Sometimes things just fall on the side of the righteous. The premise of the silly Manhattan case against Donald Trump was that he inflated the value of his real estate holdings in the city. The DA was trying to make some kind of fraud case over it, but it always seemed ridiculous.
Consider the scenario, they are ultimately debating and trying to legally criminalize the subjective value of a physical asset. Imagine the timing of such a case right now when the value of property is so high.
You tell a grand jury that Trump inflated the value, and then someone just asks what it’s worth, and the answer is, “well, right now, it’s worth a lot more than he claimed then,” and the silliness of the case gets worse. I digress…
Splodey heads are happening today, because the two prosecutors in the case have quit, and the Manhattan district attorney says he doubts there’s any case here… and the salty tears of the far-left are crying, “curse you villain!”

The point of leverage is the Central Bank Currency Swap.

A country can support/backstop the global banks in its banking industry by having a currency swap between its central bank and the US Fed. When times get tough and the global bank is overextended, a country’s central bank can create national currency and swap it with the US Fed to get US dollars. In turn, those US dollars are loaned to the global bank to shore up its eurodollar banking collateral… keeping the global bank solvent.
If the currency swap does not exist, the global bank needs to rely on the citizens of the country for support.
Somehow, a monthlong pause is seen as gaining momentum.

The municipal tax assessor sets the value of your property in New York not the property owner. The owner of the property has no role in the process whatsoever, Bert.
I am aware of that and you make my point. The tax assessor would be a 3rd party appraisal of the value. If the tax assessed value was close to the Trump claimed value, then it would be difficult to make a case.

Over inflation of values typically happens when a property is trying to be refinanced in an effort to get a larger loan. The actual value is based on an appraisal. and comps of recently sold properties if any exist. Subversion of this system is rarely criminal, because in the end it’s up to the bank.
Yes the banks usually send an appraiser before they lend, and if that happened there is no case . It would allow Trump to sue for malicious prosecution.

That statement is not true in the state of New York.
When property assessments occur there is always an appeal process to challenge the value an assessor places on real estate property.
One can lower the assessment value if it can be shown and argued that the property has been overvalued by the assessor. The appeal process is automatic all one has to do is schedule a hearing within the time frame allotted.

The value of property used as collateral for a bank loan is determined by a bank contracted MAI real estate appraisal firm not the borrower. I have no idea what the Affirmative Action New York AG or the Manhattan DA are talking about and obviously neither do any of them!
