Epstein (and I think Maxwell too later ) tried to take advantage of that plea bargain when he was arrested and charged in NY I believe, but it didn’t fly and then he was dead.
When Acosta was being vetted by the Trump administration and was asked about his actions, word was that he claimed that he was told by his superiors at DOJ – and this was handled by DOJ DC top level – that Epstein was intelligence and one of ours. Only Sen. Patty Murray even raised it during Acosta confirmation hearings. The rest of DC was dead silent.
