Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen โ

Hey!!! Howโd you sneak in my kitchen last year and snap this???? I remember this day, these are mungrelโs birthday cookies!!!! Between you and Garrison reading my diary, what am I going to do with this crazy bunch of treepers? ๐ ๐ โค๏ธ
Good Morning FC. Guess we have to keep on loving our fellow treepers no matter what they do. They are our crazy family. Thank the Good Lord that we have them. Love them all. The cookies look good enough to eat, do you think mungrel will share them with a little milk? I miss him a lot.
Mungrel, if you are reading this, Happy Birthday to you, God’s blessings be upon you.
Happy Birthday Mungrel! We miss you a nd pray you can come back to us one day.
Mornin’, missus๐ Yes, ma’am. Our intercessionary prayers for such. You are loved, Mungrel. Hold on to that, and never forget it!
Good Morning marti โค๏ธ
I miss him sooooo much. Losing my friend, mungrel, couldnโt have happened at a worst moment in my life.
Personal story, every one of the people I loved and formed friendships with, left to go on with life, through no choice of their own. Itโs made me skittish to make friends since they always leave. That said, donโt anyone else leave, please. โค๏ธ
Good.morning, Cat๐ Lest I added to your devastating loss, he was the first I thought of when it happened. The first. And I knew how it would affect you. I miss him as well…very very much.
But as well, I am as sure of this as I am of anything else. I know he misses us more. Living the life he does and has, I know his big heart treasures those who have been important to him and who are no longer here. I’m thinking of Granny. Friendships matter to him and we are his friends. I worry for him. And I grieve that, for understandable reasons, his access to us during these times, especially in the dictator run country of Australia, is no more. My prayers fervently include him. Always, Mungrel..๐๐๐LBT
Youโre so right. I worry so about him. He had found a home amongst us here at the treehouse. People who love and care for him so much. I admit he has an unique, little colorful manner of speaking but if he hadnโt spoken like he did, he wouldnโt be the mungrel we know and love so. I still donโt understand why he had to leave forever, since Iโve seen others been able to stay. And I pray, they arenโt taken away too. ๐ ๐ข
All I can say is…I know…
I pray for him, too and I hope that he reads here. We miss you, son.
I’m thinking of Nipper, whose bilingual lessons were cut short..And he was.making such good progress as well…sigh
He sure was. talked to S this afternoon. The bad weather went around them, PTL!
Stuffed myself on the first zucchini crop tonight. Mom cooked her specialty. Instead of frying them you slice them and put them on a baking sheet with little oil and salt and tiny bit of flower and bake them. Lot less work. Then you make the sauce – plain yogurt with dill and garlic and let them sit in it for a couple of hours, the longer the better. Mmmm. I can make it,too but nothing like mom’s cooking.
Now digesting and waiting for the eclipse.
Hi, ‘Cat. Even if it’s limited by ascii please know that you are among friends who care about you. Why? Because we like you! Yeah, I know Mr. Rogers used to say that . . . ๐
Thanks grandpa ๐
You certainly have a sweet talking way with words. Hold onto mrs grandpa ๐ โค๏ธ
Ugggg ๐คฆโโ๏ธ did it again!!!!!
Recovery words from me should say I get you both confused cause youโre both sweet talkers whom I love thhhhhhiiiss much. Both of you hold your brides dearly for me please? ๐
๐
๐๐!! Mr Rogers was not wrong.
I have one of these at home. They seems sweet when you bring them home but wait until they eat all your bread and tortillas and bags of rice and and bags of beans and everything else.
Even my daughter who brought ours home is convinced ours is a changeling from the rat goblins./
Still… He’s fuzzy and we can’t resist that./
One more . . .
“Smoke..” is a fabulous song with decades of staying power and covered by the greats. Written in 1933, yet the song is still going strong 90 years later. The Platters cover hit #1 in 1958. Written by Jerome Kern (music) and Otto Hartbach (lyrics). Hartback also wrote “I Won’t Dance (Don’t Ask Me).
Lovely oldie there. It reminds me of what I’ve told our children and many others for many years. To love and be loved is the greatest human emotional need there is. And for those of us fortunate enough to find it, it is the power that propels us through the balance of our lives.
Everyone loves a great love story. But the one we all love the most is our own. The years together become a source of pride and accomplishment, for having overcome life’s obstacles, together.. It always makes me happy to see others in the same boat.
Thanks for sharing that one.
And thank you for your reminder Levi โค๏ธ
My father in law was a Brit. His unique talent was to hear American songs (during WWII) once and reproduce them on the piano. He had no musical training…just a good ear, an amazing gift.
This one was his absolute favourite, and it made me think of him. Thank you for posting it.
That’s so sweet, Betsy. What a great memory!
He was amazing…just an ordinary man. Music like this during WWII and after in the stark, deprived post war years in Britain really was a wonderful mood lifter. An era past which I wish we had back, musically speaking.
I think all believers, in one way or another, develop a personal relationship with Our Lord. It takes many shapes, may different experiences, some intensly personal—so much so that we are reluctant to mention them. These last few days have been especially difficult for us. As I have mentioned, my wife is in the final stages of Alzheimer’s disease. What this means for a caregiver is that you get confronted with unexpected dilemmas. When this happens, as it did a couple of days ago, I ask Our Lord for wisdom, the ability to make good decisions. The short answer to our personal drama is that I came to understand that what was happening was not quite what I thought.
Although there was a change, it wasn’t nearly as acute or dramatic as I feared. That realization came to me as I sat worrying about what was coming next . . . It was one of those “of course!!!” moments where suddenly everything falls into place and the impending chaos makes sense. Did Our Lord speak to me? He has many times in the past. I prefer to think he did yesterday. If you are a believer and you are in need, if you learn how to listen, Our Lord will speak to you. Honest, he will. Have a blessed Sunday, Treepers. ๐
Good Morning Garrison!!
What you wrote is the god honest truth. If I could physically, my shoulder would be with you for you to lean on. But Iโm not there physically so I can be with you and your bride in spirit. I truly know how difficult these times can be. Although I didnโt recognize it, until reflecting, when it happened the Lord was always guiding me. And when I finally listened and heard his whispers, it was awesome beyond belief. Iโm here for you. So is our Lord.
Love you Garrison โค๏ธ
The Lord has brought me thru many difficult times too. He guides us and shows us the way we should be going. I am glad he sent me to this site. So many treepers to help us thru difficult times. I know we are all praying for Garrison and his bride. Thank you Cat for being the wonderful person that you are. I can’t do emojis, so I will just say BIG hearts to you.
Iโm very grateful youโre here. It is I that thanks the Lord and your fingers that brought you here โค๏ธ
As He did me, Marti, I am convinced. As for emojis, parichute can’t do them either. So she has devised a nicer more intimate way…like this, which is meant for you. (warm hugs and loving heart) B
There are times…
seconds … moments … hours… nights… days… months… and yes, years
during the most difficult, trying, roller-coasting; emotionally, physically and mentally exhausting โand more frightening than one thinks one can bear (sigh)….
It is then โespecially then, when I have (and do) know that The Lord is ever present.
Your words and music selections always move me.
I pray for you & your Love.
-Abundant Blessings for you both, Garrison ๐น.
God is Good.
One night I dreamed a dream.
As I was walking along the beach with my Lord,
Across the dark sky flashed scenes from my life.
For each scene,I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand,
One belonging to me and one to my Lord.
After the last scene of my life flashed before me,
I looked back at the footprints in the sand.
I noticed that at many times along the path of life,
especially at the very lowest and saddest times,
there was only one set of footprints.
This really troubled me,so I asked the Lord about it.
“Lord,You said once I decided to follow You,
You’d walk with me all the way,
but I noticed that during the saddest and most troublesome times of my life,
there was only one set of footprints.
I don’t understand why,when I needed You the most,
You would leave me”.
He whispered,”My precious child,I love you and will never leave you
Never, ever during your trials and testings.
When you saw only one set of footprints,
it was there that I carried you”.
God bless you amigo…sigues con la lucha,y nunca rindes.Jamas! ๐
I love this poem. I have seen a picture of footprints in sand. Some two sets of prints and then one set of prints. It always reminds me of how often the Lord has carried me thru troubled times. Thank you for posting it.
Of course…just a reminder that the Lord is always by our side… ๐
Good morning, CBB๐ This poem I have always loved. It carries a simple but life affirming meaning for me. And a visual which is so comforting. Thank you for posting it.
I hope you and your family are well. When I read Garrison’s posts about his beloved wife, I think of you. I’m so glad you’re here. All Codes blessings to you, my friend. ๐๐Bet
Oh dear…God’s blessings.

drwg
๐๐๐๐!! What an obliging friend you are, Cat. And it’s short as well for ease of remembering, so unlike so many others.
God’s blessings are ALWAYS welcome, even if they are coded…LOL!!! ๐
They are, CBB. The spoken language doesn’t matter, because though the languages are different, the message comes from human hearts…and all those speak the same. Right? Right!
Amen! ๐
๐
Those words remain in our home for nothing could be more true about life. God bless indeed.
You just don’t get it and I feel sorry for you all. When Christ was tortured and dying on the cross and said “Father why have you forsaken me?” He was speaking for you. He knew you would speak those same words and he knew that it would bring up this vision of his horrible death and (the way I see it) he is laughing at you because he knows you now see that anyone who died this way for you would never forsake you. Have fun with your poetry.
Whatever pal…but please don’t waste your energy feeling sorry for me sir.I have NO need for it,NOR desire it.
I perceive this poem as showing the weakness and fallibility of man, that I believe our Lord obviously knows. In His eternal and unconditional love for us,he displays understanding and mercy for our faults, and is still constantly by our sides.
Unlike you,I pray that He displays that same love for people even such as yourself…so believe what you want.I don’t pretend to know what the Lord chuckles at,like you do,but in your infinite wisdom, perhaps you can ask him to forgive me for my shortcomings,if you’d like.
Or not…it makes NO difference to me.Meanwhile,I’ll continue having fun with my poetry.:-)
CBB, I wouldn’t know to form an answer to fleemit.
A thoughtful gracious reply. You are a good man. Bet๐
Perhaps he’s having a bad day….? Don’t know.Kinda reminds me of the comment,I believe it was Clay Budraux,or something, back 2-3 months ago or more, where a seemingly nice poster suddenly became real nasty for some reason…crap happens.Que sera sera… ๐
Ahhh yes. You’ve reminded me of Clay and that unfortunate episode. And like you, I always think one never ever knows what is going on in others’ lives.
I always think this when I see people on the streets, without homes, in straitened circumstances. Once upon a time they were someone’s baby, someone’s child…and hopefully loved, with the world in front of them. What has happened in their lives from then to now? We never know when such circumstances may place us in the same position. Prayers always for such people.
Absolutely Bet…right next to Park Avenue is Skid Row.Who knows what tragedy might had happened to them or what triggered them off the deep end…”but there for the grace of God go I”.
Bob Dylan wrote a good song about that…
Once upon a time, you looked so fine,
Threw the bums a dime in your prime, didn’t you.
… You used to laugh about, everyone that was hangin’ out….now you don’t talk so loud.
Now you don’t seem so proud,
About having to be scrounging your next meal.
How Does It Feel? Oh,How Does It Feel…
To be on your own, with no direction home,
Like a complete unknown.
Like a Rolling Stone…. or something like that.I’m going off of memory, but I think you get my meaning,no?Blessings ๐
Oh I do…completely. He wrote as if he knew a few. A well deserved Nobel for literature, when that prize has lost its luster in other categories. At any rate, my youngest when she saw people like that would go to the store and buy a drink and a sandwich to take to them. Then she started keeping some kits she made up…toothbrush and paste, soap, cloth, various other things that might be needed…in the car so that when she drove past someone who seemed to be really down on his luck, she’d give one out. She has explained to her young four why she does this. They will learn from her. She is a generous and loving soul.๐
๐
Thank you CBB for your reply to fleemit. I agree with Betsy, it was a gracious reply. And yes, you are indeed a good man. ( smiley face and hearts )
Oh dear…..
Garrison, praying for you and your wife.
Good Morning grandpa ๐
Good afternoon Cat! Back from church and from trimming the dead stuff off mom’s fig tree. ๐ณ
I responded to you yesterday about strawberries at the local Amish farm. They are selling them for $15 a gallon. If anyone in South Central Kentucky wants the location, just let me know. The farm is about 30 minutes from I-65 in Barren County.
Thanks, VM, I just got busy with other stuff. I wish it were a short drive. Love strawberries.
Good morning, Garrison๐
Your deep and abiding love for your wife shines through every post you write of your distressing journey through this part of your lives together. There isn’t a one of us here who doesn’t wish there was something we could do to help. But we know there isn’t, other than to be with you in this place, all our arms wrapped around you and her. We all know that there is Someone infinitely greater Who is constantly by your side and, yes, Who knows what you both need for these very difficult times.
With all my heart, I believe He spoke to you, as He does to all of us. And the blessing for you, I think, is that you know to listen, to be still and know He is God. So often it is only in retrospect that I know His Presence has been with me during my life. I’m positive it is the same with you and for your wife. Keep listening, friend of my heart. We are always here in this tree for you when things are getting fraught.
Our Father in Heaven knows what you need and will not abandon you. Ever๐Bet
Ditto Betsy โค๏ธ
Good Morning and have a blessed day โค๏ธ
Mornin’ Bet!!! Hope you are enjoying this day that the Lord has made for us.You have a special way with words, and we are all the better for them.Be well my friend! ๐
You are so kind, CB. You really are one of God’s good souls. Thank you.
I think of you often and your punishing work schedule, and I hope your head canary days off increase. We are having a mini heat wave for a week to prepare us for the big one coming later. But for now, yes, I am enjoying His day, here in our church amongst friends, which is a gift and how I have come to think of all of us here. I feel closer to God when I’m here amongst the more than the two or three gathered together. If you are at home, I hope you enjoy the day as well. God bless, CBB.๐๐Bet
Gracias Bet! Yep,trying to nap the haze outta my head and preen the ruffled feathers back to normal. The candle in the miner’s hat has been lit at both ends,as usual.
Be careful in that heat wave over there…they can be brutal and deadly, even for young folks like you. Here in S.E. FL,we have only two seasons…1)HOT and 2)SAUNA,but I’m used to it.I try to take advantage of it and sweat off the pounds when I’m outside.Don’t want to become too overweight from too many barley pops ya know. ๐
Haha! No…you definitely do not want that!! Our Texas heat is much the same down in the southern and southernish part. Just ask GrandpaM.
And how lovely for you to assume I’m still young, bless you. Love you for that. No, I am, shall we say, “of a certain age”. Young at heart maybe๐. I’ll take it!
Your metaphors say it all. Our oldest daughter would understand those absolutely. But I’m glad you have this day to shake those feathers out, and with them the cobwebs. It’s always so good to see you here. We’ll keep your branch tidy while you are absent, dusted and everything in order until they release you from your mining duties the next time, which I hope for your sake won’t be that long.๐คB
Much appreciated my friend…may our Lord continue to bless you, your family and friends! ๐
Thank you…๐
Good Morning Garrison. The Lord is certainly watching over you and your wife. Your faith in Him is stronger with each challenge that He brings you thru. I wish we could be closer to you to help you out. Please remember that all us treepers are here for you. You are part of our Christian family. Our love and prayers are with you always. I know that the Lord will keep taking care of you both.
EVERYONE: Thank you so very much for your kind words and prayers. I’ve never been one to talk about faith, preferring instead for my relationship with Our Lord to be more private. Awhile back, Betsy commented that our little community has become a church. I think she’s right. ๐
Awwwww….Garrison donโt be shy. Iโll shout it for you….I KNOW SHEโs RIGHT!!!! Itโs a 24/7 church where the Lord is honored in many different ways. Methinks he would be pleased โค๏ธ
๐!!
And really more than that, Garrison…we’re family. It certainly feels that way to me. I’m so grateful for everyone here.
Amen amigo. ๐
Thx for putting the artist’s name.
I forgot to add it!

Good morning, griever๐
This is so good. It put me in mind of two things.
I saw a cartoon. In it we see the soulless murderer Fauci meeting Death who is summoning him into the afterlife. Fauci is carrying two giant valises stuffed to overflowing with money, as are the pockets of his jacket. And there stands Death pointing to a huge mountain of cash, indicating that before Fauci can proceed further, he must dump all his blood money into that pile. “Back in the box.”
We enter this life with nothing, and we leave it the same way. What we leave behind us in terms of the people we love and who loved us, in terms of whatever good we may have done, in terms of our Book of Life is all that matters. My mother said to always leave a place better than you found it. I like to think each of us would hope to do that with His grace.
And this from Corrie ten Boom ~~
“Hold everything in your hands lightly. Otherwise, it hurts when God tries your fingers open.”
Wise and truthful words, I think.
Bless you, griever. Thank you for that wonderful post. Bet
Both of these posts, grieverโs and Betsyโs are a wonderful companion piece โค๏ธ thank you both and may your day be blessed.
Am I a Bad Person for enjoying watching this and laughing?

Sooo glad I don’t live up north anymore.

Parichute, good morning!!! โค๏ธ
That looks like the Republican Party, running like hell and getting no where fast.
Morning, Feisty…yes you are! Now scoot over. Once I get a tissue to wipe my eyes๐, I’ll join you in the corner.

Sometimes you can just fight falling too hard. If it is going to happen let it happen
True…though having done it, I can tell you that that sage advice sort of goes to pot when one is actually doing it๐

The Habit of Rising to the Occasion
โฆthat you may know what is the hope of His callingโฆ โEphesians 1:18
Remember that you have been saved so that the life of Jesus may be manifested in your body (see 2 Corinthians 4:10). Direct the total energy of your powers so that you may achieve everything your election as a child of God provides; rise every time to whatever occasion may come your way.
You did not do anything to achieve your salvation, but you must do something to exhibit it. You must โwork out your own salvationโ which God has worked in you already (Philippians 2:12). Are your speech, your thinking, and your emotions evidence that you are working it โoutโ? If you are still the same miserable, grouchy person, set on having your own way, then it is a lie to say that God has saved and sanctified you.
God is the Master Designer, and He allows adversities into your life to see if you can jump over them properlyโ โBy my God I can leap over a wallโ (Psalm 18:29). God will never shield you from the requirements of being His son or daughter. First Peter 4:12 says, โBeloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to youโฆ.โ Rise to the occasionโ do what the trial demands of you. It does not matter how much it hurts as long as it gives God the opportunity to manifest the life of Jesus in your body.
May God not find complaints in us anymore, but spiritual vitalityโ a readiness to face anything He brings our way. The only proper goal of life is that we manifest the Son of God; and when this occurs, all of our dictating of our demands to God disappears. Our Lord never dictated demands to His Father, and neither are we to make demands on God. We are here to submit to His will so that He may work through us what He wants. Once we realize this, He will make us broken bread and poured-out wine with which to feed and nourish others.
WISDOM FROM OSWALD CHAMBERS
It is perilously possible to make our conceptions of God like molten lead poured into a specially designed mould, and when it is cold and hard we fling it at the heads of the religious people who donโt agree with us.
I like thinking about our Lord while listening to this. Perhaps you might enjoy it as much as I did today, reflecting on all things relating to our Lord ๐ โค๏ธ
Oh yes!!!! To his kingdom above โค๏ธ
May your day be blessed and filled with happiness flyover ๐
Good morning Cat! He is truly coming very soon. May you have a blessed Sunday! โค๏ธ๐ค
Good Morning again grandpa ๐โโ๏ธ
Good morning, G.๐ It really does seem as if this might be so.
I’ve thought of terrible times past through history…specifically WWI and II, the famines and devastation inflicted by do gooder nations, the wicked and malevolent people who inflict untold miseries on others without a thought because to them people are things…not humans in His image with souls.
And I wonder why not then? I’ve come to the conclusion that because we have (as a society and country) not only abandoned Him, we have, again as a society as opposed to individually, chosen (key word) to follow evil, Satan, and all he stands for. To worship cults and false gods. To murder our own with almost a fervor. This is my thinking, though no one can fathom God’s mind or his timing.
All that He is, this world has denied and tried to eliminate. So, like you, I’m watching and praying… soon. With anticipation and hopefulness. ๐Bet
good afternoon Bet! Mankind never learned the lesson of the tower of Babel, still trying to become gods, still with the same miserable result.
We think we understand His mercy and grace. I think we don’t understand how deep they are. We have no idea.
I love Chambers’ sermon today, Cat. I really love it so much I had to say it twice.๐
“Trying to do the Lord’s work in your own strength is the most confusing, exhausting, and tedious of all work. But when you are filled with the Holy Spirit, then the ministry of Jesus just flows out of you.”
~~Corrie ten Boom~~
This just fits with Chambers today I think.
I agree with my whole heart Betsy!!!! It centered my focus on all things…..feral ( almost slipped and said my real name).
Mungrel, if youโre reading this, are you smart enough to figure out this clue? Look for the m & mโs I left for you to follow ๐
๐ค!!
Betsy, if you can, look on yesterdayโs Garrison thread at 12:26 am, go down to my post and look at the likes. Do my eyes deceive me??
Will look now, Cat.
If it’s the one where you ask no one “like, except for… Then I see three upvotes! That one?
May it be so๐
๐ โค๏ธ
Out of “sight” is our Mungrel, but definitely not out of mind…or heart.๐
Not that I was asked, but I wouldn’t worry about Mungrel too much folks. He’s a tough bird and a survivor like many of us.I’m sure he’s just fine.
While I enjoyed his eclectic manner of prose and insightful information, especially regarding events occurring ‘downunder’,I’m a little ticked off at him for not submitting to Menagerie’s,Ad Rem’s et al multiple request to eliminate the salty language,in particular the “C” word.
While I’m NOT,I repeat,NOT judging him,I think someone as smart as he should have used better discernment in obliging their desires to “clean it up”.I have noticed that our friend up in the northwest has “cleaned up his language”,and he is still commenting.
I’m not one to talk,as I have a rather filthy mouth at times…ok…most times (I can make a drunk sailor blush, and in more than one language),but I try not to use it in a public forum like this, where people are on average are much smarter than me,and definitely not in front of the ladies.
So,perhaps he could ask the mods for another chance, and apologize for not obliging them, and maybe he might be allowed back? I don’t know.Perhaps?
I work in an environment that has many “swinging peepees”,shall I say,and foul language is very common, whether or not one agrees with it or not,and often times complaining about it is a good way to get your ass beat… some pretty rough and tough boys.I personally don’t have a problem with it,but that’s just me…however I rarely use the “C” word.
That being said,I think we all know Mungrel pushed the envelope a tad too far,and lacked respect for our wonderful Menagerie,Ad Rem,Stella,WeeWeed and the guidelines posted by Sundance. They allow us to have this beautiful lil’ forum, and I for one am very thankful for that.
Nonetheless,I too pray that our friend ‘downunder’ is doing well. He’s a fighter, like many people I know, and he won’t go down easy.Cheers brother Mungrel and keep up the good fight amigo.:-)
Yes, CBB. And he knew, I think. And as you say, had something not snapped, we all were in danger of losing our beautiful home. That just couldn’t happen. That would have been a tragedy.
We all respect our hosts here as we’ve made clear no ends of times. I think today may be just one of those days where we are all just are missing him, regardless of how things happened. He’ll know this, I’m sure. And yes, he is a survivor. As long as he can still read our posts….
God Bless This House๐
Agreed Bet, and Amen… ๐
I hope your next working stint is not to draining…don’t forget your hard hat, if head canaries wear hard hats๐๐. Blessings, CBB.

The Byrds enter the Billboard Pop chart for the first time with their version of Bob Dylan’s “Mr. Tambourine Man”, which will climb to #1 by June.

After cracking the Billboard Top 40 in 1980 with “Angel Say No”, the four man Rock group from San Francisco named Tommy Tutone reached #5 with “867-5309 / Jenny”. Lead singer Tommy Heath said that he really does know a girl named Jenny whose parent’s phone number was 867-5309. Many folks with that phone number had it changed to avoid prank calls.
“I Left My Heart In San Fransisco”…………….written by Doug Cross (Lyrics) and George Cory (Music) in 1945. A one hit wonder for them. A gay couple who were long time partners who had left San Francisco for New York and had written the song as an exercise in nostalgia for the West Coast city in which they grew up. An obscure song until plucked out of oblivion by Tony Bennett in 1954.
Good Morning, UC๐ Given that you posted this interesting information, I thought you’d like to know that amongst his many other talents, the superb Mark Steyn is a veritable encyclopedia of extensive knowledge about song writers and performers in the 20th century. I didn’t realize one could know as much as he does. I thiiiink he compiled all he knows that’s worth knowing in a book a while back. I know he has one “Passing Parade” which is a compilation of some of the most astounding obituaries of various luminaries, full of tiny details which most, I’m betting, were unaware of.
In any event, his STEYNONLINE posts every week their Song of the Week, in which he gives a taste of just how voluminous that knowledge is. He really is a remarkable man in so many ways. But I thought, since you posted that tidbit, you’d be interested in looking into his site. Blessings to you, sir๐B
Thanks Ms. Jones………….yes Styne is a walking encyclopedia of the American Songbook. He appreciates the singer but also pays due tributes to the geniuses behind the singing – the lyrics and words.
I am amazed that so many of our memorable songs were written by first generation immigrants who knew nothing of the American experience, but somehow had the genius to put words and music together and create memorable songs that defined us as a nation.
Yes!! Incredible is it not, those first generation immigrants who came here for a better life and contributed so much to making sure the life they yearned for remained that dream? ( and please…Bet to my friends, which you most definitely are๐)
Save the Butterflies!
This honestly touches me because I love those butterflies. I will also say It’s BS. Drive down the I10 at the right time of year and you will be driving through millions of them. Like everything else – if you want to save it then develop local economy because it’s the truck that kill everything. It’s not the truckers fault it’s the consumers fault.
Why would a believer in Christ not at least entertain the idea that those in heaven pray for us just as they did on Earth.?
At the Ascension, Jesus said he was going to prepare a place for us. As it is impossible that he meant he was headed out to remodel heaven, I believe that likely meant he was going to be doing all he could from heaven to insure every one of his beloved children was saved.
I do not know what heaven is like, but I see no reason to think we get there and chill out. Yes, absolutely we join the heavenly host in worshipping God. But why would we not, in union with Jesus and all the angels, join in prayer for those souls who still fight the battle for salvation here.
The Church is the Body of Christ. Death cannot break those bonds. I am most sure that I will spend my time in heaven, if I am so fortunate as to get there, following the exhortation to pray unceasingly.
As for Biblical evidence, one example I will give is the Transfiguration. Why did Moses and Elijah appear with Jesus if there is no reason for the dead to be concerned with our salvation?
I hope this answers some of your questions. I donโt think it is such a huge theological issue as some do, but it can be baffling to both Catholics and Protestants. Protestants seem to find it impossible and maybe even disturbing. Catholics cannot understand how it would be seen as anything but logical.
Flyover, different strokes for different folks.
Personally, Iโd rather think my husband is praying for me from up there. Perhaps, with his guidance from above, I can finally fix myself. And thank you menagerie for the below โค๏ธ
I’d like to believe that intercessionary prayers are a two way street. As we pray for souls now departed from us, the thought that those souls would do the same for us yet to join them is a most comforting one.
Anyone know what painting (artist) the above image is from?
Peter Paul Rubens is the artist

Full blood moon lunar eclipse tonight.
https://www.timeanddate.com/eclipse/lunar/2022-may-16
Last night I went outside to see a fullish moon seemingly very close to earth. The sky was covered with a thinnest veil of cloud, so thin I could still see the odd little star. So thin that at first I was unsure there was a covering.
When looked up I saw the most amazing luminescent aura around the moon. It was so large that I couldn’t help but think God had been at work. I’ve never seen anything like it. As if His face was shining behind that beautiful moon. It left me feeling very much at peace.
Iโm envious for the inability to see that last night. And overjoyed that your elequent description could enable my minds eye to see it. ๐ฅฐ
It was only by chance I was outside last night, Cat. Retrieving the day’s mail. It was unexpected and overwhelming.
My bride and I thought this morning that we had missed it until I read Lizzy’s post.
I saw an amazing full moon sitting right on top of the mountains last night.
Last month I saw a sliver moon with Mercury and Venus right next to him. I suspect you saw a planet and not a star.
Perhaps. It was opposite the moon and only just visible…and tiny, though I looked for others.
Once I saw that gorgeous moon and the huge aura around it, I had eyes for nothing else.
Thank you Lizzie!
Yes! Went out with husband to check. Right now it is only partially coveredโฆ but special

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow, that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to โfaith my fearsโ by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that Iโm in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ.
AMEN.

Easy Listening Sunday Morning…………
Good morning everyone. I’m not a regular here in this particular forum, just the reporting within the site. However, I see and understand the despair of many based on uncontrollable events.
Please remember how much we all have to be grateful for. God’s grace remains an amazing virtue and we are all abundantly fortunate to have experienced it throughout our lives and to this immediate point in time.
As such, just wanted to add my own, happy Sunday and God bless each of you and all of yours.
May the good Lord Bless and keep you and yours always. ๐

Thank you. I will try to do that more often as I have immense appreciation of this sentiment of communication and those who follow the faith.
Good morning, Levi. What a lovely message. When we keep our focus on Him, it is so easy to realize that His grace has given us so much to be grateful for. You are right. There is no thread like this one. I hope you’ll stay and add to its richness.
Thank you. And ditto my message to FC above.
God afternoon Levi, isn’t it great that God’s grace is so abundant? Welcome!
Amen and thank you.

It includes an interview with Preston Manning ( about 30 mins) re Trudeau’s over-reaction to the Truckers Convoy, among other related subjects. Preston Manning was the person responsible for forming a new political movement called the Reform Party., a populist movement at that time, oriented towards dealing with Western Canada’s dissatisfaction with the federal status quo, and the talk of Western Separatism.
