Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer is using the J6 ‘threat to our democracy‘ narrative in an effort to gain support for legislation that will permit the federal takeover of elections. In a letter today, Schumer sets a deadline date of January 17 for a change in the Senate rules to remove the filibuster.
Schumer writes this letter without actually having the needed number of votes to change the rules, but he’s attempting to create pressure on fellow Democrats. Full propaganda letter below, but here’s the part that matters:
WASHINGTON DC – Chuck Schumer is attempting a filibuster Hail Mary as Democrats’ agenda on both elections reform and President Joe Biden’s economic plans remains stalled at the beginning of a critical midterm election year.
The Senate majority leader warned Monday that the Senate will debate and vote on changes to the chamber’s rules by January 17, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, unless Republicans get out of the way on elections reform. As we previously noted, the entire roadmap for Democrats in the 2022 mid-term election is predicated on exploitation of the J6 ‘danger to democracy‘ narrative. They have multiple approaches, most of which will evidence as efforts in stupidity, toward using the J6 narrative.

The KKK connection is inconvenient, but it is what it is. What is important is that Schumer hopes there is someone back home in West Virginia that can influence Manchin more than he has been able to. If there is someone, it will be an old line Democrat connected to the late Senator Byrd. That wing of the Democrat party in West Virginia still controls the Democrat political machine. Manchin may realize that he does not need the Democrat machine and align with a political machine with future power in West Virginia. This is smart play by Schumer. It does not carry a lot risk as Manchin is on the outside. This just might pull him in. If not, nothing has really changed and the Democrats can check off on the creation of a campaign talking point.

The fight for the ballot is as old as the Republic. Truer words were never spoken. The fight has been going on since Cain and Abel. Chuck is going to fight hard for the ballots necessary to achieve the aims of his tribe by any means. Of this we can be sure. His attempts to paint actual election integrity efforts as threats to democracy is laughable but now a standard talking point like the armed insurrection, they barely escaped from with their lives to hear him describe it. The only elections they would consider free and fair are the ones they conduct and count themselves. Manchin already said no on this, since “what goes around comes around” on dropping the F to federalize voting laws.

I have just heard that Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer wants to do away with the filibuster. This is bad news for BOTH parties.
The filibuster has served to keep the most extreme, unpopular, or just plain bad ideas from sailing through the Senate. Even the threat of a filibuster keeps the worst ideas from being brought up for a vote. The “filibuster-proof” majority serves to insure that one single party cannot force an agenda through the Senate–there has to be buy-in from the other side.
It is the filibuster that actually preserves democracy by insuring that minority opinions get a powerful voice. Please preserve democracy by supporting the filibuster and voting down Senator Schumer’s attempt to threaten a well-tested democratic process.

To put that letter in context, Schumer should have led off with:
“In the spirit of our cherished democracy, where the people voted for 535 representatives that shook out to a tied Senate and a 9-seat majority Democrat House, we have the moral authority to suspend the Constitution to give our party unchecked power in the name of half of 300 million Americans.”

How about Illinois rules were you must have a state issued voter ID plus a waiting period.
