In an effort to keep the Daily Open Thread a little more open topic we are going to start a new daily thread for “Presidential Politics”. Please use this thread to post anything relating to the JoeBama Administration and Presidency.
“This is no small thing, to restore a republic after it has fallen into corruption. I have studied history for years and I cannot recall it ever happening. It may be that our task is impossible. Yet, if we do not try then how will we know it can’t be done? And if we do not try, it most certainly won’t be done. The Founders’ Republic, and the larger war for western civilization, will be lost.”
“But I tell you this: We will not go gently into that bloody collectivist good night. Indeed, we will make with our defiance such a sound as ALL history from that day forward will be forced to note, even if they despise us in the writing of it.”
This thread will refresh daily and appear above the Open Discussion Thread.

An excellent article from the Ticker Guy about Nancy Pelosi versus the Catholic Church. It is not just about abortion, and it’s short, I think you will like his reasoning.
It IMO belongs on this political thread for obvious reasons.
Pelosi, Catholics, and Abortion
Karl Denninger
Why don’t Pelosi and Biden (along with the others) leave the Church and go find a faith community that agrees with them? There are many.
At the root of this from Pelosi is not religion at all. It is thuggery. She, Biden and others, believe they can force the Catholic Church to change its views and do as they will. Their deliberate thumbing of their nose and in fact erecting the middle finger at Catholic doctrine is simple and pure arrogance — and long past the point where the Church should have slammed their fingers in the door.
That this has finally happened is a good thing.

You’re right Clarion…Excellent article – Thanks!
My guess Pelosi has the support of the Pope after his latest Archbishop appointment!
All liberals will burn in a Hell they cannot imagine. Richly earned.
In Ephesians 1 Paul prayed for God the father to give them the Spirit of wisdom and revelation so that they may KNOW HIM better.
“That power is like the working of his mighty strength, which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but in the one to come.”
Today we see rulers and authorities , powers, and dominions trying to overthrow God’s ruling in our lives.
But we will remember
“ greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world” we are more than conquerers through him who loved us.
454 people killed with rifles in 2020. How many were suicides?
Excellent question Boogy!!
Isn’t it hard to commit suicide with a rifle? You’d have to have long arms? It CAN be done, but….
Not really, I have witnessed a couple at work.
Tie a string to a door handle, then around the trigger while door open.
Stand the loaded rifle on its butt, insert barrel in mouth hold barrel and kick the door shut.
Not common, but it can be done.
Isn’t it hard to commit suicide with a rifle?
Suicide by cop happens.
“Despite the unpredictable events that lead to fatal shootings, police nationwide have shot and killed almost the same number of people annually — nearly 1,000 —”
Some people prefer death to being locked up.
An argument can be made that the death is more humane then being rapped in jail or years of solitary confiment.
Brilliant…the CTH is “ simply the best”
Most gun deaths are suicides. Good point!
Maybe we should start calling syringes “Assault Weapons.”

Democide in action. Look it up. 2A designed to protecct from this.
Look up all the democide in 20’s,30’s Soviet Union which then repeated itself in N.K., Cambodia, Ethiopea, and many others. Tens of Millions were liquidated by the so called “elites”. Every time there is gun confiscation, last century shows tens of millions (80 million of more total) become statistics. Right wing socialists or left wing socialists first take the guns then commit genocide.
Big picture is random violence in the news is a fractional, microscopic drop in bucket compared to the democide perpetrated by authoritarian regimes. Concentrated power is the problems not 2A.
Slaves do not carry guns.

Eminent Domain:
City of Dunwoody, GA wants to seize First Baptist Church property.
Explanation starts at 1:12:00 on this video:
Makes a person wonder, did that builder who wanted to buy the land go to the city and suggest the city do an eminent domain and then later, once the city holds title to the land change its mind and then re-sell that land to the builder for a discount from what the builder offered the church?
Devious minds want to know 🙂
The SCOTUS decision in Kelo v City of New London permits cities to condemn for private commercial redevelopment.
Kelo reminds me of the Bible story where wicked King Ahab coveted a vineyard and whined about it to his evil queen, Jezebel. She told him since he was king to just take it.
So Ahab took what he wanted.
I’m sure this was posted by others but I had not noticed the magnitude of the increase in overdoses in hard drugs. 700% jump along with a 120% increase in overdose related deaths.
So Oregon’s decriminalizing of hard drugs means the hospitals ER’s are now swamped with drug addicts. This must be doing wonders for hospital/medical/insurance costs.
I met a former addict at work and he said bluntly that he quit only when he personally decided he had enough and the negative effects of drug use were getting too serious. He says this is totally a personal judgement and nobody else can change that. Until that happens, an addict will keep doing drugs and the easier it is, the longer and more he will do. It’s not a matter of “can’t” but much more a matter of “won’t”. They simply value the drug over any consequence it creates.
I’ve always considered drug addicts to be just another variation of hedonist. Morbidly obese people are food hedonists, drug addicts are pleasure hedonists. And of course, there a ton of sex hedonists of all varieties. I’ve wondered what the cross correlations are among them. I would guess its pretty high.
https://iotwreport.com/unintended-consequences-killing-oregons-drug-addicts/
Overdose rates in the state of Oregon rose by 700% after voters in the state approved a ballot measure to decriminalize all hard drugs.
Voters in the state of Oregon voted to decriminalize all hard drugs in the pursuit of encouraging those struggling with drug addiction to seek medical help. The measure, referred to as Ballot Measure 110, was the first of its kind in the U.S. and went into effect in February of 2021
Romans 8:5
Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit.
I see hedonists of every earthly or sensual pleasure as having their minds set on earthly things. I myself struggle with overeating, but when I do I know my focus isn’t where it should be.
Agree that the most useful information about how to get drug addicts unaddicted comes from former users.
Yep..

I have posted before that the junkies I talk to who are in treatment say they can’t find “honest” heroin anymore it’s all fentanyl now out here in west central Florida. Cokeheads are scared to buy powder cocaine as so much of it is also contaminated with fenty. They also tell me 95 % of the black market prescription xanax pills are also stamped with it(fentanyl). I guess DUI is down but terminal alcoholism is through the roof with delivery services like Drizzly encouraging binge drinking alone like the George Thorogood song. Like your co worker said, the drug(s) of choice have to almost kill the user before the final wake up call, awash in a sea of wake up calls, is hopefully answered. I had to be reduced to a quivering cold sweat soaked pile on my bed begging the Creator for Mercy.
Good news: Pope may step down.
Bad news: Not before adequately stacking College of Cardinals
… “Those rumors gained steam last week when Francis announced a consistory to create 21 new cardinals scheduled for Aug. 27. Sixteen of those cardinals are under age 80 and eligible to vote in a conclave to elect Francis’ successor.
Once they are added to the ranks of princes of the church, Francis will have stacked the College of Cardinals with 83 of the 132 voting-age cardinals. While there is no guarantee how the cardinals might vote, the chances that they will tap a successor who shares Francis’ pastoral priorities become ever greater.”

Trump won’t endorse people that he thinks can’t win. That’s why we get these confusing endorsements.
McCarthy was raising substantial campaign funds for 5 candidates who voted for Trump’s impeachment – Herrera-Buetler (WA), Mejier (MI), VAladao (CA), still running; Katko (NY) and Upton (MI) who have since dropped out.
He has not made the slightest effort of which I am aware to refuse backing to those who voted for Jan 6 commission. McCarthy is a limp wrist backstabbing denizen of the swamp whose stench would gag a vulture.
Trump seems only interested running up some kind of scorecard of wins vs actually helping patriotic candidates. He claimed huge success in Ohio almost entirely with establishment hacks many of whom were unopposed.
This is not encouraging, and not a good look. This has downside as citizens start to look elsewhere – like or not, it is happening.
I think it’s because no one of any merit was willing to take on McCarthy. So Trump had no alternative to endorse.
Unfortunately, that’s how we have ended up with all the RINOs. Apparently they have convinced everyone they are the only ones who can win. And that includes people on this site who kept saying Kathy Barnette could not win in PA so that’s why we need OZ.
That has to be it but how does this help us?
Then he should have just passed. Sometimes doing nothing is the right thing to do. I don’t care how much of a genius PDJT is, this is a mistake.
It’s an idiotic idea. GOP swine are wispering in his ear and he is a fool to follow it.

A complaint from a small, insignificant branch
To all the folks who pile on with negative comments when our VSG P DJT endorses a candidate for election or reelection… why exactly should we care that YOU don’t approve?
I believe President Trump has a plan, and I believe he needs key people in key positions to accomplish what needs to be done. If he does not have those people then (IMHO) there is no point in going back into the White House.
More years of the kind of abuse and obstruction he had for 4 years gets none of us what we desperately desire.
Educated treepers know the plusses and minuses of politicians (key word: politician). I am not hoping for fake enthusiasm. But page after page of postings from people who seem to presume they know better than President Trump does get to be very boring.
IMHO, this is a MUST WIN situation. YOU may presume there are better choices, but then, YOU are not the one making or influencing the decisions.
And one last opinion. If you believe President Trump is iggorant, doesn’t know, doesn’t understand or is making stupid decisions, I believe you are the one lacking understanding re: what needs to be done.
This thread’s image helps guide me.
Everyone makes their own decision who to vote for. Trump doesn’t make those decisions for us. So he can endorse whoever he wants but he shouldn’t be shocked when people call out the RINO traitors and don’t vote for them. And bullying by you won’t change that.
Agree. What next, his endorsement of the Turtle? SMH.
McConnell won in 2020 – so his next election is in 2026, right?. Lots can happen before then
Unless you are taking about Majority Leader of the Senate? We need more Senators for that to happen.
‘Scuse me if you read my post as bullying
I said it was boring
Not only does Trump NOT make voting decisions for us – but I challenge a negative poster to show that their unrelenting negativity influences voters
As I said, educated treepers already know the plusses and minuses of elected politicians- even RINOs. New information is always welcome
Here’s new information, though it will not be welcome. Spend your time for MAGA not NAG-A.
“More years of the kind of abuse and obstruction he had for 4 years gets none of us what we desperately desire.”
This is what he’ll get endorsing people who aren’t MAGA minded, mccarthy doesn’t even pretend to be. It’s unprincipled and unwise to overlook traitorous motives of someone, before giving an endorsement based on winability.
“I believe President Trump has a plan, and I believe he needs key people in key positions to accomplish what needs to be done.”
You may be right, but the frustration is, it makes no sense to fill those key positions with people who will (behind the scenes often) actively work against President Trump as he tries to accomplish what needs to be done.
He endorsed mcconnell and later claimed to regret it. He’ll regret others too.
ps, yours is not a small, insignificant branch.
Anyone with a functioning brain should be terrified of Joe Biden’s second term.

Updated results suggest new candidates for DeKalb commission runoff
DeKalb County commission candidates, from left, Marshall Orson, Lauren Alexander and Michelle Long Spears.
Newly released results from the hand count of a DeKalb County commission race suggest a significant change in outcome.
The results announced Wednesday evening — more than a week after election day and two days after the manual count was completed — showed Michelle Long Spears leading the way in the race for the District 2 commission seat, with Lauren Alexander finishing second.
If the results stand, those two would be in a runoff later this month.
Marshall Orson, a longtime DeKalb school board member looking make the transition to county government, would be in third place and out of the running.
That would be a dramatic departure from the preliminary results first reported in the race to represent the district that covers parts of the Decatur, Brookhaven and Atlanta areas in northwest DeKalb.

DeKalb delays certifying election results
Results posted the morning after the May 24 Democratic primary showed that none of the candidates had eclipsed the 50% mark to avoid a June 21 runoff election. Orson and Alexander were at the time reported as the top two vote-getters, with Spears on the outside looking in.
Spears and supporters soon discovered, however, that results showed her receiving zero election day votes at all but a few precincts.
County officials initially suggested that was the result of a simple “display error.” The secretary of state’s office later confirmed that a series of programming changes to voting touchscreens and scanners contributed to an erroneous count.
Ultimately, state elections workers created a situation where most election day ballot scanners were programmed to expect votes for four candidates in the District 2 race when there were only three displayed on ballots. That inconsistency prevented votes for Spears from being counted properly, officials said.

The issues also made the county elections office’s attempt at rescanning ballots a largely fruitless effort. They instead launched a hand count of the ballots cast at the more than three dozen polling places in District 2.
That tally took place over Memorial Day weekend, with three-member teams sifting through paper ballots and confirming voter selections. Counting finished up around midnight Monday.
Elections director Keisha Smith raised some eyebrows during the Tuesday afternoon meeting in which certification of the results was postponed until later this week, saying she wasn’t yet confident in the District 2 vote count and preliminary results wouldn’t be released.
Dele Lowman Smith, chair of the elections board, clarified early Wednesday that officials had a “high degree of confidence” that the hand count in that race was conducted appropriately. But they were taking extra time to double- and triple-check that the results were accurately entered into a spreadsheet and totaled.
“We’re a little gun-shy,” Lowman Smith said. “You put out one thing and to try to be transparent and respond urgently, and if it’s not 100% accurate then we’re accused of being dishonest. And then if you wait to try and get it right then we’re accused of hiding things.
“We just want to get it right.”
All results are considered unofficial until certified by the county elections board, and the Wednesday evening press release announcing the new totals said final results were still being tabulated and reconciled.
Orson, who would be out of the runoff if the updated results stand, said he and his team were reviewing the new data but there were “serious questions as to the administration of the election and the administration of the results.”
“The idea that problems related to the programming of the voting machines and the calculation of votes could not ultimately taint every aspect of the process, including the production of paper ballots, defies belief,” he said in a statement provided to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “We will continue to review our options, keeping at the forefront that any decision should work to foster the integrity and trustworthiness of our electoral process.”

UPDATE: DeKalb commission candidate asks elections board not to certify results
Alexander also said she would continue to monitor the situation: “It remains important to me that every vote is counted with accuracy and reflects the voters’ will. Due to the limited time between now and the runoff election date, I need to continue to be prepared for the runoff as we await certification.”
And Spears, who was endorsed by outgoing District 2 commission Jeff Rader and led her opponents in fundraising and early voting before the apparent election day snafus, said she was “thrilled” to be positioned for the runoff.
“Since my opponent has been in the runoff for over a week now,” she said, “we are already at a critical disadvantage of informing voters that I led the race in the Democratic primary with over 43% of the voters — and now it is important to focus on getting voters back to the polls to elect me as their next D2 commissioner.”
DeKalb’s elections board is currently scheduled to certify the results of the District 2 primary — and all other races — during a special called meeting at 5 p.m. Friday.

ATLANTA, Ga. (CBS46) – The Fulton County Board of Registration and Elections is set to recertify results from the primary election held on May 24 at a meeting this weekend.
Officials say the meeting will be held at the Fulton County Election Preparation Center located at 1365 English St. NW at 2 p.m. Sunday.
Michelle Long Spears recently alerted officials to a problem in the DeKalb County Commissioner District 2 race the Wednesday after the primary election. Spears said she noticed she received zero votes at more than a dozen precincts, including the one she voted at.
After a recount by hand, county officials announced it is delaying certification in the general primary election after a series of technical issues. The county did not specify the issues but shared it is working with the Georgia Secretary of State to determine what caused the problem.
Officials say they plan to discuss any other elections business.

DECATUR, Ga. – After days of a hand recount in the District 2 County Commission race, DeKalb County elections officials announced Wednesday night that the candidate whose complaints sparked the recount received the most votes.
According to the preliminary and unofficial vote totals announced by the DeKalb County Voter Registration and Elections office, Michelle Long Spears received 6,651 votes.
Following her is Lauren Alexander with 4,737 votes, Marshall Orson with 3,928 votes, and Donald Broussard with 133 votes.
Broussard officially withdrew from the race prior to the May 24th Democratic primary.
Spears complained about the initial results the morning after last week’s primary after the poll tape posted outside of one precinct showed she didn’t receive a single vote.

Spears said she then went to multiple precincts around the district and discovered the same thing–while the poll tapes showed votes for Alexander, Orson, and Broussard, they all listed zeros next to her name.
“All I have to say is my husband and I voted at the precinct for myself and when I showed up and it showed zero votes from myself, that was rather alarming,” Spears told FOX 5’s Claire Simms earlier in the week.
Spears notified DeKalb County officials who believe Broussard’s withdrawal from the race triggered some sort of electronic tabulation issue.
Keisha Smith, DeKalb’s elections director, decided Saturday to count the ballots by hand after discovery of the issue.
The initials primary results released May 25 showed Alexander with 34.67% of the vote, Orson with 41.35% and Spears with 23.98%.
Since none of the candidates met the 50% threshold, the race will likely head to a runoff between the two candidates who received the most votes.

According to a news release, DeKalb County elections officials have e-mailed the preliminary tabulations from the hand count to the candidates and will upload the numbers to the State’s election system.
Finals results are being tabulated, and will be announced when the process is completed.
DeKalb’s DeKalb Board of Registration and Election will hold a specially called meeting on Friday at 5 p.m. to consider certifying the May 24th election results.
“The goal of the hand count was to obtain accurate results of the County Commission District 2 race, and I am confident we have achieved that objective thanks in part to the diligence of our staff who worked extended hours across the holiday weekend,” Smith said in a news release. “We are committed to getting these tabulations right, but wanted to ensure that preliminary and unofficial results were posted as soon as practicable.”
More complete election results will be posted on DeKalbVotes.com page under the “Election Results” tab.

ATLANTA, Ga. (CBS46) – Three different candidates are united over election concerns in the county they hope to represent.
Michelle Long Spears alerted officials to a problem in the DeKalb County Commissioner District 2 race the Wednesday after the primary election. Spears said she noticed she received zero votes at more than a dozen precincts, including the one she voted at.
“I was shocked, I was alarmed, and I didn’t know what to think,” said Spears. “Folks around the entire U.S. have contacted us scratching their heads asking what happened in this county commissioner race.”
One week later, the DeKalb Board of Registration and Elections is still trying to find an answer.
After a recount by hand, county officials announced it is delaying certification in the general primary election after a series of technical issues. The county did not specify the issues but shared it is working with the Georgia Secretary of State to determine what caused the problem.
Spears and the two other candidates, Marshall Orson and Lauren Alexander, worry about future implications.
“We want some certainty – some assurances our election system is going to be free of serious defects,” said Orson.
“This is a bellwether for what could happen in the fall if we aren’t paying attention,” said Alexander.
The Secretary of State must certify election results by June 10. Early voting for a run-off election starts June 13. A delay of a few days poses a challenge for candidates and constituents.
“It’s going to be a real tight turnaround. I think the absentee process is not going to be here for some people going on vacation,” explained Alexander.
The Secretary of State could impose a penalty if the county does not certify results on time, including a fine. Counties that continuously have problems also face closer scrutiny. A representative tells CBS46 it will look into investigating “as the dust settles” and will focus on facilitating a smooth election season.

URGENT: Recent Georgia GOP Primary Exihibited More Patterns Eerily Similar to 2020’s “Drop and Roll”
By Joe Hoft
Published June 5, 2022, at 4:00pm
We strongly suspect that Georgia’s corrupt Secretary of State, Brad Raffensperger, didn’t legitimately win the recent 2022 primary in the state. For one, no one liked him. But now we have proof of his impossible victory for Secretary of State. Governor Kemp’s race was just as bad.
After the 2020 Election, we identified the “Drop and Roll”. Across numerous states, on Election night 2020, large ballot dumps of nearly all Biden-only impossible results were reported at nearly the same time, early on the morning of November 4th. After these dumps or drops, we then saw all subsequent reporting of results at similar ratios of Biden to Trump votes, always favoring Biden. This was enough proof to decertify the 2020 Election results in these states and call for new and safe and secure elections.
The recent GOP primaries show similar patterns in two big races. In the Governor’s race, incumbent GOP governor Kemp, who is very much disliked by the GOP in Georgia (other than the elites) somehow pulled off the win against Trump-backed former Senator David Perdue.
But what happened during the election was impossible. At one point in the night, 200,000 votes were lost.
LadyDraza on Telegram shows these results. Here was the original reporting in Fulton County:
Here was the reporting moments later – a 190,000 vote decrease.
You can see in these graphs the number of ballots for the candidates grew and then were reduced by 200,000 votes in the middle of the night. How again does it make sense that the number of votes anywhere at any time are reduced by 190,000?
Notice: The totals for each candidate went up the same percent and down the same percent as if their numbers were all at a fixed ratio. How is this possible? It isn’t.
As LadyDraza reports, their results show that the unknown candidate for governor’s results were 5% of Governor Kemp’s at all times. How does this make sense?
In the Secretary of State’s race, the results were more suspect. The main reason is that no one likes or trusts Brad Raffensperger.
The GOP’s Secretary of State race was Raffensperger’s all night where he was consistently at just slightly above 50% mark in the total votes turned in. This too is not possible. By winning by more than 50%, there was no runoff race for this office.
Maybe not the drop, but the roll was certainly in place in Georgia in these most recent 2022 primary results.
This must be investigated.

Raffensperger and Kemp won big in MTG ‘s district. That’s all you really need to know.
In the upcoming 2022 California’s 20th Congressional District election to take place on June 7, 2022, the only non-Democrat challengers to Kevin McCarthy’s seat are a homeless man who lives in his van named James Davis and a retired accountant named James Macauley who does not even have an official campaign website.
