New York Governor Kathy Hochul is a state leader with few redeeming qualities. A detached elitist-minded governor who is very easy to dislike.
During her press conference today, Governor Hochul was questioned repeatedly about the state mask mandate for kids in school. After several justifications, she encapsulated her refusal to remove the mask mandate by saying her own kids didn’t like wearing sneakers at first, but they got used to it. Anyone who doesn’t realize the massive impact on students and kids created by this ridiculous COVID fear and mandates is, at this point in history, oblivious to the outcomes. Government officials, state officials, education officials, teachers’ unions and the medical establishment have destroyed the lives of young people. Key word “DESTROYED”.

Years ago, someone suggested drugging my son so he would pay more attention in class. I suggested instead that the teacher up her game and offer her students more interesting lesson plans.

Retired Magistrate here: My heart breaks for these kids. The only thing I can equate the masking to is when I was in elementary school in the mid 50’s we had atomic bomb drills. My elementary school was built in the 1890’s and all the chairs were bolted to the floor. So, when the alarm went off we would crouch down under our chairs and wait for the all clear siren. Our teachers would show us movies, in class, about what to do when the sirens went off which meant an atomic bomb blast had gone off. I remember having nightmares for several years about being blown to bits by an atomic bomb. Of course, we know now that we would all have been vaporized and crouching under a desk would have had no benefit at all.
Fast forward to today. These children/young people have been terrorized for several years over a virus that is not deadly to them at all. It has taken away their joy, independence and childhood.
Shame on the New York Governor, and all the other governors who bought into this and committed child abuse against these young people. If you have school age children, it is time to home school. There are many helpful sites that can help you do this. Some parents have banded together and hired retired teachers to home school their children. Something to think about.
It occurs to me that you could say the same thing about school desks as masks – that in some circumstances they might provide slightly more protection. But in those days they had the courage and common sense to say that’s not a good enough reason to have students stay under their desks all day every day.
I remember that as well. I used to cry thinking that if the bomb hit, I wouldn’t die with my mom and dad. I’d be alone under my school desk. Not good thoughts for children.
I never took it to heart. I just crouched down and thought, “When can I get back up?”
We were taught all about the Cold War in elementary school. The teachers said that Russian people were oppressed, could not speak freely and were brainwashed with pure propaganda.
And I thought, “How do I know that I’M not oppressed and YOU are brainwashing ME right now with propaganda?”
I was always a critical thinker. And in hindsight I think I had a point.
I also was of the “duck and cover” generation but we laughed at that training knowing full well that if a bomb went off and we were crouched under our desks we would be dead.
We went along with this because we enjoyed the break in the grind of our Catholic school teaching ( which I now treasure) .
We also loved the fire drills which sent us all outside usually during our spelling class for some reason.
Out we would march, single file and stand in the playground area right next to what would have been the burning building if the place was really on fire.
Still a break in the monotony of class instruction which at the time was a real pain in the neck to most of us.
I do hope that many parents will take the change to educate their children themselves how ever they choose to do so.
This governor is a real crackpot and should never be in charge of anything much less precious children.

I researched face mask studies for a couple of weeks, gathered my facts, and sent an email to my local board of education begging them to make masks optional. I then spoke to the board in public comments, was cut off at 3 minutes, and dismissed abruptly. They have kept masks on children, even though the local private school has been un-masked all year.
Masks do great harm to students. They exacerbate acne, cause fear and anxiety, decrease effective learning, put wet bacteria and viruses right where they can be re-breathed, cause sleep disturbances, make children feel isolated.
