Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

✝️ DAILY DEVOTIONAL, April 25, 2022
Nice to start my morning with spurgeon. ☺️
Thank you and Good morning DD! ❤️
Morning Cat, saw you say hi last night but it was way too late. ❤️
Good morning and you’re welcome!
I’m so glad to see this one of Dr Spurgeon’s, Dan. The strength of his sermons lies in the simplicity of them. Who can gainsay this? What a God given gift he had.🙏
Good morning, Bet! Last night when I finally circled back to the OT it was late to post any replies. ❤️
Had a good long talk with our friend S yesterday. He’s been fighting some health issues but sounded good and is leaning on the Lord fully.
Oh thank you for that update, G! Lord love you for sharing it. I know those issues have been with him for years, and it grieves me to learn they’ve been more of a problem for him lately. His faith is so strong, and I’m glad that he sounded good in himself. My prayers always include him. Bless you for letting me know. I always send my deepest affections and hopes for relief for him. An amazing man.
I’m hoping for you and your mother and the rest of your family that the path forward will be smoother by the day, recognizing of course that life for you all has a new face and that time is needed to adjust. At any rate I do know the Holy Spirit is with you all each and ever day. 🙏😘
Well said Betsy ❤️ couldn’t do better so can i tag onto your prayers to each. They’re all such lovely individuals 🥰
You can, Cat…all are welcome.
For sure. Glad you like.
More than like!!
Great lesson. It is difficult in hard times to put all your trust in God for your daily needs. We want to control and prepare , so that we can know we will have enough to live. But God will provide if we trust in Him. Think of all the people in the world right now who are crying out in pain or fear or hunger. And “they” say things will only get worse.
My first prayers at night are for people in those situations. Friends or strangers, it doesn’t matter. And the point that cannot be ignored is that so much of it has been as a result of interference either through deliberately engineered “wars” or liberal do gooders who think they have the right to regulate everybody’s life for the “greater good”…and none of which have to suffer the consequences of their hideous actions.
This is the test for the Christian, isn’t it?. Trusting God.
Beautiful rain in Fredericksburg this morning. We also need it East of it but if it doesn’t come today the Lord will provide in His perfect time.
Hoorah!!!! Deluge here. Most welcomed and a true gift.
Bet, we got 1.2 inches and hopefully more coming tonight. Praise the Lord! Mom is doing ok, she is able to get some sleep which helps a lot. In the orthodox church tradition that she was raised in there are services 3, 9, and 40 days after a loved one has passed. I get the 3 and the 40 days but don’t know where the 9 comes from. So tomorrow will be already 9 days and we are going to have some kind of remembrance. She’s been making today boiled wheat with raisins, powdered sugar, cinnamon, and lemon for flavoring. That is traditionally served, also.
Hello GrandPaM – I’ll say a prayer or two for more rain – is Wildseed farm a’bloomin?
Hi P, haven’t been by it in quite a while, or by any winery. I’m sure it still looks spectacular. we got a nice rain. Haven’t check the rain gauge, yet.
A funny story, shortly before the Memorial Day flood in 2015 a guy that our oldest son knew bought a 20 inch rain gauge. His wife asked him what idiot buys that size of a rain gauge. Then we got over 13 inches in 4 hours.
Hi GrandPa – that is hilarious, really; made my day – who would have thought???? I loved visiting Fredericksburg when I was in Texas…. and recall Wildseed Farm as a favorite stop.
I think that I’ve mentioned it before. Recently I noticed that they have added a wine tasting room to the Wildseed Farm. 🙂
Who knows? Could be.

Thank you! I needed that!

So what is the phone number of that phone? 🙂
Hey I know that cat!

That’s the number I give to Harbor Freight when they ask.
I’ve got first watch duty. Waiting for mungrel to dial in. Don’t want to miss his call. 😉
And, if youre weally weally quiet, you can hear me dreaming this:
❤️
Good morning, Cat💓 Where is our beloved Mungrel?? I wish I knew…God be with him…🙏
Good Morning Betsy!!!! ❤️
My six sense says he reading, not commenting… right, Mungrel?
There’s only a few good mungrels I would wait forever for and not give up on them. Mungrel’s at the top of that list 🥰
He has always said there are places he can go where others cannot, or will not. For the moment I’ll assume that’s where he is and trust his Guardian Angels are on duty.
Good morning FC and B – My ESP says he is fine, just gathering thoughts and fodder for his next creative, poetic posts. I hope he is well and ready to come back with a boatload of barker eggs to spread around. In the meantime…. maybe he’s out with this lot.
Good Morning parichute 🙋♀️
You and Betsy might be on to something. Maybe leenieatore too. Perhaps you’re right! ❤️
Forgot I liked your video.
Perhaps I shouldn’t have sold him on eBay. 😔
??
***???***
Garrison, I honestly don’t know where that came from. It wasn’t what I intended to post and it’s meaningless now.
Thanks for bringing it to my attention. Been real busy gardening. Looking forward to your music selections tomorrow ❤️
too much! thx FC
Morning, P💓 and 😂😂😂!! Mungrel would love that!
I’m like you and Cat. He is otherwise occupied for the nonce. Putting my trust where it should be. Though the news in Aussieland is a bit sparse now, their situation is not changed. Hoping for the best. He always finds a way against daunting circumstances, and that is not by chance…and he knows it.
B – I love that I often have to look up a phrase or word you use – I’m a huge fan of the dictionary and not-your-everyday language. If you haven’t already – check out any of the Russell Brand videos on youtube – great info and his command of the ‘English’ language is stellar and he’s funny – could listen all day. Suss it out ;o)
I have caught a few. He certainly was red pilled. When I was living across the pond, I gave him a wide berth because he really was on the other side of sanity. So the change is all the more remarkable…and I would really like to know what what was his Damascus moment. I really do need to watch more. Thank you for reminding me😁💖
Prayers for our mate Mungrel. 🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻
Hi grandpa 🙋♀️ caught ya!!! 😘
Hi FC, you sure did 😘.
Afternoon Betsy and others. I’m sorry to have to explain the Mungrel situation.
I was forced to ban him (back on 4/22) because he started throwing around the “n” word and called another female poster the “c” word. He seems to think that these are accepted words in Australia, so they should also be accepted in the Treehouse. We received several complains in the mail room from people who were not even involved.
Here’s a copy of one of the complaints we received… (commenter deleted for privacy)…
The convo was up most of the morning, so I’m surprised y’all didn’t get a chance to catch it…it was on the Presidential/Open. It has since been deleted….since we are a “G-rated” site.
Again, an all together regretful situation…. 🙁
Let me also add. I wanted to keep this confidential….out of respect for all parties involved. However, Mungrel has since commented (from the trash bin), that he would like you all to know what went down.
11:20 am…
Once again if you want to run a site that cores itself on truth in God “parichute” post should give a good lesson on no harm given.
Just tell this mob the truth.
So, there it is. Again….regretful.
Thanks for letting us know.
Ad rem, thanks for telling us.
And, if I may, thank you Mungrel for allowing her to tell us. You’re always our(my) special pedigree Mungrel ❤️ Jack will miss you bunches! 😪 😘
FC, I am quite pissed off. Some people get offended real easy these days and rush to cancel the person rather than to try and reason. If I have decided that I don’t agree and/or like someone’s posts I just don’t read them and don’t start whining for them to be cancelled. That’s what the libs do. People that are so sensitive should go post on Yelp.
Sorry for the rant Cat, I really needed to get it of my chest. 💜
Mungrel, you are my mate, son and will always be. 🍺
Grandpa…. this is the rating section from our backroom area. If the PTB catch content they deem to be too far off the mark, they will give SD grief. Lord knows, he’s bumped heads enough in the past. 🙁
Thanks for the reply Ad rem.
Hi grandpa! I’m stunned, I saw a bit of it from nonMungrel side near the end. The poster was irrational to another treeper, who was only posting an article. Then, you’ve got the “I’ve got the vapors” crowd. Rolling eyes. But, hey, I know the rules now so the next time someone here says something derogatory about redheads, watch out! Not sorry and not ranting. Cold anger.
Mungrel, you can always post to me on our other site. I usually visit mornings(6-10) est. but I can adapt time if necessary.
Pat head, rub ears, kiss on nose. ❤️
Grandpa, question for you, your memory is better than mine…..wasn’t Solomon run off the same way? People being nasty and rude?
I don’t know why exactly Solomon was banned but it was definitely not deserved.
Admin – Am I OK? I can’t tell or understand why my name comes up in the excerpt and I do not know which post is being referred to.
Just.now seeing, P…dang…
I don’t know why you name came up either parichute…..sorry.
Ahhhhh…thank you for that Ad rem…understood…truly.
Thanks Betsy…..
When you’re weary . . . feelin’ small . . .
Great tunes!!! Oh how the memories flood in! A big ‘thank you’ for sharing on a perfectly lovely night in April.
🙂
Good Morning Garrison! ❤️ 🥰
Hiya, Cat!
Good morning, Garrison💓 What a treasure you are! Simon and Garfunkel to start the week. Blessings to you, sir, and your lovely wife. You both deserve every one that the good Lord can provide. 🤗
Hi, Betsy! Thanks for the kind words . . . The music is the magic. I’m just the guy who puts it up. 🙂
You do the leg work. And we all benefit and appreciate it. It’s the memories which are enabled because of your efforts. That’s everything!
Awww, shucks . . . 🙂
Take your bows!! Well deserved😘
What memories! Thanks you.
Me too. 🙂

NATIONAL EAST MEETS WEST DAY AKA ELBE DAY – APRIL 25
Commemorates the day the Eastern Front of the Allied forces met the Western front on the River Elbe.
World War II had been raging for over six years. During the previous year, several events had begun turning the tides of the war against the Axis powers. In April of 1945, the Allies were marching toward peace. However, it would require a coordinated effort from both American troops in the East and Soviet armies from the West.
The commanders directed their units not to make contact with each other. Their orders were to remain on their eastern and western banks of the river while officers from each division formalized occupation of Berlin.
However, when the two armies met on April 25th south of Berlin outside Torgau on the River Elbe, patrols entered the river in a small boat. The first to make contact were American First Lieutenant Albert Kotzebue and Soviet Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Gardiev along with their commands.
NATIONAL ZUCCHINI BREAD DAY – APRIL 25
Zucchini bread, the answer to the inevitable question: “What are we going to do with all of this zucchini?”
We stopped growing it as our neighbors were always begging us to take theirs. At the local farmer’s market if you buy something you might get free zucchini. Maybe if you don’t buy anything.
What are you going to do with the inevitable baseball bat sized zucchini that somehow were overlooked as you tried to keep up with harvesting?
But, that bread looks like it was also the answer to ‘what are we going to do with all these walnuts? Maybe they’ll hide the zucchini?’
I’m thinking we may be missing Mungrel because of ANZAC day.
This day in Australia and New Zealand, which remember the date line, is the day they remember the sacrifice and service of their troops which made up the vast majority put ashore at Gallipoli, Turkey in 1915.
This seaborne invasion of Turkey was an ill conceived product under consideration by the British that Winston Churchill, who was First Lord of the Admiralty, championed. It was the first combat for Australian and New Zealand troops in WW I. And it was a bloody disaster.
The plan was not Churchill’s idea, it had long been under consideration of the British high command and the war cabinet. And it was also not carried out with nearly as many troops as Churchill wanted, nor were the naval operations in it’s support carried out as he wanted. But all failures need a scape goat, and Churchill, probably rightly so, is the one upon most of the blame is heaped for this one.
And a massive and expensive failure it was. 250,000 allied casualties including 46,000 killed, for no strategic gain.
He, more than anyone else, paid the political price, having to resign from the coveted position of First Lord of the Admiralty.
So for those that wonder why Churchill and much of his military were so set against a cross channel invasion during WW II and could only be dragged into it once the US became the dominate allied power in troops in the field, and FDR insisted on it, Gallipoli is part of the answer.
That being said, Churchill remained a firm advocate of amphibious invasion, but always on the periphery or in what he called “cats paw” operations where by defending Axis forces would be outflanked by landings to the rear of their defensive lines. Only at the final briefing of all the high leaders for D-day, did Churchill say, “I am warming to this operation”.
He never seemed to appreciate the problem of terrain behind the landing beaches and thus another reason for his resistance to the cross channel invasion was his desire to make the Balkans the focus of allied advances into the Reich. And this was also why he opposed the invasion of Southern France. He in fact changed the code name of that operation to Dragoon, because he said he had been dragged into approving it. He resisted it because it used the assets he wanted to use in Italy to keep up major offensive operations in Italy to pierce what he called “the soft underbelly of Europe”.
I do not intend to speak for Mungrel, but this may give some of you some insight into why he holds a quite different view of Winston, than we in the US generally do. There are of course other reasons, having to do with how the Australian troops were used in WW II.
The Balkans and the Italian Alps. I don’t think Churchill had any concept of terrain problems at all. Not just Normandy.
I think you need to re-read what I wrote about that. Or perhaps I was no as clear as I should have been in articulating that idea.
I did not mean to leave the impression I was talking only about the terrain immediately behind landing beaches.
I meant to say that his advice would have left us bogged down in horrible terrain. Which is what happened in Italy. Mountain after mountain after mountain. The terrain in Normandy only delayed us for a couple months. A month later we were knocking on Germany’s door, taking the other side of France. We were still fighting in Italy after a couple years.
The Italians were soft. They surrendered once we invaded. But we still had to fight through the very hard underbelly of Europe.
The Balkans wouldn’t have been any better. Though you have me fascinated on the ‘what if’ scenario of Hitler retreating to France as Stalin races to make sure as much of Europe is under his control as possible.
Nothing I disagree with in that assessment at all. The Bocage and some of the flooded areas were “missed” by the Normandy planners is the standard line of the historians. I really don’t buy that explanation. I don’t think with the level of Underground intel and having total air superiority over western Europe it was possible to “miss” those two very important problems.
What I think is that they were known and ignored. The worst cost from this was the failure to train the troops to fight in the Bocage. But then again, even 6 weeks before D-day, all the US divisions, other than the 1st infantry, that were slated for the initial assault were deemed to be inadequately trained even for their initial roles. Ike delayed the invasion for a month due to the shortage of landing craft and LSTs, but it was actually a blessing because the first three weeks of that month was one of highly concentrated training for the assault troops to try to bring them up to snuff.
Jim, I think that the whole purpose of invading the Balkans was to cut Stalin off from taking over half of Europe, terrain notwithstanding.
One of the saddest movies is Gallipoli – starring a young Mel Gibson.
Broke my heart did that one…a one time viewing for me, as was The Killing Fields.
. . . but deliver us from the Evil One.

April 24 Oswald Chambers
“Ready in Season”
Be ready in season and out of season. —2 Timothy 4:2
Many of us suffer from the unbalanced tendency to “be ready” only “out of season.” The season does not refer to time; it refers to us. This verse says, “Preach the Word! Be ready in season and out of season.” In other words, we should “be ready” whether we feel like it or not. If we do only what we feel inclined to do, some of us would never do anything. There are some people who are totally unemployable in the spiritual realm. They are spiritually feeble and weak, and they refuse to do anything unless they are supernaturally inspired. The proof that our relationship is right with God is that we do our best whether we feel inspired or not.
One of the worst traps a Christian worker can fall into is to become obsessed with his own exceptional moments of inspiration. When the Spirit of God gives you a time of inspiration and insight, you tend to say, “Now that I’ve experienced this moment, I will always be like this for God.” No, you will not, and God will make sure of that. Those times are entirely the gift of God. You cannot give them to yourself when you choose. If you say you will only be at your best for God, as during those exceptional times, you actually become an intolerable burden on Him. You will never do anything unless God keeps you consciously aware of His inspiration to you at all times. If you make a god out of your best moments, you will find that God will fade out of your life, never to return until you are obedient in the work He has placed closest to you, and until you have learned not to be obsessed with those exceptional moments He has given you.
WISDOM FROM OSWALD CHAMBERS

Good Morning home! Thank you for this! ❤️
And since it is of thy mercy, O gracious Father, that another day is added to our lives; We here dedicate both our souls and our bodies to thee and thy service, in a sober, righteous, and godly life: in which resolution, do thou, O merciful God, confirm and strengthen us; that as we grow in age, we may grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.
Thank you, H, for stepping into the breach. Blessings to you.🙏

Thanks be to H ❤️ It’s wonderful to receive these messages from our Lord 🥰

The local rag, Orlando Sentinel, is doing all it can to whip up fear and loathing over the DeSantis Disney District move. The weekend editorials/reporting was speculation about how bad it will be for the residents of Orange/Osceola county and the costs to taxpayers.
Lies. lies and more lies from the OS.
This will hit Disney hard when the local taxing authorities get to the serious business of setting taxable values on the Roddy Creek/Disney land and improvements. Setting values is going to be a bonanza for consultants and lawyers?
You can always count on Meathead to say something stupid. Who knew back in the day that Archie had actually nailed it in describing the real person behind the character?
Rob ‘Meathead’ Reiner Bemoans ‘End of Democracy’ If Garland Doesn’t Indict Trump | Newsbusters
Good morning to you, rah💓 Meathead in name, Meathead in nature…or life imitating art. Take your pick.
What a great show All in the Family was, with great story lines–especially in its later years, and good acting.
Rob Reiner was/is not desirable in real life, but he filled his acting role well.
Archie softened with each passing year, and I actually do not agree that “he hated everybody”.
He carried on wonderfully, touchingly, in Archie Bunker’s Place.
Great show.
I don’t think meathead was acting. He was just being who he actually is!
ditto!
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow, that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ.
AMEN.
Good Morning duchess! ❤️
Would it be presumptuous of me to share….lately, When I read this, I imagine all treepers getting dressed for the day, just like this prayer? 🥰

I once said that we see the face of God in our new born child. Many years later I still think that. (very old white guy)
How lovely. What an image. I don’t believe you are wrong, VOWG, made in His image as we all are.
My mother in law whom I loved so much, when she was talking to my newborn first daughter long ago used to tell her sweet things, adding about God, “…but you’ve seen Him since I have.” When I think of those times, I always remember that particularly. The picture it painted warmed my heart.
Mornin’ Treepers
Glory to God for all things.
Good morning, Lonestar💓. I pray your area received a healthy dose of the rain yesterday and last night.
When I was MUCH younger it always puzzled me why grownies always talked about the weather. I wonder no more…
Oh, I hope Lonestar got some rain! I think I remember Lonestar worked really hard getting her/his garden prepped!
Good Morning Lonestar 🙋♀️
Sorry administrators, I flagged my own reply by mistake. I was looking for how to edit. Should’ve practiced on an older thread.
She was really giving it a healthy effort to get it tidy. I hope it didn’t wear her out.
We used to look at our Welsh garden which was good sized one in the winter and think that it would never come back to the previous season’s glory, so barren, dead, and desolate did it look. And then, seemingly overnight, there it was, back to newer glory. I always thought much like ourselves in body when our numbered days are done, only to be renewed and changed in our eternal home. God’s earthly example of how it will be, wth his mercy and grace.
Still working on luring the Summer Tanager to my hand held paper plate with bird food, sitting in the floor of the porch. Mr. Leenie said, “I’m not sure if I should admire you patience or question your sanity…”. I had to go in because I was laughing too hard…. Tomorrow is another day!!!
Maybe I need to get a life! 🤣
😂 😂 stay the course Leenie!! 😝
The Great American Songbook……………….
It’s Only A Paper Moon. Lyrics by Billy Rose and Y.E. Harburg, Music by Harold Arlen. Written for the 1932 Broadway show “The Great Magoo”. The show was a bomb, it closed in the same month it opened. But this song lives on and is a standard for lounge singers and crooners everywhere.
The song by JT was written for a play that closed after ONE night. I love this song, my favorite of his; likely because I spent my entire career in manufacturing – not the early 1900’s kind mind you, but the lyrics are vivid of the time. I hope you enjoy!
Flyover you are so right, that is why this is my favorite tune – it was written before all that shite started and it never ‘made it big’.
Thank you for the great Paper Moon song.
Harold Arlen had a wonderful gift.
Here is one of his songs that gets to me every time, lyrics by Ira Gershwin, with the incomparable voice of Judy Garland at age 32:

Say it Loud
Say it PROUD

I miss WP’s daily posts, and thought I could share what I read daily from my Bible readings. Today its Psalm 3, Isaiah 40 1-11, and 1 Peter 1: 1-12. I love the commentary from Matthew Henry (1662-1714) included at the end of each reading. Henry also wrote A Method For Prayer.
Thank you for those, Rileytrips. Actually HomeisWheretheHeartIs above has picked up posting his daily offerings, bless her. I miss his presence as well. Hoping it’s not permanent. Blessings to you, girl.🙏

33 years, it was the second try for both of us but it worked out great.
Happy Birthday FLOTUS…..we miss ya.
Birthday is tomorrow, so I get to post 2 pictures with bday wishes for our most elegant FLOTUS
Class and breeding and beauty (inside and out) in the White House. There is nothing to make us appreciate her any more than we do but to contrast with what has replaced her in position. I won’t be ugly enough to put it into words. We’re all thinking it. Thank you, UC, for reminding us of what we once had.
Golly, I miss her.
A woman beautiful on the inside, and out.
And this…from the Daily Mail
“Rare ‘Washington Crossing the Delaware’ painting that hung in the White House for more than 40 years will be auctioned off and is expected to sell for $20M”
So not content with destroying our heritage vis statue destruction and removal, our family silver is being sold. I can’t tell you how this angers me. It’s NOT THEIRS TO SELL!!!!!
And just watch…someone with that much money (though I believe the figure of $20 million will be far surpassed) like a Soros or a Gates, true enemies of this country, will buy it as a middle finger to our America.
aaaaarrrghhhhh
What plans do they have for the proceeds I wonder…I dread to think.
The painting is privately owned, and was on loan to the White House until 2014. It has been owned by the founders of the Minnesota Marine Art Museum, since that time. It has been on display in that museum until now.
See link to story in my previous post.
Cheers, aDoozy. I know he painted three versions of it. Nevertheless…..it still feels like a betrayal.on top of everything else.
MFrs!
Betsy my dear. Was that the US or UK verion of the Daily Mail? I looked for the story in the US online version and did not find it. Could you perhaps provide a link?

Here you are rah
Good one, P!
Check out the full story of the painting at barrons.com.
Daily Mail story is incomplete.
It was actually in yesterday’s US version., rah. aDoozy has put me straight on this one, privately owned. I meant to post this in for when I saw it but got distracted. So the news is about two days old.
See my reply to him above.
I did some digging, and found the provenance of
Emanuel Leutze’s 1851 painting. It is one of three he painted, and has been privately owned.
You can read about the painting here:

Thank you all! I am quite relieved that it is not the government selling it. I was upset enough when the communist Barry removed the bust of Winston Churchill from the WH.
Oh! And given the circumstances, I withdraw my obscene expletive above.
Morning Ya’ll , yesterday was the day to post this here in the NW. 🙂
Hi jay 🙋♀️
Great midday tunes!!!! Thanks!!! 😘
Howdy F C, 🙂
Morning, jay💓 That goes waaaaay back!!! Nice!
Howdy Betsy. 😉
😁👏!!
It’s raining here at my central Indiana home and will be off and on for the next several hours as the cold moves in to replace the wonderful warmth we have had for the past several days.. The grass that I mowed on Saturday is already looking like I could hit it again. And since my neighbor is taking off tomorrow for a couple of weeks I will be mowing his grass and the acre of the widow lady to the south that he normally mows. So I will have about three acres to mow later this week instead of my usual one acre.
Very green here. Only the late bloomers, like the oaks and my cottonwood have yet to show green.
Low tonight forecast to be 37 F. Low Tuesday night to be 33 F. Joe Bastardi’s forecast of a colder than average first two weeks of May is coming to pass. He made the forecast way back in December as best I can remember.
The average temp for the US for this year so far has been coldest in the record since 2014. And it ain’t over yet! Of course NOAA did not foresee this, they in fact projected the exact opposite of what has occurred. This time the only place they got it right was for the Pacific NW which they showed being colder than average. Their forecast was an absolute bust everywhere else. Nothing unusual about that really. I can’t remember the last time a seasonal guidance forecast from NOAA turned out the resemble reality.
Joe however would say that what NOAA puts out is not a forecast but instead a “probability of occurrence ” which is a way of trying to protect from being wrong because you can’t measure probabilities.
So anyway now on to the future.
In a nut shell the models are in conflict. The European shows Texas still going to have above average temps over the next two weeks. The US model however, has started showing Texas cooling off to average or slightly below average temps. This is important really because higher temps in Texas this time of year usually indicates there will be more severe Thunderstorms and severe weather ie: tornadoes to the north and east of the state.
When the models disagree I tend to stick with the European simply because historically it has outperformed the US models by a significant margin. Joe is also coming down on the side of the European model and since he is the expert that it what I would go with. So no relief in site for the Mississippi valley and tornado alley from the severe weather. The contrast continues.
So the extended forecast is for basically all of the Eastern US from the plain states to the coast to have below average temps in May with the coldest portion, relative to averages, centered on the states bordering the great lakes. IOW where I live. You folks in the Pacific NW are due for a little break from the cold and should have pretty much average temps and weather. While those in Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Utah. SW Wyoming and S Idaho should see slightly warmer than average temps.
It should be noted that in the analog years or IOW looking at past years that had temperature patterns similar to what is forecasted for May, the hurricane season has been very active.
Western Europe BTW, for the same period is forecasted to have much colder than average temps reaching all the way down into Spain.
This cold we are now experiencing is very much like UK springs. Which is why the old saying “Ne’er cast a clout til May is out” is worth paying attention to. Looking at our Texas forecast for the next week, a wee bit cooler in the mornings and not as hot the rest of the days…thank goodness. Lower electric bills and all that.
We are the proverbial frogs in this house. Set our air con on 81 degrees in the summer to start and turn on the ceiling fans. Then if we’re bearing that, I move it up to 82. 78 at night with full blast fans. It’s more survivable than hideous electricity bills…and this year they’ll be even more appalling.
Haven’t heard the ac run in a couple of days. Our tomatoes love the cooler spring. We took a chance and planted early this year. No freeze and we have a bunch of tomatoes already getting big. God willing we ought to be able to start harvesting in May.
we were just gifted a 50 pound sack of whole wheat kernels. any ideas?
Always sort for rocks.
how do I get rid of the chaff?
Use the wind after beating the grain.
thanks, rah. the lads are all enthused thinking they will make a Bavarian wheat beer. whatever.
I think they make some descent Wiesen beer here, though I haven’t found any docalwiese beers here like I had in Germany. Good stuff!
Boulder Resident Sets Himself On Fire After Taking Michael Mann Climate Course | Real Climate Science
The man was indoctrinated and obviously unstable. His name will not be known to most and will be forgotten by most others in a very short time. He accomplished nothing good by his act of “deeply fearless act of compassion to bring attention to climate crisis”.
I hope that Michael Mann and Greta and all the academics, politicians, press, and their tools that have been declaring this false “crisis” are proud.
Hamburger Helper for dinner tonight. I had my choice of the Double Cheeseburger or the Four Cheese Lasagna. Double Cheeseburger has been favorite but I thought I would like to try this new stuff. So Four Cheese Lasagna it is.
rah, we always use Spotted Owl Helper.
Sorry that one doesn’t seem to be available in my area. Perhaps because there are no spotted owls around here?
rah, we just say that to drive the greenies crazy. did you know if they find an eagle nesting on your farm you aren’t allowed to log? yet their windmills kill them by the bunches.
marbled murrellet helper too. idiots counting them don’t know where they are and I’m not telling
Your dishes sound great, much better than the possum helper so prevalent in our house (the key to success is extra ketchup:).
They nest behind the K-mart signs. 🙂
Well, double Cheeseburger is better. But one doesn’t know if they don’t try.
We’ve passed crazy town and are entering the asylum 😢
