Demonizing the Azovs, and the few who sport Nazis garb, fails to understand who they are and what gave rise their existence. Their members were born and raised in the Donbas Region of Mariupol that sits on the Sea of Azov. They lived with years of Russian instigated aggression and civil unrest.
Putin sent soldiers outfitted in unmarked military garb (‘Little Green Men’), just like they did in Syria, into Donbas prior to the revolution to pave the way for their seizure of Crimea. Citizens formed the Azov Battalion to oppose this. Once the 2014 Revolution started Putin used that opportunity to seize Ukraine territory in Crimea and to foster unrest ever since in preparation for the current land grab of all of Donbas.
The Azov’s are fighting for their homes and independence from Russian rule. Can you blame them?

Crimea elected to secede from Ukraine. It was not seized by Russia. Unlike the Ukraine Presidential coup that took place in 2o14. The Azov Battalion did not spontaneously emerge out of Crimea. They’ve been there waiting and training for years.
