This EXACTLY ^^^^^ I observed this when my mother lived in a nursing home. She was always kind, and with dementia, she became even sweeter, showing a lot of love to her caretakers. Those other residents, like her roommate, who had been able to hide the fact they were mean, just became meaner.
Yes, this I experienced firsthand only in the opposite direction. My brother-in-law was an angry man of disposition. As his dementia became worse, he literally was kicked out of 3 different nursing homes after assaulting nurses or residents and breaking down doors trying to escape.
