are feeling, but I would love some answers or ideas on how to change this.
Jan. 6 election fraud protest was undermined and manipulated by the left. So was the Canadian Trucker protest.
The government is taking away our right to defend ourselves while they surround themselves with walls and armed security. Canada is ahead of the US here.
Most of our conservative leaders are traitors. Yours too.
I could go on and on.
We do a lot of idle talking on this site, but what we need is a movement of smart and creative action that is legal. We have a leader… Trump. When are the people going to organize effectively behind him?
Who is your leader, the one fighting for Canada?
We do not have one. Anyone would have to bi lingual and that ain’t happening.
We are “ tribing “ up.
Sand in the gears..looking after each other, and are actually doing remarkably well.

The term ‘Democide’ is in wide spread use these day and for good reason. It’s true that millions of low information Americans have voted for their own demise. Sadly, what many of us see as obvious vaccine murder and control, and incredible power ceded to politicians and un-elected bureaucrats is now looked on as progress by many weak minded or just plain evil voters.
It’s our own fault.
For those looking : WaWa sells ethanol free gasoline. Ethanol dries out (and rots) components in internal combustion engines (except 2 cycle engines, where you mix oil+gas).
Don’t know how long the enviro-nazis are going to allow that to continue, but until then…
Best,
skipper
Maybe IC engines need to be less susceptible to corrosion in order to make ethanol a more viable option.
Ceramics, stainless steels or composites? Are Wankel rotary engines better?
Non goffer,
More specifically ; ethanol (alcohol) dries out mostly the rubber or plastic components. i.e. fuel lines, gaskets, o-rings, grommets, etc..
My chainsaws were the painful lesson for me.
I meant my weedwhacker. My chainsaws (one of them almost 50 years old!) are good as gold. And maybe more valuable..
There have been vehicles marketed as being dedicated for use with fuels containing ethanol. Degradation of softgoods had been addressed, but legacy engines do have problems with the new “environmentally-friendly” fuels. CA has addressed the emissions problems by banning gas powered gardening tools. Either corded or battery are the only ones authorized. I’m not sure if the law has gone into effect yet, but there are many leaf blowers, weed whackers, edgers, chain saws and mowers still being used currently.
Even if replacement parts were suddenly available how many people would know how to (DYI) or would pay to have an engine torn apart and retrofitted?
The labor cost alone would be prohibitive.
Fuel injectors, engine seals, exhaust components.
Probably cheaper just to replace the whole engine … until they outlaw that option.

One of our biggest problems, is that we never seem to be able to identify who is a bad actor until after the fact.
Throwing a wrench into the system or otherwise disrupting it, requires a complete understanding of how the system works, down to the nuts and bolts level. I don’t mean elected officials, I mean those that remain between elections. THAT system must be disrupted.
We don’t have that understanding, and thus, we lack that ability.
How do we get that understanding?
Start with the presumption that ALL politicians and bureaucrats are bad actors until they clearly prove otherwise.
I get that, but still.
Take football. We know all the positions, we know what those positions are for and what they do, and we know the players that fill them.
In this game, we don’t even know half of the positions, let alone the players than fill them.
Certainly not from ABC and their co-conspirators in the media.
That’s easy. Monitor the bank accounts of greasy politicians to see where the bribes are originated.
Democrats are never held to account for the bad effects of their policies because their Intentions are always “good”.
Pure-gas.org, a crowdsourced site for finding ethanol free gas. Go there and find your nearest station offering pure gas.
Closest station to me is about half an hour away, and is more expensive, obviously, but the mass switch to E-15 will make up for it in maintenance costs you won’t have to pay and better gas mileage.
It’s more ex pensive alright, like $6/gal
How can they do it if the government is mandating the 15% ethanol?
Here in coastal Florida it is called marine gas. Boats have to use non-ethanol. They cannot use E-85 etc. So, go to the marina or similar gas station offering marine gas and gas up. CK Mart at Bloxham Cut-Off and Woodville Hwy has it and so does Rocky’s on Coastal Hwy (Hwy 98) if you are in or near Wakulla County, FL.
Because the gov’t is NOT mandating 15% ethanol
Thanks; Georgia has quite a few near me.
We are okay, for now.
Thank you. There are several in my little town. I’ll suck up the cost to save the car.
Sundance,
There are fourth and fifth issues that often gets overlooked with the use of ethanol as fuel:
Fourth Issue: Ground contamination due to leakage of fuel that includes ethanol. Ethanol is proven to have a huge adverse effect on the environment if leaked. Not that petroleum liquids are environmentally friendly (they aren’t), but the addition of ethanol dramatically increases the negative impact.
Fifth Issue: In terms of negative affect on our environment, corn is perhaps the worst of all the crops that can possibly be grown on this planet. Corn requires a huge amount, relative to other crops, of fertilizer as well as pesticide in order to assure a bountiful harvest.
For most of the breadbasket region of the US (the Midwest) these chemicals eventually wash into the Mississippi river and into the Gulf of Mexico. There is a “dead zone” in the Gulf that begins at the Mississippi delta and expands from there.
The dead zone is an area that bacteria are now thriving on the excess fertilizer. This blankets the top of the region and kills plant life below, which leads to no fish. The size of this dead zone has been shown to be directly proportional to the amount of fertilizer U.S. farmers are using up-river.
So, long story short:
And the fertilizer that corn needs most is nitrogen which is produced in bulk at fertilizer plants using natural gas. Heat your house or fertilize the fuel(corn) for your automobile. Either way you’re burning hydrocarbons.
More Roundup to grow the corn. Nobody likes to talk about the dead zone at the mouth of the Mississippi where the fish that are caught have impossibly high levels of glyphosate.
https://www.kunc.org/environment/2016-09-23/scientists-search-for-new-ways-to-fight-gulf-dead-zone
Sugar cane is twice as efficient as corn in producing ethanol. I’m guessing that sugar beets are better than corn too.
Crop rotation with something that fixes nitrogen in the soil reduces the need for fertilizers. Maybe soybeans or some other legume that is used to make meat substitute.
Ethanol requires a vast amount of groundwater to produce. That is the county would not issue a permit to build an ethanol plant near me a few years ago.
I live in Germany and learn here what’s going to come. Currently gas stations here sell “super” and “super E10”. I have always avoided the E10. But in our village there are 2 bioreactors, that produce biogas from corn. They produce electricity and heat for us to buy (I keep my oil engine for heating my house, but how long can I afford it …). So for the last years nearly everybody has been growing only corn (with the negative effects …). My complaints with the mayor have been blocked.
Interesting enough this year, eveybody is growing wheat. As wheat prizes have gone through the roof. I heard the bioreactor people will import the corn from Switzerland. But that also means heat-prizes will go up. And the fertilizer prizes are going through the roof … Brave new world.
Yay, Hefeweizen.
4 days ago, 6 3 2022, as customers pulled up to the gas station – with the lowest prices in an urban area –
the pumps were tagged 87 octane ‘out’
unavailable (the 10% ethanol), the lower priced fuel.
Only the 40 cent higher priced 91 Octane was available.
Customers drove by.
Some customers paused, spoke to the attendant
” when is the 87 coming?”
Answer:
” not sure, it better be soon”
Others chose to partly fill a tank, to buy some travel time, to keep moving, to accomplish the missions / journey’s.
Some gas is better than no gas.
Maybe some other gas station down the road has the affordable 87 octane fuel wanted?
Per the above article, all stations were facing a new rule
( and the station attendents had no clue, or were asked by boss, to not explain, the inexplicable non rational).
They just do their attending… job.
( hint, its not the attendent faults,
it the bosses, boss… faults )
[ incrementally, that is not making things better.
And their denial of their miss policies having adverse affects, does not help people either.]
And the untold insatiable miss controllers like the control feeling…and the cash flow…and make up excuses, without accountability…
at
others costs ( less freedom, and funds…)
Credit card maximums being reached are upcoming,
then the repossessors etc. arrive.
Imho
Ethanol free gas at home – how to make it ;
or
This will cause people to search for stations selling pure gas to mix in their tanks. Both the demand and the price of pure gas will skyrocket.
I just searched, there’s nowhere within 200 miles for me and I’m in socal.
It’s a major inconvenience but there are many videos on how to remove the alcohol from gasoline blends.
For some it may be worth doing considering the cost and or availability of new engines.
This little news buster will not go meekly into the night.
Too many of the 340+ million will be negatively effected and this will include large multi-billion dollar industries, including farmers.
As with liddle petey’s announcement yesterday that the US GOVERNMENT is going to take over all food, medicine, you name the industry and supply it to the American people based on “EQUITY” is absolutely MORONIC!!!!
Of course this is the pipe-dream of the mentally ill deviants running this operation, however, we must be ever-mindful that we are living in a Dictatorship with a King sitting on the throne (no pun intended)!
Remember we are a Constitutional Republic and yes the EPA can attempt to dictate this and dictate that, just like the CDC was dictating terms of “free rentals” over the rights of the landlords. How well did that work out? In Reality?
These insane psychotics will continue daily to deliver news such as this to the American People just to keep us unsteady, scared, and going into panic mode. Which is the last reaction we should be having.
These little destructive news releases and Demands are NOISE to intimidate the masses into fear and compliance; do the exact opposite!
Do you really believe all businesses, industries, and the majority of the American people are going to fall on their knees and just comply?
I don’t.
Exactly. The little DC bastards will fear monger anything and anyone, especially the elderly, driving 20 year old cars and living on–what–$20 a week? Those pukes in DC don’t give a whelp about you. Help your neighbor and stay tight…
He is trying to shorten the life of your gasoline vehicle on purpose.
2 of my cars won’t run E15. Great
I have a 3/4 ton diesel truck. A 2000 model Jeep that runs best on pure gas, and a bunch of small engines.
I have nothing that will burn ethanol gas.
This really sucks.
Will another factor in this be increased transportation costs? It is my understanding that the corrosive nature of ethanol makes it hard on pipelines, so it is largely transported by tankers. Maybe I am wrong about this, and, if so, I’d appreciate being enlightened.
He’s getting in everything he can before November; not that a republican majority will mean too much, at least the dissolution of our Republic will be slower.
Yep. We’re in a van headed off a cliff. The Dems want us flying off at 90mph, the Reps want to follow the speed limit and go over the cliff at 45.
Get ready for your local gas stations to undergo new tank installation, with the EPA looking over their shoulders, to store the new E-15 – they’ll have to or no car built after 2001 will be able to fill up.
Another benefit, E-15 corrodes engines and will not work in small motors at all [lawnmowers, etc.].
On top of that, E-15 lowers your mileage by about 25%, so more fill ups at $10/gal.
And using that fuel will void your engine warranty, so you get those repair bills too.
So, yay.
It’s not going into all gas pumps nor will it replace 10% blend entirely. It is just allowing the sale of it during the summer months. Make sure what you have can run on it if you find yourself in a bind .
About E15 fuelE15 is a fuel blend of 15% ethanol and 85% gasoline. It can be used in:
It cannot be used in:
‘Senior Biden administration officials said the action will save drivers an average of 10 cents per gallon based on current prices, but at just 2,300 gas stations out of the nation’s more than 100,000. The affected stations are mostly in the Midwest and the South, including Texas, according to industry groups.”
“It’s not going into all gas pumps nor will it replace 10% blend entirely. It is just allowing the sale of it during the summer months.” – hilljack
——-VS——-
“DES MOINES, Iowa — The Biden administration on Friday set new requirements that increase the amount of ethanol that must be blended into the nation’s gasoline supply but reduce previous ethanol-blending requirements due to a plunge in fuel demand during the coronavirus pandemic.” – ABC NEWS
tbf, ABC is fake news :p
Everything this regime does and says is meant to deceive. And they don’t care if their lies are transparent. They are evil and must be destroyed.
No way car manufacturers can hit these insane MPG requirement targets foisted on them by the EPA with increased ethanol in gas.
Oh yeah! I forgot about that one. So much poop flying from this Admin it’s hard to keep track off.
Absolute insanity.
OMG. That crap gums up your engine!
I’m switching to premium in spite of the prices because I need my engine to keep running.
Honestly, who the hell are these people????
Oh Lord, please interfere with this Administration. They have declared war on us and in most cases we are powerless. I’m so glad YOU are in charge of this world. I know You will protect Your People. Amen.
If your engine is designed to run on 87 octane a higher octane is a waste of money.
What I noticed when, many years ago, I began to use ethanol blend was that the corrosive nature of ethanol actually flushed the gunk out of the system and into the fuel filter, which then plugged up. Changed the fuel filter and–hey presto–the problem went away and did not return.
The internet is truly amazing used correctly.
Are you wasting money on high octane gas? https://amsoil.lube-direct.com/2017/06/are-you-wasting-money-on-high-octane-gas/
AMSoil rules!
I guess I need to add additional information so people will understand the TOTAL DESTRUCTION that this entails:
EVERY AGRICULTURAL machine will be destroyed / need to be replaced
EVERY police, fire department vehicle will have to be replaced
EVERY city county federal vehicle will have to be replaced
GET THE PICTURE ????
More ethanol in the gasoline mix, more corrosion, less fuel efficiency.
Calm down and go read what this entails.
Trust the Plan?
No people do not need to calm down. They need to be in the streets.
“Most gasoline sold in the U.S. contains 10% ethanol, and the fuel has become a key part of the economy in many Midwest states. The fuel consumes more than 40% of the nation’s corn supply.” –ABC NEWS
In 2005 Congress mandated that all new vehicles should be 15% compatible.
I’ve noticed that newer vehicles in CA that their engines shut off while idling at a red light and start up once the traffic light turns green.
Is this a computer-controlled feature to reduce emissions overall or just something that will require the replacement of the starter at increased intervals?
One thing that contributes to the higher costs of gasoline is the switching between summer and winter mixtures at the refineries. I think they’ve finally stopped using MTBE and are just using ethanol as an oxygenate to reduce NOX emissions.
…….now that the biofuel requirements for blended gasoline have gone from 10% to 15%, the price of the RIN credits will likely jump. This will cost refineries billions in additional expenses,….
Rule number 1) Follow The Money!!
Specifically, who is on the collecting end of these billions of dollars?
Over the past 10-20 years there has been a great deal of following the money, and much knowledge about where the money came from and where the money went has been gathered and distributed.
Having more information about who’s burning our national house down is certainly a good idea, but it seems to me, having watched the flow of opinions and reactions closely for ten years+ on this site and publicly known events, seems to me that having knowledge about who is doing what hasn’t changed what happens next.
There may be some element of illusion in assuming that knowledge equals accountability and improvement. It may, but it is not built in.
I think the gist of it is that our discussions are like pressure valves, and the powers-that-be must get it just right, by allowing people to let off *some* steam to avert a large explosion. Take Fox News. Please.
Lots of times, people just wish to be right, to be vindicated and their opinions validated. That’s quite enough to avert a larger explosion, without requiring any further action.. ie resolution.
Blanket censorship achieves quite the opposite, inviting frustration and escalating feelings over the boiling point. My takeaway is that these globalists censor us because they *want* to bring about a controlled demolition.
How else to “build back better?”
Controlled demolition! I was thinking about this the other day. They turn up the heat and almost bring the water to a boil and turn to simmer for a while to condition the sheeple. They have been gaming all this out for a long time. It is absolutely amazing how coordinated this attempted reset is being played, however I don’t think they will be successful.
And the hits just keep on coming!!!
Will it ever end?
Yes it might, if and when we remove the illegal buffoon in the White House.
The average price of a gallon of gas has surpassed $5 in nine states, seven of which are run by Democrats, with the national average price soaring this weekend to $4.85, according to the the American Automobile Association (AAA).
Motorists in 9 states – Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Illinois, Michigan, Nevada, Oregon and Washington – are now paying more than $5 a gallon.
https://summit.news/2022/06/06/gas-now-more-than-5-gallon-in-nine-states-and-rising/
Fail to see the problem here. Just another step towards the holy grail of saving the planet.
Cripple the economy, Check
Damage the countries energy (oil) stability. Check
Now what can I do next? I know. Lets make it so “old” cars cannot burn the new fuel without damaging them. Check.
If you see E15 at your local gas station(which currently doesn’t carry it) in the next year I’ll eat my keyboard.
Increasing ethanol reduces gas mileage, less miles per gallon requires more fuel purchases…result is increasing tax revenue.
Reason we mandate ethanol is we grow more corn than we use. It’s subsidizes corporate farming operations.
This is absolutely 100% retarded. Creating corn ethanol requires more energy than is created. So we will waste more fuel to increase the ethanol content while also making food more expensive. Dropping ethanol from gasoline entirely would yield more fuel and food, decreasing the cost of both.
Not retarded…mentally challenging…
It’s by design…occupant is a buffoon but the losers behind him are evil…
Follow the science you illegitimate fool. The report that ethanol is worse for the environment than petroleum based fuel has come out and is purposely ignored. We need to take our country back and if they cheat, by force.
We will need to burn more fuel to travel the same distance as ethanol is less efficient than petroleum. President Obama wants to accelerate the decline in the American economy so President Michelle Obama can rebuild and control it from Washington commencing in January, 2025.
Imagine if these globalists sat around all day in their think tanks to come up with ways to *help* humanity instead of destroying it.. if only.
Call THe BIDEN REGIME COMMUNISTS, because that is the goal, end of Freedom, Bill of RIghts and the Republic.
Everyone must call them all what they are and say NO MORE
Exactly 💯 💯
Who in Congress voted to authorize this?
Am I missing something or have I gone deaf?
I haven’t heard ANY Republican Senator or House member up in arms over this.
Have you?
………………..didn’t think so…………
The big question right now is: Will we survive as a Country by 2024? We will be lucky to make it till the end of 2022.
He wants to destroy automobile engines and create food shortages..this is being done on purpose
Not to nit pick too much, but I could not find where in the source articles an ethanol content increase from 10% to 15% in end consumer gasoline is called out.
Maybe I missed it?
Deliberate, and consistent with the notion that these policies will accelerate to get as much damage done as possible before the newly elected government changes hands next year. If more war, pandemics or riots aren’t used to justify suspending elections and imposing tyranny.
I run my old pickup and small engines on non-ethanol gasoline, which can be had only locally at Murphy (Walmart) stations. This may go away. If I can afford it, I buy a lead substitute and ZDDP.
The best I can do is to limit driving by combining essential trips; no more short runs. I am unable to work in my trade because of bone, vascular & neurological problems (I hope to recover); it ain’t easy. Jesus keeps me going.
Relatively few newer cars and trucks are rated to accept E-15 gasoline. The ones I’ve seen have an “E-15” badge on their exterior. I would read my vehicle handbook and WARRANTY carefully before putting that blend in my gas tank!
Biden will resign before he gets impeached in January and then losses all the money he’s stolen
There is already a shortage of ethanol. I have a Flex Fuel Vehicle and used to get E85 now and then when gas prices went high. But E85 has almost disappeared from the market. Stations in my area that carried it for years don’t have it anymore. And for those that do, it’s not that much cheaper than regular gas.
Just went by a gas station last night that had a price posted for E85, but on the pump it said E15. No more E85!
just to be clear, the corn they are growing for ethanol isn’t the food grade corn. what is happening is that food is being pushed off the fields for the ethanol grade corn.
just saying, we aren’t actually burning food, just displacing it.
This may read corny
but,
….correction,
the
field corn
( not sweet)
is used in A LOT
of corn based products:
– corn flakes
– corn bread
– taco shells
– corn / nacho chips
– corn oil
– livestock feeds ( livestock is used to feed people)
– exports to others
– etc
Sweet corn
( also grown in field but its a different type of corn) is used for:
– corn on the cob
– canned sweet corn
– salads
– corn casseroles
etc.
The higher demand for field corn ( ethanol )
is a price ( per bushel) supporter.
Higher demand, higher price.
And yes, the btu’s of ethanol
(which are related to power generation in engines )
are lower than petroleum fuels,
yet it does work.
Ethanol also has other uses ( beverages), when diluted quite a lot with water, / flavors.
Most Ethanol plants ( convert field corn to Ethanol liquid ) intentionally taint the ethanol with some ( 5%) petroleum product before shipping, to prevent it being sold for other purposes.
Then gasoline distributors blend in more gasoline for a variety of transportation fuels to be sold at fuel stations.
Imho

There goes your engine.
Well, look what we have here:
https://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/court-strikes-trump-epa-rule-full-year-15-78640835
LOL! That’s why I can’t stand any Trump is our savior crap. He’s better than the typical alternative. PEROID.
From that article:
Corn farmers and ethanol refiners have pushed for the government to allow the widespread sale of a 15% ethanol blend.
The Trump administration made the change to fulfill a campaign promise to Midwest farmers. The EPA under President Donald Trump announced the change in May 2019, ending a summer ban on the E15 blend.
So, what Biden’s EPA just did is illegal…
