None of us can really understand what this brave young man was facing if he would have been found guilty and had to enter an adult prison. Some faith in our judicial system was restored today
Pray that Kyle knows the love of God and finds peace. The trauma of it all for him for over a year now has been horrendous, especially for a young man just entering adulthood and needing to make important decisions as to his path forward in life.

Somewhat in irony is Nick Sandman’s lawyers were early on Kyle’s case when he was in juvenile detention awaiting extradition and were removed by the family. That’s a topic likely worth of its own thread. Allegations of misappropriation of donations and other malfeasance were raised.
However, back to Covington, the lawyer who represented a significant group of Sandman’s fellow students has been involved in an advisory position in Kyle’s defense and it remains to be seen if he’ll advise/represent Kyle in any civil claims. My read of his last statements was a quite different road for Kyle than for the Covington kids and Sandman. Capital crime charges were involved with Kyle. That opens up many legal cans of worms for civil suits succeeding against media.
Anyway, glad this part is over. He still has a long road to complete health. PTSD is a tough slog.

The jury got it right—finding Rittenhouse not guilty on all charges. The fact that charges were brought before any serious investigation is evidence that the government was motivated by politics, which itself should be considered criminal.

and his other misconduct..what’s the count add up to: like 7 different instances where a less than tolerant judge may have moved to mistrial and disciplined the prosecutor. it happens…but this judge was tolerant and it should not be missed by anyone at this point to realize that this judge allowed this jury to hear a case that should have been ended by mistrial. The judge can be praised up to a point. Allowing this case to proceed notwithstanding the jury has been exploited with assertions and claims and allegations that were verboten and expressly so, actually. And yet, he declined to direct a mistrial over it! Thats’s a big red flag. he certainly had the grounds and the law to support that legal and proper and fair judgement from the bench. But he chose to allow rittenhouse exposure to the same jury who now had information and suggestions and inferences made by the prosecutor that could tilt their bias in this case. The judge “GAMBLED” with the life of rittenhouse.
I don’t think we need to applaud this judge too soundly. This was a serious breach in my opinion. If it was so important to create rules and breaking them intentionally REPEATEDLY is the character of a court and excercise of rules of law that is degraded, dishonorable, and threatens to create the very unintended consequences that a mistrial is also designed to solve.

that is the primary responsibility of a judge, this judge in this court. his utmost responsibility is to afford the most protections and defense of all due process rights the accused ( under a nightmare of non stop false and misinformation) who then becomes a defendant. Whether BS was the best judge they had or not, I felt like someone was pulling his strings forebearing the outrageous prosecutors. Maybe a little less that John Roberts, but not a great judge.
The only ruling I felt he did rrrally his job was in not letting them call the shot criminals, “victims”.
The judge had never handled such a high profile, nationally televised case like this before but overall did a pretty good job. He was sticking to the American principle that guilt is judged by a jury of one’s peers, not by a government official. He might have granted a mistrial based on prosecutorial misconduct, but it doesn’t matter.
In the end the best result was reached – not guilty on all counts. No mistrial, no hung jury, no need for the judge to do a directed verdict (if that is the proper term). Kyle was cleared on all charges and can never be retried in a criminal court.
Even more poignant since old-timer Judge Schroeder is known locally as a harsh on defendant’s judge and prosecutor Binger has had hundreds of cases in front of him over the years. Lady Justice balanced her scales a tiny bit today. Still a long ways to go.
