[Prequel: Hopefully y’all have done your preparatory diligence, and are well situated to assist your family, because everything in the U.S. economic system is now around 30 days from entering the SNAFU phase. This CDC shift is predictably part of it.]
Last week the narrative was “the winter of death” is coming. That effort didn’t faze anyone; the White House shifted messaging within days.
The latest public guidance from the Centers for Disease Control [full release here] gives the first impression of the narrative shift being laughable; however, when you go deeper into their motive a righteous sneer disappears quickly.
♦ First, the CDC is now saying the quarantine time for anyone vaccinated or unvaccinated and testing positive for COVID-19 is now changed from ten days to five days. If you test positive for COVID-19, Omicron or any variant therein, you only need to be quarantined for 5 days.
♦ Secondly, the CDC is now saying anyone who has been vaccinated and “boosted” who tests positive, does not need to quarantine at all. “Individuals who have received their booster shot do not need to quarantine following an exposure, but should wear a mask for 10 days after the exposure.”
We already understand that everything, e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g, about COVID-19 is driven by politics. No actions, lockdowns, mandates, rules or restrictions were ever driven by public health – if they were, the rules would not conflict with empirical evidence and outcomes.
Now, accepting what the same medical officials have previously said about the virus infecting the boosted, vaccinated and unvaccinated equally, meaning there’s no benefit to prevent infection from any vaccine or proactive measure, we need to think about the scale of this CDC shift carefully, through the prism of politics.
Look at what is happening right now with airline travel as a result of people doing what the rules tell them to do. [I’ll skip the people gaming the system for ten days of free pay due to quarantine, and just stick to the honest ones.] Now, expand the airline example over all other major sectors and industries including healthcare, hotels, leisure, travel and hospitality.
After the “winter of death” statements, Biden met with corporations and people in the supply chain taskforce. Those conversations were all about the economics of the COVID-19 situation. The supply chain includes both “goods” and “services.”
♦ We already know from the price increases in raw materials (origination goods), and interim goods, and finished goods, that prices for final products are still going to increase. The costs in the supply chain are cumulative; the replacement goods for current low inventories will come into the retail world with higher costs than the goods they replace.
In essence, despite current high prices, the prices are about to jump higher. The only thing that will stop this higher-price outcome is an immediate drop in demand. There are only two possible outcomes: people paying more, or people not purchasing.
That’s it, those are the only two options.
In outcome one, Biden is in political peril over inflation. In outcome two, Biden is in political peril due to our entry into a recession.
The price increases are baked into the cake. Nothing Biden can do can stop more inflation in the next few months. The people on that supply chain and inventory task force told the White House exactly that. The inflation rate of finished goods (final goods) is going to remain high, period.
♦ Turning to the service sector. The vaccine mandate has hit employers harder than media will admit. We are now seeing laid off workers who refused to get vaccinated being asked to come back to their previous jobs. The reason is simply because those workers were the top performers.
Inside every company there are key people who keep stuff working and operations smooth. The top 20 percent of workers generate 80 percent of the value. Losing one of those top performers has a much bigger impact. Regardless of scale, no employer can afford to lose several of their elite performers.
This CDC shift in quarantine time for infection is significant, because it shows the impact of lost workers (sick time) to the aggregate economy. The Joe Biden policy response is to shorten the quarantine recommendations, because our economy cannot have millions of people taking ten days off work for a common cold.
Yes, the COVID-19 Omicron variant symptoms are no greater than a common cold, and yes, some people die from a cold or flu.
The CDC guidance changes because the economy cannot support the outcome of the previous guidance. What does that tell you about the previous guidance?
It was all politics.
Now the politics have shifted.
Again, consider this CDC statement: “Individuals who have received their booster shot do not need to quarantine following an exposure.” Infected (boosted) people are free to roam about doing whatever they were doing, without any quarantine. That is a big tell from the medical and scientific community exposing their politics.

My daughter in law is a RN in one of our small local hospitals and refused the vax.
So did a lot of her co-workers who were laid off in september.
The hospital managed to limp along until three weeks ago with “travelers” but for some reason have run out of them.
Now my daughter in law and all of the other non vaxed nurses and other medical personel have been asked to please come back no vaxs needed.
She will be going back to work the first part of Jan.
No vax required and no weekly covid testing, only if they show symptons.

In Oct, 2 RT travelers were hired to backfill for vacations, both from tri-state area, both are unvaxxed. Hospital group has NO vax restrictions or requirements for traveler hires.

Our niece, who is a surgical nurse at a large hospital in North Carolina, just completed a visit to our home. What I heard made my jaw drop. The staff there is allowed to work while tested as COVID positive. The nurses are strongly encouraged NOT to be tested. She said there is a severe nursing shortage although not attributing that directly to the vax. She said working conditions being horrible was the major factor in staff leaving. The thing that upsets her the most is that physicians are basically ignoring any kind of treatments for elderly DNR patients, no matter their condition.
This visit strengthened the resolve my wife and I have on two issues:
1) Never get jabbed
2) Only go to a hospital if in an extremely serious condition
It’s been that way a long time. So long I cannot remember letting a family member stay alone in a hospital. Never ever leave a family member alone unless they are alert and are not under any sedatives etc, too much goes wrong. All are short staffed and have been for years, this just brought it to a head. This was the last time to renew my license and I can’t work as many still have a mandate, oh well not that tough yet, ok best of luck to ya.

Anyone who has been trained in IH or occupational health knows NEVER to provide this type of “PPE” as it is much worse than useless.
I was trained to wear chem/bio defense equipment as USAF aircrew. We used carbon suits, face sealing respirators, special gloves, boots, and hoods. All of this under a plastic “body condom”. All of it designed to last just a few minutes until we could be deconned as flying in that crap for any length of time was not physically possible. We had a med/tech wear the full gear and slept on the floor during a routine training flight of 10 hours. He had to be extracted by the flight docs when we landed.

I yearn ever more for the daily newspaper that was at the center of American culture. No young person is capable of understanding what I mean. The internet and the radio and the television only approach the magnitude of the daily paper.
The front page reported the facts of the news, with a respect for the 5 Ws of truth. When people complain about the news media and bias, this is what they mean. Opinion was for the editorial page of the paper, and few people read this page. It was not news – get it?
The obituaries and the classified ads and the sports page: this is what people read. This is what sold papers, and this is what people depended upon. All gone.
The comic strips were at the center of the culture. TV and radio and movies and broadway musicals: all took their inspiration from the comic strips. Snoopy and Dagwood and L’il Abner were America. Get it?
Never mind the Constitution. Without the daily paper as a shared value, is there an America?

The editorials were trivia, but leaving out the horoscopes brought down the wrath of god.
If only the residue of an editorial staff that remain could grasp this sad fact.
Note: The sports page covered the local little league games, with pictures, not the chinessssseee dunk-in squad.
I grew up in a small city that had local reporters who covered all the local sports. My picture appeared playing high school basketball. This type of coverage sold papers in the 1970s.
I read the daily paper, every day. I knew about the local garden club meetings. I thought this stuff mattered and it made me care about my home town.

For what it’s worth, last August, I had the bad 2-wk. summer cold/flu that was going around, and because of the symptoms, thought it might be the Delta variant. My home kit registered negative, but since I’m 66 and my 91 year old mom lives upstairs, I did a teledoc call, and he ordered a PCR test because the symptoms were similar. (Fever, initial sore throat, stuffy runny nose, fatigue.) I planned to get monoclonal antibodies if I tested positive, but the PCR test came out negative as well. Just saying, the tests don’t always register a flu or cold as covid positive.
Man I read the new CDC directives about the lower quarantine days & new mask stuff. I say Covid is done folks. This scam is done! I was over this last year. Jail Fauxi & all of those people who perpetrated this plandemic upon us.

The no quarantine if vaxxed and boosted is not for those who tested positive, just for those who have been exposed. All positives, regardless of vax status, are 5 days. Post is still valid but just want to be accurate.
The White House needs to find one expert who’s not only authentic and accurate, but competent at oral and written communication. Fauci and Walensky have long ago disqualified themselves.
